A question about shields.

Can nanobots get through shields* becuase of their sheer smallness, or do they have to have like an anti-shield thingamajigger?

*Particle and the other kind.

Depends on the shield - I'm familiar with magnetic shields but not with other designs.

A magnetic shield can deflect charged particles, but nanobots should be massive enough to pass through such a shield if fired at it - their inertia will carry it through effortlessly.

Other shields would be designed to deflect either energy weapons or material shells/warheads - the latter would be enough to deflect the nanobots. Given the size of a nanobot, I find it hard to accept that they could have something designed to overpower a shield.

Just my two cents...

That would depend largely on what type of shields you're facing. A KK field would just eat them, while a Holtzmann shield would depend on exactly how fast those nanobots are moving, while a Langston field shrugs off literally everything until it finally fails.
