This rp is set in the waning days of the Roman Republic and an alternate timeline of events. Sign-up if you're interested.

Rome. From humble beginnings as two brothers founded a city upin seven hills. From these hills the town grew into a city. That city became something more, something more powerful and adnavced than any of its' neighbors. At first, Rome was ruled by kings. Single men with considerable power over the people. Over time; however, the people grew tired of oppression and sought a better life, a more free life. In 509 B.C. the last king of Rome was run out of the city and the Republic established. The Republic expanded and prospered for several hundred years. The Senate elected two Counsuls to rule for one year to maintain a balance of power. The Punic Wars were fought and won, brining Roman domination across the Medeterranean Sea. In 82 B.C. Sulla entered Rome with his army and proclaimed himself dictator, hunting down opponents. After several years he was driven from Rome and the Republic breathed fresh air again. A series of civil wars ensued, notable Romans vied for power, Gius Julius Caesar, Marcus Crassus, pompey emerged. In 54 B.C. Crassus died in battle against the Parthian Empire, leaving the two lothers to struggle for dominance. It is at this point where supportsers of Pompey and Caesar struggle for supremacy. Some believe the Republic is crumbling, giving way to an empire if Caesar takes power. Fear, betrayal, conspiracy, power, greed, lust, war await the Republic as it enters its' final act.

It will be an alternate timeline of events in Rome with new characters struggling for control. Engage in political intrigue and war.

Name: Felix Atticus

History: Atticus comes from a family of minor nobility in Rome. His father was a successful trader and mother inherited large farm lands south of Rome. He lived a life of a noble child. Educated by an educated slave from Greece. The young nobleman enlisted in the legions and rose through the ranks, noted as a good leader and tenacious fighter. Due to his status and connections he became a general in the Thirteenth Legion under Julius Caesar. He served in Gaul for several years. As tensions mount, he departed the army and returned to Rome to reclaim his title and land after a rival landower attempted to take his lands and his wife, Servilla. His fame mounted after a noteable victory in Gaul and the Senate asked him to become a member in an attempt to gain support for the Senate as Caesar begins his bid for control. He is torn between his loyalty to Caesar and his duty to the Republic which he believes in. He is disillusioned by the greed of the Senate and the fear the have for Caesar. As civil war looms, he must choose sides.

Senator Marcus Decius

BIO: A Senator who refused to take part in Ceasers murder, Marcus still chose not to alert anyone of the plot. Marcus Is a strange man with wild ideas and a lust for power. He was born in Rome and has lived there all his life. He served as a Roman Soldier untill he was chosen to be a Senator.

Loyalties: To Rome and the legion
History: Quintus Metellus comes from Ostia, Italy. His father is a farmer and his mother stays at home with his two younger brothers and sisters. Quintus joined the army at a young age, learning all he could, displaying loyalty, honor, pride, integrity while serving with a cavalry unit. Due to his egarness to learn and bravery while in battle showing his born leadership capibilities he was taken care of by a veteran Roman cavalry officer who taught him to fear no enemy, use his head before his sword, respect his enemy, love his country....

Quintus used this knowlage along with other teachings the officer, Spurius Aquila, he was a seasoned hardened veteran who came from a noble family in Rome. Spurius lost his son in Gaul and Quintus reminded him, he took him in like his very own, taught him how to better his skills, stay alive and come out of the battle in one piece.

Metellus was tryed in Gaul many times during his posting, faught many battles, killed many enemys during his service with the legendary 13th legion. Eventully Quintus Metellus was promoted to the generals cavalry elite guard unit which charged into battle at the side of their leaders striking fear into the enemys hearts and cutting through their lines, he was recogized as one of the most elite men in the unit, Spurius was proud of his "Son's" acomplishments from the son of a farmer to a ferice warrior of the Republic.

As civil war creeps Quintus continues to swear his loyalty to Rome and which ever direction seems to benifit the nation and it's peoples which he has sworn an oath to defend..for now he waits to see how things progress.

Yes, your characters are most acceptable. I want a mix of fictional characters coupled with the real ones.

Ooh, I like this. Tag for interest; I don't have the time to write out a detailed bio at the moment, but i'm thinking that i'll be a fairly inexperienced centurion, which would at least give me some connections with senators and whatnot. I'll write something up either later today or tomorrow. Sound good?
