The Atopian Naval Vessel Primo Frank:
Laid down – May 2218, on the 100th anniversary of the British Londinian War
Maiden voyage – December 2222
Primo Frank is the current flagship of the Atopian Naval Service, and is the pride and glory of a fleet which has only recently been brought back to strength following the disastrous naval encounters of the Iragian War. Stunned by the shocking obsolecence of their previous equipment, the ANS began a programme of indigenious, ultra-modern, procurement. From the ground up, the ANS was rebuilt to take account of the lessons learned from their encounters during the Iragian War.
First and foremost, it was decided, a super-dreadnought was needed. to even begin to compete on an even footing with modern naval powers. Thus, following internal tenders, the winning design was formally finalised in 2197, and in early 2198 work began on the vast logistical and engineering exercises that needed to be completed both in Atopiana and its holdings. The main naval base of Stakhanograd, Laquatia, needed an entirely new dry dock plus a deepwater dock to house the monstrous vessel, while a second set of docks was constructed in Airstrip One (formerly known as Die Boerstaat) to ensure that the proposed fusion-powered super-dreadnought (then known as ENFV-1 for Experimental Nuclear Fusion Vessel type 1) would be able to roam the seas at will.
When work was finished on the docks in 2210, efforts were redoubled to amass the raw materials needed for the construction of the behemoth, while new technologies were being added to the design all the time. Between its original conception in 2197 and its launch on the 14th of December 2222, the ENFV-1 underwent no less than twelve major design overhauls, with the last resulting in the installation of several direct energy weapons systems for ultra-long range naval combat in addition to the superheavy gauss weapons that were her main armament. Since her launch she has provided the ANS with a morale boost and a fantastic increase in their global power projection ability. Rumours are currently circulating that she and her accompanying fleet will be sent to the Hatarian War to help in delivering the coup de grace against the Hatarian menace.
