I have forseen my death....

Dreadfire was like a ghost as he walked the corridors of the Great Hall, his mind wandering constantly ever since he awoke in the middle of the night the week before. He had spoken to nobody for days and had refrained from even entering his private gardens outside where he had spent many long hours thinking, a sign that something was terribly wrong.

Lingering silently above the Warlord was The One, his transparent body disguising his presense within the Hall as he moved about. Dreadfire knew that his loyal servant was always close by when he was at home, and he was sure that the lord Death Dealer was well aware of what was happening. It was only when Damien returned to his throne room that he materialized slowly, bowing his head in respect as he had always done to honor his master.

Lord Dreadfire, I sense.....an aura of dispair about you. Pray tell, what is it that weighs so heavily upon your soul?

Damien eyed him quickly with a lack of interest. He then relaxed on his shining throne let loose a deep exhale, his eyes revealing a great pain and sense of sadness. I have seen the end of times, my old friend. I have forseen my demise and the chaos that ensues, for there are none left alive that possess the knowledge to stave off death this time around.

He sunk down in his seat. I am growing older....though it will not be time that claims a withered and weakened Dreadfire....oh no. My end will come at the point of a sword...at the tip of a bullet. And though I do not fear the reaper nor the Gods whom I've cursed and defied all my live, I do fear for my son and what is to become of my line.

The One brushed his longcoat aside and knelt before Damien, his wide brim hat masking his eyes as usual. Where you go in this life or the next M'Lord, know that I shall always protect your House and those that descend down through your line. Your son Azrael is safe on Freekish soil...as are you, for I will see my very essence destroyed before I allow harm to befall either of you. You are the linch pin for the greatest Empire the world has ever known, and it has been my life's honor to safeguard you.

Dreadfire smiled, for his pride was always lifted after talking to The One. You speak as if I were to die tonight. He lifted himself from his throne and walked towards the large bay windows that filled his otherwise dreary offices with shining light. Azrael's time is coming, and though he is a fierce warrior and has done both his father and nation proud, I am not sure he has what it takes to keep the entire Empire in order. I'm going to make him my equal in power, for I want him to begin to cast aside the image of the warrior prince and take up the mantle of warrior king. I shall announce it tonight, upon the setting of the sun.

And later that evening as the day was coming to a close, TV's all across Automagfreek were suddenly interrupted by a picture of the Freekish flag, then the image dissolved into that of Damien standing in front of a roaring fireplace in full ceremonial dress.

Good evening my fellow Freeks.

As we bask in the warmth of the summer nights, let us take a moment to thank the Gods for bestowing upon us such great fortune.

I am here before you to make an announcement that will change the course of Freekish history forever. It has been many moons since I took up the mantle of Supreme Warlord during a trying time in our nation's history and forged a new Empire that will last forever. Through a civil war and countless battles against countless enemies, we have prevailed and showed the world that Automagfreek reigns supreme on this planet.

But alas times change, and it is now with the coming of the summer heat that we see a New Dawn arising. You all know and love my son, Prince Azrael, who carries the title of Warchief and proudly leads his men from the front lines as his father does. You have seen him grow from a reckless fireball into a man of honor and power, and tonight he will take the next step towards becoming the future leader of the Excessively Armed Empire....I will make him my equal in power. I shall name him my Imperial Regent, and bestow upon him all the powers and privileges of leadership, though I shall continue to reign over the AMF throne until I either surrender my title or the cold touch of death takes me.

As the sun sets tonight, we see the setting of another old age. And when the sun rises tomorrow and casts its renewing light upon us all, so too shall we see the rise of a New Dawn and a renewal of Freekish spirit and strength. I could think of no better man to carry on my name and legacy, and lead Automagfreek into the future....and I am proud to be his father.

I thank you for your time, and may the Gods bless the Empire.

Later that evening Damien sat beneath the stars within the confides of his private gardens, and a sense of euphoria washed over him as he sat amongst the wild flowers and tall trees for the first time in weeks. His quiet reflections were interrupted by the sounds of footsteps in the distance that grew with intensity, the snapping of twigs and chirping of birds signaling a presense was nearby.

Father.

Damien turned his head slowly to the left to see Azrael standing before him. He was amazed to see how his son and grown after his time in the south with the Fallen, for his hair had grown long and his figure bore curves of hard muscle. Come, sit m'boy. The pair sat in silence for a few moments, then Azrael turned to his father with a puzzled expression across his face.

Father, tell me why. I know you are not the kind of man to share power, but I listened to your speech today, and it seems that I am now your equal. Dreadfire smiled. Indeed son, indeed. But the time has come for you to sieze control of your destiny. You know that I am not always going to be around, much less run the country forever. I want you to start taking over the reigns, though I would not dare dump everything upon you at once. In time I will teach you how to rise above yourself and become the great leader that I know you are.

Azrael nodded, though he still was confused by the whole matter, and Damien had not and did not plan on telling him about the vision that had haunted him the past several days. The two stood and started off back towards the Great Hall, for as the dying sun cast its last rays upon the face of the Empire, a cold wind swept in from the ULE Mountains above.

Meanwhile, the plates within the very crust of the Earth beneath The Forbidden Isle seemed to shift as an ominous moon began to emerge from the black clouds above. Then out of nowhere the cursed ground was literally torn for miles, a deep chasm forming while a giant peak began to emerge from the center. The tremors from such a violent plate shift could be felt across eastern Gholgoth, though little would know until the next day the extent of what had occurred.

The next day, a giant pillar of stone rose many miles into the sky, nearly projecting into the upper atmosphere. Its width was several miles wide at the base but steadily narrowing to roughly ten feet at the top, though none could get close enough to examine the strange earthen structure. The Forbidden Isle had never been explored, at least successfully, since the island was infested with demons and other unspeakable terrors that lurked seemingly behind every blade of grass. A dark cloud that forever lingered above the island was so dense that even the most powerful satellite could not see through it, and thus the only footage that could be broadcast was from out at sea. Scores of news helicopters and boats, along with a detachment of Freekish coast guard littered the waters to the west of the island as the sun began to rise the next morning, with all looking on in wonder at what had emerged from beneath.

The coming of such a thing only spelled trouble, and lurking deep with the depths of the gorge was a being that had not seen the light of day for ages....for she had been cut down long ago by the very one she sought to destroy. The vile entity could not yet manifest itself into a physical being, but it was there within the stone walls of malice and hate where it sat....biding its time.....
