Some place out in neutral space a few light years from Colonial borders close to GFFA territory ...A massive 1.7 km cruiser floated gently in to the darkness, its hull plating glimmering and gleaming in the light of a local star, its engines not normal blue and white but rather greenish black, distorting space as it came out of the engines. the cruiser ominously floated with its shimmering mass of greyness towards nothing on board was a skeleton crew of 500 people, tactical officers, marines, engineers mostly and a small command and medical staff. The ship inside was rather quiet but also noisy in certain spots engineers in the engine room looked on as a new powerful reactor worked, they made sure dark energy plasma was being fed from storage tanks in to the cascade emitters, the blackish bluish streams of DEP rushed in to the emitters, the emitters then gently cascaded them in to a beam of white DEP. Due to the high consecration of it, it was no longer its original color. the engineers walked around the huge reactor core, they're white jumpsuits gleaming in the white light produced by the force fielded metallic reactor, it hummed like a dark angel the noise reverberating throughout the ship. the chief engineer sat at his station a few meters away from the reactor, the utilitarian plating and chrome look of the are was enhanced by the streaming light , his hair was Grey his skin was rough and old looking. his hands taping on a console near by. He sighed and looked over to his fellow ship mate and said " first thing we're going to test is the dark warp drive, now have helm prepare us for a dark jump" The officer nodded gently rushing over to the reactor to start the engines up, then notifying helm while on the way. The bridge was silent the helms officer had set a course just out side GFFA borders. Suddenly a bubble of dark warp space appeared in front of the cruiser it seemed like an alien universe a void, less chaotic than chronos space. the ship shook violently and time began to slow as it entered the bubble of shattered space time suddenly every one looked around, they're bodies moving so slowly . time on the ship had stopped completely for a few seconds and then suddenly returned to normal.. or it seemed normal as the ship entered the pitch black l void of the dark warp. the only source of light was the running lights on the large cruiser. it was like nothing was there, no stars no life nothing, it was incredibly lonely and depressing, the crew looked out of ports on the ships. an officer said to another officer "I would not want to be trapped out here, i hope we can get back." the other officer responded "well I don't want to die here its... so.. lifeless... empty..." the crews cautiousness obviously rose as the ship skirted in to the darkness. while it was only a few seconds in normal space it was a few moments there. Suddenly a black crackling void opened just inside GFFA space and the cruiser slipped out with the same side affects.

The engineer looked around and grabbed his head saying .. "Thats another problem to deal with fixing time dilation and dampening were are we?"
Another engineer walked to a console to tap on it sensors were out...
"well?" the Chief said
the engineer responded "sensors are out so...- he was cut off suddenly sensors came back and he looked up at them. he blinked and said "inside GFFA space"

"what?!" the Chief exclaimed "you have got to be kidding what the hell are those people in helm control doing trying to start a war.."

Mean while in the bridge "why the hell did those engineers not adjust our sensors correctly!" exclaimed the commander as the ship floated over GFFA borders unknowingly.
The commander sighed and said “Well lets start heading back full reverse ensign, next we'll test the tactical systems” the cruiser began to float around quickly, in half the time it takes most ships its size it ominously shimmered in the light of the near by sun its gray hull glimmering gently...

The demonic like engines pushed the ship along gently, the crew chattered amongst them selves in the crowded even for a skeleton crewed ship mess hall. "I don't know wra'th" said a human male speaking to a reptilian like creature. "it just seems so eerie going in to that dark space, it gives me the chills" wr'ath responded in a reptilian voice, his talons on the table as his tail warped around his legs his muzzle pointing out and eyes looking at the human. "Well you humans do have a keen sense of feeling, I also don't feel inclined to go there." the human chuckled as he drank some liquor, he smiled at the reptilan and looked back watching as his crew mates talked. Wr'ath spoke again "So mr rosenburg, how are things back on Terran prime" the human male looked over obviously responding to his name. "Well the family's good, kids are doing fine though Tammy really dose not like me going out on deployment, but what can you do eh?" wr'ath chuckle in a reptilian way his eye lids moving side ways over his oddly shaped eyes. "I suppose not, i have one or two hatchings back on torm " he replied... "really? who would have thought" said rosenburg chuckling... "Well I'm here for you bud ill make sure you get back to them alive.." hehe Wr'ath smiled a little showing his sharp protruding teeth Responding. "Thank you as will I" others talked as well two females were conversing about the latest news on war fronts for the GE and ESUS. as well as involvement of the Colonials in a reserve operation soon to take place to look for GFFA supporters of the luge. Others spoke about sports. you could over here two people talking.

"Hey the Torm dragons smashed the Terran dolphins in astroball the other day 2 -1 mckowski showed them whos boss" the other replied" nah it was Thompson who did it mckowski is just a front for him" they went a friendly argument.
clank!...... clank!..... clank!!! reverberated throughout the engineering section. the chief quickly looked up and said annoyingly his voice almost like a concrete mixer. "My god what is that noise!" an officer beside him looked up and saw a vent blowing a wire with an odd metal ball connector attached to it, he blinked and pointed. saying in a confused voice "I think it's that" the wire swayed in the win clanking on the chrome metal lit by the reactor and lights around the area.
"Well.. fix it " the chief said sending the officer rushing up there almost falling because of a stair way he put the connector back in the socket and the navigation correction computer restarted.... the officer said "well this would explain why we deviated from course the navigation correction computer was unplugged.." the chief looked at a random spot upon hearing the news and cursed under his breath also saying "Who in the Bloody hell unplugged that thing?"
"Hell if i know the officer responded"
"Oh then it must have been weird little gnomes with time travel and faster than light abilities who did it?"
the officer growled "what are you blaming me, look Chief, get wise I didn't do nothing. so don't blame me"
The Chief just sighed and leaned back in his chair looking at readings
The ship moved away gently shimmering in the night of space...
Toori
30-04-2007, 18:17
The Toori Dreadnaught class heavy assault cruiser floated loosly in the darkness of the shadow of a moon in a near-by system. Its hull was completely un-noticable visualy, and all of the unnesicary lights were completely off. It was the ARTSCV- 109227:... the No'Dachi'. It was on a reconisance mission, scouting out the outer-rim systems and observing Gracian, and Red-State mobalizations. This is the farthest any Toori, Protoss, or Lizasaur ship had ever been.

The Chief Communications Officer had a disturbed look on his face. At the same time, the Chief Sensory Control Officer, or "observer", had near the same look.

"Whats up?" the helmsman said in a calm voice.

Observer: "I dont know, just saw a wierd reading on my ranging deep-space sensors."

Helmsman: Like what?

Observer: I don't know, it did not take a solid form, it looked almost cloudy. Then it dissapeared.

Comm. Officer: You think thats wierd, listen to this.

The Comm. Officer plugged in his last recorded readings, and played them through the bridges speakers: wwwwwwwaaawwwwwwwwwwwgggoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa aaaahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah

Helmsman: Yep, those are engines alright. Probably plasma-driven.

Observer: Bearing 117mark35 elevation 10, at 2.5 parsecs.

Captain: Pursue!

Helmsman: Yes sir.

The ghost ship came to live as its engines powered up and it began accelerating at unreal speeds into the darkness.

Some distance away, a Godulan Slaughterking drifted along just outside of GFFA-held territory, latched onto an asteroid in order to conceal its presence. Patrolling the area to scan for any major concentrations of enemy war material typically accompanying a massed deployment, its scanners reached out into the void.

I'm back.

How did the lecture go?

As soon as he started talking about multiple big bangs things got a little rowdy.

Multiple big bangs? What the hell?

That was our sentiment. Didn't phase him though. The mathematics checks out and he fielded out questions with more grace than I could've shown.

Huh.

Still, it only works out if Melan'qui's theory regarding variable rates of universal entropy is confirmed.

Yeesh. That one's not testable right now.

Exactly. Overall though it was a decent little piece. How goes things here?

Was actually just about to get your attention. I registered some sort of gravimetric pulse a few minutes ago, with none of the signs indicating artificial gravity generation. Looks like somebody is dicking about with dark energy.

Any idea who?

There was a ship, but another pulse poofed it before we could get a definitive signature.

Hup hup hup... there's another one, just inside GFFA borders.

Checking readings...

One of theirs? If the GFFA is playing with dark energy that'll play hell with our redirectors.

Nope. Fedral. One ship. Inside GFFA held territory.

Holy shit.

This should be funny. Get the guys!

Showing no outward sign of activity, the Slaughterking continued to drift along... now host to some two hundred Godulans gleefully watching the situation unfold...

"Orders coming through from Headquarters. They would like us to check out an unknown signature floating through Galactic Federation space that our probes had picked up."

Sobach looked at her young chief of staff. The Abh had a long ways to go before experiencing the amount of combat that Rear-admiral Sobach had in her entire tour with Star Forces. "Alright, chief of staff inform all crew members to go to level 2 battle stations. Engineering, you've got the coordinants so prepare to activate jump sequence."

Finished with their patrol in the area, Sobach's Paryunu turned towards the forming jump gate and dove into the swirling vortex for its destination.
