Dear most gracious Rulers
I would like to invite your country to a great sumit to decide the fate of the French land mass
From
Luc Temy
Nerom Foriegn Minister
"The fate of the French land mass?" Jean Saint-Pierre was, despite his usual calm mood, slightly worried and annoyed by that message "What fate? We seem safe for now, quiet in our ways and forging alliances with powerful neighbour nations? Maybe he wishes us to unite, to be friends, to keep an eye on our threats...namely Illar."
Alain-René was growing tired of this. Every week he met with Pierre, the opposition leader, and every week, whatever issue they discussed, he would overrule him. This man, a strong socialist and known by some as the true leader of the country, literally walked over the Prime Minister René and disregarded his opinion - but he still put his across.
"Illar, as I'd like to remind you - is not a threat, they have troops in our borders to protect us, not invade..."
"I'm a Socialist Mr. Prime Minister, the Italians seem like a nicer option for me - I merely supported Illar coming in as they are threatening neighbours, who would probably forcefully takeover if we had not agreed to let their troops in."
Alain-René sighed and muttered "For god's sake" under his breath, before saying "Anyway, I think I shall agree to be present at this meeting"
"Yes, we shall." René’s face screwed up with anger.

Luc Temy is waiting in his office for his main civil servant. When he arrives Temy askes John the same question he has asked for the past 2 weeks "Is there any replies to our letters"
OOC: If you want a reply maybe place a link in the Signup or hub thread.

IC: "What line do we take on this Neroman effort?"
"Well, for one thing, they've invited Illar. What purpose will they be able to achieve anything other than drawing all those nations further into Illar's sphere of influence, without Illar comprehensively wrecking the attempt?
Illarian diplomats have always been quite capable...I think they see it as a forward investment, before having to pay for military options."
"Very true. Though...should we have a word with the Anj? See if they can get the Italian Social Republic invited, so that it's not an Illarian dominated council?"
"Do we really want to do that? Surely having Immyr, Lyon and Nerom in the Italians grip will be worse than in Illars?"
"But having them contested will be best of all. It will cause relations between the two to be tense; it will draw their eyes that way. As long as it is kept short of open war, it will be useful to us."
"Very well. Send to the Anj. And prepare some boys from over at the Cypher School. They may be getting to play in France soon."
"Sir."
It was amusing really, when you thought long and hard about it. Just a few months ago, maybe even a few weeks, he had been dying of boredom. Now, Deputy Foreign Minister Christophe Devereux, had more to do than he had ever hoped for. No really, he had more to do than he wanted.
C'est la vie he thought to himself. I suppose I asked for it.
With Minister Bouchard attending the peace conference in the Anj Reich, it fell to Devereux to 'hold down the fort.' The fort had suddenly become a very busy place.
"What in the name of all that is holy could Monsieur Temy be talking about when he refers to the 'French land mass?'" he asked of no one in particular, mostly because the brightly lit office was empty. Devereux had indulged in a glass of wine (or five) the previous evening with dinner and currently was suffering from a most egregious headache. Add to that the fact that his job prospects appeared to be in neutral due to Minister Bouchard's brilliant and so far long-lived tenure as Foreign Minister all conspired to put Devereux into a rather depressed mood. And now this. This message from the Neromian Foreign Minister about the fate of the region.
"I can tell you the fate of the region sir," he muttered while reaching for a glass of water. "Unchecked war and destruction." His doomsaying made him feel slightly better and with a great sigh he leaned back to consider his options.
On the one hand, he could simply ignore the request. Ignorance was one of the more powerful tools in statecraft. It also carried the most risks. Not a good choice here. He could claim that the Ministry did not have time to attend such conferences at the moment but future meetings would be given due consideration. Also not a great choice considering the looming conflict and the Kingdom's somewhat exposed position on the continent. In the end, Deputy Foreign Minister Christophe Devereux decided that being proactive was the best course of action under the circumstances. With no time to consult with the Foreign Minister, he composed the reply and sent it off without thinking twice.
Esteemed Minister Temy,
Though we question the meaning behind the phrase 'French land mass', the Kingdom of Immyr is nevertheless keenly interested in maintaining regional safety and stability.
That being the case, I personally will be attending the summit in Minister Bouchard's stead as he is currently meeting with officials of the Anj Reich in the city of Plasmet.
I look forward to meeting you in person and I am hopeful that these talks can be beneficial for all involved.
Respectfully,
Christophe Devereux
Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs

"Luc Trevis."
Yes, that was his name. Well, for now.
"M. Trevis!"
"Uh, yes, sorry. I was miles away. Been a long journey, dontcha know."
"Well M. Trevis, your papers all seem to be in order. Welcome to Nerom."
And it was as easy as that. Because, like all the best operative of the Incognitian Government School of Codes and Cyphers, which definitely WAS NOT a secret service, Incognitia not stooping low enough to have such a thing, "M. Trevis" did not carry weapons.
This time, he was a labour activist. His instructions were to make contact with the socialist elements in Nerom; to foster them, make them more proactive...and push them toward contact with the ISR to the east.
It was recognised that the government was likely to flee towards Illar in response; this was allowed for. The idea was to force the ISR to act...and the idea of having Nerom as an Illarian stamping ground should, hopefully, have that effect.
And so Luc Trevis turned a corner and disappeared. He would meet with legitimate union leaders first..and as they sounded him out, he would be led closer to the men he wanted to deal with.

ooc post this on my fact file and working hours are good and conditions are good. Also Unions does not always mean Socialism
The Miltia has been called up and 2nd Corps have been rushed to the border with The Italian Social Republic to join with 1st and 2nd Divisions. The Engineers have started to create even more trenches and defense, Some have even placed land mines. When will the costal guns get here.
The defensive trenches consist of concrete pillboxes, normal trenches dug in a zig zag and concrete dugouts (the same as the ones actualy used by the germans in ww1)
OOC: I snipped this from the Donaghadee factbook for use here
"You will cancel your trip to Nerom immediately," stated Prime Minister Dumont, his hazel eyes fixed pointedly on those of Deputy Foreign Minister Christophe Devereux. Devereux's own eyes widened slightly at the Prime Minister's tone but he nodded in the affirmative nonetheless.
"Of course Prime Minister. Word will be sent to the Neromian Foreign Minister just as soon as I can get back to my office," Devereux replied.
"I know that you realize the gravity of the situation Christophe but it bears repeating. Nerom has suddenly, and without apparent provocation, activated its militia and moved an entire Corps onto the Italian border. With the powder keg that is the Waldenburg/Jagaro confrontation about to explode, the last thing anyone needs, especially the Kingdom, is for the fuse to be lit from both ends," Dumont said. The Prime Minister looked tired, Devereux thought, and well he should. He had been up most of the night consulting with the King before rushing back to meet with the Council of Minister's. He was scheduled to brief Parliament in ninety minutes.
"I assure you sir, that my acceptance of Nerom's original invitation to attend this summit........" His sentence stuttered to a halt upon seeing a forestalling hand from Dumont.
"I know Christophe. I know. It is imperative that we act swiftly now to sever any real or imagined ties to the Nerom government until we can determine what, if anything, is going on with them and the Italians," he sighed. "Sudden mobilization is typically a prelude to invasion. If Neromian forces were to cross the Italian border at the same time representatives of the Kingdom were in Nerom for a "summit" there is no telling what the fallout could be, both here in the Kingdom and abroad. I would much prefer to deal the fallout from a cancelled visit than that of a summit with a country that suddenly seems hell bent on starting the war themselves."
"Of course Prime Minister," Devereux repeated. "I'll send the message at once."
"Thank you Christophe. When Minister Bouchard returns from the Anj Reich later this afternoon, I'll let him know what a fine job you've been doing" In spite of his exhaustion, the Prime Minister's smile was genuine.
"Thank you sir. Most generous," Christophe blurted, flush with the sudden and unexpected praise.
Esteemed Minister Temy,
It is with regret that I write to inform you that I will not be attending the conference in Nerom afterall.
With the sudden mobilization of forces within Nerom, I feel it would be both unwise and unexplainable were a representative of the Kingdom of Immyr to be visiting Nerom at the same time Neromian forces were massing on the Italian border.
The government of the Kingdom of Immyr calls on Nerom to consider carefully this massive mobilization and we ask, one sovereign nation to another, that those troops be recalled from the border and stood down.
Respectfully,
Christophe Devereux

"Lunatics! Utter madmen! Do they want to be crushed?"
Incognitia calls upon Illar and the Italian Social Republic to, between them, sort out this issue with Nerom to their mutual satisfaction.
Incognitia will support any reasonable solution found acceptable by those two powers.
In light of Nerom's aggressive actions, we find ourselves uninterested in their opinion on the matter.
"That should cover it. Let the two major powers in the area sort it out between them. And should it come to trouble...well, looks like Nerom will be becoming an Italian vassal."
Due to the closeness of Nerom to the Republic Of Lyonnais the travel was conducted by automobile, and, Alain-René and Jean Saint-Pierre, in a fleet of about ten of these marvellous cars, to contain there political aides and security, had just crossed the border. When asked who they were, and what business they were on, Jean Saint-Pierre just laughed, much to the confusion of the man who stood guard at the border, and it was up to a much annoyed at Pierre René to inform him they were there for the Summit Of The Nations Of France.
The Republic Of Lyonnais was a larger (due to recent acquired lands), more beautiful country than Nerom in Alain-René's opinion, there towns did not have the same passion and pride as ones in Lyonnais - they seemed more regimental, more militaristic. Whilst the towns would have bustling markets on in Lyon and parades with children jumping around the grand parading entertainment, this country streets seemed more quiet, more reserved. Due to this cold army like feeling he had felt from this country it came as no surprise to Alain-René when he was later informed whilst staying at a Hotel in the capital of Nerom, Coron, that they had positioned troops on the border of the Italian Social Republic.
Jean simply smiled when he heard the news "Well, with our foolish neighbours making a move on Italy, only to be crippled if they dare to advance, it seems it may have been wise to side with the Socialists this time..."
Alain-René had taken enough of this "Oh be quiet Jean, it's my country. You may be the leader of the opposition, and lining up to takeover, and with more influence in my own government than me and my powerful government friends combined - but Illar made a better offer – infact, unlike Italy, they actually made an offer! We must wait for Nerom to respond to us with details of the conference - if they want to see war in there country, we are to distance ourselves from them greatly."

Dear Leaders
The conference will begin at once in Coron, i hope all will attend. I know many are wondering why we are mobilizing but i can assure you it is a purely defensive measure as i have intellegence that an attack is coming
