OOC: This is a kind of international research RP for scientists of the world to gather. I kind of adapted the idea from a Indian film called Krish which I also recommend as a great sci fi flick.

IC:

Proffesor Wilkes had been studying the ideas that were considered unrealistic for the majority of the scientific community. However Wilkes had a dream, a dream to get together the greatest minds on earth and conquer one of the biggest things in the world, what everything led upto. The future. Wilkes had become obsessed with finding a way to predict the future through science but this was a project one man could not to alone so he had sent a letter to the greatest minds this planet had to offer.

Dear Sir/Madam,

I have written to you to share a dream with you or more precise to invite you to help with a project I am undertaking. For many centuries humans have been obsessed with being able to predict events before they happen and many have tried to find a way mainly through themselves. However I bring about a solution. A computer so powerful it can predict events that could occur in the future. Imagine how this knowledge can help us, preventing disasters before any knowledge of them exists, saving people from events that are easily preventable. Many may see me as a crackpot but if we can bring our minds together we will find a way.

Upon the recieving of the letter by Zachary Troy of Zero University in our nation, we offer up the following comment. The notion of predicting the future is impossible because of the incredible variants that could arise.

Secure Fornelian Transmission:

Give us some kind of proof that you can get results and will give you monetary support. We're not letting this kind of thing go to chance.

Proffesor Wilkes looked at the reply. Simple and to the point, he though to himself.

Sir,

I am happy you have responded. The place to meet would be the Univeristy of Resa, the top university in Londim. You may join me as soon as you see fit. Preperations will be made for accomodation on the univeristy campus.

The scientist Dr. Marvin Harrison immediately jumped on a plane and left for the university.

To Fornelia,

It is obvious that many people believe predicting the future is near impossible. However since the turn of this century much research has now gone into this and has become a science itslef known as Threshold and Pattern dynamics. In thoery a lot of factors can be fed into a program that can assess the impacts of the factors n each other and the world and generate a likely outcome, in essence predict the future. In some cases the technology already exists in a simple form such as a seismograpgh that could predict an earthquake after taking into account the pressures of the tectonic plates and movement. All these technologis could be omproved to allow it so we know when these events would occur and allow action to take effect to save lives. All this is still ongoing research.

Upon arriving in the Air Port Dr. Marvin Harrison was arrested by Airport Security and has sent a plea for help from Proffesor Wilkes.

Proffesor Wilkes got in contact with Airport Security as soon as he heard the news.

"What the hell is going on? Why did you arrest this man?"
"Well he refused to give his name when questioned. As you know this is a formal requirement for all people entering Londim. This made us suspicious. Why would anyone refuse to tell their name? He also kept clambering on about some project."

"This man is here on official government business. Do not make me contact the higher ups on this because then there'd be hell to pay. Release him immediatly!"

The officer looked confused and anxious. He was young and intimidated.

"Yes Sir... You're free to go Mr......?"

"Marvin! Thats All I'm telling you! "Marvin said.

In his mind he wanted no-one to know where he was. If the Sith Government found out he had left his Island exile he was done for... He figured if he Didn't give out his last name no-one would ever know. He considerd changing his last name... but couldn't think of a better one.

"I'm just Marvin..." He said hailing for transportation to the University.

If that is the case, then we will humor you. Proffesor Troy is on his way into your nation, officially as part of an exchange between mutual universities. We also offer you a proposition. If you can give us a moderately functional demonstration of a working device within the next 10 years (OOC: Whenever.), then we will construct an entire facility for you to continue.

So this Marvin fellow was a mysterious person. Didn't matter to Wilkes as long as this man had the knowledge. Back at the univerisity Wilkes had received a reply from Fornelia.

To Fornelia,

I thank you for the interest and kindly welcome Proffesor Troy to this project. We are hoping that if enough reseacrh is conducted we should be able to get a working device within a few years.

Marvin arrived at the University and asked the Lady at the front desk where he was supposed to go.

"Heres a map " she said handing him a map.

"Hello I'm Marvin" Marvin said 10 minutes later after having found the Lab.

OOC: This RP may be going in that direction. It'll become more clear later on.

Marvin arrived at the University and asked the Lady at the front desk where he was supposed to go.

"Heres a map " she said handing him a map.

"Hello I'm Marvin" Marvin said 10 minutes later after having found the Lab.

Proffesor Wilkes looked up from the drawings on his desk.

"Ahh welcome Marvin. I am Proffesor Wilkes. I'm sorry about the trouble at the airport but I'm glad you are here. Tell me why are you interested in helping?"

"Well, I have my reasons. For one discovering this technology will have it's benefits. We don't need a machine to tell us that we'll be Rich and Famous beyond our wildest dreams!" Marvin Joked.

"Haha indeed. But we must remember we are not just in this for our own gains but for the world as a whole." Proffesor Wilkes became serious straight away.

"I'm not going to lie to you. This will take a long time, years even before results become obvious. Even then we will have to get continued funding. So do you have any research of your own that can contribute to this mountain of a task?"

"Not really. I mostly did work on invisibility stuff. I messed around with a freeze ray. Toued with a disintegration gun... nope not much future seeing stuff. Though I have been interested in it. It's just the Sith Government never funded that sort of thing." Marvin said.

Dr. Valentina Cherkesov from the Vetalian Institute for Artificial Intelligence was one of the first to arrive at the site. Like many scientists in Vetalia, she was almost now entirely machine, since the goal of their government was to keep these valuable researchers alive and kicking through whatever means necessary.

Her hair was made of thick metalloid filaments that gave it a bronze luster, and her eyes glowed both literally and figuratively under their artificial lashes. Reaching out a smooth, cool metallic hand, she shook with the other officials.

"Greetings. I am Dr. Valentina Cherkesov from the VIAI. As one of the inventors of the first strong artificial intelligence in Vetalia as well as our first artificial brain, I believe my knowledge of artificial intelligence, game theory, and quantum probability will assist you in your attempt to gain prescience. Gods only know what our nation would pay for such a device." She briefly shook her head and the metal hair clicked against her burnished gray skin...it was a strange effect that was both alluring and uncanny at the same time.

"Well... uh... I'm Marvin." Said Marvin
"You're a funny lookin person aren't you?"
Vetalia

"Not a person, per se, but rather a cybernetic organism. I've been undergoing this conversion for the past 10 years. I'm a cyborg, if you will. That is, for now at least; once the last of my organic parts are removed, I will be fully robotic. It's one of the perks of being a researcher; that is, if this sort of appearance ...appeals...to you." She smiled, demonstrating quite clearly that her artificial facial features were quite capable of conveying emotion as well as any natural face. And again, that same alluring, but odd, effect.

One might wonder if her purpose at the meeting was not just to provide input in to the project but to give the Vetalian government a subtle boost in its chances of landing a significant contract to work with this technology...

"Yes, and I quite enjoy it. However, not all of me is metal...yet." She trailed off, allowing the others to make what they would of her statement. With this, she pulled out a PDA and began sending messages to her colleagues back at the VIAI.

"Welcome to Londim Miss Cherkesov. I am happy you have attended this meeting to try and break the barrier of time. What compelled you to attend?"

"So... what part of you... never mind I couldn't care less. Anyway. Where should we start. I suggest with lunch, I'm starved!" Marvin said while rubbing his stomache.
