President Giovanni Nikita sat at the round table staring at the oak paneling thinking about the meeting to come; or rather, if anyone would bother to show up. He pondered on the idea that maybe no one would show up simply because of the fact that his nation was in fact so young.

Beside him Prime Minister Guido Rossi sat, he was leaning back in his chair smoking a cigarette, his glasses were off sitting on the table. His black hair was ruffled up from the constant activity of his hand running through it. He let out a sigh and stood up; quietly saying he was paying a visit to the mens room.

Giovanni glanced around the room, Commonwealth Soldiers guarded every entrance and exit. Their blue uniforms in stark contrast to the white walls behind them. The M4 Carbines they held were weapons safe, but that would change in the event of trouble. They had orders to protect the President and the Prime Minister at all costs. Giovanni new that the Croatian soldiers to his left would be particurally vicious should anyone threaten either him or the Prime Minister.

A secretary quickly walked into the romm, paying no attention to the soldiers on either side of her as she walked in. She marched straight up to the President.

"Mr. President, the foreign diplomats are here."

"Good, good, send them in."

"Yes sir."

(the purpose of this meeting is to discuss international foreign policy and possible alliances the Commonwealth may become involved in.)

President Giovanni stood up, beside him Prime Minister Rossi, and greeted the foreign delagates as they arrived. He hoped this meeting would go well. The guards around the doors closed and locked them and the meeting came to order.

"Now I know that the Commonwealth is a new nation, and you may have come here with a feeling of apprehension," said Giovanni, "but during this meeting I hope to dispel such feelings. We will discuss tonight, the nature of the political situation the Commonwealth will be entering."

Ambassador Johnathan Conwell was a patient man. His blue eyes were amplified by chic glasses, a gift from his daughter for his sixty-fifth birthday last month. The graying remains of a once dark head of hair sat atop a wrinkled face, but there was much happiness in the lines that marked his face. He had lead a full life to this point, and was very pleased with his lot in the world. It brought him peace to think that he ensured that same feeling for his nation, and that was his mission here.

The nation of Sarorcis had emerged very recently, and the Dual Monarchs had been quick in granting Ambassador Conwell diplomatic leave to the country. The flight had been excellent, and his stay in the country had thus far been delightfully uneventful. The guards around the room emanated a stern sense of power, a bit overbearing in the pacifist Ambassador's eyes, but the secretary had been lovely, and she now returned from the President's Chambers.

"Ambassador Conwell," her voice rang, a bit of question tinging the dialect while she searched the room for him. "Ah, yes, Ambassador Conwell. President Nikita and Prime Minister Rossi are ready to see you now."

Thanking the secretary with a smile, Johnathan followed the girl into the chamber, eager to make negotiations.

"Ah, Ambassador Conwell, welcome to Sarorcis. I hope you have found your stay in my country to you liking." President Nikita motioned to the guards around the room to close the doors again.

"Chiudere le porte, questa riunione è privata." he said.

He again turned and shook the Ambassadors hand,

"You are the first of many to come to this meeting, I hope that all negotiations go smoothly. Please sit down."

Nikita led Ambassador Conwell to a seat beside the Prime Minister and asked him if he would like something to drink before the meeting started.

The Prime Minister leaned over and offered the Ambassador a cigarette, Nikita swiftly pulled the cigarettes out of Rossi's hands and slid them down the table into a trash can.

"There had been quite enough smoking for one night Mr. Prime Minister, it is really a disgusting habit..."

Rossi blew off this comment with a wave of his hand and resumed small talk with the Ambassador.

"So how do you find the Commonwealth Ambassador?"

Conwell declined the drink with a wave of his hand. "No thank you, Mr. President. I've told my children that I will stop drinking, and I think it's high time I kept up on promise. Your nation is absolutely beautiful, but tell me Sir, if I may be so bold as to inquire, a bit about the history of your nation. I am quite the history buff you see, and I am more than a little interested in the story of your people."

"The history of the Commonwealth, well I am the third President, before me was, Lathrin, and Belavin. Lathrin was the first President, he came to power after the Third Balkan Wars. In the wake of the war, most of the Balkan Peninsula was in ruins. Italy stepped in a made massive efforts to aide the failing nations of the Balkans in recovery. When all atempts failed and civil war broke out in many of the Balkan nations, Italy stepped in and seized control in the persuit of a lasting peace. For ten years the Commonwealth was the Italian-Balkan Republic. When President Lathrin was elected he immediatly ceaded control of every outlieing territory autonomy. The nations were reluctant to leave Italy so fast so a diplomat from Bonsnia-Herzegovina proposed an alliance between the nations that now make up the Commonwealth. A new charter and constitution were drafted and voted upon by the people of each nation and the Commonwealth was created. The Commonwealth and its member nations have since went through and unprecendented period of economic success, and peaceful diplomacy. The Commonwealth of Sarorcis has not been in a single major war since its creation. I suppose that is a point that I can brag about, for now at least. Is there anything in particular that you would like to know?"

Giovanni Nikita was an Italian by birth and he had seen the power of the Italian Army, the Commonwealth only served to make his country much more powerful. The member nations of the Commonwealth would meet naught but prosperity so long as the obeyed Common Law and the elected President. The President is always Italian, but according to Common Law the Prime Minister may never be Italian. Rossi was born in Croatia, he had been elected Prime Minister a month after Nikita had been elected President by popular vote.

OOC: It would appear that the single diplomat who showed up has dropped the thread, so.....I still have lots of room, this is supposed to be an international meeting after all.

Sealed letter to President Giovanni Nikita of the Sarorcis Commonwealth

It is with great pleasure that I welecome you to the diplomatic world of international relations. I am afraid I can not send an ambassador so suddenly to meet with you in person, but I would still like to express the interest of the Dictorial Republic in your growth and prosperity. Your history is not something I am familliar with, and I apologise for that, however I hope that will not hinder potential relations.

Once again, welecome to the international world, and we wish you the best of luck. If there is anything we can do to assist your initial growth please feel free to bring it up, it may help create further relations.

President Giovanni's secretary entered the room and quickly handed him the letter. Giovanni waved a Croatian Guard and asked to borrow his knife, the guard obliged and handed over the blade, Giovanni quickly slit the letter open, handed the blade back, and began to read.

His eyes flicked from side to side as he read the letter. He signaled for his secretary to be brought back in. He told her to fetch him a pen and paper. Once he had recieved the neccasary writing equipement he quickly penned his responce.

TO: - Commanding Officer of External Relations,
Admiral Panchito Guanikeyu
The Dictorial Republic of Sumer,

It is unfortunate that you could not provide and ambassador to the meeting but it is not a terrible misfortune. If your nation feels the urge to aide the Commonwealth, there are certain points to which I want to acertain. Trade between our nations is predominate of the many things we will need to discuss. My nation is a Socialist Commonwealth and we have no trade barriers. If your nation is also practicing free-trade I would be happy to instruct my Minister of Trade to draft a trade agreement between our sovereign nations. But alas, the decision is not entirely upon me to decide, by Common Law the draft, if approved by myself and your government, will have to be voted upon and approved by the Common Council of the Commonwealth; so forgive me if trade negotiations take longer than you or I would like. If you have further questions please send another letter, or an ambassador to discuss these problems in more detail.

Commonwealth President,

Giovanni Nikita
