Droskianishk Royal News Report

Today Consul Kutz announced himself King Kutz the First of Droskianishk, amidsts hundreds of protestors who were promptly dispursed and arrested by Droskianishk Security Forces. This announcement was followed by the announcement that Droskianishk was now an officially Catholic nation. This announcement helped to stablize the nation since it is 85% (2,125,000,000) Catholic although minorities were slightly disturbed, most notably the 10% Muslim population. Laws have for the most part remained the same:

Practice of All Religions will be tolerated.
Production and distribution of Contraceptive devices is now banned in Droskianishk
Production and distribution of pornography is now banned in Droskianishk
Homosexual marriages and unions have never been legal in Droskianishk
Divorce has always been difficult to obtain and is now being argued over banning
Abortion has never been legal in Droskianishk
Euthanasia has never been legal in Droskianishk
The Church is given free hand over all of its activities (appointments etc) in Droskianishk

Dear Sir,

It is the suggestion of this government that should the extreme interference of religion in your politics continue, then the majority of your population, catholic or not, will leave your country for want of better civil freedoms.

We also suggest that the enforcement of religious beliefs through law is against the very essence of Catholicism in the first circumstance.

To the Sovereign of Googlewoop,

I would like to take the time to point out to you that very few laws have changed, other than the crackdown on those practices which de-humanize people such as pornography and contraceptive devices. We have taken proper percautions and the education on the option of Natural Family Planning is being readily distributed. As you can also see we are not forcing conversion or restricting the construction of houses of worship for other religions, we are merely legislating for humanity against the evils of dehumanizing corporations around the world. We hope Droskianishk will provide a beacon of hope to the whole world to refind its morality and sense of humanity. You have my assurances that minorities in this nation will be tolerated and will not be persecuted against, the only minority which will find itself hunted is the criminal (those who break our laws) minority.

Official Statement from The Authoritarian Empire of Pan-Arab Barronia

"Whilst we are a religious nation at heart, we spend nothing on religion. In our opinion, the place the church should be is outside of the state. We do not enforce religious law, save for what we feel is morally right - for example, divorces are hard to attain in Barronia, because we feel that marriage is a sacred vow, and should be taken seriously.

We urge you to change these unfair and unjust laws, for the good of your people.

We should also point out that contraception in no way dehumanizes people; rather, it allows people more personal freedom - a nation is quite within it's rights to preach morality, however natural contraception is shown to be unreliable - much more so than 'artificial' contraceptives."

While we respect your decision as sole ruler of you nation and applaud your acceptance of minorities, given the circumstances, we must voice our concern that you are forcing parts of your beliefs at least onto your population through restriction of practices.

We also echo the concerns of Pan-Arab Barronia. Religion and Politics simply do not mix cordially together. You should see our comments as a warning of what may eventuate in your political climate from such restrictions of personal choice.

We find it highly unlikely that your example will rub of on any self respecting democracy or indeed, government of any kind.
