Soldiers of Fortune for the Cities of Gold?

Tahuantinsuyu Empire

*First of all, welcome to Tahuantinsuyu, the Empire of the Incas.

Our Empire is part history, part fiction, and now restoring itself almost to its pre-Colombian form, even though that means destroying modern infrastructure and purging the educated European-origin population.

Now, as should become evident in this thread (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=515345), having an army made largely of men with slings and clubs can make empire-building difficult in 2007. I have been given the idea, there, of hiring mercenaries to serve the Inca while he tries to complete the conquest of South America, starting with Colombia. Experts from the modern world to balance the mass ranks of talented but almost bronze-age Quechua warriors.

In this thread I want to see if there's any interest in getting people involved in the other thread (linked above) perhaps playing foreign mercenaries seeking their fortune in the Inca's campaign.

I'd like to get good players to take an interest in Tahuantinsuyu Empire by recording their characters' experiences in what is likely to be a highly unusual and traumatic adventure through the Andes and the Amazon.

I'm not really looking to, 'buy' an army of mercenaries and then RP them myself, but I would like a few foreign characters getting involved under the control of their own players.

IC to follow!*

Cusco, navel of the world

High in his imperial capital, Pachacutec Inca considers a suggestion put to him that foreign mercenaries might fill gaps in his reorganising forces. At first hesitant, the Inca ultimately concludes that there is a place for such warriors of fortune, and orders the creation of a unit to be known as The Regiment of the Children of the Darkness, a reference to non-imperial persons' exclusion from the domain of the Children of the Sun.

Pachacutec offers silver, gold, fine fabric, and rare skins to foreign warriors able to prove themselves worthy of his armies and fit to follow the Inca code, Ama Sua, Ama Kjella, Ama Lllulla. Those serving sufficiently well may be given the opportunity to settle in the conquered territories and take positions as army officers or local curacas once they have served out a campaign of enough importance.

General Chalcuchima's warriors are brave and cunning, and have sacked towns and slain soldiers in their sleep. But facing tanks and field artillery they, and their officers, are often stumped, threatening the cohesion and pace of the entire campaign. The riches of the ancient and romantic people's of the Andes await brave warriors with the skills to deserve them.

OOC:
We'd be interested in sending 15 of our Falcon elite soldier's as mercenarys to the Incan army.
