Right, so here's the basic deal how this will go, ESS guys.

The poll here's to outline the basic core of their military (I've got aliens from a few of the best sources up there...), and then just state other things/units/vehicles that you'd like to see in the invasion and I'll do my best to include the best of those in.

If you could please also indicate in your post which option you voted for (because some non-ESSers are bound to vote here).

This is multiple-choice, so choose as many as you wish, and the number one vote-getter wins.

can we include the grunts from Halo for laughs? And who will RP as the aliens?

I voted for the Covenant, Mandalorians, and the Dominion.

I voted for Helghast and Locust Horde

Dominion/Covenant-esq Combo; and I'd like to see some of the Walkers and tech from the Combine in HL2 just to throw some stuff in. so far I like the style of the Aliens that you played AB; sorta reminds me of the Chig from Space above and Beyond

Yuuzhan Vong, flood and covenant

Still laying low until the end of the week despite things looking calmer than before, but I say Dominion/Covenant/Helghast. Especially in perhaps using the Jem'Hadar "As of this moment, we are all dead men. We fight this day to reclaim our lives. Remember... Obedience brings Victory. VICTORY IS LIFE!" ethos and Helghast weaponry/vehicles in combination. The last get my vote because proverbial Jem'Hadar "Combined-Arms Doctrine" doesn't exist, as DS9 and Star Trek-in-general's infantry/orbital-fire centric warfare model makes plain. As you said when first proposing them, Helghast weaponry would make them advanced, and the Covenant/Dominion ethos would make them formidable warriors of honor; but not so advanced or fearsome as to even be an IC godmod compared to Earth forces.

Either the Covenant, Yuuzhan Vong or the Chimera

I'm going to vote for the only ones I have heard of, either the Locust or the Covenant.

The only race i've heard of would be the Covenant, so I voted for those guys. I like the whole "religious warrior" deal they have going on.

My ideas for the alien race...

Vehicles and weapons....the flying things that you mentioned earlier in the IC thread AB look good, it's really up to you if that's their main flying fighters, or elite fighters, or what. Probably huge transports would also be good. For ground vehicles, any form of tanks and light combat vehicles would be ok (from Halo, maybe? - warghogs, scorpion tanks).

Weapons I would assume be something like plasma, so perhaps what the Covenant used could be good - and, of course, if we're going to have Flood/Locust like aliens, just hand-to-hand (or in this case, alien extremity-to-hand) combat would be cool too. Imagine billions of Flood and Locust advancing up a hillside towards an awaiting army, resistance at first, but then the aliens devouring the army....and then the cities....

The general alien army would really be just a roiling mass of the smaller aliens (Flood, locust?) supported by tanks and combat vehicles (covenants, maldorians?) and then the flying vehicles (like banshees, then the things AB had) and huge armed transports plus the AB flying things laying waste from the sky, all moving quickly towards their goal. Scary.

And maybe we should have a name for these? By no account take what I say into heavy consideration, but a common name for the aliens is probably better than calling them "aliens". My proposal....The Other. And invididual aliens as The Others. Stupid, I know...but the words "The Other" seem creepy in a way.

The fighters I used there were just based off of Halo's Seraphs (teardrop design with frontal firing prongs). Could be effective as a more dedicated interceptor.

Anyway, my votes: Covenant, Flood, and Mandalorians.

They'll certainly have energy weapons/plasma weapons of sorts, but I'll probaly throw in projectile weapons too, since almost all FT games, movies, etc. have physical weaponry still in use.

Totalling up the poll numbers-

By looking at your guys's posts alone, the Covenant still blew out everyone else (possibly the poll info is correct...)

The Dominion and Locust were tied for 2nd somewhat farther down, and the Flood and Mandalorians a bit further.

Of course, if we want to go by the poll (which, according to posts, is somewhat skewed by other non-ESS people voting), then it'd be Covenant, then Flood/Mandos, then Locust/Dominion.

Same guys, still.

I'll see how I can mix those five up (but the Covenant will be the primary source).

Can I play this? If so, I like the covenant idea.
