doctor Guss smith walked down chrome mundanely lit corridor towards a larger facility , the lights flickered ever so gently as he walked in to a bay, the metal doors opening with a mechanical sound and a swoosh, the computer ai saying.
"Welcome to the Hyperion ship development facility doctor smith.. it is 8:45 am" Guss looked up his salt and pepper hair shimmering gently in the light as he walked in to this three story engineering and design bay, holographic consoles and crystal displays dominated the walls, his green eyes peered in to them as his rough white skin was lit pale in the light. holographic renditions of parts of ships began to take form, part after part constantly reforming as other researchers quietly worked in the facility. one of the researchers walked up to Guss and held out his hand and saying. "hey sir welcome your a little late..."
Guss replied with a chuckle his hand grasping the others shaking it "thanks tom ,and yeah i know been up late at night studying specs on various ships and on the new inter phased cores under development at nova research, I figure instead of using more conventional cores we shoot for making the ship carry an inter phased core.."
the other replied with a raised eyebrow "yeah that sounds like a good plan, but we need to modify the inter phased modulator on the core to encompass the ship.." ... "well" Guss started to speak.. "It would be wise to install a bigger on in it or in fact use both engines themselves as field generators, but.. that will pose the problem of if the engines go down you cant power the ship, its foolish.. how ever if we use the engines to supplement a bigger modulation emitter, it will be more efficient .."
"indeed the other replied.." Guss then looked to the screen walking over his feet taping on the chrome well lit floor of the facility he started taping on the holographic console. he started to speak again. "All right it looks like we have the sub light engines designed.. its simple we can just use UD-120 Quantum impellers Used on the corssair the hull is still being designed by the computer i see.. but its getting there.." the other walked behind him starting to speak..
"Sir why use UD-120's? Dyanmics has already come out with UD-121's.. they use Tachyon positive phasing .." Guss signed a little looking at the other "well you might be right and they might be better but they have not been tested, I'm planning to build two prototypes, one using UD-121's and a larger inter phase core and the other with a standard sized core and the UD-120's.."
Guss sighed again as he tapped the console speeding through designs and modifying things. the computer already piled on 50 % of the design it was looking good so far, but looks were not the only thing that mattered it was effectiveness...
The facility was quiet as researchers and designers and engineers worked quickly trying to design this ship... Guss thought to him self that the unions responsibility to the empire in this was a matter of technological superiority or failure, ever since core worlds began experimenting with space time technology recklessly the GE has been raising an eyebrow, so by using advanced federal technology and engineering skills.. (considerably more advanced than core worlds due to experience in quantum engineering ) they might be able to crate the most advanced frigate in the galaxy)..
He sighed alas looking at consoles pondering.. the design ..
