"Mister Prime Minister, you must understand that my countrymen, diverse and divided as they may be, are not willing to give up the hard-earned collective sovereignty of our republic," President Ncguka said, seated at a conference table and surrounded by several of his aides.

"Mister President," replied Joseph Stephens, Prime Minister of Australonesia, I understand your concerns. However, the culture and national identity of South Africa will still be very present. Besides, South Africa will not become part of another country, but its own autonomous entity within the Australonesian Empire, in no way subordinate to another nation.

Mister President, I do not need to explain to you the problems that your nation is facing, as you are well aware of them. You have visited Australonesia, you have seen how your Indonesian counterparts have thrived within the Empire. More importantly, you have seen firsthand what Australonesia has to offer the South African republic. Not only defense, but economic investment, jobs, medical care, well-funded education, real security and law enforcement. The thousands of refugees you take in from troubled regions of Africa, we can support them; we can support you."

"I understand well, Mister Prime Minister, thank you for your proposal. I will think about its merits and bring it into consideration in the National Assembly." The South African President responded thoughtfully.

One of the President's aides, by his name tag: George Xola, Executive Deputy President, rumbled something to the president in his deep voice. Although Prime Minister Stephens didn't understand, as the man was speaking IsiZulu, he could understand the direction in which the conversation was going.

"Well, Mr. Ncguka, that is all that we ask," said Stephens, rising to shake the President's hand. "I hope you have a safe and enjoyable trip back to South Africa. It was good meeting you."

"And the same goes to you, Mister Prime Minister," Ncguka. As a fully uniformed soldier of Australonesia's Gurkha Guard Regiment opened the darkened oak doors; Ncguka, Stephens, and several other men filed out of the building. Members of the Gurkha Guards filed on either side of the politicians, as they mobs of reporters and photographers attempted to descend upon them. They strode towards a limousine and, upon reaching it, stopped and shook hands once more for a photo-op. A blue-clad Federal Police officer opened the limo's back door, as President Ncguka of South Africa stepped into it.

"Jesus Fucking Christ!" yelled Prime Minister Stephens, though the panic and confusion spreading through the crowd created such noise that it was barely audible. The Gurkha Guards nearby formed a protective circle around Stephens, the blood and guts of the man who had just stood next to him smeared all over his nine-hundred-dollar-suit.

Stephens tried to escape the guards and get near the South African president, but he was no match for the bulky Nepalese warriors that formed his guard. "Its for your... own protection, sir. We must... bring... you into... building," said the senior guard present, a sergeant, in broken and thickly accented English.

Lights flashed as photographers wildly took pictures and reporters, quickly recovering from the momental chaos, furiously jotted down notes. Federal policemen flodded the scene and within minutes the area had been cordoned off with red tape, members of ASIO's crime lab and anti-terror unit beginning to arrive.

1 Hour Later: Scene of the Crime

The Federal policemen stopped their examination of the crime scene and stared as a sleek black Rolls Royce pulled up in front of the building. It came to a halt and out stepped a tall, well-built man in his early thirties. He wore expensive-looking sunglasses, black pants and a blazer, with a striped blue and red tie and a white button-down shirt. The officer leading the investigation walked over to him. "Excuse me sir, I'm sorry but this area is currently off limits to civillians," motioned the officer.

The man reached into his jacket and pulled out a badge, "Special Agent Nick Hartford, I'm with ASIO's Anti-Terror Unit. I understand that some of my colleagues from the crime lab are already here."

"That's correct, sir, but, with all due respect, we're fully capable of handling this investigation ourselves and don't require any more of ASIO's support."

"Be that as it may," the man identifying himself as Nick Hartford responded, "This was the assassination of a foreign Head of State, clearly ASIO's jurisdiction. So this is actually my investigation, but you're welcome to help out," he smirked.

The officer muttered something under his breath and then said "Alright, fine. You can work with my team."

George Xola got out of his limousine, as four Gurkha Guardsmen rushed to escort him. They walked up the driveway of The Lodge, the official residence of the Australonesian Prime Minister. The group walked passed the croquet lawn and inside the building. As the Prime Minister walked towards them, Xola noted the interior's American Colonial character and stained wall panelling.

"Prime Minister Stephens," greeted George Xola solemnly, sticking his hand out. Stephens walked over to the man and grasped his hand, "Mr. Xola, how are you holding up?"

"Well, and you, sir?" Xola rumbled thickly

"I could be better," admitted the Prime Minister, "It's not every day that a visiting country's leader is tossed all over you."

"Indeed, Mr. President. Shall we enter?"

"Let's,"

Two of the Gurkha Guardsmen opened a door on the left as Prime Minister Stephens and Deputy President Xola nodded at each other, entered the room. As the two took their places behind seperate podiums, Stephens said "Please be seated." And with that, the two men began their speech.

"Ladies and gentlemen, today is a tragic day in the history of our two great nations. Approximately one hour ago, South African President, Robert Ngcuka, was assassinated, by an unknown terrorist, with a gunshot to the head. The Australonesian Federal Police Force and the Security Intelligence Organization are conducting an investigation into the affair..."

Special Agent Nick Hartford stood over the dead body of the murdered South African President.

"Okay, so the victim was obviously shot with a decent-range sniper rifle, as it wasn't committed from within the crowd," thought Special Agent Hartford aloud. "And the nature of the bullet wound indicates that the shot came from relatively high up. It's on the left side of his head so that means..."

Hartford walked over to where the President had been standing when he was shot, turned to the direction which the President had been standing, and stuck out his left arm. "East. The killer shot from an eastern direction."

He pointed at a group of six Federal policemen lolling about, "You there. I want you two to scour every building on the eastern side of this site, that is within range and isn't blocked from view. I want you to check every flat on every floor, and every roof, of every building. Search for any kind of evidence that a sniper was positioned there. Do I make myself clear?"

An officer nodded, as the men walked off in an eastern direction.

" ... And so, ladies and gentlemen, let us remember a great man and his legacy. A man who fought against racial injustice, and who fought for what was right. And in doing so, let us pray that the littlest bit of good can come out of this. Let us hope that the death of this man, held in such high regard by both of our nations, can bring the Commonwealth of Australonesia and the Republic of South Africa closer together, even in just the smallest way."

As he drew the speech to a conclusion, Prime Minister Stephens, along with Xola, walked off of their stage and outside the room, despite the cries of the press. "Mister Prime Minister!", "Mr. Executive Deputy President!", "A question, sir."

As they walked off and parted ways, the Prime Minister said to Xola "Mr. Xola, My offer still stands. When this has settled over, bring it to your National Assembly."

"I will, Mr. Stephens," nodded the new President of South Africa, departing by way of a relatively nondescript Toyota SUV, as opposed to his limousine, now being used as a decoy.

The surf crashed and boomed as the hooded figure climbed the steps to a huge mansion on a rocky cliff. It was windy and rainy, visibility was at about 10 feet with the fog. The figure at last reached the heavy wooden doors of the mansion. He punched in a code and opened the doors. Several security cameras swiviled, watching him. Should the captain of security precieve him as a threat, there were mounted turrets in the floor, walls, and ceiling. The man continued onward, down to the basement of the mansion. He opened another door and stepped inside, shrugging off his robe to reveal he was actually a women. She was tall, about 6,0, and wore battle armor underneath. In the room was a long handsome table, made of the finest wood. At the end of the table sat a computer. Though the speakers on the computer a voice spoke. "It was done, I see." The voice, though made mecanical by the speakers, nevertheless held a tone of darkness. "Yes." the women bowed her head. "It was done as the Ncguka was leaving the confrence." "Good. I take it the evedince has been planted?" "Yes, an Xiscapian sniper seal was left in one of the buildings. My assassin preformed most admiribly." "Now we are one step closer to the completion of Operation Total War. When Australonesia discovers the Xiscapian seal, they will put two and two together and blame Xiscapia. War will start, and Xiscapia will crush this upstart nation. Then we will be rid of them forever."

Special Agent Nick Hartford reached into his coat pocket at took out a cigarette. Lighting it, he put the cigarette in his mouth. "Sir, we've found the spot!" yelled one of the six Federal Police officers as they rushed towards him. "It has some sort of seal but we can't recognize it."

"Oh yeah?" Hartford asked casually, as he took a puff of his cigarette. "Well then take me to it." The men lead Hartford down a block, to a building that barely had a view of the crime scene. "Well, for this to be the building," he mused, "the shooter must have been on the roof. It's the only way." The officers looked triumphant as they silently brought Hartford inside and up the elevator.

Once on the top floor, they located a ladder that lead up to the roof. They climbed up, and Hartford examined the area. "Well, this must be the direction our sniper set up from," he said, walking towards the edge of the roof. "Ah, and this must be the seal. I can't seem to place it either." Hartford place the cigarette in his mouth, reached into his pocket, and grabbed out a cell phone. He took a picture of the seal and, in moments, it was being analyzed by ASIO's crime lab.

His answer came in the form of a text message. It was one word. Xiscapian. "Christ, the seal's Xiscapian. It was the Xiscapians who assassinated the South African President." He turned to the policemen "Alright," he said, "do whatever it is you want to do, then close up shop. I have all of the information I need."

Once more on the day, the Prime Minister of Australonesia ascended to a podium in the Lodge's press room. Dignified and solemn, he grasped either side of the golden-brown podium and began another speech.

"Ladies and Gentlemen of the Press, people of Australonesia, I come before you with grave news. As you all know, President Ncguka was assassinated earlier today. The actions of the assassin shook the foundations of both South Africa, and their close ally, the Commonwealth of Australonesia.

As you may also know, the Australonesian Security Intelligence Organization, along with the Australonesian Federal Police Department, began an investigation into the matter. Only hours ago, did they solve their case. The Australonesian Commonwealth has strong evidence to support our claim, that President Ncguka was assassinated under orders from the nation, Xiscapia.

We are giving Xiscapia the next twenty-four hours to explain themselves. If the Xiscapians do not have satisfactory reasons for the death of President Ncguka, as well as evidence to support them, we will be forced to take action.

That is all ladies and gentlemen. Good night and may God bless Australonesia."

Among the chaos of responding to a terrorist attack and repairing damage caused to the New Manthian satellite network, someone finds the time to place a report on the recent death of the South African president. Someone notices its importance, and before long the story is sitting on the desk of the Denomination of Strategy second in command, Ismail al-Mahoul.

"So the South African president is dead." he says to the major who had delivered the report, leaning back in his chair. "And with their president just assassinated while under Australonesian protection, I bet the ordinary South African will have serious second thoughts about whether the Empire can carry through on its promises of protection."

"Sir?" The Defense Minister said, realising that when the General-Secretary said that, it usually ment his forces were going to get involved.

"We should use this to our advantage. Defense Minister, you are to prepare to invade Mozambique. Foreign Minister, you are to issue a statement condemning Australonesia Imperialism in the southern region of Africa and state that we are going to take in states for their own protection."

The Foreign Minister blinked, once, twice, thrice... "But sir... I dont think that will fly.."

But the General-Secretary wasnt listening, and what the General-Secretary wanted, he got.

Official Statement from the TSRT Government
"We hereby officially condemn the Imperialisation of South Africa by the Commonwealth of Australonesia. We fear that their greediness will not end here, but extend itself northwards, in light of this we are going to bring under our protection unnamed nationstates in the Southern Region of Africa to prevent further Imperialisation."

An servent slipped into the room. The women, head of a mercenariy group known as Smite Flash which deals in assinations, black market deals, thefts, and sabotage, had long left the room. The computor too, was gone. In it's place sat a man. He was short, a mere 5,5, with green eyes, long dark hair, and pale skin. He wore a black jumpsuit with a holsteried pistol and several combat knives in the belt. This man was Raken, second-in-command and most trusted advisor to the shadowy man who had engginered all this, who he knew only as "The Baron." The servent slid up to the Raken and pressed a memo into his hands, then departed. Raken read over the memo. It was from one of his goverment insiders. It stated that two additional countrys may get involved. One, known as The Red Tide2, was taking advantage of a leaderless South Africa and invading. The other was looking in on the mercenariy operation involving the assination of the South African President. Thirdly, it stated that the seal had been found and the Xiscapains contacted by Australonesia, and that the assination was being investigated. Raken tossed the memo contempuiosly aside into a small slot, were it burst into flames and was incinerated. "So," Raken said aloud to the empty room, "more nations. This is good. The more goverment officals around, the more confusion and red tape, another war, accusions flying like mad... This is exactly the kind of choas we need to carry out the plan. With oppressers on two diffrent sides and so many nations taking an intrest, Australonesia will either be destroyed or compromised, leaving us free to loot the dying country. On the Accusations and Aggressions of Red Tide

------------

Recently, some in the international arena have condemned the Commonwealth of Australonesia in its quest to aid the less fortunate and less developed. The Totalitarian State of Red Tide, primarily, has denounced Australonesia as greedy, implying that we are advocating a forceful policy of invasion and colonialism on our African brothers.

The reality of the situation, as is obvious to any person who has seriously observed current affairs, is clear and simple. The Commonwealth of Australonesia, being one of the more powerful, politically stable, and economically developed nations of the immediate region, believes thoroughly that is our responsibility to take under our wing and help develop struggling nations. Any and all nations that have ever been associated with Australonesia in such a manner have done so of their own accord and gone through their nation's own legal methods to do so.

It is also worth note that, despite their claims of greedy Australonesian imperialism, Red Tide is sending its own military forces to Mozambique, without any formal agreement of the nation's legitimate government. This constitutes an obvious act of war on Mozambique, in Australonesia's eyes, and a grave threat to our dear allies in South Africa.

In response, the Commonwealth of Australonesia, with the authority of our South African friends, are deploying military forces to South Africa, to bolster the ranks of the South African National Defense Force.

Faithfully,
Hamish McCormack,
Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs

On the Xiscapian Assassination

------------

As is now very common knowledge, President Ncguka of the Republic of South Africa was shot and killed today in a successful assassination attempt. Immediately, Federal Police forces and components of the Security Intelligence Organization were deployed on-scene to perform an intensive investigation.

The investigation yielded sufficient evidence that the President's assassin was a uniformed member of the Xiscapian military. Specifically, he was a Xiscapian Sniper Elite. After uncovering the evidence, primarily a seal of the aforementioned rank and station. Xiscapia was warned that they would have to face repercussions if they did not provide a satisfactory response,

The Xiscapian emperor, instead of providing a reason for the assassination, or even presenting a reasonable pretense that he made no such order, tried to deflect the accusation, ridiculously claiming that his government had given 'no order' even concerning Australonesia since it's conception.

This is a pitiful, but costly attempt at deceit and its price shall be paid in full. Several hours ago, units of the RAAF were detatched to launch a series of air strikes upon Xiscapia and should arrive shortly.

All was quiet in the military base. It was 11:00 at night, and most were in bed. Only a few night watchmen stood guard, looking though infared goggles out into the forest surronding the base. In the radar bunker there was a sudden ping. Then another. Then another. Soon the radar was filled with pings, aircraft headed towards them. The radar operator stared at the radar, then grabbed the microphone. "Red Alert, Red Alert, we are about to come under attack by enemy aircraft, this is not a drill, repeat, this is no t a drill! Man the AA guns! Get the fighters into the air, on the double! Lights came on and Klaxons blared, men dressed and ran about. In the hanger jets were already fueled and loaded, waiting for their pilots. Jets bearing the Australonesia symbol roared over the base, dropping bombs. A barrick house, a motor pool, and an officers quarters all exploded into flame, sending debries everywhere. Xiscapian jet fighters were being launched into the air now, and flak guns and SAM missile launchers began firing into the air. One of the Australonesia jets exploded in the air, the flak ripping it apart. More jets began to fall, fireballs that lit the night. In time the guns stopped firing and the planes landed. A total of 9 enemy bombers had been shot down. 5 buildings, including a hanger and another barrick, had been destroyed. Three Xiscapian jets had been shot down, and there was 24 ground casualties, and 12 wounded. Reports began coming in that attacks like that had been coming in all over the country, on air bases, army barricks, and industrial centers alike. The Emperor made a speech later that day during the late afternoon. "My fellow countrymen, today the Holy Emperor of Xiscapia has come under attack. Australonesian bombers came and killed many of our soldiers, pilots, and even some civilians. In response to this cowardly attack I have authorized the Grand Army of Xiscapia, the Navy, and the Air Force into service. We have no choice. We are now at war with Australonesia. In two days time we will begin mobilizing towards Australonesia. My only hope is that the war will be short and our two countries can come to an understanding..."

As the first Chinook helicopters of the newly-dubbed Task Force South Africa landed in a South African National Defense Force airfield, Lieutenant General Marcus Elgin stepped out to greet the local South African commanding officer.

A white, Germanic-looking fellow in full parade dress walked up to General Elgin. The man's jacket was adorned with medals and ribbons, including an Honoris Crux and mementos of the South African border wars. "Hallo," the man grasped General Elgin's hand and shook it firmly.
"My name is General Jonas De Beers. I am the commanding officer of this outpost."

"Hello, General, it's good to meet you, I'm Lt. General Elgin; however, we are in a rush to secure the border," replied Elgin.

"Ah yes, I was informed of this. My orders are to pull out once your force is assembled, we are transferring en masse to a base further from the Mozambique border."

"Ah, thanks very much, General. As you can see, my men are landing now and should be all here within the next two hours. We will be patrolling the entire border by nightfall."

"Very well," said the South African general, "I will begin preparations to pull out immediately."

The rest had been handed over to the NKVD for interrogation and termination. At the ports, troops and all sorts of heavy equipment were being unloaded.

Some squads went around, confiscating guns from known weapon owners, those who resisted were simply shot. Already, 75,000 more men in two armored divisions and a mechanized-infantry division had come ashore and were assembling just North of the city. Ameranda Banks stood for a moment in the Xiscapian Navy Center, located in the port city of Slipspell. Then she walked out of the building into the parking lot. The cool sea breeze washed over her as she walked to her car. There was a sudden crack and her car's right front tire deflated with a rush of air. Ameranda, having spent years in the Navy and knew what rifle fire sounds like, dove behind her car as another shot shattered her windshield. She took out her pistol but couldn't spot the sniper. There was a third shot and Ameranda was thrown onto her back, her pistol clattering away, her left leg on fire. She helplessly scrabbled for her pistol but it was too far away. A man stepped from the shadows, a sniper rifle held in his hands, and began walking towards her. "He means to finish me off!" thought Ameranda, and she clutched her bleeding leg, feeling her boot. The man came closer, now a mere four feet away, and lifted his rifle. Ameranda yanked her knife from the hidden sheath in her boot and threw it at the man. The struck him in the throat, making him stumble back and fire his rifle into the air before falling over, dead. Ameranda smiled in satisfaction before she passed out, hearing shouts and sirens in the distance.

Ranth couldn't actually see her, of course, but he was waiting for news from the surgeon. The sniper had been dead by the time soldiers, cops, and paramedics had gotten there. There was no evedince to who he was. No wallet with I.D., no serial number on the rifle, no listing of his face, DNA, or fingerprints in the database. Nothing. The Brass had jumped to the conclusion that the sniper had been Australonesia Elite, but there was no evidence to support this. The surgeon entered the room. Major Ranth stood up. "Good evening sir, I'm Major Ranth, a soldier in the Navy. I'm here about the well-being of our commander, Mrs. Ameranda Banks." "Yes, yes," said the surgeon, looking tired, "She'll live. Sniper bullet to the leg, shattered part of the bone. She lost alot of blood, too. She'll be in a wheelchair for a few weeks, then to crutchs, and I'm afraid she'll limb sightly for the rest of her life, but she will still be able to run, jump, kick, and so on. She'll be staying here for a few days, so we can be sure of the results of surgery, but she's ok. She's awake now, if you'd like to talk to her." "Yes, please." "Follow me then." The surgeon led Ranth down the hall and into a patient ward. Ameranda was sitting up in bed, her legs swung over the side of the bed. The doctor bowed himself out, leaving Ranth and Ameranda alone. Before Ranth could talk Ameranda burst out. "Did you get him? The sniper?" "No, you did." said Ranth, smiling. "We came to the parking lot to find you passed out and the sniper with a knife in his neck. He's dead. No I.D., at all." Ameranda shook her short red hair out of her face as she thought. "Criminal? Some kind of Mafia?" "Perhaps. We'll check our sources in the XGIA and the NCIA." Ameranda stretched out her long legs, wincing as she did so, and Ranth had to struggle to keep his eyes on her face. "Well, Commander Robs will have to take control of the Navy. May the gods help him."
