Impoverished Terramedeans brutally shot!

Outside the arid village of Tura Turk a van full of Terramedean immigrants were ruthlessly shot by frantic Wesmerica border patrolmen. At 12:55 am the van approached the Wesmerica Terramede border. The van was cleared by Terramede patrolmen and continued to the Wesmerica station. At 1:03 am gunfire broke out as the trapped Terramedeans ran through the dry brush of Wesmerica. A team of Wesmerica patrolmen followed the destitute immigrants by ATVs. Tired and exhausted women, children, and men sought shelter in a nearby cave. Sadly the foreign patrolmen entered the cave and opened semiautomatic gunfire onto them.

News stations were alerted when Michael and Patty Loor, two vacationing Terramedeans saw the slaughter with their own eyes. Patty, a forty-five year old mother of two described the scene as "a horrific bloody event caused the on behalf of those goddamn sick trigger happy bastards". The Wesmerican declaration to shoot anyone crossing the border was not an official declaration as Terramedean ambassadors and Prime Minister Johnington were not officially notified. As of now the Wesmerican patrolmen were captured fleeing their posts by Terramede border police and are being held at Tarnak Prison. PM Johnington has refused to release the patrolmen to the fervent demands of Wesmerican executive officials. Military intervention seems imminent. Divisions of the Terramede armed forces have been transported to the border. PM Johnington has stated that, "The actions of Wesmerica have been utterly cruel, barbaric, and is definitely not an accident but an intentional killing due to mass hysteria in Wesmerica". Johnington goes on to say, "The Wesmerican patrolmen will be held trial in Terramede for inhumane actions, we will not extradite these brutal men back to their home country! Wesmerica will have to pry them from our iron clutch of justice!" Terramede officials are aware of the growing epidemic in Wesmerica, but last nights slayings prove uncalled for.

We of the AMericas Union urge calm and diplomacy. War is never the answer regardless of situation. We would like to offer our offices to conduct negotiations. If war does break out, we want to be neutral and offer aide to both sides of this conflict.

Currently the epidemic has not been named but it spread rather quickly. Health officials have deemed it epidemic X. Epidemic X spreads via bodily fluids and water. It can only survive in fresh water. It can tolerate high acidity and moderate bascity. Epidemic X has a mild incubation period of about 1 week. Symptoms appear on the seventh day. Mostly flu like symptoms however things get progressively worse. We estimate that 46 people have fallen ill, 17 have died. These victims are live primarily in southern Wesmerica.

Larry gives a stifiled chuckle, Johnington senses Larry's apparent nervousness. "Sir they have barricaded the border at Highway 9". "Traffic is being rerouted, several more Terramedean citizens at the border we killed" Johnington interrupts "Is General Arzamas planning an attack?" Larry adjusts his grip on his briefcase and sits down. "No sir but the Wesmericans are preparing to seize Tarnak prison." Johnington looks at Larry he utters loudly "WE NEED TO STOP THIS...NOW!"

Relations decay! Wesmerican troops stationed 120 miles outside Tarnak prison, border penetrated! Johnington stands against those bloodthirsty Wesmericans!

Terramede officials have reported that Wesmerican armed forces have been spotted in Mitnak a deserted border town near the stunning Mitnak Caves. Approximately 1 hour ago satellite surveillance detected movement of troops and vehicles across the border and into Mitnak. As of now it appears to be traveling northeast towards Tarnak prison, 120 miles away. Prime Minister Johnington has ordered the deployment of armoured divisons to Tarnak. Currently Johnington is in talks with President Weshington of Wesmerica. The PM describes the impending situation as "one that can be easily avoided through calm negotiations, however we will defend Tarnak prison if they decide to attack us and we will not release the Wesmerican patrolmen!" On question of the senseless murder of more Terramedean immigrants by Wesmerican border patrolmen, Johnington replies "We determine the motive for these slayings and we demand Wesmerica to stand down".

As of now the border between Terramede and southern Wesmerica has been closed off to Terramede civilians. Numerous border town such as Tura Turk have been flooded with Terramede infantry divisions as civilians were evacuated. Other divisions have been deployed to intercept the Wesmerican forces. The foreign soldiery is estimated to consist of 350 men moving towards Tarnak prison.

The Commonwealth of Tolvan will be deploying the 12th Infantry Brigade, part of the 5th Motorised Infantry Division to take part in multinational peacekeeping and DMZ enforcment operations along the Westmerican-Terrameden border.

These troops will be there solely to maintain the peace, however any attacks upon them will be met with deadly force if necessary.
