Emily of Kanata (RP)

Edwardian England

In times of old, Canada was not a nation. It was controlled by the two rivals of Europe, England and France. Since the time of Joan of Arc, they disliked each other heavily. Now, the rivalry expanded its wings over North America and soon, its feet would touch the ground. This RP is to show the life of a young girl named Emily, who lived through a conflict between Britain and France and who lived under the wing of a new Native mother and soon tried to get back into the European lifestyle.

Now, let us begin our tale…..

(Note-Sorry if my introduction’s not that good)

Guaire McMurphy watched from his horse as coloums of red coated infantry marched from the shoreline, where the royal navy sat off the coast dropping soldiers off in row boats. To the beat of drums coloums of soldiers passed by, the British banners fluttered in the cool breeze, the sun was high in the sky, the day was truly a good one.

The Colonel had been back in Canada for afew hours, nothing had changed, it was still as beautiful as it was when he first came many years ago, it was good to finally have his feet back on the ground as the Colonel always hated the voyages across the ocean. He adjusted his tricorne to block his eyes from the sun, his most recent assignment had been on his mind all day, he was to head west with a platoon of infantry, a small band of cavalry escorting civilians, when he arrived at the new location he would take up command of a British Battaltion.

The French/Indian war had begun and there was alot of action in the area, constant ambushes, disrupption of supply lines, broken alliances...everything was a mess making every move dangerous, he had done this before but nothing to this extent. Colonel McMurphy nodded signaling the officers beside him on horseback to follow his lead, England was sending a steady flow of troops all the time to support the war effort, reinforcements were moving up and they would make camp then break off in the morning to where they were needed.

Afew hours later

Colonel McMurphy sat in his candle lit command tent going over some maps of the area, intelligence had no idea where the enemy could be so all field commanders were on the alert, the natives did not fight like gentlemen and insisted on targeting officers and setting traps for regulars to walk into which they had been doing in recent reports. Guaire set down a map taking out his pocket watch, inside a painted picture of his wife..he smiled closing it then placed it on the table, he then thought of his son and where he might be at this time..probably with his men or the other junior officers.

Guaire was proud of John, Lt. John McMurphy.. no officer, Scottish or British was a proud a father as he was.

Emily, who was only 9 years old at this point in our story, was an adventurous little girl, so her father said. Always wanting to know about things, so inquisitive her mother would say to her husband. She was an only child and she often liked to pick strawberries, or whatever produce their was, with her mother while her father packed it all up, some would be for them to eat, the rest sent off to the market.

Emily didn’t know about things such as her father and mother expecting a new child, they never told her. However, as time progressed, you will see that she may never know of it, not knowing of her possible brother or sister…she didn’t know that outside of her world….war brew in the cauldron.

(I've just introduced Emily. I don't have her doing anything now, this is just introducing her.)

OOC: I took the liberty of giving Ravenclaw a tribe...hope ya'll don't mind (though the Iroquois Confed. nations never liked the English, anyway, and the Oneida are the most famous of them).

IC:

Banks of the St. Lawrence River
Kawakatowee Settlement

The native American "city" was quiet. Day-to-day tasks were underway...and Chief Ravenclaw, the tall, cunning leader of the Oneida, was far from unaware. His own father, Chief Eagletooth, had died by the hands of English colonists...and Canada, the French-held settlement considerably friendlier to Native Americans, was the site of the Oneida's "capital city". Kawakatowee was a sprawling settlement, extending over a large area, bordering the banks of the St. Lawrence at one end and a Canadian forest at the other. The mighty river seperated the friendly French colony from the hostile English...and Ravenclaw seethed of rage and retribution. The English would eventually pay...and Ravenclaw would be the device of choice.

Colonel McMurphy looked up from his maps as an infantry Captian entered,

"Sir! our patrols have returned...no enemy movement has been spotted"

Guaire sighed,

"Nothing Captian?"

The officer shook his head and replyed,

"Nothing a stirr sir..it's quiet.."

Colonel McMurphy stood up putting on his Tricorne, he adjusted his sword then walked out of the tent followed by the Captian. As he stood out in the night air he looked up at the clear sky cluttered with bright stars...

"Yes..quiet indeed Captian..too quiet.."

Lines upon lines of white tents were close together where the reinforcements that had just arrived during the day set up camp for the night, the flicker of fire light danced off the tents sides and random soldiers strolled about,

"Double the guard, send scouts to all sides of our position and have them report anything that appears to be amiss immeaditly.."

"Very good sir!"

The Captian replyed then left upon getting the nod from Guaire. The Colonel continued to stand outside and slowly he strolled towards the edge of the camp past a sentry who came to attention, looking into the dark, dense forest..it felt as if they were being watched at this very moment but if there were enemy out there they would not be so stupid to attack such a force as was present..

I know your out there..watching right now...He said in a wisper...

His mind went back to when he had first came to the Americas, the natives were ferice warriors who painted themselves and faught in such a savage but effective mannor with honor and pride, a worthy foe, ..and the French..long time enemys of the crown, noble, respectable enemys aswell, McMurphy had quite the task ahead of him here in Canada and wasn't quite sure what to expect as of yet.

He turned around and headed back to his tent to turn in....

The lush foliage swayed back in forth in the cool breeze. The forest floor was darkened, save the spots of light let through by the leaves. The birds chirped and cawed throughout. The forest breathed, his heart beat. A lone deer grazed cautiously down in a gulley. It's hoves nimbly tramped over twigs and piles of leaves in search for more palatable food source. Its' left year flicked from a gnat but seemed unbothered for the most part. It was humid out. A man opened his eyes, taking in a quiet, slow breath. He'd tracked this deer for about five miles, relentlessly waiting for the right moment, finally spotting his prey. He raised the Kentucky rifle high up to his shoulder blade and slowly cocked back the hammer, the click caused the deer to raise its' head and ever in tuned ears. He paused and awaited for the deer to return to its' grazing which it did so a moment later. He took careful aim, steadying the rifle. His finger wrapped around the trigger and pulled it back. The crack of the rifle caused a flock of birds to uplift from the trees as the deer flinched from impact and began to hurry off for its' life's sake. The hunter rose from his knees and gave chase. The leather jerkins around his legs protected them from the rough burhc and thorns as he glided through the foliage towards his prey. He moved with ease, leaping over downed trees and dodgng standing ones. He breathed in and out, eyes spotting the trails of blood splattered against leaves and a moss covered log. After a long dart down the gulley and into a forested valley he came upon his prey. It was sprawled out on the forest floor, expired. He knelt down and put a hand on it's side. There was no air left in its' lungs. He slung the rifle over his shoulder and took out rope which he carried and tied it to the deer. It was heavy, ungodly so. But this had to be done. He contemplated cutting the limbs and head off but that would be disrespectful, they would want the deer whole for they wasted no part of it. He began the difficult and long walk back to the Indian village. The weight began to pull down on him as he tried carrying it over his broad shoulders, then he dragged it. Up embankments he pulled it, nearly slipping several times. The trial was certainly difficult but the benefits outweighed his strife.

Finally, he reached his small lean-to which was about a mile from the Kawakatowee village. He laid down his rifle and knife, brining only a few other goods in his sack. He rested for a moment, taking in some water and bread which begin to stail a tad. Next, he continued his march to the village, he traded with the Oneida often and became a semi-trusted Frenchman. This would prove to them, he is a freind, an offering to their leaders. After covering that last mile he reached the outskirts of the village and entered, the warriors circled around him, waiting to show any sign of hostility which there was none. The Frenchman remained calm and an even face. He approached the huts of the chiefs and requested to see them. If he showed any sign of fear or hostility then the warriors would descend upon him with great fury. This was one of the invaluable tricks he learned in his travels. Brute force did not always win in the wilderness, cunning and tactics ruled the woods, where he lived most of his life.
"I pray that mighty Chief Ravenclaw will see me and the gift I bring him. To honor him and his father" he called out towards the Chief's longhouse. The other natives waited, still omnipresent around him.

Guaire emerged from his tent to see the run rising in the sky, he looked around to see soldiers moving around putting the tents away while other units moved out through the fields followed by supply wagons. McMurphy was fully dressed in his Colonel's military attire ready to move West with the coloum to take up his command. During breakfast he was informed there was no enemy movement all night long, no scouts, nothing...it was strange that an army this size could stay hidden during the night but apparently it had to be true or the defenders were waiting for the perfect time, if so..the Colonel was on to them.

Most of the soldiers that arrived on the banks of the St. lawerance were either headed across the river later that day onto Fort Oswego or on foot to Albany where they would reinforce other armys. Colonel McMurphy would take 112 soldiers in total, three officers and six civilians West, British units had moved through about a week ago facing heavy resistance, ambushes and bait drawing them right into large ambushes.

Colonel Guaire McMurphy turned to a dragoon officer mounted beside him, the man held out a letter which the Colonel took...

Dear sir,

My name is James Carver, i live with my family west of the St. Lawerance river deep behind the newly established "Lines" of battle. My family and i seek the help of whom ever this may concern, i asked for the clerk or soldier whom i gave this to to only present it to an officer above the rank of Lt. as i was a Colonel myself serving the crown some years ago. I know when an enemy is near and our home has been being watched for days now..i have drawn a small map on how to make your way here should you choose to assist us in..

Colonel McMurphy sighed, these people were in need of help...there wasn't much he could do for them besides take them West with them..they would be more safe than where they were currently,

He dismissed the Dragoon then had a map of the area passed to him while on his horse, he compared it to the one the man had drew...there were afew slight detours that had to be taken and this could also be a trap but it was somthing that had to be done..this man was an English army officer, McMurphy was Scottish but he would never abandon a fellow soldier as much as he hated the whole idea of taking those side roads in,

He looked at the Dragoon Captian,

"I want fourteen dragoons asembled with my soldiers..i don't care where they are commited they are comming with me and thats a direct order from a Colonel..understood?"

"Very good sir!"

"Get to it.."

The cavalry officer cantered off to fetch the soldiers for McMurphy who folded the letter up placing it in his pocket,

"We move out, 25 minutes Leiutennet...have the men ready, tell them to keep their eyes open and be ready for anything..also..have the drums stay quiet..we don't need every Indian and Frenchman in this god forsaken country locating us"

"Right-o- sir! on the double.."

The officer dismounted and walked down the line of redcoat regulars getting their kit ready for the move.

John McMurphy was reading a book underneath a tree a little outside the camp. Near him was a musket, just in case of a Native attack. This was the first time John had set foot out of Europe. He had finally gotten here, after hearing his father's stories. It was everything that he had imagined. It was a beautiful and plentiful land. Now he was a junior grade officer, his father had bought the commission at the ripe age of sixteen. This was the first military venture that John had been assigned to. Though John had no men under his command, and mostly stayed by his father's side.

Closing the book, John grabbed his musket and went back to the camp. He saw that the camp had some activity. Quickly he ran to the camp. John found his father getting ready to leave and ran up to him. "Father, where are you going?"

Emily was shocked to hear a loud crack from nearby; a loud noise shook her, the sound of the musket. She also had heard the native war cries, she’d never really heard them before, or at least did not remember any instance she had heard them, but went to find her father shooting his musket at people outside. “Father, what’s going on?” Emily asked her father, seeing him rapidly fire in a cycle of repetition. “Father, what’s going on?” Emily asked again…still no response. Whatever it was…it was not good.

"Lt. McMurphy! fall in..we are heading west, we are waiting on the dragoons i have called up to join us..keep your eyes peeled and be alert at all times these men are relying on you now Lt...this is not a game, THAT GOES FOR ALL OF YOU..NOBODY DIES"

Guaire could not treat his son any different than the rest of the men and hoped he understood what he had done wrong, he was not angry at John, he knew he could not pamper him for they were heading out to the front where the enemy was lurking, waiting to kill...

The Scottish Colonel looked at the faces of the young men he had with him here today, he would do his best to save their asses if nessasary...while on the field McMurphy considered his son to be another soldier he would give his own life to save....

Why does Father not want me downstairs?” Emily asked of her mother, who looked worried as she heard the shots and cries from outside, melding into one horrible experience. It worried Emily a bit, she did not know what was going on and no one seemed to give her a good answer. “Mother, what is going on?” Emily asked again before more cries could be heard. Fort Carillon

Captain Junot, an older man in his mid to late thirties paced down the large stone walls of the fort. It was another beautiful day in the New World. Construction of the fort began in 1755 and floundered for the next two years. It controlled the south and of Lake Champlain. He took off his cover and ran a hand through his slightly graying hair. He'd been stationed in the fort for about a year, first being stationed in Quebec. In all, he lived in New France for five years and despised the whole place. He came from a noble family near Marseilles which made their living as merchants. He went to the military academy in Paris and graduated with honors. He believed in the social ladder and that he resided near the top. An air of pride surrounded him, some said it was arrogance. Despite these flaws, he was an excellent commander in military terms. But when it came to dealing with the natives, he fell short. Junot viewed them as savages and held little respect for them. He was a European in the wilderness. Day in and day out he watched out from the battlements, the lake and the surrounding forested hills. The only thing he did enjoy about the whole region was the stark natural beauty. Sadly; in his mind, the savages ruled it. Junot rarely spoke with the local chiefs, instead having his subordinates go in his stead.
"Colonel Junot" a voice resounated from a distance. Junot turned to see Lieutenant Lorraine, one of his subordinate officers walking casually up the stairs and onto the battlements.
"What is it Lorraine?" he inquired.
"Reports from our scouts are in" he began. Junot detested the idea of relying on the natives for so much. Scouting, intelligence, ambushes, trade, and everything in between. He didn't trust them but was forced to yield in order to gain an upper hand.
"Well, let's have it" Junot said in an annoyed tone. Lorraine sensed it and went about quickly.
"No movement from the nearby British forts. One of the natives informs us of an attack on several British farms southwest of us. Other than that it's quiet." Lorraine's brief was just that, brief. However, he forgot one piece and started up again just as Junot was about to dismiss him. "Massena is currently amoungst the Oneida, Colonel. His last report was quite pleasing and optomistic. The Oneida need more powder as well as other goods."
"Indeed, young Massena is quite impressive in his dealings with the savages. You are dismissed, Lorraine" The young officer quickly departed. Junot hid his hatred for Massena well. He viewed him as a rebel with no respect for superior officers and a savage lover. They worked uneasily together. Massena was the main agent for contact with the native population.

Lt. McMurphy followed his father's orders and formed up in line. He was exited to be on his first march. Maybe they would even see a couple of the Natives. John checked his musket, then he waited for Colonel to give the order to march out.

Colonel McMurphy gave the order to move out once the dragoons arrived. It was a hot day, the sun was high in the sky and no breeze was present making the weather almost unbearable while in a uniform. They marched on into the afternoon, Guaire halted the coloum to look at the map when a musket shot rang out through the air..

"TO ARMS!" he shouted...

The soldiers fanned out on both flanks quickly, the dragoons rode around and stopped beside the Colonel,

"Captian, scout up ahead...if you see anything do not engauge but return and you will receive more orders..understood?"

"Yes sir!"

"MOVE OUT!" yelled the Officer and rode off followed by the others and a cloud of dust

Suddenly another musket shot was fired, then another and another, McMurphy looked back to his map..

It's the bloody farm! it's being attacked!

"DOUBLE TIME, KEEP YOUR RANKS! good subjects of the king are under attack!! MOVE!!"

McMurphy looked at John and gave him one nod staring him in the eyes then rode off followed by the other two officers who were at his side. The three were met by the dragoons,

"Sir! farm house under attack by some bloody savages..i didn't see any French regulars though"

McMurphy drew his pistol, signaled the Dragoons to follow him then rode full speed towards the house...

"FIRE AT WILL!" he yelled..

Like a mad man Guaire rode into battle, and seen the natives moving on the house, he took aim while in motion and fired.

*KA-POW*Smoke and fire errupted from the barrel

One of the indians fell to the ground, Colonel McMurhpy then drew his sword while riding by an enemy, he cut him open. The Dragoons followed close behind in a full charge firing pistols and cutting the enemy down, the British infantry was getting closer aswell....

It looked as if the natives were shocked at the quick arrival of the British, they were mostly breaking off and making a run from it from the Dragoons who were really destroying them...the fight raged on...

Colonel McMurphy watched as the natives tryed to run from the dragoons,

"Cut them off but do not give chase!! He yelled

The Captian leading the dragoons led afew of his men past the forests edge giving the indians nowhere to run cutting them down as they rode by, Guaire looked towards the house to see a redcoat in the window, that was probably James Carver, McMurphy held his sword high in the air and gave a single nod before charging foward stabbing at another Native...

Meanwhile the redcoat regulars had caught up, formed up and begun to open fire on the retreating enemys upon their officers commands, Colonel McMurphy looked for his son and seen him leading his men, he was very proud of his position and it was visible. Colonel Guaire McMurphy slowly rode up to the house, cracks of musket fire still echoed through the air but the fight had been won though it cost three Dragoons, six infantry their lives, the family saved in the nick of time....they had completed their objective with minimal loss to the British side, the Natives on the other hand lost many more...

McMurphy got down from his steed,

"Hello in there! i am Colonel Guaire McMurphy, 33rd regiment of her majesty's army!"

He stood there with a straight posture resting his hand on his sword handle, he raised his chin...

Once his father had given the order, John fired his musket. He saw in the distance a Native fall to the ground. Quickly he reloaded and fired off another shot. John saw the natives starting to run off.

"CHARGE!"

John fixed his bayonet and charged forward with a group of men. They quickly gained ground with the natives, but the soldiers were lead into an ambush. As the natives appeared out of nowhere, John heard a blood curling scream. The man to his left had been shot and was bleeding all over the place. The other men continued their charge, and caught up with the natives. John scurried after the men and catch sight of the hand to hand combat. A native charged forward to John. He fired a shot at the native, then stuck the bayonet in the native's neck. It was all over.

John witnessed the carnage. Dead natives were on the ground. John looked away and walked back to the farm. Seeing his father, he entered the house. While running over, he noticed that his bayonet still was drenched in blood. John entered and waited along side his father.

Massena laid the fallen deer onto the ground before him. The chief did not emerge yet. He wondered if this was a sign that he was not welcome. Despite these thoughts, the natives did not engulf him like a rain swelled river. Instead, they watched him with curious observation, like a strange animal crossing their path. He was a tall man, lean but still powerful. Handsome for the most part and an unshaven face. His blue eyes must be what intrigued them the most. His eyes moved around, making sure not to make eye contact with any of the warriors. Any sign of fear or hostility in his eyes and movements might trigger them to attack.
"Chief Ravenclaw" he bellowed again in a deep confident tone. "The longknives approach like the winter winds.Their icy touch decimating everything it comes in contact with. Even now the longknives are in great Oneida territory!" he called.

Lieutenant McMurphy just stood stunned. He had killed a man with these hands. His hand had some blood on them. Quickly he wiped them off. This wasn't how his father pictured it in his stories. It was more brutal and more carnage. The man beside him had been bleeding threw his throat. He tried to cry for help but the blood was suffocating him. John took off his tricorne, and looked back to where the former battle took place.

"Sergent! have the drummers stay quiet...we don't need attention brought upon ourselves..be on the look out, if anything appears amiss form your men immeaditly and signal"

The sergent nodded, saluted then went to carry out his orders,

"Captian, have your dragoons move to the front of the coloum..two scouts..50 meters.."

The Captian replyed,

"Yes sir!" then cantered off..

Guaire turned to his son,

"Lt...John..it was either you or your enemy son, see those fine British soldiers laying about? we have no time to bury them for we must move and move

He saluted him then climbed upon his horse,

"There is no time for remorse John, it's far from over..."

After a brief pause and staring at his son he spoke while reloading his pistol..

"Move your men towards the middle of the coloum..i will be up farther towards the front but i will be back to cheak on you here and there, be safe John..your a fine soldier and a good officer..you will be fine"

Guaire smiled and he barely ever changed his serious expression except when he was with older soldiers whom he had known for years, Majors, Colonel's, Captian's..

With that he rode off followed by a Major and another Lt in close pursuit...

Ravenclaw emerged from his dwelling, not in the best of moods today. News had already been passed along about some sort of failed native attack on an English dwelling-and the Oneida chief had already been setting plans into motion. He needed to get the strategic advantage on the white men-there was no way his tribe, even as a member of the powerful Iroquois Confederacy, could gain a numerical or military advantage on the white men outright. No, they had to be tricky and careful.

"Yes, I have heard of their coming," Ravenclaw said seriously. "We must approach them carefully. They taint our lands and have forced out the local tribes with their weapons and culture. But they put themselves in our position. We will not fail-our brothers of the Iroquois have already recieved word of their sweeping gale. Like the fox, we shall strike from where they will not see us. Make each Englishman pay for every step they take in blood. We already have runners moving across their positions, keeping an eye on the English as they move. We shall strike as they are unprepared, leap from the woods and slip back in before they have a chance to attack."

The Frenchman steeled himself, he dealt with Chief Ravenclaw only a few times. The natives were a proud people and did not take intrusions kindly and would retaliate with extreme force, swiftly and brutally. Massena respected the great chief and saw this powerful and commanding person stand before him. Massena supplied the natives with firearms, powder, food, and intelligence and maps. The natives were excellent trackers but knew little of the deep English settlements. He assisted in several raids as well, sometimes supplying French rangers to help.
"Chief Ravenclaw. The Chief of the French is a friend to the Oneida and wishes to continue our alliance in driving the English from your soil. I have with me no more than a league's distance, fine French warriors who accompany me. We wish to participate in your next raid." Massena asked of ther great Chief.

Colonel McMurphy rode slowly beside the soldiers moving through the woods heading west, the tall looming trees blocked the sun making it almost dark in the dense forest. The road twisted and turned, the soldiers were alert watching their flanks but marched slowly keeping a tight formation, the dragoon scouts were ahead ensuring the path was clear for the infantry to move.

Guaire's eyes scanned the forest for any sign of the enemy, he had been in this kind of war before and he knew he sounds the natives made, the way they moved, and his combat sence told him they were being stalked....

"Lt. Ross, they know we are here....we are no longer invisible to them"

The officer beside Colonel McMurphy gave a single nod but remained calm, he had served in the America's for almost a year now,

"I noticed aswell sir"

McMurphy nodded once, turned his horse around then rode down to his son,

"John..i have a feeling we are being watched, don't act suspiscious, remain calm...but be ready! these men are your responcibility son.."

Guaire turned around and spoke to the Major,

"Duncan, move to the front ranks..tell the sergent there to be extra careful..move.."

"Very good sir!"

The Major rode up the coloum quickly, McMurphy continued to watch out the corner of his eyes then heard a sound that resembled a bird, then a musket shot from the center..or so it sounded...

"TO ARMS! TO ARMS!"

He drew his pistol, cocked it then he was hit by a musket ball in the left shoulder dismounting him and he hit the ground with a thud, then he rolled over...

"LEFT FLANK!!"

Native warriors charged out of the trees towards the British, the coloums soldiers turned on their flanks upon their sergents order,

"TAKE AIM! MAKE READY! FIIREEE!"

The cracks of muskets echoed through the air, clouds of smoke followed along with an order to reload from the sergent, Colonel McMurphy was helped by Lt. Ross,

"Colonel! Colonel! are you alright?"

Guaire got off his knees climbing to his feet holding the pistol, he aimed up towards the trees at the Native who was running full speed towards them shaking his weapons in the air,

"Ahhhhhhhhh!" he screamed...

**KA-POW**

The indian all of a sudden went quiet and flew to the ground,

"YES IM BLOODY WELL FINE LT! SHOOT SOMTHING!"

"Sir!" he replyed then took aim,

**KA-POW**

McMurphy looked at his arm that was bleeding turing his red uniform's shoulder black. It wasn't the first time Guaire had been wounded in battle, he had been shot three times before with lead and twice with arrows and taken a knife wound in the leg. Natives were comming at a steady pace letting out fearice war crys at the top of their lungs, the constant sound of gunfire up and down the lines rang out, he could hear fix bayonet orders being shouted out, afew random musket shots from soldiers who were in panic or officers firing their pistols off. The Scottish Colonel moved back along the right flank towards where he had left his son when a group of Native warriors rushed from the trees,

"FIRE!!" Yelled the officer commanding that section of the coloum..

The Indians fell in large groups crying out in pain, Guaire tucked his pistol in then drew his sword,

"GIVE EM' HELL LADS! FOR ENGLAND!" He shouted..

His wound slowed him down slightly because of the blood loss, then a warrior ran onto the road in front of him with a tomahawk, McMurphy ducked his high blow driving his sword through the mans stomach, he ripped it watching blood trickle from the mans open mouth then continued towards his son...the middle was being hit hard, the childern, Colonel Carver and his wife were in trouble...Guaire rushed foward, arrows and musket balls wizzing through the air hitting men around him,

"BASTARD COWARDS! He yelled..

A group of Native warriors rushed out of the tress, the sergent in charge went to give the fire order but an arrow went throguh his throat, no fire order was given causing the Brit's to let the natives crash into their lines,

This is falling apart!

McMurphy moved in swinging his sword at the enemys who had locked weapons with the soldiers, he turned around stabbed, a kill, he turned to the front going low stabbing foward meeting an enemys chest, he pulled out his blade and seen a Native running towards him but then stopped and hit the ground stone cold dead...someone had taken the shot and killed him, McMurphy looked around to see a mix of natives and British soldiers fighting hard against eachother...he wiped sweat from his brow with his sleeve, bent over and picked up the sergents pistol taking aim at a native who was about to finish off a soldier,

**BOOM**

The dead indian fell to the ground, the battle was all out and nobody seemed to be winning yet although the lines in some places were broken, but the hand to hand was becomming more common...

Now the Colonel must move further on towards the middle ranks if they still held under his son's command, he could see the banners being held high, that was a good sign.....

The sounds of war were all around James’ family wagon. Natives, French and British soldiers all fighting for the common goal of defeating the enemy. The wagon’s abrupt stop had thrown Emily out of the wagon and was a problem for the others. Emily got up from the ground and looked to see soldiers fighting soldiers. “What is going on?” Emily thought to herself as she witnessed the skirmish. She did not hear the cries of her comrades of the wagon over the sounds of war cries and musket shots.

The family now had a problem…how to survive this skirmish intact.

Emily stayed where she was for a bit, amazed at what was going on. Finally, she revolved to make it back to the wagon, but would she make it before an enemy grabbed her (is a French or Native soldier going to grab her? Wondering is all)? Only time would tell…..

McMurphy faught onwards, he still did not see his son anywhere but he knew John was a good soldier and could hold his own. Guaire seen the wagon, the lines had collasped and there was hand to hand combat,

The civilans.. He thought trying to get a better look but it was difficult..

Soldiers faught in front of him for their lives, the dead and the dying were scatter over the ground..then he seen a British officer go down, it was Colonel Carver, he looked at the pistol he had in his hand that was emty, he tossed it and drove his sword into the ground picking up a musket that was cocked..he took a deep breath, aimed and squeezed the trigger..

**BOOM**

The native who stood above James stiffened up and fell backwards, just then another native came at him with a club and an axe, he blocked the blows with the musket, stabbed with the bayonet then missed, he then brought the butt of the rifle around hitting the man in the face. Quickly the Scot pulled his sword from the ground finishing the indian off with a stab in the middle of his chest..

"James!" he yelled..

The Colonel rushed over kneeling down beside carver,

"Close one! are you alright? your family?"

The smell of blood, smoke and gun powder filled the air, the crys of wounded men was heard from all directions as the fight raged on...

OOC: It don't matter, this is going well so far...the British were roughly 120..130 strong..i would imagine the war party would be smaller..it's hard to say who would win, all that matters is that Emily gets captured..the natives could be pushed back afterwards..therefore the main charactors survive..barely lol..

Emily cried for her family as the native (who’s controlling the natives again?) carried her off like a war trophy. Finally, after some time, Emily stopped struggling; perhaps she felt the man carrying her would hurt her or something. She saw the other soldiers, Natives and French soldiers marched together. After some time, Emily could see teepees and other Native buildings. She had arrived at the camp of Chief Ravenclaw.

Ravenclaw's Tent

"Of course, the French are not like the other white men-they are our brothers, as much as the others of the Iroquois are. We will continue our partnership to drive these English forth from our combined lands."

As Ravenclaw proceeded to speak to the Frenchman, several Indians-not Oneidas, by their facial markings-arrived up, toting what seemed another, struggling, smaller white person.

"And what is this..." Ravenclaw let the inquiry go off into air.

He typically wasn't accustomed to having too many visitors in his settlement-despite being the strongest militarily, if not politically, of the Iroquois tribe-but today was apparently a busy day. Everyone was stopping by.

"Perhaps your God, or our Gods, have thrown us a tool," Ravenclaw said quietly to the Frenchman as he turned to see the new presence.

Though Ravenclaw believed in the spiritual religion of the Oneidas, he was a savvy native-and well aware of the customs, culture, and religion of the whites. He could associate in kind with them without fear of offense.

Some of the French participated in the raid while some stayed at the camp while Massena spoke to Ravenclaw. So far, his operations in the area proved fruitfull. The English settlements lived in fear and were pushed back. The British army, occupied in larger theatres of combat, were unable to send a sizeable contingent to sweep away the natives. Fort Carillion, the nearest French fort garrisoned only 500 soldiers, a far cry from the 3,000 that were rpesent during the battle of Ticonderoga a year prior in which the British and colonial troops were routed easily by the French and their native allies. Though the French presence was small, their influence was great amoungst the tribes.

Massena turned to see the returning war party, carrying spoils of war. Goods, weapons, powder, other trinkets. But something caught his eye and sent a shockwave through his body. Amoungst the warriors was a little girl, a white girl, an English girl. His jaw dropped momentarily but he quickly recovered his even face.
"Massena, the raid was a success" commented one of the retuning French rangers by the name of Oliver. He was a good friend of Massena.
"I-I see that it was" Massena replied. His blue eyes locked on the small, terrifyed girl. This was dangerous "Tell me, were all the English annihalated?"
"No, the soldiers were Scots. It was quick and many of them still breath"
"Dammit!" Massena exclaimed, he quickly retracked his hightened tone "That means they will come searching for her." The British girl stolen by natives would enrage the population.

The Colonel was on the side of the road on which they were ambushed, he sat up looking around at the bodys that were being moved into the same general area's,

"Colonel sir! good to have you with us"

Guaire looked up to see the dragoon Captian on his horse beside him,

"They hit us hard sir, thirty dead another twenty or so wounded sir"

A sergent moved in to help McMurphy to his feet, he struggled for a second then looked around..

"And the girl? where is the little carver girl?" he asked..

The Sergent looked at the Captian then back at McMurphy,

"She's gone sir, the savages took her away....we havn't the resources to.."

Guaire cut him off,

"Thank you Captian, that is enough.err ..my son, Colonel Carver and Major Duncan?"

"Your son lives, Major Duncan was killed in battle im afraid..he was a fine soldier..and Mr. Carver is alive but with his remaining family greeving at their daughters loss.."

Colonel McMurphy sighed,

"Aye, that he was..may he rest in peace.."

After a moment of silence the Guaire spoke,

"Get these bodys off the road..we have no time to burry them, we must leave them..collect all munitions and fire arms...also what is the enemy count?"

"We are not sure sir but it is greater than ours...although they captured some of our provisions and supplys..along with some muskets, therefore it may be called a victory to them...also we found some Frenchman amongst the dead aswell.."

"Alright...get to it! we have to get going..."

"Very good sir!"

The Captian slowly rode off, Colonel McMurphy hung his head thinking..

Nothing i could have done to win this, it was out of my hands..more good men who died for their country..their own choice to be here..

Sometimes he had to remind himself that he wasn't fully responcible for the deaths of the soldiers under his command, this ambush did the trick for the damn Natives and the bastard French...here they may have sufferd a beating but it did nothing to slow the might of Englands armys moving on this god forsaken continent.

Colonel Guaire McMurphy would report back to command, get more help and return, if it was the last thing he did he would find that little girl and bring her back to her father...it would take awhile but it was top priority, the poor child he had been thinking...the Natives were not cruel savages as alot thought, they were civilized in their own way..McMurphy respected them and knew how they were, even though Emily was English she stood a chance at their mercy.

OOC: Guaire will report to command and tell them about it but there is a war on so he will be busy for quite some time against the French and their allies..i will continue to rp that..

OOC: Ravenclaw's outside the tent talking to Massena, so he can see as the other indians pull up.

IC:

"We have our means," said Ravenclaw. "Let the English come. They underestimate our ability of planning for them. I will get the Oneidas, the entire Confederacy, working to repulse their threat, and with the help of your great King, to drive them from this land and back to where they came from. Together, we can go forward and fight."

Emily looked at what was around her. To see the Frenchman eying her and talking to the Native chief, to see the other soldiers coming back from a day's battle, to see herself on their side. She did not utter a word, she stood in silence. She was fearful, hoping they would not hurt her. And so, Emily, this young English girl, stood there in silence, simply watching what was going on around her, separated from those she knew...her family.

Lieutenant McMurphy walked in the middle of the column. To him it was peaceful and quiet. In his mind it kept on playing the battle natives over and over. He remembered stabbing the native with his bayonet. It had been horrible... John's quiet had been shattered with the fire of a musket and the screaming of orders. John looked to his sides and saw the natives running at them. "Fire men, fire."

The men around him quickly obeyed the orders and discharge their muskets. The natives flew down in a shower of musketballs. As the men started to reload, some of the natives were still running toward them. A couple of the quick men fired off their shots, but most of the men engaged in hand to hand combat.

John stabbed one of the natives with his bayonet. He felt a weapon under his skin. John screamed out in pain. Falling to the ground, the native was right above him. The native was about to give the death blow, but gave a blood curdling scream. He slumped on top of John. John pushed off the dead native's body.

The smoke from the muskets was everywhere. John could barely see a thing. He heard the screams of men. There was bodies all over the place. He could see a group of soldiers, against a tree, still firing their muskets. John held up his hands and yelled.

"Don't shoot. I'm Lieutenant John McMurphy."

The troops lowered their weapon to get a better look of the stranger. Though one of the troops raised his weapon and fired his musket. John thought that the man had shot him. Behind John a Native with a tomahawk raised over his head fell to the ground.

"Thank you soldier. I think speaking as a officer we should leave and try to make communication with the main party once all this mess is done with."

The troops only nodded as they fired there muskets. John fired off his musket and started to move back with the three other men. They were entering the forest.

The sight of the terrified young girl began to scratch at Massena's mind. This was a new war, a more brutal war. Civilians were no longer innocent. But still, to take a child, which was not uncommon in native raids against the Europeans nor other tribes. This all still seemed odd to Massena. He participated in several raids, all of them still fresh in his memory. The shouting, the screaming, the war cries mixed with the cries of children over the bodies of their parents. His tomahawk chopping through a settler, his knife slicing across the throat of a young British soldier. Watching the life leave his eyes.
"Chief Ravenclaw, what will become of this young girl" Massena pointed the the girl standing some feet away.
