Well, I had a poll about this awhile ago, and the reactions were sort of a tie, so I figure I might as well see if anybody signs up. The basic idea is that all the Final Fantasy characters somehow get transported to a different universe, world, whatever you want to call it. How they get transported depends on whos playing the character. Obviosly they meet up, though you can decide to fight each other. Oh, and if you want to you can create your own character, but I have to approve him/her after you post.
