Forging An Alliance [E2027]

OOC: The posts were cluttering up my Factbook, so this is where the meeting between Kamp, me and anyone else who is part of this new alliance wishes to come and meet.

"Welcome to the Italian Socialist Republic" A straight faced man, who had a vivid tan, greeted the pale Scandivian who he assumed was President Miller. "I am Fabizo Chellini, an advisor to the Supreme Almightly Ruler Liberatore Romano. He is currently preparing for a speech, I'm sure it would most interest you to see the culture of Italy - the speeches in the plaza of Rome are the highlight of many Italians lives in this bleak state of the world..."

He was standing in the near empty airport. Not many people left Italy anymore, it was hard to anyway due Romano's strict rules, and only a small percentage of the population could afford the plane tickets.

Chellini began talking again "The treaty will be signed after the speech, please, come, we have a car and escourt for your security waiting - soon you will talk to Liberatore Romano, he is a very wise, respectful man..." And Chellini muttered to himself inaudibly.

The cars were swamped by people and couldn't go any further into the square. The diplomats got out, and took a sweeping look at the scene infront of them before heading into a building on the Western side of the square and standing with dignity on a large ornate balcony. The whole square was full of dreary people, though they were contrasted by the brightly coloured, regimental and strong forceful army that weaved in between them, thousands of troops all there for one speech - apparently they had a mass event like this once a week. Fabizo began to explain the history to President Miller.

The Italian Socialist Union city of Rome periodically plays host to a site that has not been seen in the world since the days of the Soviet Union – speeches by the charismatic powerful leader of the ISU that is Liberatore Romano, a man feared and respected worldwide. These speeches often happen in the coldest, darkest hours of the daytime, and tens of thousands are summoned by the troops of the Italian Socialist Armed Forces, that parade the square of Rome (known as the “Piazza del Popolo”) that was constructed for these occasions, showing off there military might. Today, though, was special – for the first time for ten years, this speech was to be broadcasted international, as well as on the Italian Glory Of Our Nation Radio Network (TV’s were not common place) – something that every Italian citizens was required to tune into if an important speech was to be made – schools would stop there learning (which last a mere few hours a day anyway), people would halt there work to listen to the ‘wise’ words of there leader.

The speech began, and was broadcasted to the world and the nation.

… (Roughly Translated From Italian) “Broadcasted by the Italian Glory Of Our Nation Radio Network”

“People, friends, lifeblood of the Union – today is the day that we come out of the shadows, that the world begins to know us and hear our name, The Italian Socialist Union is a changed country to the one they once knew. In the horrific war where the rich overpowered and fat with money Westerners descended on the poor East, Italy under its so called democratic government made the mistake of being ‘neutral’. This stance was exploiting by the unforgiving Eastern nations, who in the name of there futile allegiance to the scum that was China bombed and savaged our Eastern side when we were most weak, leaving the city of Bari as a sign for the merciless destruction they placed on us, as the once thriving port city now looks like a ruin from the old ancient lands of Greece.

But did we let them succeed in battering us! (a loud chorus shouts “No”) Did we give into to these attacks, and let our so called leader in the so called honourable yet useless Fabio Bazani guide us to economic growth but the death of millions of you, the citizens of our country! (a loud chorus shouts “No”) No, we did not succumb to the Western minded fool’s ways, and we fought up against him, and it is now time to show Europe that we are the supreme power, the one they should all fear and bow down too – there is no other Italian Socialist Union. We will crush anyone who wants to be our oppressors, forge alliances with the most powerful similarly politically minded and Northern and Central European nations, and soon oil will once again run through the streets and power through the veins of this glorious country – it shall be treated as not a luxury, but a commodity!

And so, we send this message to the world – the Italian Socialist Union has come out of the darkness. Marvel at our military displays and ponder what force they could unleash upon your nation if you cross us, admire our fields that grow bountiful fruits of the work of our citizens, which can be gorged by your greedy ones in exchange for offers of good trade. And so, even as we first introduce ourselves back to the International Stage it seems as if conflict has already crept up on our doorstep – the Spartan Federation, a country born from ones that brutally committed horrendous acts against Eastern Italy in times of the war, have annexed Sicily – our rightful lands! This message goes out to this unwise Federation; Sicily is the property of the Italian Socialist Union.

Long live the Union! Long live Italy!”

- Speech Given By Liberatore Romano Named “Let The World Welcome Us With Open Arms And Marvel At Our Power”

After the speech, the President of the USSP was invited into the grand office of Liberatore Romano. Everyone who had entered this room felt a presence, and was in fear by the time the door had shut behind them - or less friendlier days, they may of never come out. As soon as you entered you could see where what little money the ISU had was squandered - the room had views that engulfed the whole city of Rome, book shelves that were crafted by the finest in the world, and layered with old books and Liberatore Romano journals that were worth thousands. The sealing was something magnificent, an image of Liberatore Romano standing on a podium, on one side of him the wealthy West and the other side the pigs of the East, with both sides being held back by Romano's hordes of loyal followers. This was all smothered in majestic gold, and beautiful if not daunting to the eye.

The President sat down at the imposing desk where a man who dressed and looked like a war general from the 30's greeted him. He wore a vivid dark blue military suit; with medals dangling from it's every part, and his name sowed in with care in a golden thread - Liberatore Romano.

“Greetings President from the North” The man had a very thick Italian accent, and his moustache seemed to move when he talked. His hair was clean cut, brown but greying, and he drew you in when he spoke “We have issues to discuss, treaties to sign, and moves to make in this fragile world. Shall we wait for other delegates to arrive, or shall you induct all of them into this alliance of yours yourself? Whatever you choose, please, drink!”

A Candid Letter of Diplomatic Introduction, To the Italian Socialist Union

Greeting and salutations. We extend our most sacred hand in an offer of friendship to your nation, seeing as how your government system follows a system very much like ours. Justice, peace, equality, for all. Indeed, though you may label it as Socialist, we beleive you are indeed a Wihdaiste nation, but have not discovered that you are following the straight path as of yet. Perhaps, someday, hopefully, this situation will change. However, that is a different matter. The purpose of sending this letter is quite different.

We wish to strike a deal with you, perhaps of trade, perhaps of an agreement, perhaps of something else. We do not necessarily wish to enter any of the foolish ideological alliances, as this would be a diversion from our true path, set by the All-Mighty Creator. Thus, we are not garaunteeing anything of that nature. However, as partners, friendly relations will most likely ensue

Please reply with honesty, clarity and punctuality, most respectable fellows.

OOC: It's UPSS

IC: Ahh, good to see you. I will be conducting this meeting on my own. About this alliance- It will require a full military commitment, as well as economic. Wars will be fought united, as if we were one country. However, if one nation commits an atrocity, they may be ignored by their alliance members.

Liberatore Romano was anxious about pledging his full military might to these people - would they help him if the fools in Austria attacked...though that seemed more unlikely currently, what about the liberation of Sicily!?

"Mr. Miller, I will join this alliance for the ecomonic benefits, though I reserve the right to withdraw from this alliance at any time – though it is not in our nature to be cowards and do so. Therefore, I have the documents…sign these, and officially the Italian Socialist Union, the Federation of Kansiov, and UPSS are allied.”

SIC TO Anadyr:

- La Comunicazione Ufficiale Da Liberatore Romano

We, my holy friends, are certainly Socialist, though we are willing to overlook that remark. Though we do not approve of your many ideals - the ISU is a very catholic country with the Pope based here, and although I do not believe in the foolish religion, many of our citizens would not get through the day without a little faith.

We purpose you do not join these alliances - there is too much politics in them - and trade between our nations is worthless, I fail to see what you can provide us that we don't already have. Though, what the Italian Socialist Union is prepared to do is this - your nation is very close to the Spanish larger nation, who has spoken before of plans to unite Spain as it once was - this could prove a very large threat to your nation alone. Though, in exchange for arms trading (particularly Artillery; something we lack) and trade of our different food produces, we will offer to sign an anti-aggression pact, which means we will not invade you - and possibly protect you from these plotters against your nation.

President Miller signed the document. "Excellent. Of course you deserve the right to withdraw, however, I must state that if one withdraws in times of war the international community may not look at you with a friendly eye. On another note, I wish to talk to you about Austria-Hungary. They have already defiled your union with embargoes and the like, and now dare threaten the UPSS over Denmark. We fear that a war may be coming."

Liberatore Romano smiled. He expected this subject would come up.

"I may be brash, unreserved speaker - but I am clever enough as a diplomat to see that Austria-Hungary wish to wield there power around, and that they have a lot of power to do so with. There failed attempt to ruin our economy was laughable - these routes were not used, and we would never trade with the likes of them anyway! The little effect it has had is on morale, but no-one would dare stand up to my policies anyway..." Romano was sounding more like a lunatic as he went on.

"Anyway, I simply can not afford war with the fragile state my country is in. Operations in Sicily I can do, and they are in my plans, and I can also assist you in Denmark - but this strange Austria-Hungary country that lies mostly in the west yet has the politics of the east is too powerful to be messed with directly, say with the attack on there lands, but we can help remove them when they try to help Denmark."

"Also, I will cancel all trade with them, as should you. They say they will starve us out, let's see how they survive with there closest farming neighbour not providing them with food."

A security guard for President Miller walked in and whispered something in his ear. The president jumped out of his chair immediately. "I have great news, Liberator! Denmark is now a province of the UPSS! Unfortunately, I must leave immedeately, as i need to speak to the citizens. Perhaps we can continue this at another time, if need be. Farewell, my brother in arms." With that, Miller began making his way to the door.

Friend Liberatore Romano of the Italian Socialist Republic,

We are somewhat disappointed that you would not find a trade agreement profitable, but we concur that we should trade arms, as Europa has a strong army and a modest arms industry to back it up. We would be most interested in procuring such an agreement. Perhaps if we are able to create an agreement, this would give our arms manufacturing industry the motivation to expand.

Perhaps, if your soldiers are somewhat lax, we can send some of our finest officers, who have seen the flames of war with their mortal eyes, to discipline your troops and act as temporary strategists for your nation. We, though try not to do so, are a people with great skills of war, and this would be a great boost to your own army, we beleive.

Also, we are aware of the so-called nation of Free Madrid's claim and we do desire an aegis of sorts in the tension-filled Iberian peninsula. In fact, we have been thinking of attempting to annex Island's supposed claim to Andalucia, and this would benefeit both of us in the extreme. If Gibraltar is taken, you have a clear waterway to your Scandinavian allies, and we will gain land ourselves. Not only this, you will gain a stronger ally, and therefore, more profit from our agreements.

Lax! Lax! I feel as if we must send our propaganda to other nations - I am nearly offended by that suggestion. The Italian Socialist Union operates one of the best trained, disciplined, and to an extent well equipped armies in the world - our nation prides ourselves on our military displays of might and aggression. We appreciate your offer however. And as for trade, we say yes to arms trade - if you have agriculture goods Italy does not specialise in, or natural resources such as metals, we shall trade.

Now, as for the situation in Andalucia - we have our full support in your attack there. We have been practically blocked from there trade routes, though they were used little, it would be of great use to us if they were opened up again. Therefore, we will support your invasion - perhaps even with the might of our military.

Friend Liberatore Romano of the Italian Socialist Republic,

It was not meant as an offense, dear friend, simply a possible suggestion. We have not seen your fine soldiers in action, and thus, we could not conclude about their skill and valor. However, if you find them fit, we do as well. This all for the better, as if you wish to aid us in the possible invasion of Andalucia, we would rather a strong ally than a useless saber-rattler, which you are most obviously not.

We declare that, in terms of food products, we can offer olives, corn, tomatoes, wheat and barley, though I doubt that you do not have the same types of produce we do, considering our similar climates. However, perhaps, since Valencia is a rich and fertile land, we may be able to sell any surplus of these we have. I'm sure a nation like as big as yours would need more food for its growing population. We only require steel, cement and other products necessary for the build up of infastructure, as this was damaged in the past World War, the civil war in Spain and the Wihdaiste invasion, and now we wish to rebuild what we have settled in.

We and our blessed Union thank you for your decision to support us in case of an invasion of Andalucia. We will attempt to use diplomatic force first, then military force if it is required. We hope you will first support our cause diplomatically.

Friend Liberatore Romano of the Italian Socialist Republic,

We have actually managed to gain support from the UPSS for our campaign, and we are awaiting a pending decision of whether they would be willing to put pressure on Iceland in case of war.

They warn us that we should be cautious in our dealings with Iceland, but why should we? Our troops are the messengers of God's word, and our most righteous soldiers shall defeat the morally corrupt and vile fascists of Iceland most easily, if a war is required.

Unless Free Madrid becomes invovled, this operation should be a most simple one. This is our only fear of the situation. We do not wish to speak with them, as they may mobilize counter to us during on offensive, as they will most likely suspect the attack is coming.

We request you open up a dialogue with them and convince them to stay out of the war, seeing as how you are both Socialist states, you will most likely fit together like a well-rounded puzzle.

Perhaps you can their leader and ourselves to a meeting at my Most Sacred Abode or your nation's capital, and we may discuss any critical issues between our three nations.
