INDEPENDENT OVERVIEW:
The Ibaneza People's Military (IPM) was formed from the militia units that took part in the Socialist Revolution and is tasked with the defence of the People's Republic from both internal and external dissent. The IPM currently works on a 'Home Plus Minor' doctrine; this entails the IPM maintaining enough forces to fight a minor conflict abroad and still maintain an adequate defence of the Ibanezan mainland.
The IPM has recently gone massive investment, and now has access to a wide variety of modern military hardware and technology. However, in the habitual manner of the IPM, older units are unlikely to be decommissioned in the near future. As an example, Romeo Class submarines will patrol coastal waters alongside Akula class nuclear boats until such a time when the abundance of modern equipment allows such units to be decommissioned, sold, or retired into training duties. The IPM now stands as a competantly armed force, but currently lacks the ability to deploy large numbers of troops across long distances overseas.
