TRIMARAN

CALYPSO CLASS DREADNAUGHT EXCLUSIVE
Image of GN-3 Railgun (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v297/Granzi/c2806d61.gif)

Originally designed by Hybalt Defense Industries for Sarzonia, the plans were never put into effect due to technological constraints. Now redesigned to reflect changes in the armament and with additional advanced sensors and systems, the Calypso Class has breathed new life. Armed with a 20 inch ETK railgun, it is specifically designed to perform as a shore bombardment platform. The long single barrel serves to accelerate the round fired, producing devastating damage on impact.

The vessel itself is subdivided into 40 watertight compartments below the waterline. If needed, they can be sealed off individually in case the hull is breached. The engine rooms are located in 4 separate compartments, to reduce the possibility of a direct hit disrupting the power supply. Vital functions, such as engines/fuel storage are clustered near the center of the main hull, allowing the secondary hulls to shield them from direct fire.

The Calypso Class is armored with several layers of material which complement each other. The outer covering is made of a ceramic mix, fired in ovens and arranged plate by plate. Built for defense against kinetic-based weaponry, it diffuses the energy of contact and spreads the shock out along the outside of the ship. A titanium composite strengthened with heat resistant metals is underneath. This second layer is lightweight, yet incredibly strong proof against explosive weaponry. Special care has been taken to armor the traditionally weak area of the vessel, including beneath the waterline, around magazines and storage chambers, surrounding the propulsion system, and fire control/gunnery positions. The strongest sectors are the turrets, especially at the base, ship control and navigation center (bridge), and along the broadside.

Weaponry aboard the ship is built to outmatch those of similar designs. 2 triple turrets of Electro/Thermal Kinetic Guns seek to provide a dual blow. Constructed to fire the MGA-12 "Ironstorm" round, the shot consists of a solid 2000 lb. reinforced steel/titanium slug. The projectile relied on the massive kinetic force generated from impact to cause damage, benefiting from an armor piercing, arrow-dynamic shape to increase speed and performance. One of the few type of shells built to penetrate heavily armored targets. Recoil is minimal due to extensive dampening. This can be substituted by another round.

Beyond the larger guns, dozens of smaller ones protect the ship in close quarter combat. GK26 missile launchers are for anti-ship combat. They are usually launched in groups of up to one hundred missiles at the same time. Automated tracking systems with a human override assign targets to each missile, factoring in the relative importance of each foe and success of strike. Similar systems work with the VLS, usually used to deliver cruise missiles or tactical missile strikes. The GR-25B CIWS/RAM system combines aspects of both, providing high aspects of success, superior guidance, and delivery (high rate of fire). Torpedoes have a separate guidance system to prevent enemy EW interference. Ten helicopters can be housed at once in the spacious hanger, equipped with a machinery and repair shop.

All weaponry is laser guided and radar guided, directed from fire control armed with state of the art sensors and constant feeds from other sources, such as satellites. A secure and wireless receiver to an encrypted channel allows for rapid communication of orders and close coordination of fleet movements. There are the standard navigational suites, and long-range radar. Surface tracking and targeting matrixes work together to simultaneously record the actions of up to several hundred vessels. An entire system of defensive measures share information and coordinate actions against threats. These include decoys, burst fire, concentrated fire, etc. In essence the entire ship is networked together in order to streamline and make efficient procedures, while in battle or out.

CHAMPLAIN CLASS FRIGATE EXCLUSIVE

http://img78.photobucket.com/albums/v297/Granzi/Hybalt%20Shipyards%20Trimaran/c_frigate.gif

Despite the success of the Lionfish Class, Hybalt was still lacking a heavier, harder-hitting trimaran frigate in its inventory. It is with this in mind that our engineers drew up the Champlain Class Frigates. Larger and better armored than the Lionfish, it abandons the use of light armament in favor of an 8-inch ET gun designed to punch through the metal plating of enemy vessels. HYBALT RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT

Hybalt Defense Industries has begun a new service aimed at better meeting our customers’ needs. Custom designs are now available to the international community at reasonable commission rates. Should your military not find the equipment among our current inventory that will fulfill its exact requirements, our expert engineers and technicians stand ready to fill the gap. Simply state the project’s rough guidelines, and within one RL week, we will return a specially tailored proposal for your review. Complete contract details can be viewed below:

1. This contract is legal and binding.
2. An employment fee will be agreed upon between Hybalt Defense Industries and the contracting party before work commences. This fee covers any liability that may be incurred by our company in the duration of our design work. (Usually $10 billion, varies depending on the size and scope of the project.)
3. In addition, Hybalt Defense Industries will receive payment equal to the value of the final product at completion should the contracting party choose to purchase production rights.
4. Hybalt Defense Industries, unless previously barred by contract, will maintain sale rights of said design.
5. If the contracting party rejects the initial proposal submitted by our design team, they have the right to request another proposal at no additional cost.
6. If the contracting party terminates their order after commencement and prior to completion, a penalty amounting to 50% of the value of the final product will be leveled on said party.
7. Hybalt Defense Industries reserves the right to refuse service for any reason.

Particulars of the project can be worked out prior to commission.

RE: Asgarnian Arms Purchase

Hybalt Defense Industries is pleased in the trust that the United Democratic Empire of Asgarnieu has placed in our products. We estimate that your aircraft carriers will take approximately 25 NS years to complete. The length of construction is somewhat longer than normal due to the fact that our shipyards have only recently been re-finished following the Granzian Second Civil War. Our sincere apologies for the inconvenience. At the end of every fiscal year, those vessels that have completed sea trials will be delivered to the port of entry specified by the Asgarnian Naval Force.

As for your inquiry, HDI has a consistent record of releasing new and innovative military hardware for export. In addition, we are currently updating our inventory, so look for new products to be made available soon.

Thank you,

Thank you very much. Twenty five years is a bit longer than expected, for we need to rush as many units into service as possible. Is there any way we can help speed up the process? We can pour extra money into the construction phases if necessary.

We are willing to do anything to get this done in under ten years.

Thank you.

Money is not an object. If your government has shipyard facilities HDI can temporarily acquire for the duration of the project, we can shorten construction time to about 10 NS years. Hello,

My nation is facing the imminent threat of conflict with a foreign power, and my superiors have asked that I locate warships suited to the commerce raid mission, which we believe will be essential to victory in this upcoming military conflict.

For this purpose, I wish to arrange the following purchases:

• 4 Expeditionary Force Group Packages

My financiers tell me this should cost us $54,000,000,000 total. Would a payment plan in installments be acceptable to you?

Emporer Pudu
17-05-2007, 15:01
To: Hybalt Naval Yards
From: Mr. White, foreign affairs officer

Following the reorganization of your corporation and the stabilization of your nation, following an unfortunate period of chaos of which I am sure you are uniquely aware, our Dominion has decided to place in you our faith, and have thusly chosen you to be our primary naval supplier in both the present and future.

Our Emperor prides himself in a large navy, and for years he have had to do with second-rate ships, as he could not bring himself to separate his tastes from those acquired when we first did business with you, years ago. Holdovers from those old transactions still find their way through the Imperial Navy, and now they will be joined by many thousands of kinsmen.

What we are preparing to ask of you is a very (very) extensive order, and should you like, we would be willing to take from you the burden of production, and devote our own industries to the task, under close supervision from your engineers and designers, of course. We would permit a delegation of any size entrance to our Dominion, in every center of production, and would provide for them the finest hospitality we can muster. Such deals have succeeded in the past with representatives of the Dat' Pizdy Arms corporation, our primary land and airborne warfare supplier, and we are sure they would suit you.

Regarding our purchase, we are interested in, over the next few years, refitting the whole of our navy, but for obvious reasons, we cannot do so all at once. For these reasons, we have decided to take the orders piece by piece, and would like to purchase now a rather large compliment of escort and lighter craft, as well as some significant capital ships.

We will start with this, and as time goes on, our orders will be repeated until we are satisfied with the results. This will be a major undertaking, and we are prepared to pay, should you be prepared to receive.

Specifically, we would like to purchase the following fleet;

48 Calypso Mk.III Class Trimaran Dreadnaughts,
91 Roydia RefitA Class Battleships,
36 Vengeance Class Supercarriers,
144 Glacier Class Trimaran Fleet Carriers,
782 Athios Class Light Carriers
SUBTOTAL: $8,094,200,000,000

228 Helina Class Battlecruisers (nuclear propulsion model),
270 Carthage Class Air Defense Cruisers,
390 Portlandia Class Missile Cruisers,
450 Triara Class Light Cruisers
SUBTOTAL: $2,338,800,000,000

510 Swiftsure Class Trimaran Destroyers,
530 Adari Class Air Defense Destroyers,
961 Atlantia Class AEGIS Destroyers,
175 Fredora Class AAW Destroyers,
645 Royale Class Frigate,
380 Champlain Class Trimaran Frigates,
485 Grevant Class Missile Frigates,
420 Lionfish Class Trimaran Missile Frigates
SUBTOTAL: $5,057,950,000,000

This comes to a grand total cost of $15,490,950,000,000; or, fifteen trillion, four-hundred and ninety billion, nine-hundred and fifty million Universal Standard Dollars. This is within the procurement budget for our Imperial Navy this year.

[Upon review, we have noted that you have offered, for the next pair of orders totaling more than ten-billion, you would offer a 10% discount. I do believe our total applies us for such a discount. The renewed figures will stand at $1,549,095,000,000; or, one-trillion, five-hundred and forty-nine billion, and ninety-five million Universal Standard Dollars.]

We understand that this is indeed a massive order, hence our offer of domestic production, under your close supervision, as outlined. If this is acceptable, we shall return for further naval outfitting in the future, as we rebuild our navy.

Good day,
Mr. White

RE: Naval Purchase

Hybalt Defense Industries thanks the nation of Emporer Pudu for placing your military's confidence on our products. It is at once humbling and validating of our continued efforts to bring the highest quality military products to our international customers. In regards to the production schedule, our technicians estimate that with the proper facilities in the Dominion working in collaboration with HDI shipyards, the fleet can be completed in 30 NS years. Representatives from our headquarters in Granzi City will be arriving in the Dominion soon to work out the specific details.

Please note that the sale discount of 3% applies in addition to the 3% reduction placed on bulk purchases. As such, your order qualifies for a total 6% discount, meaning the total cost comes to $14,561,493,000,000. We are more than willing to accept an installment plan whereas each payment is timed with the release of vessels over 30 NS year.

In addition, due to the fact that the Dominion may undertake further expansion programs, I suggest that your nation look into the prospect of purchasing HDI stock. HDI shareholders of at least 500 million shares qualify for a 5% discount when purchasing from our storefront. In addition, HDI shareholders have received consistent returns on their investment through dividends and high stock performance.

We are currently looking to fully replace our naval forces, and are currently browsing the market. Our current naval forces are beginning to show their age, and we are currently able to spend US$2.5 Trillion, just under two-thirds of our budget for this year. Most ships we are currently using are being sold on, which we believe shall provide for the majority of the available funds.

If possible, we would appreciate a small report of your suggestions, and, if possible, a naval package for a navy specialising in big-gun warfare, with a small Fleet Air Arm but looking to expand. Our Submarine Service has always been small, as we do not primarily deal in WMDs (and with no desire to expand), so our main submarine force would be hunter-killers.

Ideally, we would also like aircraft to be included in this package, although we would be fully willing to work with you on this.

RE: Naval Contract

Hybalt Defense Industries is honored that the nation of Pan-Arab Barronia has selected our corporation in your search for a defense contractor. We would be very open to negotiating a suitable naval package that will fulfill the specifications outlined.

Preliminary plans drawn by our technicians envision the creation of a navy that revolves around the concept of centralized fleets. These fleets would serve as the main task force under most situations, well equipped with both surface assets and a naval aerial presence. Each fleet would be capable of operating independently or in conjunction under the overall command of a theater admiral. In addition, the subgroups within these fleets could be detached on short notice to perform more specific tasks, ranging from amphibious assault, coastal patrol, or rapid strikes into enemy territory.

Following more intensive feedback from your government, HDI will be prepared to present a full proposal in the near future.

We are exceptionally pleased that HDI is willing to take on this venture. We are very much impressed by the speed at which your technicians work, and by the plans they have prepared.

For further information, the navy would be primarily used for peace enforcement roles, humanitarian aid missions, and homeland defence. We feel a strong need for the communications to be compatitable with current systems, and preferably OBSAT-compatitable, although we would be prepared to carry these works out ourselves (with your permission).

If you require any further information, do not hesitate to let us know.

The Commonwealth of Tolvan would like to acquire seven Athios Class light carriers for convoy escort and sea control duties.

However, we request that we be allowed to fit our own weapons suite aboard the ships to ensure commonality with the remainder of our fleet. In addition we wish to know if it possible to increase the air wing to 24 F-35B and 6 H-60 helos? We are of course willing to pay extra for these modifications.
(OOC: Just a nit pick but the ship doesn't need catapults if it has a ski jump and carries VTOL planes like the Harrier or F-35B.)

[OOC: Stealth operations squadrons don't usually travel with a large fleet, which is why I didn't include one in the package.

The SPRAC's range is 250 miles without refueling. They can't be dumped out the back of helicopters, since the buoyant pods aren't built to immediately stabilize the craft upon impact. If you have a very large transport helicopter, you can suspend the SPRAC from the bottom and very carefully drop it in the water, although the helicopter would have to hover close to the surface and would be vulnerable to enemy fire while performing the task. It's much more preferable, if you're planning to use these off a foreign coastline, to carry several in the hull of a LPD and have them launch from the floodable deck. Look to the either the Executor Class CLS (fits 5) or Blitz Class LPD (fits 4).]

We believe now that the time has come, following our previous business, for our Dominion to reapply its previous order. Following the completion of our first order, we shall place the second, which is simply a repeat purchase of the same proportions.

Again, we offer the services of domestic factories in the production of the truly massive series of craft requested. The outline remains the same as before.

48 Calypso Mk.III Class Trimaran Dreadnaughts,

144 Glacier Class Trimaran Fleet Carriers,
782 Athios Class Light Carriers

228 Helina Class Battlecruisers (nuclear propulsion model),
270 Carthage Class Air Defense Cruisers,

175 Fredora Class AAW Destroyers,

380 Champlain Class Trimaran Frigates,
485 Grevant Class Missile Frigates,
420 Lionfish Class Trimaran Missile Frigates

This comes to a grand total cost of $15,490,950,000,000; or, fifteen trillion, four-hundred and ninety billion, nine-hundred and fifty million Universal Standard Dollars. This is within the procurement budget for our Imperial Navy this year.

RE : Oceanic Explorer Project

______________________________________________________'

Dear Sirs:

We have been looking for a pair of ships for Oceanographic research. We are about to embark upon on an extensive survey of our local waters.

Our goals are to create detailed, highly accurate charts and survey the geological and mineralogical features of the seabed.

One of our colleagues in the Navy suggested that we inquire about the possibility of modifying PERRIGON CLASS Minesweepers for the task. It appears that with some modifications, the Perrigon class might be what we're looking for. Its mine-hunting sensor suite and GPS capability with minor calibration changes should do just fine as is.

This ship will operate a pair of Deep Sea Remote Vehicles (DSRV) and a single manned deep diving mini-sub. It will also need to be capable of handling a number of divers. The ship will need a boom and crane with which core samples of the bottom can be taken. It will also need to have extensive computing and communications facilities.

Two lab spaces are needed: one biological, the other geophysical.

Considering the Perrigon classes size and capabilities, this ship looks like a ideal fit for our survey.

Would Hybault be interested in working with us on this project? Our ship yards are currently booked up for the next 3 years.

We expect the changes to make the cost of the ship ~250-300M per copy and our funding is solid.

This comes to a grand total cost of $15,490,950,000,000; or, fifteen trillion, four-hundred and ninety billion, nine-hundred and fifty million Universal Standard Dollars. This is within the procurement budget for our Imperial Navy this year.

Again we have promised to aid in the material preparation and unit construction, so we are only, in effect, paying you for the right to produce them, under your supervision. Our fleet now nears completion, and it is due solely to the excellent work of the Hybalt Naval Shipyards, to whom the Dominion is greatly indebted. Our business is nearly complete.

Thank you,

Good day,
Mr. White

Pan-Arab Barronia has long been a fan of HDI products, and wishes to double our previous order - a near-tripling of our defence budget now allows us to cater for some 2500 ships.

Along with the order of the "Combined Fleet Package", we wish to order:

5 Perseus Class[ Stealth Carriers @ $3,500,000,000 per.
500 SPRAC @ $75,000,000 per.
25 Blitz Class LPD @ $600,000,000 per.
250 Tyre Class Patrol Ships @ $120,000,000 per.

Total Cost: $2,020,000,000,000, or $2.02 Trillion, assuming a 5% discount for the Combined Package only.

Again, it is a pleasure doing business with you.

[OOC: Apologies for the long response time. I've been busy over the summer and I've just started to get back into NationStates. While I'm waiting for Granzi to be resurrected, does anyone who previously ordered in this thread still wish for their order to be considered?]

OOC: Dunno, don't think so.

IC:

The USSY would also like to purchase 40,000 of your Pachis Class IFV, to replace the venerable CV 90.

The price should come to $120 Billion USD, to be wired immediately.

OOC: I am gonna go ahead and assume that the Pachis already arrived, seeing as how I can afford it, and how the store is inactive.
