ONLY IN ANDROMEDA! The Mirror War comes to Ri-an. (CLOSED)

OOC: this is the final part of the Mirror War, but as everyone is doing nothing, I'm doing my part. I'm using Fluid time to take care of my part, as it comes only after all other parts are done.

IC:

SR358, 12 days ago.

A signal flashed outward from SR358. Most would interpret it as a random flux in the backround radiation noise. It seemingly came from nowhere, and went nowhere. Easy enough to overlook.

However, some were watching.

The repairs to the Mirror Alliance were finished. Those in The Mirror Alliance knew full well what that signal meant. Thus, ships, seemingly scouting, or just passing through, made a pilgrimage to the dead unwanted world known as SR358.

The Kythons would have an entire earth sized world to feast on and grow the Ri-an invasion fleet.

SR358, two days ago...

A small Ri-anese prototype vessal, "Accidently" self-destructed in the Wormhole, totally unprepared for what was waiting inside, thus, The Wormhole collapsed, but by that time, it was too late. the Mirror had already found the Ri-anese backdoor wormhole. It lead to the far side of andromeda, away from Ri-an. They simply waited for HER signal. very little in the way of help would be able to come aid the peace-loving Ri-anese.

Last known location of The Lost World of Om, now destroyed, today...

In the main Ri-an Mobile Death-Fortress, she sat, waiting.

It was simply, waiting. this area of space was avoided as, "Sacred" By the Ri-anese. Even still, they couldn't afford to simply wait. That's why she wouldn't wait too long after she signaled the Alliance to come gather at her location, scattered and as innocent looking as it was, scattered in this Quadrant.

She fingered the button, toying with it in a seductive manner, teasing it with her Index finger. Once pressed, it would instantly alert the Alliance as to her location, informing them, that now was the time. Now was the moment to invade Ri-an. First, she would share with them, the intel on the Ri-anese defences, in a breif strategy meeting.

She looked at the button. All she had to do, was push it, and it would set in motion, a chain of events she thought she knew the outcome of, but no one was prepared for what would actually happen after all was said and done.

She was nervous, odd, because this was the moment she had dreamed of, ever since she had first learned of the mirror, but to actually do it. What would she strive for afterward?

She pushed the button, the location info flying in various methods to lead ships. She sat back, and relaxed. It was time, to destroy Ri-an.

The Novaen ships came at call, after their not so successful attempt at destroying their mirror native to this dimension.

Of course Admiral DesNiles and Vr'trk Kch'ych were there and had announced their prescence. They waited for official confirmation and invitation on board before doing anything. They had already done enough and didn't want to cause the slightest of irritataion to the ladt, the Lady of Fire.

they were invited aboard.

when they arrived, they got a greeting that no one ever wanted.

"Hi guys. Just wait in the board room, I'll be along shortly after the rest of you dirty rascals converge on our position." She said. She was never that pleasant or familier unless she was either in a bad mood, or nervus. Usually it was when she was in a bad mood, thus the fear associated with that manner of speech.

Suddenly the gravimetric sensors went haywire as several large objects phased into this Universe. The Worldships of the Kythons fresh from their kills had hurried to arrive at the source of the signal. Each Worldship was the size of a small moonlet and the wash of sensors from the ships already assembled read insane power levels from the objects. A sphere from each of the battles the Kythons assisted in arrived and waited.

After several long minutes, another object faded into existence as it too Emerged into Real Space. The spheres moved to merge with the spindle shaped object until a huge monolithic object based on the vaguely familliar measurements of 1 X 4 X 9. The huge rectangle floated in a vertical position and a single object shot out of the center of the black Monolith. The ship approached the Death Fortress and lined up for approach.

This Is Ga’Ton requesting permission to come aboard.

The two of them looked at each other, their looks said it all, The only good thing was that she wasn't here. And so they waited for others to arrive a their ship and the other Novaean ships just hovered in space.

Ga’Ton looked over at the new guy. He could read him like a book because it seemed he had no way to keep his surface thoughts from leaking out all over the place like a water balloon with a pinhole. He quickly ascertained this kaleM htraD did not have the slightest clue whose ship he was in. If he knew, then he would be shatting in his pants or whatever fleshies do when they are overcome with fear. Ga’Ton watched kaleM muttering to himself completely unaware his surface thoughts were shouting what he was saying.

BLOOD PEOPLE TELEPORTING MORE WITH OUT MY OK

Ga’Ton could only shake his head in disbelief in the naivety of this newcomer.

“Um, excuse me. Do you even know whose base you are on? I’ll give you one bit of free advice. Don’t piss The Lady off. It is not only bad manners but also very unhealthy for your continued existence. To say she is a hothead is one hell of an understatement. She is Fire incarnate and will melt the marrow from your bones before you even feel the pain. If she is pissed, she can be worse.”

Ga’Ton let his words sink into kaleM’s mind before continuing.

“I am Ga’Ton. Who might you be?”

Ga'Ton was pleased to learn the being in front of him was psionically unaware. It fit with the previous observations and backed up a theory he was formulating about the newest guest. The fact he thought Ga’Ton was human showed he could only rely upon the photonic hologram he was projecting. He was skilled enough at the illusion that even a medical scanner would not notice anything different from a typical fleshie specimen.

"Pleased to meet you. I am A Ta'Nar. You will come to understand what that means as time passes."

Ga’Ton briefly wondered what the Lady was planning on using this kalaM to accomplish.

Vr'trk Kch'ych and Admiral DesNiles approached the two figures, knowing enough about the Ta'Nat to know that Ga'Ton's physical prescence was a mere Hologram. They each decided individually to have some fun...

"Oh, you see Ga'Ton. I don't think our friend here has done his research..." said DesNiles

"Oh, and a word of warning to both of you... She's... pleasant." the last word obviously contained the tone of foreboding that followed such announcement.

The floor grew red-hot, then white-hot. Then burst into fire.

Laughing and screaming she rose into the room twisting and turning.

It put itself out.

Ga’Ton was completely unaware of his affliction as he spoke to Deuce.

As the floor turned white hot and the lady of the house raised, Ga’Ton canceled his little joke and the burnt stubs were replaced with fully formed and undamaged parts instantly. The stench was also gone as if it never existed.

The Novaens jumped at this command, and just as dogs they obeyed. They weren't to lower themselves to siting on the ground, for no they were still to proud but still when asked to jump they would ask how high and in what dimension.

No one had any illusion who was incharge, the Novaens were just slightly more on edge, at least so far the Admiral and Vr'trk where so far concentrating on keeping themselves alive to worry about the other.

The two of them raced for a chair wishing to fulfil the Ladie's as soon as practical, however once they were asked they both started thinking. The Novaens had earned their place through fighting both against their parody as well as against the parodies of the other members of the alliance. While these interlopers hadn't. Though they didn't have anything against the Isans joining per se, They certainly weren't just going to let them waltz in. Both had the same basic idea.

"They should be tested." said the Admiral "For once, I agree... " said the Vr'trk, "These... people... are untried and their loyalty untested. We should test their loyalty. "Yes.. both to the Mirror Alliance as a whole and to you specifically, Mi'lady."

Ga’Ton thought about the words he had with kilaM earlier and the tone he had used. He thought about the way his thoughts were tainted when he spoke. He thought about a lot of things in those few seconds before speaking.

“The way I see it, another set of guns wiping out those Parodies would be useful. I propose an insurance policy to ensure their loyalty if you chose to accept them. Once things are over it can be removed and everything will be hunky-dory again.”

"Agreed, all the way around. Ga'ton, I will trust you to oversee this, insurance policy. I am sure you have something most ingenius in mind. And a test of loyalty. three days away at Warp 9, there is a world upon which grow the most delicous gold colored strawberries. These Strawberries are very rare and only grow on that world, and only in this side of The Mirror. Back home, on our side, those same berries are black, and poisonus.

Needless to say, even one of these berries are very valuble and can fetch a handsome profit on any market, they are also well guarded. You will escort The Admiral and his Vr'trk friend to that world, where they will each pluck one and bring it back to me. They will go, without any of their guards or escorts. You will guard them with your life, and if anything happens to them, even if they do it too each other, then you had best run, and hope I NEVER catch up to you." She said.

Then she looked at kilaM and the two Novaens.

"That is of course, provided the three of you are brave enough to do it." She said.

Then, in a thought only Ga'ton could pick up and read

And perhaps one of your trusted servants could go along incognito. I know you Ta'nar can move unseen. The perfect spy, to provide a true and accurate report of what actually happens.

All of this of course, was assuming all parties agreed.

"And then, afterwards, I will accept you, and we can get down to the details of defences and how to counter them. I think I even know where Flow's body might be, if his body is indeed, on Ri-an."

TLOF thought.

"Agreed, all the way around. Ga'ton, I will trust you to oversee this, insurance policy. I am sure you have something most ingenius in mind.

Ga’Ton thought carefully about what would be the simplest and most reliable method of insuring their loyalty. He remembered viewing an old Earth Vid about explosive collars being used to ensure prisoners behaving. The 20th century entertainment video told a story how the prisoners were linked to another prisoner and if one died, the other would too. If they were to place an inhibitor cuff on the power induction cables of their drives, they could blow the connection remotely and cause their ship to flounder dead in the water. Suddenly he felt na-iR at the edge of his mind.

Then, in a thought only Ga'ton could pick up and read

And perhaps one of your trusted servants could go along incognito. I know you Ta'nar can move unseen. The perfect spy, to provide a true and accurate report of what actually happens.

Ga’Ton immediately delegated actions to a couple sub-minds. One contacted The Monolith and the other answered The Lady.

I want an operative immediately sent over to the station. Use whatever means to get them here quietly and quickly.

I have instructed an operative to be sent over to the Station. Shortly you should be detecting a psionic disturbance as he tele-relocates. Don’t be alarmed.

"you want me who commands a ship that can destory a plant by firing its seven Armageddon gun to go get some dum Strawberries and three days at warp 9 what are you using to get about, my ship be there in a min"said Htrad Kalam

Ga’Ton rolled his mind’s eye. This can only lead to problems. The reply from The Lady only confirmed his suspicions.

"Well then, it shouldn't be a problem for you." TLOF said, smiling, an act that would make those who truely knew her back away in fear.

On great, now they have gone and done it. They pissed her off.

if Htrad Kalam was human he would have said what ever and left but as he was not he just left in a wall of fire
sec after Htrad Kalam left the ship was nowhere to be find

Ga’Ton immediately threw up a barrier to protect the half of the room with the two Novaens from the burst of fire.

“Assassins!” Ga’Ton both yelled and broadcast it in a mental shout that would alert half the ship. Guards would be arriving in moments to catch him. The fire then went our with kaliM missing. The look on Lady na-iR’s face would have frightened anyone.

"If any of you see him or his ship ever again, kill him. Ga'ton, your ships are better than any other in Dimensional Tech, see if he isn't hiding nearby in another dimension. If he is, kill him. There is only one place they can hide from me in, and that would be Omega's Void."

“Yes my Lady. A KOS order will be issued and I am directing a Search mission to begin as we speak. If he is around, he will be destroyed utterly for his assassination attempt. He was probably trying to make contact with the Parodies when you nabbed them. Who knows what would have happened if it wasn’t for your quick thinking”

Both the Vr'trk and the Admiral where both releived that they didn't have to go on this mission and be the so called Guinea pigs for this experiment. "I'm sure you would've done it though. Alright, on to business." She said.

A holographic image of Ri-an popped up.

"This of course, is Ri-an." She said.

Two massive space fortresses popped up. They were large enough to qualify as small worldships.

"Their ships, and other defences are beaten easily enough with a little strategy and forethought. But this, is the most dangerous and toughest of their defences. The Twin Mana Fortresses of Ri-an. The Pinnacle of Magiscience development." She said. She waited a moment for them to take all this in.

"Honestly, I don't know. I'm sure of everything else, but this is the only thing that makes me even the tiniest bit afraid. We've detected a variety of unusual energies. We've detected traces of the Warp where Chaos Thrives, we've detected energies of another place completly polar opposite, we've detected a variety of energies in there, and many, many weapons. But mostly, its chock full of more shields than one would think neccessary, most of which cannot function with just one mana Fortress alone. But there are no recorded histories of conflicts in Ri-an space, so I don't know for sure what they do. I can't get close enough to find out. Not just because of their ships, but, there are energies similar to your Psionic powers there, its like a giant mind is nestled firmly in each one. I, I can't explain it. I know taking these two Monsters down will be the main crux of the battle. I just don't understand it. Why would most of their systems only functio with the support of the other ones, unless. I understand. That's not two Mana Fortresses, that's a single Mana Fortress. I bet you first thing their going to do, is make those combine into one, somehow encasing the world or something. I bet that's what it is." She said.

Ga'Ton shot na-iR a smile.

"No, actually the opposite. You mentioned they seem to possess many abilities that rely upon a duality of existance. If we were to force them together their power would become whole and it would be even more diffacult to defeat them."

"What I am suggesting is placing a planetary type defense sheild facing inwards around each and power it with Ta'Nar systems to create a layered dimensional bubble of multiple strengths. Then take one away to yet another dimension, further seperating the two entities."

"From our experience, psionics cannot extend across more than a couple dimensional barriers. We seperate them enough they will be isolated and unable to communicate. Once both are safely contained and their dimensional drives destabilized, that will leave the planet open for you."

"In theory this will work, but there are too many unknowns to be absolutely sure."

The two Novaens looked at each other, their faces said it all, they held each other with disgust and it would be too easy for them to fall into the trap of starting one of their petty arguments.

"probably not..." said the Admiral finally.

"I don't think that either of us would be able to stand that." added the Vr'trk So that idea was scratched. "Ga'Ton would probably be able to do a better job anyway, thanks to his natural talents."

Ga'Ton thought for a few seconds while the others were talking.

"What are their sheilds like? Do you think we can get a shot through? If we can, we can infect the Fortresses. Basicly once infection starts, amputation is the best way to keep the rest of the vessel from converting. How about incomming travel to the stations? We can infect the ships that are inbound and let it spread from there. We can even supress the growth rate so it dormant and appears to be regular damage from slugs or from particle weapons. We have used this many times in the past to a point our enemies have destroyed their own damaged vessels instead of risking other ships. It's great when they are demoralized enough they cripple themselves."

"As far as infiltrating them, a hive mind or qa distributes conscious is very diffacult to infiltrate. If any were to attempt to sneak into ours, it would be noticed by any near them. That has worked in out favor more than once."

"Now what I would suggest is to skip the biologicals and the AI. Toss anti-magics at them to cripple their systems that rely on both magic and machine to function properly. That is the greatest weakness to hybrid-technology, or what you call Magi-tech. It would be like running a motor while missing fuel, lubricants, or even power depending upon what aspect the Mana provides."

Ga'Ton let this sink in a moment before continuing.

"Another idea is to possess the machinery itself. It doesn't matter what anti-virus program is protecting a computer if a ghost possesses the machine itself. Once obtaining control over the computer, the spirit would have access to whatever the computer itself does. Now imagine if the psion were to possess the machinery of a ship or station by using CyberPsi? You would have the situation in the old movies where a person's body is controlled and the mind is trapped inside. Perhaps the body part would try to attack the rest like in the Living Dead movies."

"I propose a multiple front attack at subverting the stations using every ability we possess. The ones that work will compound each other's success."

An Aquamarinian came in.

"We've achieved success at entering the Ri-an Aquamarinian Hive-like interpsionic mind frequency."

"Yes, trying to tap into most Hives is asking to fail, I agree, but the Aquamarinians of this universe have a unique weakness in that, their hive is more of a massive internet than a regular Hive mind. They let anyone and everyone join their mind. It has the advantages of retaining indivuality, yet still having the advantage of a hive mind. They have no computer systems to speak of, which is why their hive is powerful, they remember absolutly everything, without exception."

She closed her eyes while she browsed the hive mind.

Then she uttered a string of dreadful curses and blew up a nearby asteroid. Something obviously had upset her.

"I have the information, I managed to penetraqte her defences. She didn't catch me." TLOF said.

She drummed her fingers on the table thinking about what she had learned.

"Ga'ton, your cyberpsi idea will sink like an ordinary rock in normal water. The other two will work nicely, once you penetrate their shields." She said.

She cracked her neck.

"The reason the cyberpsi won't work, is because the OS that operates them, came from the Warhaven computer when it still existed. The Mana fortress is operated by C.R.Y.S.T.A.L.'s daughter. Crystal is no ordinary AI, infact she isn't even AI at all. Warfare himself programmed her to such a degree, that she ceased to be a program and a collection of parts, but a soul with a machine body. The Mana Fortress is the same way. In effect, your spirit would have to fight her spirit, but her Psi shields are always active, regardless of the state their in."

"The rest of the ships are based on marine life forms and have the same structural weaknesses their living counterparts have. A stargon, just has a thick hide. A space Mambo should be avoided, they explode like a space mine when shot at."

“CyberPsi is the name for our ability to merge with machines. It doesn’t matter if it is a computer with an operating system or an automobile. We possess the body of the machine itself. If there is an AI aboard then it will find it cannot control its body as easily because parts no longer respond to its commands. Think of a ghost possessing the aforementioned auto and making the brakes fail even though there is no reason for them to fail mechanically.”

“Also, the forced takeover would occur when it was least expected and most advantageous, like during the attack when they try to merge. When the controlling spirit was busy being stressed out about the attack it would find important system would not function correctly. Even if it was programmed by a deity, there are limits and stress would expose cracks to be exploited. Especially when the failures could also be accredited to failures from Anti-Magic attacks affecting the systems too.”

“Even if the Psi were detected, the controller would have to ferret out the numerous invaders while having to control its own systems and putting up with the Anti-Magic attacks. "I'm afraid you don't quite understand, that's already been thought of and prepared for. I couldn't quite access how, but its already been prepared for.
If you or anything else tries to posses them, you will be ripped and torn asunder as easily as wet paper."

OOC: The Aquamarinians can do Cyberpsi too, if you can do something, wouldn't it be natural to assume another can do it to some degree too? Therefore, it would be only natural to build related defences into your defences.

Now, keeping that in mind, another part she couldn't access, or know about, is the fact that the second cyberpsi possession is tried on the Mana fortresses, if its successful, it will blow itself up in retaliation. Cyberpsi cannot stop this, its automatic. If Crustal cannot access her systems, she cannot stop them from self destructing, using codes only she knows. Their in a constant state of self-destruct, held in place only by Crystal. Thus, your plan will both succeed and fail, in that you eliminate the fortresses, but not in the manner you thought you were going to.

I can't wait to see Ga'ton versus King Mark the Angry, one of the five royal Aquamarinians, and as the name suggusts, leader of Aquamarinian offenses.
