Open OOC thread - Pachacutec's War - Past and Modern Tech welcome

Tahuantinsuyu Empire
18-05-2007, 10:16
This is to accompany the current war in South America, which appears to be finally taking off.

Background

Tahuantinsuyu is one local spelling of the name given by its people to the Inca Empire. Its ancient history is a little different: Pizarro was defeated, but the empire was still ravaged by European diseases, and eventually fell to later Spanish forces.

Lasting longer meant that the Inca's people maintain a stronger identity, and fighting harder meant that they were oppressed even more terribly by the states that grew-up over them.

As such there is deeper Quechua nationalism and greater resentment of the Hispanic populations, and greater divides between them.

A recent revolt over-threw the Hispanic-dominated governments of Peru, Chile, Ecuador, and Bolivia, and saw part of northwestern Argentina and southern Colombia declare loyalty to Pachacutec Inca, who then over-ran Paraguay.

Millions of Hispanic and foreign refugees fled those nations, and many more were killed in uncontrolled and spontaneous revenge riots. Surrounding nations are overwhelmed with refugees, and many -like Colombia- already have their own problems with civil war and drug cartels.

Now Pachacutec's top General, Chalcuchima, has invaded Colombia.

The Inca have ten times as many soldiers as Colombia can muster, and they are all skilled warriors and religious fanatics, but only a minority have modern weapons. Chalcuchima, then, believes that his only chance for victory is to shock the enemy into retreat or surrender by using massive brutality.

I'll be in as the Vetalian Mafia, if possible. We've got our coca and cocaine processing facilities in Colombia and other parts of the region, so we're not inclined to support anyone that threatens the status quo and our relationship with the governments of the area. And since we're currently involved in the Trivalvian civil war, we'd need the money in order to fund our work for some corporations in that conflict.

We'd supply anti-Inca forces with weapons and supplies, and provide them with cash to fund their war effort. I imagine we could also do some kidnapping and extortion against the Inca.

I am interested in participating in this conflict, however, I offer to you either of these ways of 'participation'

A) Members of the 'New Dawn' quasi-terrorist superpower, using the conflict as a way to find new followers for the rising Dawn of the Old Empire. A small group of 'Oracle' special operations personnel who will teach your men all aspects of sneaky and sabotage.

or

B)
High Reicha Executive Operators 3rd Battalion - commonly known as 'the Carrion Corps' throughout Reicha due to their seemingly innate tendency to scavenge everything from the battlefield like carrion feeders such as Vultures and Hyenas, and then sell it back to their employers...

This is a Private Military Company that operates within the High Reicha sector of the Black Reich, and has made a considerable name for itself against New Dawn terrorist cells...

I posted getting in. My nation's history involves a struggle with the Iberians (Spanish, but in my history they are part of a greater European nation I am essentially in a cold war with as NPC) over the status of the Taino and Carib peoples and lands in roughly 1500CE. The end result of this is the incorporation of the Taino lands, through peaceful and voluntary means, into the Sumerian Dictorial Republic around 1680CE. So I would have a sizeable, well off Central American population who might have a vested interest in your status. Alongside that, if I were to RP my territory in the geographic region, I would have a vested interest of having a strong ally nearby who I would not need to so heavily defend from. Territorially I hold the southern half of Florida and all of the Carribean islands. But I don't have to RP them as actually existing in your geographic region if it would get in the way.

Either way, I'm a fan of historical civilization nations, and am looking for something to be involved in. Especially looking to broaden my sphere of influence through freindly ties.

Tahuantinsuyu Empire, I'd like to congratulate you on taking such an imaginative approach to your nation. It certainly makes a change from "lol democracy" or "lol empire" that seems to be ten a penny :p

Me and Atopiana will be looking to secure the release of the Hispanics and Catholics from the control of the Tahuantinsuyu Empire through any and all means necessary.

Thanks for all the interest, people!

Vetalia: That sounds quite reasonable. I can't argue with the realistic idea of criminal factions being deeply concerned by the idea of Incan theocracy in Colombia, which in the rest of the Empire has already taken a monopoly on the cocaine industry and executed hundreds of cartel members.

The Black Reich: At the moment the resurgence of Inca nationalism is quite new and the worship of Inti (and his personified descendant, the Inca) rampantly popular amongst the natives, while I imagine that, in reaction, Catholicism in the threatened territories is also experiencing an extreme turn, so I am not sure if the New Dawn movement would find major interest. However the Inca would certainly be interested in hiring the Carrion Corps to serve in association with his foreign-legion, The Regiment of the Children of the Darkness if they would be willing to side with him. Rewards would include a share of anything they can plunder plus performance incentives in the form of silver, gold, rare skins, and fine fabrics, along with the possibility of retirement within the Empire and a generous pension in land and goods.

Dostanuot Loj: Ooh, Sumerians, eh? Well, I have no objection to considering your Caribbean claims adjacent to my own version of South America. At the moment I consider the Aztec National League to exist on the opposite side of Colombia, but I'm not sure if he's still around, anyway. The Inca only really respects independent, strong, ancient empires and their princes, and is keen for steady relations with the like.

Everyone: As I said, apologies, I'm a little distracted this weekend, but I'm trying to keep up. I want to make sure that people understand a few things, anyway.

The Inca have no WMDs, and certainly no anthrax. We do have jungle-crafted poisons which have been used in executions and in battle.

I notice that things progressed from, "we ask that you allow us to remove ethnic hispanics from Colombia" to chemical weapons strikes and strategic bombing of population centres without me having chance to post in between, which possibly wasn't ideal!

I suppose that I'll go along with it, for now, and try to incorporate it into the storyline, but I ask that everyone bear in mind the rate at which things have progressed and escalated already when responding to whatever I post-up.

Anyway, thanks again for the interest so far.

Alright, I'll post an intro tomorrow. Right now, I need to go to bed.

I won't post again until you get a chance to respond.

Can I interest you in some NBC defenses? :) Just to even stuff out. Assume you have a large shipment from interested parties - Fuchs decontaminant vehicles and the like. Otherwise I think my latest assault will have, er, depopulated your nation to the extent that you'll just, well, um. Yeh.

Have some NBC defences on me! :D
