This rp is based off, For Whom the Bell Tolls by Ernest Hemmingway. It centers around a group of anti-fascist fighters of the International Brigade cut off during the Siege of Madrid. They attempt to reach Republican lines but end up joining a band of guerrillas.

The Spanish Civil War is in its' second year. Already, both sides are bleeding eachother dry in countless battles and massacres. A brutal war, unlike any war seen since The Great War. General Franco and his nationalist army, backed by Nzai Germany and Fascist Italy are pounding away at the Spanish Second Republic as it desperatley tries to hold out and win this brutal war. The town of Guernica has been bombed, killing hundreds of civilians and Madrid is withstanding an omnipresent siege by fascist forces. Thousands of volunteers from across the globe form the International Brigads which fight for the Republican Government. They are highyl disciplined and expert fighters having helped beat back the first advance on Madrid. During the Republican offensive to recapture Segovia, a unit of these volunteers is cut off by Nationalist forces and escape into the mountains where they join a anti-fascist group who wages a guerrilla war against the Nationalists and their allies. As they attempt to return to friendly lines, they are enlisted by the rebels to help them in a seemingly suicidal mission to assasinate a Nationalist general in Segovia. Will they succeed in this mission? Or will they die for this cause?

History: Mason was born in rural Pennsylvania. From an early age he grew up as an advent outdoorsman. He learned to hunt, fish, survive outdoors and other essential traits. As a boy he developed a lust for adneture and would disappear into the woods, often returning to an angry father who'd put the belt to him. His father worked as a steel mill worker and his mother a school teacher. He did well in school and went to the Indiana University of Pennsylvania but had to drop out after one semester because his parents could not afford to keep him there. Doomed to work in the steel mills for the rest of his life like his father, Mason was desperate to escape and make it on his own. As the Great Depression ravaged America he was attracted by the Spanish Civil War and saw it as a great adventure. He enlisted into the International Brigades and left hom to join the war in Spain. He's a skilled marksman, methodical, and devoted to duty.

Basically, this rp deals with the affects of war on the human psyche and toll it takes on a group of optomistic adventure seekers as they encounter the horrors of a new kind of a war, total war. Where there are no innocents where even civilians aren't safe and one must do anything to survive. They must confront their own fears and doubts about an ever increasingly brutal war. There will be plenty of action, suspense, betrayal, and character developement in this one, should be a good rp.

History: Miles was born in rural Nova Scotia.Miles grew up in a mining community,where almost everyone worked in the mine,and the beds never got cold.Miles didn't want to be like the rest of his community,the mines hurt everybody in a way,some were injured,others had lung problems,but one way or another the mine was going to kill them.

Miles always say posters around town about joining the army,saying it would be a real adventure and he'd get to see the world.Miles had never been out of Nova Scotia before,and he always did want to see the world.

Miles joined the army when he was 19.War broke out in Spain when he was 21.Miles always wanted to go to Spain,but Canada declared neutrality in that war.Instead Miles signed up for an International Brigade,and joined the Mackenzie-Papineau Battalion.

When the Mackenzie-Papineau Battalion arrived in Spain it was incorporated into the Abraham Lincoln battalion.Miles didn't know much about the reason he was fighting,he just wanted to fget away from his small town and make something of himself.
