Military of the New Soviet Union
The Military of the New Soviet Union is the Armed Forces of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics from their establishment. Formed after the reunion of the old Soviet Empire in 2008.
According to the compulsory service law of September 2009, the Soviet Armed Forces as a whole consist of the Ground Forces, the Air Forces, naval forces, the KGB and MVD, and convoy guards. Later the state security apparatus was made independent. After the Russian Civil War of 2007 the Strategic Rocket Forces and the Air Defense Forces were added, standing first and third in the official Soviet reckoning of comparative importance (with the Ground Forces being second, the Air Forces being fourth, and the Navy fifth).
