The Trouble with Trouble is it Ain't no Trouble to Find Trouble (ATTN: Kampfers)

Blackhelm Confederacy
13-05-2007, 00:07
The Confederacy might have been going even deeper into isolation, but the Griffincrest Corporation sure wasn't. Mercenaries spent hours at a time pouring over reports coming from the GASN, and finally, they decided to pick a nation to raze. The nation of Kampfers was chosen almost at random to serve as a lesson to any other new nations that would wish to join the GASN and attempt to police the world. What a folly it is, to attempt to be the police of all of NS, to try and help the little guy. It was a dog eat dog world out there, and that was the way that Claudius Griffincrest had intended to keep it.

The Second, Third, and Seventh Fleets, along with their corresponding ground forces were called upon, and soon the ships of the fleets were setting out from their ports, the Second from Redemption, the massive ships of war passing through the Griffincrest sponsored Sea Gate, the Third from Vik, Kamasha, sailing past massive icebergs that were so common around the icey wasteland, and the Seventh from the Campbell Island Groups, leaving behind the snowy oil rich landscapes to rendezvous with the rest of the battle groups. Valentius "Val" Redhammer was chosen as Campaign Commander for the war about to ensue, and within a few hours, Operation Broken Recruit was underway.

The campaign would begin wih a bang, as a pair of GNF stealth ships began to creep into Kampferian national waters, and readied their pair of Tomahawk missiles. Their targets would be the major naval stations of the country, and it would likely come as a complete shock to the nation, as the missiles would begin to fall ten minutes before the Corporation would send the message informing them to surrender to the forces of Griffincrest, or be destroyed.

OOC: Quick tag for my interests and some intel positioning. Kampf, you'll soon have a TG. Blackhelm, you may of course TG me with questions or comments. Thanks both.

Palace of the Revolution Bunker Annex; Tailville DR, Wagdog
General Secretary Carolinus Horridus watched the initial OBSAT reports of ships moving from the Blackhelm Confederacy towards the Armed Republic of Kampfers. "What are they up to, Iliescu?" He had his suspicions, but no more. He'd only just returned from a state visit to Danno10 while the Hatarian Blockade crisis wound down, and was ready to be in the saddle again as much as during the outbreak of Vetaka's war with Clandonia Prime.

The vampire that was Wagdog's defense secretary smoothly averred. "We don't know yet aside from that they're doing it all the same, and actually letting them strike the first blow does us some good of course." Wagdog had taken a great deal of heat for morally backing Vetaka, from the usual suspects of course, and thus things like this had to be handled carefully. "But given the disparities between the two, this is certain to become a UFAN matter. Hence, we must prepare."

"Agreed. Keep DEFCON where it is for now, but take these..." Horridus handed the Defense Secretary the signed mobilization papers. Soon, all that Wagdog could muster both regular and irregular would be arming, which wouldn't be long since Wagdog had come close to such during the late Hatarian Blockade and the ongoing Haven crisis, and then it would most likely be 'into the breach' now that this new one looked opening. "Put the fleets back in harbor on standby, and alert our two groups moving against The Fighting Stars for possible mission-abort in favor of the occupying coalition handling it. We need to keep our reserves up. Move OBSATs over the projected fleet's path and keep it there for now."

"Agreed, Comrade Lord Governor." Although Wagdog's elves also approved of Dominion Commonwealth membership, oddly enough, Iliescu was the only one who could put those two in a sentence with a straight face. Thankfully so, for Horridus' mind. "It shall be done."

Orbit...
Two MkII OBSATS, courtesy of Vetaka way back during the Nicksyllvanian War some half a year prior, began to alter their orbits per command from the Pinkybrain Atoll complex in Wagdog's Crossfire Islands. They moved to join the one currently only just holding the Griffincrest fleet in its field of view, enhancing data on the fleet's movements and composition. Just observing for now, as per their name; but should anything go down, they could both designate for targeting and even engage in missile defense if needed. In short, even before war Wagdog was positioning itself to defend it's sworn UFAN ally; as was only proper under the Vetakan Oath of Loyalty underpinning said allegiance...

Somewhere in a bunker underneath Kampfers Stadt
Fuhrer Richtoff was pacing around nervously. Reports were coming in from OBSAT (ooc: yes, i have one too) of ships belonging to the Blackhelm Confederacy moving towards Kampferian waters. He knew that his army was in dire need of refitting. His nation did not stand a chance. All he could do was rely on Excalibur and the aid of his allies. Even though his army was of poor quality, however, he would prepare them to fight for every inch. The one thing that Kampfers had going for it was its extensive bunker system. He decided against changing the DEFCON level, but instead gave out the orders to quietly mobilize. They wanted as few people to know about this as possible.

Aurum Domus Embassy, Vetaka

A special forces team that had been conducting recon from their base in the embassy since the beginning of the war looked dumbfoundedly at the screen. Satellite pics from Kampfers showed a large fleet approaching. The immediatly called High Command who had only just received the photos minutes before.

"Hey General you seeing what I'm seeing?"

"Holy....we need to help them out. I've contacted the High General and he's given the go ahead. We're organizing a Marine division right now and diverting a battle fleet into the area. We're also readying the Excalibur system, its brand new so we aren't sure of its effectiveness yet. Soldier, take care of yourself"

"Yes, sir"

The sun was setting in Vetalia City as a trio of Anza F625 sedans, along with escort motorcycles and security cars pulled up to the Kampferian embassy in Vetalia. The fluttering flags mounted on the fronts of the vehicles boasted both the white, grey, and black flag of Vetalia along with a central symbol that marked them as Ministry of Defense vehicles.

Presenting their credentials, they walked in to the embassy and were shown to the office of the Kampferian ambassador quickly. There were no pleasantries.

"We have heard of the situation in your nation and we feel the time has come to lend our support. Our Western Command would be able to be dispatched to your nation, taking approximately a week to reach your nation assuming friendly weather. That would be upward of 400 ships including carriers and dreadnoughts, and if we can secure the seas we will be able to send infantry and aerial support to your troops on the ground.

Our Strategic Air Command is already mobilized to Level 3, and is fully ready to be dispatched. The only problem is that we would not be able to resupply or provide maintenance to these forces until we have a secure supply line to Vetalia. Any bombing or airstrike runs would be effectively one-way missions without that logistical line open. As a result, we're going to need to punch through with ships and open that line; once that's done, we can start airlifting and sending supplies by ship, but until then SAC isn't going to be able to do a thing."

"We are willing to support your nation. All you need to do is give us approval to enter your waters, and to sign a formal alliance. Griffincrest will find Kampfers isn't going to bend to their aggression when its allies are at its side."

Proconsul Vlasikov, done speaking, sat with his legal advisors and other officials and awaited the Kampferian response.

John Shindle, the Kampferian ambassador, relaxed in his chair. "That sounds wonderful, sir. The approval has already been granted. The only thing we require is that the Blackhelm Confederation is allowed to fire first. This will greatly improve our standing in the international community, allowing for easier international aid."

"Excellent. I will give the order to the Western Naval Command to begin moving out and they will be at the shores of our nation in approximately three or four days. At that time, we will immediately begin defense preparations against the Griffincrest Corporation forces. If we arrive and hostilities have already commenced, we will engage their forces with all due force."

Roughly a dozen volleys of Tomahawk cruise missiles began to launch from the pair of stealth ships which had seemingly gone unnoticed into the Kampferian waters. Each volley was of two missiles from each ship, making a total of forty eight missiles begin to make their way screaming for the Kampferians major naval facilities.

At the same time, the three fleets had finally begun to join together and were steaming at top speed for enemy waters. On board, missile systems were being prepared to be fired at extreme ranges, not to cause to omuch damage but rather to frighten the civilian populace. It would be some time, however, before the fleets would bein range to launch their missiles.

In space, Griffincrest missile satelites began indentifying and destroying Kampferian satelites one by one, slowly blinding them and taking away their anti-missile defense capabilties. In a few more hours, the Kampferian satelite system would be shut down.

Fleet Admiral Alexei Andrianov stood on the deck of the Indomitable-class dreadnought Vorobey as Western Naval Command sailed towards Kampferian waters. Following standard naval procedure, he had the bulk of the cruisers in front to monitor for submarines and air strikes, while the carriers and command ships remained in the back to provide air cover and to guard the massive supply train that would keep them operating. This force, nearly a million strong, represented the apex of Vetalian force projection.

It was quiet, but he knew they would soon be engaged. Griffincrest's forces were strong, and if the Confederacy were tacitly approving of this venture, they would have quite a handful even with the kind of forces they were mustering. Still, he was confident that they could minimize casualties and open up a supply line to Kampfers.

The cool, comfortable sea breeze blew across the deck and the sky shone with the untold number of of brilliant stars that made up the skies over the sea between Vetalia and Kampfers. It would have been poetically beautiful had the Admiral's mind not been distracted by the upcoming conflict...

The missiles almost all struck their targets dead on. The meager navy, had little damage done, as all 5 of the battleships were currently being recalled from their cruise to DMILL, a protectorate. Several smaller attack craft were sunk, however. Some of the missiles missed their targets, however and hit in the outskirts of the city. Upwards of 500 civilians were injured, as this was a popular shopping area.

In space, Excalibur began to function as intended. While the Griffencrest Corp. fired at the Kampferian sattelites, the Interceptor systems on the excalibur system began firing. One missile got through, and disabled a Kampferian satellite. The Griffencrest Corp had obviously not expected the true power of the Excalibur system. Noting where the missiles had been fired from, one of the 2 HEPL cannons of Excalibur had mirrors oriented to direct its shot at the ships. A beam of light left the cannon, reflected off the mirrors, and shot down towards the sea.

"We are approaching Kampferian waters, sir. No enemy ships are visible at this time, but reverse tracking on those launches estimates they're no more than a couple hundred miles away." The technician watched the various monitoring systems, especially the infrared to see if there were stealth units operating in the area.

The admiral had heard of the Griffincrest salvo on the Kampferian fleet, and it was developing as he had expected. They would have to hunt down their fleet and engage it...waiting would bring nothing but more deadly salvos from Griffincrest ships.

The Republic,
Western Defense District,
Underneath JAB 'Macedon' II

Major Huzaku scanned his eyes across the various computer screens in front of him one last time before rising from his chair and stretching -- his relief would soon arrive and he could get some well deserved rest. Being underground was nothing cheer about, no light save from computer screens and from the cieling -- but at night, to save money, the High Command ordered all but absolutely nessecary lights kept off. He looked around the dark room, hoping to see his relief entering from one of the various enterances, but alas there was no one. The sound of the phone next to his chair going off caused him to jump before reaching down to answer it with a sigh of annoyance.

'Macedon II here, Major Huzaku,' he stated coldly into the receiver.

'Macedon II, Alpha Centuari, I repeat, Alpha Centauri,' said a monotoned voice on the other end.

Huzaku felt his insides tense up, but continued with his nessecary questioning, 'Target?'

'Blackhelm Confederacy,' replied the voice before the line went dead. All that had to be said had been said.

Huzaku immediately sat down in his chairs and his fingers went to work typing in all nessecary information into the system, as a dozen screens popped up, Huzaku didn't seem the least by affected though inside he was prehaps the most nervous he'd been since his daughter was born four years ago. As he finished typing in the data, a picture came on screen of a satellite in space with a Blackhelm signature, it was merely an example of the sallites being targeted -- a last line of defense against possible computer error, that is human intervention. With the press of a single button, all was set into motion.

Across the Western Defense District, various missile sites came to life as ASAT missiles confirmed and re-confirmed their assault coarse before finally launching into the air. At sea, Jagada's constantly active 7th Fleet got the orders from the High Command only moments after the Western District did, and by the time the first wave from Jagada itself were launched, they were launching theirs, some two thousand miles away from Jagada. Needless to say, Blackhelm would be hard pressed to maintain their satellite network for long.

Lost Hills
14-05-2007, 04:43
Lost Hills Department of Defense

The Department of Defense is located at a sprawling complex in the mountains of Lost Hills, riddling the mountain ranges with tunnels and chambers. Much of the military intelligence apparatus is located here, with several thousand analysts working overtime to process the latest data coming in from UAC and satellites.

The mission was simple: eliminate the hunter-killer satellites employed by the Griffincrest Corporation. This wasn't hard, as there was significant activity going on in orbit, with Griffincrest satellites moving to knock out those of Kampfers.

The analysts assigned tracking IDs to the enemy satellites and transmitted the data over a secure line to the air station at Mariposa.

Mariposa Air Station

The air station at Mariposa was buzzing with activity with the news that Lost Hills had decided to move on Griffincrest. It was a secret announcement, and the air crews at the station were excited to finally test their new planes in combat. The Air Force had recently taken delivery of a number of new stealth bombers.

Tonight, however, the bombers remained unfueled and unarmed. A squadron of TSF-620A air superiority fighters were being armed with ASAT missiles, in an effort to eliminate the Griffincrest Corp satellite threat.

The squadron took off into the starry night and fired several dozen missiles at various targets in orbit. LHAF observers took note of a number of explosions, which brilliantly lit up their scopes and confirmed kills.

A regiment of paratroopers suited up and loaded onto their transports, which would take them to Kampfers. Over 4,000 men boarded the planes, although unfortunately, they did not have armor support. They would have to rely on the Marines for that.

International Waters, 500kmfrom Kampfers

All in all, it was a pretty lucky situation. Task Force 53 had been conducting training exercises in the blue sea beyond Kampfers. TF 53 comprises some of the heavy hitters of the LHN, with a command dreadnought, several aircraft carriers, and a couple dozen battleships and cruisers, and more destroyers, frigates, and submarines than you could shake a stick at. Again, a lucky situation. Most importantly, the Task Force had six of the new Sol Invictus Class Armoury ships, each capable of firing thousands upon thousands of missiles at any target.

The Marines in the fleet were aboard a heavy amphibious assault ship, the LHS Peleus, a mighty Conquerer Class HVCN. With LAVs and AAAVs at the ready, it was hoped that they would not end up being used.

The Task Force steamed in a defensive formation toward the combined Griffincrest fleets, with CSA-E AWACs planes scouting out the sea ahead.

Contact.

Doctrine dictated that the Task Force would harass the enemy fleet with missiles and air attacks and then fire with the heavy guns of the dreadnoughts and battleships. Rear Admiral Richardson, Task Force commander, ordered a salvo of anti-ship missiles once the fleet was in range.

They were in range.

The Roundel anti-shipping missiles recently obtained from OMASC/NDI had a maximum range of around 400km, well within the range of the enemy fleets. The missiles would fly at high altitude, and then drop down in altitude and strike critical components of the enemy ships.

Roundels are unique in their technological advancement, part of the reason the LHN decided upon them. OMASC/NDI is renowned for their prowess at manufacturing weaponry, and the Roundels are able to evade enemy gunfire and detect the different between legitimate targets and countermeasures. Coupling this with a number of different guidance systems virtually ensured that many missiles would strike. For the Griffincrest Corporation, this would be all together too many.

Well, the Lost Hills navy would really be heard from today, as 5,000 Roundels were fired out of the Armoury ships and flew toward their targets. The missiles were distributed fairly evenly throughout the enemy fleets, with most ships having at least one targeted, many more for the capitals.

Aboard the LHS Odyssey, a Chancellor Class CVBN, preparations were made to launch the ship's air contingent of over 600 strike planes. The mix of TSF-622B fighters and TAF-620B fighter-bombers would be armed to the teeth with missiles and bombs, all in an effort to destroy the enemy fleet.

The attack planes were preceded by TEF-622B EW planes, which would jam enemy radar and allow the CSA-E AWACS planes flying support to direct fire at their leisure.

The mass of planes flew toward the enemy fleet with weapons armed, following in the wake of the thousands of missiles

A very lucky situation.

As the Griffincrest fleets began tomove towards Kampfer, Admiral Redhammer sent out a message to the Kampferian government.

"On behalf of the Griffincest Corporation, we offer an end to hostilities for the sum of thirty billion dollars. Refusal will result in the continued attack upon your homeland."

Almost immediatly after sending this message, a massive beam of light came down from the sky, cleanly severing a Homeland class battleship in two, and blinding several dozen sailors on surrounding ships. "...By the Gods..." the Admiral muttered before sending out the report of a downed battleship back to Griffincrest Command Headquarters, based out of RFF.

The news of a massive light beam from space sent chills up and down the spine of Air Marshall Herman Goldring, who immediatly ordered the ships of his space fleet into the area to assault the Excalibur platforms. Twenty five solar sailors, decked out with nearly a dozen railguns each, began to move in and readied to launch their attack on the cannons. Aboard the Griffincrest space platform, Medusa, dozens of boarding pods were being filled with the mercenaries assigned to them, each man prepared to fire off into space, attach to the enemy weapons and communications platforms, blast the pod open, and board the satelites.

Other satelites, Griffincrest satelites, began to pick up on the ASAT launch. ASAT launches, however, were of little consequence to the massive Griffincrest orbital system. Hundreds of Brilliant Pebbles were deployed in the pathway of the ASAT's as they came up through the atmosphere, knocking out the vast majority of them. Still, around a half dozen satelites were struck from the sky, two missile platforms, a spy satelite, and three communications satelites.

Meanwhile, within the Kampferian waters, the two stealth ships began to high tail it back into international waters and lie, invisible both to RADAR and to the eye, waiting for the first of the allied fleets to arrive. When they did,the ships would open up with a salvo of their Bladerunner torpedoes, and then once again speed away.

This could all be avoided, however, for the mere cost of thirty billion dollars.

"Sir, our infrared scanners are detecting something strange moving at the cusp of Kampferian waters. Problem is, we're not seeing much going on besides that. Could be subs, could be a school of fish or just an odd current. Tides are usually strong around the full moon."

"Well, keep an eye on it. We're headed right that way, so tell the escorts to keep a close watch on their infrared scanners. Order one of the escort fleets to branch off and try to move to the other side of the disturbance. I want to try and flank it, whatever it is. And make sure the aviation fuel ships are on the side opposite that signature. I don't want to risk losing SAC aviation fuel to a sudden strike."

"Yes sir. We'll be in the area shortly."

Admiral Adrianov looked out of the bridge windows, seeing nothing but blue water and skies. It was quiet, too damn quiet, just like it always was before an attack.

The young admiral smiled at the news that the nation of ThePeoplesFreedom had paid the fleet the war cost. No more of his mercenaries would have to die today for such a senseless war. Soon after receiving conformation that the thirty billion dollars was deposited into the Griffincrest Corporate account, he ordered all fleets to report back to their ports. War, for today at least, was avoided. Valentius than telegrammed over a letter apologizing if he upset the Fuhrer, as well as sending over a box of chocolates, and an e-mail with the image of a dancing penguin, hopefully enough to rise up the poor guys spirits after the threat of invasion.

In space, the fleets once again returned to their stations, as did the boarding pods, their crews able to breath easy once again knowing that they did not run the risk of floating in space, never to be seen again.

The stealth ships seemingly dissapeared, silently cutting through the water towards the next hot zone.

"This is...odd...our fleet has moved in to the region and has found nothing. In fact, it appears that all Griffincrest forces are gone. I-I can't explain it, sir."

"Odd. Keep the fleet on patrol, and we'll keep moving towards Kampfers. Even if there isn't a war, we need to get to work establishing a strategic base here to prevent incidents like this from happening again. This is odd, for sure, but I can't help thinking the Griffincrests will show up again somewhere else in the near future. Mercenaries always follow profit, and they're going to spin their wheel of fortune and find their next target for extortion."

"So, should we continue to Kampfers, sir?"

"Yes. Inform high command that Griffincrest forces have apparently vacated the area."

The fuhrer was suprised. The Peoples Freedom had paid a ransom that the Griffencrest Corporation demanded to call off the attack. THe box of chocolates had cheered him up some. If he was the TPF, he would have not paid Griffencrest, but then again, that might have been what got him into this in the first place. Well, I guess I need to thank all my allies.

"Sir, we have word that TPF has negotiated an end to the Griffincrest attack." Vice Admiral Sakharov said as he spoke with the Fleet Admiral in his private quarters.

"However, high command wants you to continue to Kampfers to discuss potentially constructing some airbases and a strategic supply depot in the event that they are attacked again. SAC and the Navy want their planes to be able to make the flight to Kampfers and have somewhere to land. That will enable us to provide air support as well as open up an aerial supply line. Trying to move supplies across the sea with Griffincrest stealth subs patrolling the waters would've been costly and dangerous. They don't want a repeat of that situation."

"Very well, we will continue to Kampfers. I will speak personally to the members of the State and Defense ministries to sort out the particulars. I trust Kosyachenko will be arriving sometime soon?"

"Yes, his flight will be departing tomorrow."

Admirral Kovaks was furious...

Poor communication and/or jaming/breakdown associated with an old delapidated Hurtian spy satalite had caused the entire 2nd Corprate fleet to pass them right by in the night...

Immediately, he ordered a picket formed, all of the reletrively few sea gates that were originally intended by the Blackhelm Navy to prevent amphibious invasion would be watched by a pair of submarines and destroyers, with the remainder of the two fleets held in resserve.

Lucilly, Kampfers had notified the Hurtians that the Griffencret fleets were supposedly returning to their ports, making things fairly easy.

A radio message was then sent to Blackhelm's regular Naval defense networking station.

"To: The respectable people of Blackhelm Confederacy
From: The Hurtian Coastwatchers

We have reason to believe that foriegn mercenaries and terrorists shall attempt to seek refuge in your ports, we would be extremely grateful if you reported the findings of any armed and unrecorded oceangoing ships passing through your sea gates.

If you find said ships, ask them to leave your waters, we'll handle it from there.

Thank you for your continued cooperation."
