Northern Scottish Coast, 9:00am
It was a cold, crisp morning on one of the furthest north points in Scotland. The wind was harsh as it rolled in from the nearby sea, and the local population of Kearvaig were confused and in awe of the sights that filled there towns cold streets. As they stared in from their houses windows, the small population saw the town fill with what seems like hordes of millions of troops. Of course, the number was more like 20,000 or so, but it was a sight to behold for this Northern Point that did not normally see this much action.
The sea was jumpy, and crashing in with waves of thunder. It even knocked aside the massive battleships and troop transporters as they prepared, shaking them with a bitter fist. These men were working in secret, getting ready for something that the public had not known about until now – it was something big in Scotland though, and would be all over the news by that evening.
WEF Commission HQ, London, United Kingdom (Member Of The WEF)
Mr. François Chirac, Commissioner for Defence, and Mr. Amado García, Commissioner for the Treasury and Former High Commissioner, sat opposite each other and stared fiercely into their opponents eyes, making the atmosphere thick and uneasy. Surrounding them were eleven high up members of the Commission who had been ordered to observe the event – and an event it had been. These were arguably the two most powerful people in the WEF, behind the High Commissioner and her Deputy, and they had been arguing for the best part of three hours.
They both had differing views on the situation that the UK Naval Forces were about to go into. Mrs. Laura Harding, High Commissioner, had given the order to takeover the nation of Iceland, the last ‘major’ European nation, before war erupted and it became a war torn middle land for fighting European nations. She had simply said “I want it to be ours – peaceful methods are preferred, though if they do not comply an invasion has got my go ahead”. Therefore she had ordered the head of the WEF’s economy to battle it out with the unofficial head of there military to see which method they take.
The arguments had been presented, with Chirac favouring military actions because it is “swift, easy, and much cheaper” whereas Garcia was adamant that buying the country was the only way “if we invade we risk damaging relations with both the GGA and the NAR, but if we purchase the land it will please them and our populous more – it can also be done easily without damaging our economy”. Then, after the dragged on bickering the two men had ended, the eleven observes made there decision, and the one that would be present in the letter they would send to Iceland…
SECRET MESSAGE TO THE GOVERNMENT OF ICELAND FROM THE WEF
Iceland, we are trusted you received this letter without interception – to put it bluntly, we are interested in purchasing your country. Iceland is one of the only independent countries in Europe, as you know, and that puts you in a very bad situation some might say. You have no allies as such, and with a possible impending world war you could be a stranded country used as a battle ground for whoever tries to attack Europe.
We admire your nation and its independent ways, and even more its pacifism, but in today’s world it will not save you sadly. We will offer you the full support of the WEF as a WEF member state, just like we do to the UK, Italy, France etc. – and we will be your military, and we will place you under the wing of one of the most powerful alliances of countries in the world.
We therefore invite you to join the Western European Federation – for a sum which we would like you to specify. Take this offer into consideration, and we are very determined to see your country become a member of the WEF.
-Mr. Amado García, Commissioner for the Treasury
OOC: My government does not want to spend too much Wagdog, keep that in mind, and would prefer to see this done quickly – so will forcibly invade if they are displeased with how things are progressing.
