The Training of a Scout (ATTN Wagdog/Closed)
Vetakan Defence Force Airbase (VDFAB) Theeb, Theeb, Newman Island, Vetaka, 05:00:
The Capitals Airbase lay on the northen outskirts of Theeb on the coast it was quite large compared to some bases of the VDF. The Theeb base was roughly the size of Theeb International Airport. The Capital Airbase also formed part of Theeb Naval Base. The Combined base formed part of the Capitals defence and was also the destintation of all incoming Vetakan Troops and all Foreign Military visiting the nation. As such this was the destination of the incoming Wagdog Special Forces whom were to recieve the guidance of the Vetakan Scouts. Vetaka's most elite men and its most powerful and capable weapon. As the Wagdog Planes appeared on Radar and confirmed by OBSAT the Base Commander contacted them:
"Wagdog Planes do you read this is Theeb Base Commander Jan Stevens do you read? Follow Vector 234 and land at Theeb Capital Airbase. Standby for Fighter Escort ETA less than 10 Seconds, Inbound on your 6"
7 Phoenix Militia Built F-421 Hermes Interceptors roared towards the Wagdog Transports its lead Pilot was a women whom was one of the best Pilots within the Vetakan Air Defence Force she was Katrina Williams Squadron Leader of the Vanguard Squadron she opened her Comm Link and began:
"Wagdog Transport Flight Copy? This is Squadron Leader Katrina Williams of VADF Vanguard Squadron its good to see you guys we are inbound on your six to escort you to Theeb AB. Stand-by?"

"Roger that Vanguard Lead, good to hear you and we are tally-ho on your aircraft." Major Yuri Rashtov commanding the First Squadron, Sixth Transport Wing under Wagdog's Sixth Air Force chirped to Sqn.Ldr Williams. "We have the 'cargo' to be delivered and are inbound on vector..." He wrestled the fair-sized Il-76MF transport into position. "...Two-Three-Four. On approach now, thanks for covering our butts. Alpha Lead One-Sierra-Six-Tango-Whiskey-Six-Alpha-Foxtrot out."
Back in the cargo bay, the various HQ sections of the two SOF units being deployed sat and waited for landing. Ten of these transports were frerrying some twelve-hundred all told; enough to give both sufficient intial operating capability of Scout-trained units once they returned to Wagdog, and also to provide sufficient cadre for training in Wagdog proper to begin along the same lines. Lieutenant-Colonel Rose McGuffin thought she recognized the woman in front of her. "Hey, are you that Major Terathrang? The one who almost bagged King Arma and then made up for it by bagging that Harris woman?" She perked up at asking her technical inferior despite the seeming incredulity of the odds against a meeting like this, since it would be something indeed.
"Yeah. With respects ma'am, what's it to you?" Major Terathrang was trying to put that whole sorry chain of events behind her, even if she had no regrets-as-such. Command had given her quite some grief over her... overzealous, arrest of the Vetakan terrorist; turning what might've earned her a two-rank promotion into a mere pro-forma single-tap earner before she was shunted to a desk job at her Raider Brigade's rear HQ, at least until she received word just yesterday to muster for this bizarre deployment. "As is I caught enough grief for two lifetimes in those. Frankly, I just hope this mission can start putting that behind us."
"I think so, Major." Colonel McGuffin didn't understand precisely why, but she already felt better than she had since scoring her major peacekeeping coup in North Calaveras; having secured an entire insurgent movement's peaceful surrender without any more bloodshed than had already been inflicted by Wanderjarian and The PeoplesFreedom forces in-theater by that time. Still, you got lucky there girl. How many guerilla foes you deploy against are so conveniently going to share your rough political sentiments, eh? Despite these thoughts, a greater sense of ease had been upon her since (she thought) they'd crossed into Vetakan airspace, in fact. "Personally, I'd just like to check out one of those White Phoenixes they talk so much about around here. From what I hear, quite a bird. A deal if we get to see one, eh 'gator?"
"Deal, grunt!" Terathrang returned service-epithet for service-epithet in kind, especially since she could tell it hadn't been meant as an insult this time. As the transport began nearing the runway, already a new friendship across Wagdog's notoriously competitive services had been formed. Hopefully, one to have much impact on the nation's future...
Clandonia Prime
08-05-2007, 16:27
A Clandonian merchant convoy was returning from the Praetonian colonial island chain of Fortitude, ten assorted ships varying from six hundred metre tankers to smaller container ships carrying exported products. As part of the convoy HMS Shrewshire the County Class Aircraft Carrier and HMS The Avenger, a Clandonian Avenge Class Battleship sailed along at a brisk twenty five knots. The tropical sunny conditions of the Eastern Haven were a short break before the rougher seas for the homeward stretch. The crew were in warm weather gear, the The Avenger's captain was in a white suit with shorts. Looking out of the clear skies, signalling the Shrewshire to the rear of the group. The crew were cleaning the decks at the front of the large battleship, the two turrets containing the power twenty eight inch ETC guns.
The captain was inspecting the gunnery teams when the first officer appeared from the steps.
"Message from fleet command sir."
Handing over the telefax print out to the captain, noting the classified marking the importance of the transmission.
"Hmms, reports of action in Vetaka that have ruffled some feathers in the Mod and Foreign Office."
"Do they have confirmed information that they were defiantly Wagdogian aircraft?"
"Yes, reports on the ground suggest there has been an increase in activity. I don't like it one bit sir, communists operating in the Haven. Its not to be tolerated."
"Orders are to move towards the Vetakan coastline to put in there for a 'visit' and to see what's really goings on, the Clandonian ambassador has been informed, the convoy will have to make it back on their own steam, I shouldn't think they would be attacked unless the Midlonians values their cities on the other side of the King William line."
"Hahah laughed the first officer, I will have the Shrewshire signalled for the course change."
The officer departed to deep bellow decks to the command and control rooms, the heart of the ship to have the classified orders sent out. Thinking about the rumours back home when Vetaka left the Sovereign League, allegations of them being communist traitors with a lot of nations that were regarded in Clandonian eyes as wrong being allowed to sail or fly into the region.

Diplomatic Communication to the the Vetakan Government:
His Majesty's Royal Navy would like to inform your government that two Clandonian warships request to put into port for resupply and crew leave at Theeb. The aircraft carrier HMS Shrewshire and the battleship HMS The Avenger are bellow one thousand metres and so will not require large moorings. Both are nuclear vessels so only require the resupply of general stores of food and aviation fuel.

Vetakan Defence Force Airbase (VDFAB) Theeb, Theeb, Newman Island, Vetaka:
As the Transport Planes came into land it was a beautiful morning in Vetaka the morning sun was gently complemented by a Coastal Breeze making the Climate perfect. A Vetakan Battalion of Troops in Dress Uniform awaited their arrival just behind them the flags of both Vetaka and Wagdog fluttered gently in the breeze. In Front of the Battalion Two men stood one in a Vetakan Generals Uniform they other was dressed in somewhat tattered clothes. The General smiled he was General Steven Ryback Commander of Vetakan Special Forces he was around 6ft2, brown hair slightly balding and blue eyes.
The man in the tattered clothing was "Crouching Tiger" he was Chief Warrior Scout of the White Phoenix Tribe and Commanding Officer of the Vetakan Scouts his clothes he had made himself he was 6ft, bald head and strong blue eyes. A Rifle was slung over his back a rifle he had made himself at his waist a Sword that he had forged himself he was scared on his face looking at him anybody could tell he had been in many fights. He looked on watching the Transports as they halted and the Wagdog Command Staff approached the Battlalion saluted respectfuly which was followed by the General Crouching Tiger bowed his head. The General was te first to speak:
"Good Morning I am General Steven Ryback Chief of Staff Vetakan Defence Force Special Forces this is Crouching Tiger Chief Warrior Scout of the White-Phoenix Tribe. We have been briefed by the Foreign Office and the High Command but can you just Clarify details please for example whom you gentleman are you? How many men are under your command and how many of them can ride a horse?"

Stepping forward to attention and saluting her Vetakan superior, Lt.Col McGuffin answered first. "General Ryback sir, and Chief Crouching Tiger; an honor to meet you both! I'm Lieutenant-Colonel Rose McGuffin; Executive Officer for Seventh Airborne Corps, and acting Commanding Officer for Second Ranger Battalion thereof. Six-hundred Rangers answer to me; men and women alike, volunteers and veterans all, with half of those recent combat veterans from peacekeeping action in North Calaveras under my command.
As for horsemanship, we can manage; although it obviously is not our strong suit compared to airborne, assault, and long-range foot patrol operations. My best respects to you both, as one under your command as of now." She then lowered the salute and remained at attention, as proper until dismissed by the General.
Matching Lt.Col McGuffin, Major Sheila Terathrang also joined. "Sirs, Major Sheila Terathrang commanding Number One Commando, Second Marine Raider Brigade, Second Red Banner Marine Division. Like with my Army comrade and superior, I also command six-hundred veteran souls in my unit, newly-formed from what were previously mixed SOF and mechanized assault commandoes until we were reroled entirely for the SOF role just prior to deployment here. Like all under my command, I'm a veteran of the Circum-Zansk War, and was personally involved in the first attempt to seize King Kang Arma for trial on simple civil-rights violations against his people; back before the Zaynite Genocide even began.
I'm a total newbie insofar as horsemanship is concerned, but I know of terrain where I live that it is still the fastest way to get around, and so I'm quite eager to learn all the equestrianism you'll have of me. Overall, I look forward to training with your Scouts, Chief Crouching Tiger; I've heard stories of their prowess that speak better of them than most nations' soldiers would ever believe, had I not personally spoken to other Marines from First and Fifth Divisions who saw their work firsthand in Zanski. Pursuant to said training, I and my command await your orders." Major Terathrang dropped her salute properly enough, even if more languidly than McGuffin had considering her different mood than the Colonel's, and also awaited dismissal as proper protocol required; even of a foreign General, and especially so an allied one of those.

Vetakan Defence Force Central Command, Theeb, Vetaka:
The appearance of the two Clandonian Ships rose suspision amongst the Vetakan High Command. Clandonian, Questarian, Praetonian Convoys all passed Vetakan Territory on a regular occurance none of them ever requested enterance to Vetaka before so why did the Clandonians want to make a pit stop now, at Coincidentally the same time Vetaka's Closest Ally Wagdog was in town to get some training for its Special Forces. Vetaka's Leadership was not Paranoid but it wasn't stupid either. After the arrest of Supreme Operational Commander Stone for possible murder Commander Taggart had been promoted to fill the vacant position he didn't want the job as he believed Stone to be innocent but orders where orders as he watched the Screens showing the Clandonian Ships he smiled if they really where wanting Supplies and Shore Leave then they wouldnt mind going to Princess City which lay south of Theeb and was the third city of Vetaka. He quickly wired a message back to Clandonia:
Official Dominion of Vetaka Diplomatic Message:
To: Clandonian Foreign Office
From: Vetakan Foreign Affairs
Subject: Clandonian Stop Off
Greetings Clandonian Freiends,
Your request to enter Vetakan Waters to resupply your ships and take shore leave has been accepted however due to Space Issues the only port that has space near to Theeb Port is Princess City which is some 50 Miles South of Theeb. We will make no pretense we no how you feel about us and our past decsions.
Under Vetakan Diplomatic Law we have no choice but to grant your people Diplomatic Immunity while in Vetaka however that immunity can be revoked should your people get "drunk and rowdy". Again Under Diplomatic Law your ships will be escorted by 2 of our Ships as such I have diverted 2 Pocket Battleships to escort you the:
VDFNS Golden Hind (Chieftain Class Battleships)
VDFNS Golden Bird
Yours Vetakan Foreign Secretary Thomas Lewis
General Ryback smiled before carrying on:
"The Military Protocals will be not be necessary relax as long as you people respect us it will all be fine. We see this not as a mission but as an honour to teach you."
Crouching Tiger now spoke his voice was calm yet had and air of seriousness about it as he spoke he saluted each of them before kissing them both upon the forehead although it may not of seen much the kiss of the "Kiss of the Spirit" as it was known was the highest honour the White Phoenix Warriors could give:
"It makes me immensely proud to hear you both talk of my people in the way that you do thank you. Now down to it we will be training to begin with in my lands high up in the mountains its like a different Kingdom up their anyway besides a Sword and Rifle a Horse is and is the most important thing a Warrior can have a Silent Means of Transport a Horse can take you anywhere now we need the troops split into three groups those that can ride well, those that can ride but need observation and those that need to be taught. Those that need to be taught will be flown up into the mountains by Chopper those that can ride will ride with us and you my friends will lead them!"
As the two Wagdog Officers looked around a 5 Ton Truck moved off and they saw them Horses some 1200 of them all grazing on the rolling meadows.

Well, I think this might be my last IC post until this afternoon or tonight. Arguing it out with everyone in you-know-which threads is seriously draining me, and in any case I need to help the cleaning service at my house soon. Hopefully things will resolve themselves, but if not the worst is a mass-ignore; hardly comparable to some of the defeats nations have suffered ICly after all.;)
IC:
"Very well, we are so honored as well." Lt.Col McGuffin decided to take the initiative here, seeing as she was probably the best with horses here of anybody. Walking up to a beigh stallion, she gently petted him and looked him straight in the eyes; those deep, knowing eyes that clued you in on just which animals made the best companions among the many species, horses being at least the equal of dogs in that regard. "Beautiful... We'll lead the way on these fine animals, as both masters and companions. I'll see which riders are at what level first though..." She spent moments asking the Captains to interview their soldiers about their riding skills, and soon her battalion was divided as asked. Surprisingly, fully half of the six-hundred Rangers could ride well enough (if still variably) on their own; a consequence of living in areas where horsemanship was considered both a necessity and way of life, like in Vetaka. The rest, about one-hundred and fifty each, formed the other two groups which separated as required.
In Major Terathrang's case, she knew what group she was in even as she asked the same procedure of the captains under her. "My thanks for the blessing. I'll be among those on the chopper though, so I'll need teaching. Wouldn't want to give these pretties a hard time just on my account, right?" Petting a shaggy mare, she smiled more contently than she had in months. Vetaka was already having it's legendary calming effect on her. Only some one-hundred each of the Marines fit in the first two groups, fully four-hundred requiring training in horsemanship from the ground up. As the independent-riding group departed to lead the supervised ones where the White Phoenix Chief would instruct, the day had truly begun it seemed...

The recieved communication was read to the captain while he dined with the captain from the Shrewshire. The convoy was several hundred miles behind them. Pouring Captain Sir Rilbery of the Shrewshire a glass of wine, Captain Sir Lancer, son of the former politician asked the carrier man.
"Danskeran reports that we are to expect an aircraft carrying CPISF agents to deploy when we reach port. This is of the highest OPSEC so the cover story is they are replacement pilots who will be flying home on a Imperial Clandonian Airlines flight back to Clandonia."
"Seems logical, I do love a bit of espionage! Where's the flight coming in from?"
"A Danskeran Submarine left the Virgin Islands 48 hours ago, the agents will be picked up by one of the Merlin's off the deck of the sub."
"Hmm, good then." Spoke the other man, his mouth full of food as he ate the last of the steak.
"The submarine will make contact with us later tonight, I don't expect to be up but as long as the are aboard quickly, we will make port in three days time where I'm sure the boys will be all to happy to sample some of the local beverages and liaise with the women...."
The captain chuckled before reaching for the box of cigars, the ship rocked to the side shaking the table.
"Getting a bit rough?"
"Yes, stormy tonight you would think nearly a 600 metre battleship would be able to stand a bit of swell."
"Don't make them like they used to." Replied Lancer joking as he tapped the ash of the cigar.
The vessels continued on towards port, the ratings and lower officers knew nothing of the plans, they were looking forward to four days of shore leave, a bit of relaxation before the long trip back to Clandonian waters. The Danskeran Class SSBN moved bellow the surface, unaffected by the rather stormy conditions on the surface, the two Clandonian Prime Interior Security Force agents were briefed on their mission, it was common for Clandonian submarines to rendezvous with surface ships. A skilled helicopter pilot would be needed thought the captain of the submarine, HMS Astute as it propelled itself at its maximum, the storm would dampen any propeller vibrations and with the sparsity of the ocean in this part of the Haven it would be unlikely another ship would be within a thousand miles...

General Ryback on the phone stood while he spoke and watched as the wagdog men seperated into the various groups he smiled. It was only then that 25 Mounted Vetakan Scouts arrived they rode in perfect line formation and came to a halt behind Crouching Tiger whom was by now on a beautiful grey Stallion the Wagdog that could ride now waited for instructions. Crouching Tiger began shouting to be heard although he wasnt very loud his voice travelled:
"My Friends unlike your unfortunate colleagues whom will be travelling to the Mountain Kingdom by Helicopter you have the pleasure of the taking trip from where it is best viewed from the back of a stallion the ride is around 4 hours to the Citadel the Citadel being the Capital City of my people. Now before we begin this ride although beautiful can also be rather dangerous please follow all instructions by my people the people you see behind me are some of the best riders my people have if you have any questions or need any assistance please call them at any time now lets get go....."
General Ryback stepped forward:
"Wait Lt.Col McGuffin, Major Terathrang may I have your ears?"
The Two Wagdog Commanders came forward one on horse back the other walking. The Generals expression became somewhat anxious:
"I have not been authorised to tell you what I am about to tell you but to hell with it us Special Forces must stick together 2 Clandonian Vessels are requesting to enter Vetakan Ports now we all what they think of you guys and us either Vetakan Security and Inteligence Service is as paranoid as ever as to their request and for once I am inclined to agree anyway VSIS is screaming "Conspiracy Theory" as a result although the Clandonians requested to port at Theeb they have been directed to Princess City 50 Miles south of Theeb. All though it breaks all of Vetakas Diplomatic Protocals a team of VSIS Agents and Commandos have been sent to Princess City to keep an eye on them. Your Ambassador has been informed and we will be continuing with the Training either way Ill be keeping you both updated"
The Wagdog Commanders went back to their groups the Riders rode away throwing up an imense amount of dust and dirt while the Choppers thundered up and eventually rose majestically into the air and sped away. Soon both Groups would be high up in Mountains.

The two ships of the Clandonian Royal Navy were entering the waters of Vetaka, in the distance the sight of to considerably smaller ships to the large aircraft carrier and the battleship. The Avenge was over five hundred metres, her huge 28" guns being cleaned after the nights stormy conditions. The mission had gone well, in the early hours HMS Astute in the darkness with a force ten gale forcing the helicopter to be replaced by a brave boat team from HMS The Avenge. The boat lurched up and down in the twenty foot swell, securing the 'pilots' taking them on-board the battleship. The captains of both vessels were sound asleep, used to the rough seas from their years of navigating the worlds water ways.
As morning broke the watchman blew the klaxon to announce the visual sighting of land. The Vetakan ships were soon spotted, the small vessels would be dwarfed by the larger Clandonian vessels. The plan was to stay for four days, let the boys have some shore leave over the weekend and be back on the way by Sunday evening with the two passengers deposited. The captain appeared on the bridge.
"All hands stand to attention, captain on the bridge." Shouted the Royal Marine Second Lieutenants.
"Thank you gentlemen, good morning to you all I hope you had a good sleep with the storm."
"I'm not sure the night shift had much fun." Joked one of the gunnery officers as he checked the visual horizon. "Vetakan ships are in range of our guns now sir."
"Good, they should know were are here now. First Officer, announce our arrival plans and distribute shore leave orders and for when the gangplank goes up at night, I do doubt that many will return back the ship but we can hope!" The bridge crew sniggered.
"I want everyone on their best behaviour, remember we are visitors in these lands and I have ordered the marines to keep a watch out for any unruly or unbecoming behaviour for a Clandonian sailor or marine, we are as much diplomats to the crown as any ambassador or consulate general." Glancing at the officer of the marine. Clandonian marines had some what of a reputation for their behaviour after a few alcoholic beverages.
"Yes sir, I will ensure orders will be distributed. There's a nice little bar in the capital shouldn't be more than ten minutes by helicopter. I and a few of the other officers are planning to go on an excursion, I presume you sir will be going to the embassy?"
"Yes I have matters to attend to plus I've got a rematch of snooker to play for. Well it seems everything is sorted, see you all in a few days."
The captain departed to the waiting helicopter to carry him to the Clandonian Embassy in Theeb to discuss the matter of the Wagdogian involvement and also to have a few gins and beat the ambassador in a game of snooker at least...
Vetakan Waters, VDFNS Golden Hind:
"Sir the Clandonian Ships have entered our waters and have formally announced their arrival here, They are ruddy huge Ships. Typicaly Clandonian the King Squadron has altered Course and will be inbound in 5 Minutes or So". spoke the XO
"Inform the Clandonians of the Inbound King Squadron and inform them Princess City awaits their Arrival they have been Allocated Moorings 10 through 20 a Vast Amount of Space I know the Government wanted them to be comfortable" replied Captain Daniels
"Aye Sir"
The King Squadron Consisted of 7 F-22/A Raptors their Home Base was the Vetakan Defence Force Airbase Theeb and had been conducting a Routine Patrol when they had been diverted to assist in the Escort of the Clandonian Ships although Vetaka trusted the Clandonains totally Vetaka was a wee bit Paranoid when it came to the Homeland and the Capital as they roared overhead its lead pilot began:
"Attention all Surface Combatants Squadron Leader Steve Hammond checking in Vetakan Air Defence Force King Squadron its good to see you all."
The Vetakan Ships and the Clandonian Ships formed up and carried on making the steady speed to port. The Vetakan Fighters began to Patrol Around the Ships ensuring all was well.
Princess City Police Department, Briefing Room:
The Princess Cities Chief of Police Charles Thursday was a very old man of 59 4 weeks off from retirement he was hoping for a nice peaceful last 4 weeks but was now somewhat stressed after taking a call from the Vetakan Chief of Domestic Emergancy Services himself Justin Masters after listerning all he said to Justin was :
"Damn All I wanted to do was Fish Oh Well"
Charles had been briefing his men ever since the Phone Call and now was no different as he entered the Briefing room he began:
"Alright Thats Enough"
The Police Officers quitened down and took their seats. Charles went on:
"Ok listern up people as you have probably heard down the Grapevine we have some what of a situation developing our fair city is about to host the arrival of 2 Clandonian Warships while they resupply and their people get some shore leave. Now we are not expecting to many problems however we must be prepared as a result all weekend leave is now cancelled I know im sorry all I wanted to do this weekend was drive down to Piper Lake and fish instead I am stuck here. Anyway we all need to be extra vigilant over the weekend the Clandonians from what I am told are some what rowdy after a few pints neitherless to say they will probably be plastered off Vetakan Whisky and Cider we all know the Diplomatic Law Act they all have Diplomatic Immunity however if anything does kick off you do have the right to arrest I have been assured by the Foreign Office and the Foreign Secretary that their should not be to much trouble however we need to be ready all I can say is be firm, fair and have a laugh with them"
"Any Questions?"
The room was quiet Charles smiled and went on:
"Dismissed Captain Foley can I see you a moment"
The Captain stayed sitting and Charles again carried on:
"This doesn't go beyond yourself although the Foreign Office is hoping for a calm weekend. VSIS are not so trusting and have sent us a team of Commandos and 15 Agents to keep and eye on things they will be acting out of Princess Airbase and will be under your Command"
OOC: Wagdog ill have a post up for the horse ride and chopper ride later today.

"Roger that." Was the resupply sent as the crew on the deck observed the attention their arrival was causing. Several Vetakan jets, what looked like the little brothers of the F/A-22 Strike Raptors on the deck of the Shrewshire. Royal Marines along with sailors were patrolling on the deck, stood to attention with their DR-83 II's. The ships rigging was raised with the colours of the Clandonian fleet, the Sovereign League flag, the Royal Georgian League colours and the colours of the ship and with the battle fleet it was associated with. As the ships slowed their engines down, engaging full all back to bring the nuclear reactor cores down to normal levels after days of travelling at high speeds. The ships berths were ample, spacious for the ships. Sailors already leaning over the rails with kit bags over a shoulder and a cheeky grin on their face.
The captain of the battleship had departed leaving the captain of the Shrewshire to oversee the loading of supplies and maintenance operation. The two agents were preparing to leave on the gang plank with the rest of the crew who were being allowed out to have the first run in with the local taverns and the local Vetakan womenfolk...
"Keep a good look out, I still have some distrust for these people, not many people have left the Sovereign League before without a very good reason." Spoke the Marine Lieutenant to his men as they proceeded to take place, air patrols and small inflatable boats around the ships. The large battleship and carrier would be an ideal target for any terrorist with a boatload of explosives.
There was a roar of applause and cheers as the gangplanks went down, the sailors thundered down the walkway hoping to get a early drinking session started. The agents made their way among the group, in grow-bags standard aircrew gear. Stern faced Royal Marines in their blue berets were patrolling now, a check point on the quay checking that only the right people came through the correct people with the correct clearance. Even with the ships in dock, inside the ship the bridge was busy with satellite and radio networks monitored as well as the horizon scanned by optical range finders and the watchman with the binoculars.
Just another day on the ship, until the rest of the crew got their leave...
OOC: Not sure whether to continue this thread due to the Hataria Situation comments?
OOC: Hmm... Well, we could have the Scouts and my men present at the Oath ceremony just possibly; since they'd be around. However, deploying them here was the key bit so it's really up to you and CP. Do note though that like you I'm not at all eager to turn this into a CP preemptive-strike thread, although my SOF would fight if required to defend my deployments to Vetaka.
No really, merging this into that whole mess aside from perhaps some mention in the Loyalty Oath thread would be a threadjack of cosmic proportions; and so long as we could OOCly agree the training went down, I could live with closing this even though I'd much rather continue myself. I'd say we agree this takes place back when I was negotiating to cushion the Hatarian colonial downfall, which was (roughly) where this started anyway, but that's just my take.

Downing Street, New Clanon City
The chiming of Big Billy less than half a way announced the beginning of the emergency four o'clock meeting after the situation with Hataria overnight worsened. The cabinets was filled with several additions, including all the chiefs of the military staff and the foreign secretary just back from a shuttle diplomacy tour of Praetonia and Questers.
The air force intelligence officer was illustrating some of the country's most hi-tech gear, high resolution pictures of Vetakan and Wagdogian military instaliations.
"As you can see here, what looks like an entire air wing is preparing to deploy somewhere. Our men on the ground indicate similar preparations to accodomate a unit force of this size in Vetaka, where I think you will all know there are several thousand Clandonian civilians and two warships."
"Options on what to do are critical, if we are going to act we need to do now. I've spoken to Admiral Dintronich, he's based at the Virgin Islands at Fairemount with half of his fleet at Southampton Town Docks. The battle fleet is on anti-piracy and general convoy protection duties. A few days sailing on full steam meaning we must give the orders now regardless of the situation ahead. The Shrewshire and The Avenge are in Vetaka now and would likely be attacked, we must order them to evacuate and prepared to possibly take out Vetakan air bases to stop a Wagdog reinforcement plan."
"We can't have reds in the Haven with an entire air wing, we could loose dozens of ships, billions of Crowns could be lost. I advise we raise our alert and prepare the Type 1000's and Sabres for anti-shipping configarations. I will if need be destroy the entire Vetakan navy to stop them from leaving to attack the Questerian blockade along with the others."
"Prime Minister, its your final call."
"Order our military to level three, tell Admiral Dintronich he has the backing of the country, bloody Vetakans they should of been annexed after even mentioning leaving the Sovereign League. Traitors the lot of them!"
The Prime Minister was clearly annoyed, smashing down the water glass onto the table as he left the meeting.
"What about their satellite system?"
"A Sabre can be launched in twenty minutes to destroy it with an ASAT. I don't really want to do that as it would endanger our own and likely cause a retaliation."
"Right, I think we've got all we need to be now. It's best if we head to our retrospective departments and hope for the best."
Southampton Town, Virgin Islands, Eastern Haven
The breaking news of what was happening in Hataria and the various governments had come in over night, the Virgin Islands being ahead in the hour difference were some of the first to know of the impending war... The skyline was full of the large Clandonian capital ships moored off in the bay. Praetonian and Clandonian made vessels. Admiral Dintronich was at his hotel when the flash communication came through, he was out of the door in ten minutes ordering the senior officers and captains to plot course for Vetaka and stop their fleet from leaving the Haven.
The klaxon's on the ships whooping in signature as their nuclear reactors reached their operating temperatures. The preparations for battle were commencing on the island as well, the Virgin Islands were near Vetaka, well within aircraft range and could be attack from air or sea. Khan anti-shipping missiles and Rapiar MK2 anti-air missiles were being loaded into their holders. The two Sabres on the tarmac at RCAF Fairemount were ordered to be armed with Falling Hammer bombs to target any larger ships that dared attack the islands. One of the large space planes had gone down on the runway at Kirkland exploding with a Falling Hammer, uranium fluoride had contaminated a large part of the base and one of the runways was well out of action.
Princess City Docks, 50 miles south of Theeb
Captain Sir Rilbery of the Shrewshire received the order from the Admiralty with Captain Sir Lancer already knowing of the impending crisis when speaking to the Clandonian ambassador in Theeb. He was already on the way back by helicopter, he ordered all men on leave to be recalled and for the ships to go to battle stations.
Captain Sir Rilbery was on the battle deck of the carrier, the air compliment of the carrier one hundred and twenty combat aircraft, fighter bombers. The pilots and their weapon system officers were briefed and the gunnery teams on the Avenge Battleship began identifying possible targets, they would go down fighting if it was needed. The Admiralty had warned that the ships would be likely attacked by communist forces hiding behind the Vetakan image of neutrality when in fact they had just dispatched a naval task force to break through the Questerian blockade.
"Keep a firm look out for any aircraft, if any come within twenty miles I give you the King's order to shoot down any combat aircraft." Spoke Lancer on the satellite phone to HMS The Avenger to his First Officer as the ships prepared to up anchor and try and meet half way up with the 3rd Battle Fleet.

OOC: Well CP was this your plan to begin with? Vetaka will fight to the last man on this. Think of WWII Japanese Resistance and times it by 10. I am on call from 5:15 to around 11ish so I wont have post a up until then.
Edit: If you intend to Invade Vetaka then put a new thread up and ill face it honourably but mark my words Billions of Vetakans and Billions of Clandonians will die may history remember that you did this.

OOC: CP, by attacking Vetaka, you’ll be dealing with the whole Dominion Commonwealth like what was done with you during that time. Be smart.

OOC: Can’t until you make it official. I only know what you’re up to OOCly.
OOC: I'll edit this to include some IC commentary if Vetaka doesn't mind, but for now CP here's what's inbound to Vetaka under the UFAN and DC banner. First, there are some few forces already in position since it was a while between when I started deployment in the Aid thread and your TG request, but not too much. They are...
600 Airborne Rangers under 2nd Battalion, VII Airborne Corps
600 Marine Commandos under No.1 Commando, 2nd Marine Raider Brigade, 2nd Marine Division
Eighth Air Force
75,000 personnel at full mobilization strength
250 MiG-39/1.44 Flatpack, 100 MiG-31M Foxhound, 150 Su-27SM Flanker superiority fighters
100 Yak-41M Freestyle attack fighters
10 Tu-160M Blackjack strategic bombers, 50 Su-34 Fullback (deployment pending) tactical bombers
50 An-225 Cossack, 100 Il-76MF Candid, 100 An-72 Coaler transports
50 AH-1RO Dracula attack helicopters, 50 Mi-26 Halo cargo helicopters, 150 Ka-29 Helix utility/assault helicopters
Miscellaneous support both ground and air, usually delegated to Army proper in the former case.
If needed, I can go with just some 10K personnel, the fighters, AWACS, Transports and Tankers out as simply "inbound" or what; but as said here (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?p=12630591) I'm deploying A LOT either way.
And here's what's inbound...
Armies as listed in the above linked post, Eighth first in queue for deployment with MANY more waiting behind; using all 1000-odd An-225s and such at my disposal once even air parity is attained...
Multiple Branch Corps sharing the Army number in Roman numerals (VI Infantry, VI Armor, &c...) with as many subordinate Battalions/Squadrons as needed, for administrative organization or use in an Army-scale mass battle (not that we anticipate any such here in North Calaveras).
Multiple standing Combat Team (company-sized), Task Force (battalion-sized) or Battle Group (brigade-sized+) HQs for organizing combined-arms operations as necessary.
75,000 personnel at full mobilization strength.
800 МБТ-25С "Tukotav" MBTs, 300 T-17B Scout Tankettes (5 Armored Battalions)
1200 БКЧ-1 APCs (25 Infantry Battalions)
240 БКЧ-T Tank Destroyers (5 Cavalry Squadrons)
300 БКЧ-СУ 122mm Assault Guns (used in an "SP Battalion/Squadron Gun" role for infantry battalions and cavalry squadrons)
50 2A18M/D30 "Lyagushka" 122mm Howitzers (Used as infantry guns for 5 Ranger Battalions of 600 paras/SOF each)
450 2С7А "Gigant Groma" 152mm SPH (9 battalions), 450 BM-30 Smerch 300mm MLRS (9 battalions), 50 SS-C-4 GLCM (one battalion), 50 SS-23 Spider SRBM (one battalion)
450 ТС-М1 SPAA/SAM (three battalions), 150 С-400 "Triumph" SAM (three battalions)
Logistical and miscellaneous support totalling some 4000 vehicles of all types (~1000 UAZ-469/ABI jeeps, ~1500 Ural-4320 trucks, ~1500 MAZ-543 heavy trucks) in 25 battalions total of various types.
Three Naval Groups as listed and detailed in the above post (Specifically the UWS Fingolfin, UWS Karl Marx and UWS Rosa Luxemburg CVBGs)
Seventh Marine Division, detached from Unified Escort Fleet for this mission...
Basically 8-10K personnel, 1-3 each of the non-infantry combat battalions per branch depending on branchy; plus 7 infantry and 7 support battalions, and one each GLCM & SRBM battalions like the Army TOE. More details TBA
Should this go down, you'll be facing at minimum the first arrivals for Eighth Air Force as detailed above between the lists; but IMO, I've had enough time to get the full AF there minus the Army-laden transports given how long it's been since the post I reference from.
