The Confederacy of Gallique is a confederation of 8 cantons: Bâle, Berne, Delémont, Fribourg, Neuchâtel, Valais, Vaud, and the capital canton of Genève. Each canton has a unicameral parliament, which elects six executive councilors to head the government of the canton. The Head Councilor is elected by direct popular vote, to head the six-member Council, and also represents the Canton in the Federal Council. Each Councilor elects another councilor to head the Federal Council and is the de facto Head of State [although the title is equally shared by all 8 members of the Council, the President of the Council is elected to serve as the Head Speaker for the State]. While each Canton governs itself independently of the other, a few matters of Federal prerogative limit the autonomy of each canton, notably that the foreign affairs of the Confederation is restricted to the Federal Council. The armed forces of the Confederation are independently maintained by each canton, with the Head Councilor of each canton serving as the commander in chief. Each canton guarantees every citizen of the Confederation equal rights in every canton - a distinguished right of membership in the Confederation. Additionally, the economic wealth of the Confederation is shared among the Cantons.

Legislature
The Parlement of the Confederation manages the legislative affairs of the Confederation, although all laws must be approved by the Federal Council.

Executive
Federal Council forms the official executive body of the Confederation. Each Head Councilor from each canton is a representative Head of State [although the President of the Federal Council is the de facto Head of State], and serves on the Council, to verify the acts passed in Parliament and make centralized decisions for the Confederation in all. All executive decisions must be passed by majority in the Federal Council, not necessarily by the words of the President.

Judiciary
The Federal Court serves as the principal judicial court of the Confederation. Each canton elects one justice to serve on the Court, while the Federal Council elects the Supreme Justice of the Court. Each canton is responsible for its own judiciary outside of the Federal system, of which the Federal Court also serves as the final authority in matters of law and politics.

Half of the budget is being harnessed to manage safety of the project, while the remainder is to be invested in energy manipulation technology to help reduce fossil fuel dependence, especially upon coal. This decision has been submitted to Parlement, for discussion and debate - for its utility, its legitimacy, and furthermore, its practicality.

While the embassy is under construction, the Proconsul has been granted residency in the Palais Fédéral, if she should desire to arrive early. Otherwise, we will make every effort to expedite the construction without suffering any errors.

Le Conseils Fédéral

The Conseils Federal has reviewed the budget, and despite heavy expenses in welfare and healthcare among other priorities, the budget is expected to have a small surplus for the first year under term leadership of President D'Evereux. It is expected that the economy should grow significantly, as the economy opens to broader markets. Hopefully, in due time, the planned market economy can be reverted into an open free market economy, as soon as better entrepreneurship can be found among the ranks of the isolated citizens of the Confederation.

Among expectations are the opening and diversification of the watch-manufacture market, as well as numerous other markets.

The Republic of Lucerne has sent an invitation to the Confédération, asking for admission as the ninth canton. The Conseils Fédéral has spent the past day in consultation, emerging today approving the deal. Président Sébastien D'Evereux has submitted the proposal to Parlement, which must confirm the admission of the Ninth Canton of Lucerne officially. If the admission is passed, the Republic will join the Confédération and their current Head of State - Emile Jourdanot - will join the Conseils Fédéral as the Ninth Chef de Conseils.

Parlement has engaged in heavy debate over the admission of the Republic of Lucerne into the Confederation.

Opponents argue that while Lucerne has had friendly history with the Confederation, the majority of the population is Germanic, and thus might pose ethnic conflicts with the French-majority population of the remaining Confederation. Additionally, the Republic has had difficulty with modernization, despite their professed efficiency and good work ethic.

Proponents have argued that while the ethnic divides are clearly present, the Republic and the Confederation have many outstanding years of friendship during the isolation. Additionally, the Confederation possesses a growing wealth of capital that could be used beneficially to improve the territory of Lucerne. The two states combined could boost productivity overall, and the ethnic diversity only adds to the tourism industries - both domestically and internationally.

The argument continues to rage as the President is expected to make a speech in Parlement later, to summarize his support for the proposal.

On the eve of the New Year, Parlement has approved the admission of the Republic and Canton of Lucerne into the Confederacy of Gallique. President Sebastien D'Evereux and the Conseils Federal celebrated the admission as a testament that the Confederation is ready to play an active force in international politics. While still small, the Confederation now boasts burgeoning economy and social structure.

The current armed forces has been remodeled with standard equipment [i.e. French and Swiss] and will be passing through basic tests to determine their strength in the defense of the Confederacy.
