At 6:43am this morning, Alfreda Desdemona, Mother of the Revolution, General Secretary of the Ibaneza United People’s Workers Party, Chairperson of the National Defence Committee, and President of the Ibaneza People’s Republic, died of heart problems age 53.
The Mother of the Revolution, who fought so valiantly in Parliament and on the streets for the freedom of the people and the destruction of Bourgeoisie oppression, was admitted to Ibaneza City’s National People’s Party Hospital on Broadswing Street, Lenin District, suffering heart complaints following work late into the night at the Parliament building. Four hours later, doctors announced the President dead.
Acting swiftly, an Extraordinary Meeting of the Congress of United Workers chose and ratified Vice-President Alexander Somersby as the next President of the People’s Republic. However, in a heroic and selfless display so self-devotion to the Revolution and its leader, Vice-President Somersby declined the title of President of the People’s Republic. Speaking in a session to the Parliament filled with heroic workers exercising their democratic right to watch their vanguard at work, Vice-President Somersby explained that the Presidency was now sacred due to the work of Alfreda, and that nobody could take her place.
“Alfreda Desdemona was the architect of the Socialist Revolution,” Vice-President Somersby declared. “She fought valiantly for the People and the Country to develop the principles of National Communism that we live by today. Nobody could ever improve on her glorious work.”
Instead, Vice-President Somersby moved to install Comrade Alfreda as posthumous Eternal President of the Ibaneza People’s Republic, and promptly resigned his position as Vice-President of the People’s Republic as a gesture to the impossibility of replacing Comrade Alfreda. However, at massive reluctance and much persuasion by the Congress, combined with constant ovation from the public galleries, Comrade Somersby accepted the positions of Chairperson of the National Defence Committee and General Secretary of the Ibaneza United People’s Workers Party (IUPWP) to continue the glorious work of the Socialist Revolution placed in motion by President Desdemona.
The now-General Secretary Somersby pledged to continue the concepts of National Communism, to develop the industrial base of the country, and encourage the nationalistic sentiments of the Ibaneza People. Furthermore, Comrade Somersby announced a re-organisation of economic activity along the grounds of Socialist Capitalism. The General Secretary outlined an economic programme to group different economic areas under the guidance of State Corporations managed by democratically elected officials of the IUPWP, who would organise the production and sale of goods and services along the foundations of the capitalist structure by analysing the market forces of supply and demand. However, the General Secretary expressed, this would be different from the oppressive Capitalist system as the State Corporations would work to a ‘break-even’ system of economic production, where total revenue would equal total cost, thus allowing the workers to receive wages equal to their true value in the productive system. The General Secretary christened this system ‘Socialist Capitalism’, which was immediately accepted by the Congress as national policy.
Furthermore, the General Secretary promised an increase in military spending and finance for the Ibaneza People’s Committee for State Security (IPCSS), the heroic men and women who seek out enemies of the people and quash the counter-revolutionaries left over for the days of Capitalist Oppression. The General Secretary promised to guard the nation from threats both without and within, and declared May 13 to be a National Holiday for the great President Comrade Alfreda Desdemona amid great cheering from the public galleries.
