so how do they work?

Storefronts work like this:
A nation posts an item they want to sell, usually it is designed by the player, then someone interested posts an order. The selling nation then simply confirms or denies the order and it is assumed money is transferred although that doesn't actually take place.

First you should find out how much money your governemnt has set aside for defense. this (http://www.sunsetrpg.com/economystatistics.php?nation=Thugorp) is a good guide to your budget, but remember two things.
1. It should be used only as a guide. It is really just an estimate of your funds and you have more or less money in your budget, and in the end that is really up to you, as long as it is within reason you can also draw funds from other parts of the budget in an emergency.
2. from that budget you need to provide food clothes, and training to your entire military, both combat and support elements for an entire year(but you can use NS time which is fluid 1 day = 1 year for certain purposes or 1 day could = 2 weeks for other purposes)

Once you have some money you can place an order in a storefront by just describing what you wish to purchase, and you can RolePlay(RP) in the order a little if you want as well.

Once your order is confirmed, your military will have equipment to use in a RP!!!

Alternatives to storefronts are building your own equipment (that you design yourself) or using real life weapons (that you dont design yourself but do manufacture yourself)

what if I want to open a store front???

If you want to open a storefront, then first you need to make some designs.
You can do that in about a million different ways.
You can Google for pictures and then write up your own descriptions and prices, or you can sell real life stuff with accurate corresponding pictures and descriptions (although I personally think that is a cop out) or you can make your own images. Pixel art and 3d rendering are popular art forms that are used on ns, but if you have any other medium for making images you can try those too. Even if you have no artistic skill, a simple pixel line drawing in a program like ms paint can help. I personally enjoy making the images and the descriptions come after i have completed the image, but you can do the reverse of that and write a detailed description(some people write pages of description for one item! can you believe that?) and then make the image to fit the description.

Now military storefronts are the most popular but storefronts can also sell civilian vehicles, livestock, natural resources, even buildings! But you have to keep in mind you can only produce a certain amount of things. Right now you are a very small nation so what you can produce is limited. For example if you design an aircraft carrier and someone orders 500 of them, you are not going to be able to fill that order any time soon. But on the other hand if someone orders 1,000 assault rifles you can easily handle that.
Once you get (big like me -_-) you can expand your manufacturing capabilities to the point where you can fill almost any order.

what are the guidlines for production?

There are no real guidelines... but if you want one, based on a percentage of your GDP I would say don't produce over 22 billion worth of goods per year (until your population goes up and your budget and gdp grows)

all right I think that leaves me with only 2 questions left.

first, what dictates if one N.S. year is one real world day or if one N.S. yare is two real world weeks?

and

second, is there some sort of rule against store fronts selling things that are either implawsabule like lets say steampowered mechs or Van de Graaff theamed electrisity weapons; or miner magic type things? (Pleas be clear if neither of thies one of these or both of these types of things might be alowed and if only one which one; thanks.)

No rule, but you won't get a lot of customers.

Well, usually with storefronts, one NS year = one RL day. When calculating the flow of time in your nation, one year is generally two weeks, though not everyone uses that convention.

With some RP's one NS day can take place over several weeks of RP'ing. When dealing with multi-character RP's, it's a consensus reality, sort of like Wikipedia.

I always planet with 1 day = 1 ns year though in MT I play with 0.01 tech development a year or lower (a ratio compared to RL)

oh wate actually i do have two more questions. (though they are related)

first, is there any reson to buy stuff from a store fornt if I am not currently in an R.P.?

second, is it fround apon to buy stuff from a storfront while not in an R.P. and then use it (since since you do own it) in an R.P. later on? why or why not?

You can ans should buy things from a storefront for your defense and so when you do become involved in a R.P. you will already have a trained and well equipped military at your disposal. It is a good idea to buy stuff before you enter a military RP!
