Spacestation Deep Space Nine, near the Bajoran Wormhole

'What could it be now?' wondered Sisko as he was awoken by the chime of his comm badge. "Sisko here."

"Captain," this is the watch officer. "We are picking up multiple contacts on the Gamma side of the wormhole."

"I'll be right there," responded Sisko. "Assemble the senior staff."

Sisko got up, put his uniform on, and then headed up to Ops. "OK Lieutenant, what do you have?"

"Our Gamma sensor stations are picking up several warp signatures heading towards the wormhole. They are about 90 minutes away."

"Any clue as to who they are?" asked Sisko.

"I have none Sir," responded the LT.

"Very well, then we are to assume they are Dominion vessels," responded Sisko. "Yellow Alert! Put out a signal to Starfleet to assemble as many vessels here as possible. We don't have much time."

"Sir, I have put out a bulletin," responded the watch officer. "We should be able to assemble up to seventy warships here thanks to the fleet at Bajor. I also have a few other vessels coming to help. One of them is Gul Dukat's Bird of Prey."

"Very well," responded Sisko. He realized how ironic it was to have the aid of Gul Dukat in any endeavour. The universe must really be in chaos for that to be the case.

Sisko repeated the situation to his senior staff once they arrived. "Major, you'll take command of the station," stated Sisko. "I want the rest of you to join me on the Defiant.

"Sir, how many ships will join Defiant," asked Bashir.

"Not enough Doctor," stated Sisko with a grim look on his face. "We'll be outnumbered 2.5 to 1." Sisko paused before giving his next order. "We'll give them a fight. Starfleet has given us the order to hold our ground. We will give the Jem'Hadar a fight they will never forget."

Dominion Fleet

The Dominion fleet was too far away for sensors to pick up ship types. The ships were being led by the Vorta Weyoun. Weyoun was actually the fifth incarnation of himself having been cloned four times. His mission wasn't to attack DS9. That time would come later. His mission right now was more important than an attack on the station.

"How long until the wormhole?" asked Weyoun.

"We will be there momentarily," responded the First.

While combat wasn't the mission, the Jem'Hadar on the bridge knew it was a possibility.

"Are you ready First?" asked Weyoun.

"My men and I are ready," responded the First. "I am First Ketch'lan, and I am dead. As of this moment, we are all dead. We go into battle to reclaim our lives. This, we do gladly, for we are Jem'Hadar. Remember - victory is life." The other Jem'Hadar recited the mantra.

"Today shall be a glorious day in service of the Founders," stated Weyoun. "I have just received the message. Our friend is ready on the other side."

Deep Space Nine

Major Kira had the station at red alert now. The Defiant had departed and joined the 75 ships formed up around the station. Their orders were to hold fire until the Dominion appeared ready to fire first.

Seventy-one of the ships formed up were Starfleet vessels. There were three Maquis vessels, which were surprisingly given immunity by the Starfleet vessels. The final ship was Dukat's stolen Klingon Bird of Prey.

"This is Major Kira to all vessels. The Dominion fleet is now entering the wormhole."

Sisko was in charge of the Federation flotilla. "All right men, stand by," he said over the comm system.

The wormhole's mouth opened up as the fleet neared. "Here we go," said Dax at the conn.

The first vessels through were Jem'Hadar attack ships. "Wait, some of those vessels are cargo ships," stated O'Brien. "Why in the hell would they have those for an attack?"

His answer quickly came. "They're turning away from the station," stated Dax. "They're turning towards, Cardassia?"

"Dukat get a message out to Cardassia now so they can defend themselves," said Sisko.

"I'm afraid that won't be necessary Captain," stated the Cardassian.

"Dukat's ship is breaking formation and joining the Dominion ships," stated an alarmed Dax.

"I have spent the past few weeks in negotiations with the Dominion," said Dukat. "I am now happy to announce that the Cardassian Alliance has joined as the newest member of the Dominion. So long Captain."

Sisko and his crew sat dumbfounded. They knew that Dukat couldn't be trusted, but they never forsaw this happening. The situation with the Dominion was already bad, and it had just become a whole lot worse. With Dukat and the Cardassians on their side, it appeared the Dominion now already had a foothold in the Alpha Quadrant without a single battle.

IC: The Dominion had been sending a few convoys each week to Cardassian space. Each convoy carried dozens of warships, thousands of Jem'Hadar, and supplies to restock the depleted Cardassian supplies, which had taken a hit in the Klingon War.

Starfleet had a mere 795 warships plus 200 Danube class runabouts in its inventories. They were ubable to stop any possible Dominion attacks.

Much of the fleet had been ordered to assemble at DS9. Among the ships there was the new flagship, ISS Sovereign. She was under the command of Jean Luc Picard, and was being tasked to head an important mission into the Gamma Quadrant.

He and some other Captains assembled in the wardroom of DS9. The meeting was being led by Captain Benjamin Lafayette Sisko, CO of DS9 and the Starship Defiant.

"Ladies and gentlemen, you are all up to date on the situation with the Dominion," began Sisko. "Gul Dukat's duplicity caught every single one of us off guard. We are in a strategically poor situation. The Dominion and Cardassians have an ample supply of ships and soldiers now in the Alpha Quadrant.

"This is all a threat to us, but they have an even greater supply within the Gamma Quadrant on the other side of the wormhole. They know we have listening posts and sensor arrays throughout the Alpha Quadrant. It is for that reason that an attack on this station will likely be launched from the Gamma Quadrant and not the Alpha Quadrant.

"This station's sensors can not see through the wormhole. Our single listening post on the other side is rather weak and inadequate to give us fair warning of an attack. It is with this in mind that Admiral Ross has given us the orders to construct a sensor array on the other side of the wormhole.

"Five construction vessels are due to arrive at DS9 within the next forty-eight hours. They are to be led by a contingent of warships. Captain Picard Sovereign will serve as the the overall task force commander. I have been instructed to use the Defiant to take command of the escort force.

"This mission is to be kept secret. I don't want to see any of you going to Quarks. I know he is willing to give latinum to anyone who gives him information that he can sell. Best of luck. Dismissed."

Two Days Later

Task-Force 48 was forming up around DS9. The heart of the TF would of course be the five construction ships carrying out the actual mission. Accompanying them was a large contingent of warships escorting them.

The largest and most powerful of the escorts was the brand new battleship ISS Sovereign NCC-766. Thirteen other vessels would round out the escort force of Task Force Forty-Eight. These would range from the brand new scout ship Nova to the elderly Constitution class ISS Enterprise under the command of the legendary Captain James Tiberius Kirk.

TF-48 was formed up and ready to enter the Bajoran Wormhole under impulse power.

OOC: since this is open, then it would work if a few o my ships arrived in system and if I remeber right the wormhole has mines in front of it so if my ships hit said mines they would of course fire at anythig in front of said mines. I use SW tech that is modified.

OOC: So, then you wouldn't mind if a Ri-anese trading fleet sailed on in chock full of various supplies to trade for other supplies?

OOC: It's fine if you enter this RP.

Just an FYI. The wormhole hasn't been mined yet. That didn't happen until the season 5 finale and was actually the casus belli for the Dominion attack on DS9.

They dropped out of transwarp, having come from a very long ways away, well, not really. this fleet regularly sailed from place to place, trading cargo from one world to the next. It was the most famous of all Ri-anese fleets, The Ri-anese Trading Fleet, commanded by Admirals Sorgei and Thames. While a goodly portion of the fleet stayed off to the side, and out of the way of intersteller traffic, an Octopus ship painted White, instead of the normal Red approached the Station.

"This is Admiral Sorgei of The Ri-anese Trading Fleet, requesting permission to dock and come aboard for a bit of trading. We have quite a cargo of various goods. You name it, it's probably on one of our ships somewhere." Admiral Sorgei said. He was scheduled to come in and drop various supplies off, but, rules were rules after all.

OOC: No real need to go over the details of the Cargo. No contraband, at least not that the admirals are aware of, though having seen the series, its possible Quark might have a rare item or two, slipped in with some innocent bar supplies, like a case of rare Ri-an Black. A delicous Wine made only once ever five years, and only because tat's how long for the ingredients to grow.
However, I also know supplies were brought in every once in awhile. A scheduled drop seemed the best way to enter.

Major Kira Nerys was too busy monitoring the mission to respond to the hails from the Ri-anese vessel.

A young Bajoran Lieutenant was there to run the normal station functions. "Ri-anese vessel, this is Deep Space Nine. We have you cleared at course Mark 185 for upper docking pylon three. That would be the one closest to your current position. Please cut engines at 1.5 km and let our tractors take you in. We will have someone meet you at the docking ring."

The ship went over, and raised three of its front tenticals. It looked at them as if deciding on which one to use. finaly, it used the central one and docked with DS9.

Admiral Sorgei and Admiral Thames were at the doors. As they opened, they stepped through.

Sorgei, favored lighter colors, and was dressed in the Yellows, Greens, and Blues of the Ventalva Continent of Ri-an. He walked with a cane and had a monical. The cane was a long wooden shaft, with a metal handel. If one looked closelyat the Monical, one would see it was a HUD contineaing the Fleet info.

Thames favored Darker Colors, and was dressed in the Reds, Blacks, and purples of the Merkavian Continent. He had a similar Monical and Staff.

Task Force 48

The work had been going on for a day and no Dominion patrols had come near the ships. They were about 30 minutes distance at warp 9 from the entrance to the wormhole. They knew some ships would come by soon with the next convoy.

The ISS Nova was the newest vessel in TF-48. She was even newer than the heavily advanced Sovereign. The Nova wasn't quite the powerful warship the Sovereign was though.

Nova was the first of her class. She had been built as a science vessel/scout. She was to be the beginning of a new class of vessels which would replace the 150 year old Oberth class vessels. It was also hoped that modified Nova class vessels would replace the even older Daedalus and NX class vessels still being used in a Starfleet that was stretched far too thin. It seemed like the engineers at Planitia Utopia had finally reached that balance of a ship needed to replace three elderly classes of starships without the hefty price tag.

The Nova was adequately armed. She could hold her own against a pair of Jem'Hadar attack fighters. Her primary weapon for this mission was her large sensor pod. The vessel's sensor ranges were boosted by the launching of occasional probes in the direction of Dominion space.

About thirty of her eighty crewmembers were on watch when the klaxon rung indicating a contact had been acquired by the class IX probe launched hours ago.

"Sir, the probe's passive sensors are reading an active search pulse pattern that is defintely Dominion technology," reported the Vulcan science officer.

"Any classification on the ship class?" asked the CO.

"Not at the moment," responded the science officer. "The pulse could be originating from any vessel from an attack ship up to a cruiser. We'll need a closer look."

"Very well," said the CO. He turned to Comms. "Signal the Sovereign and Defiant of our find."

The order was carried out and a decision was made. The Defiant had the ability to cloak and was going to be splitting off from the main group to get more information and act accordingly.

----------------------------------------------------------

ISS Defiant NCC-121

The Defiant was rigged for silent running. Her bridge was bathed in blue light indicating the Romulan cloaking device was functioning as she moved through the Gamma Quadrant for the position pinpointed by the probe. Whatever the probe had picked up, it was heading towards the wormhole.

"Do you have anything yet Dax?" asked Sisko.

"Negative Benjamin," responded the 330 year old Trill. The Defiant had a fine sensor suite herself, but she didn't want to emit any active pulses while on silent running. The Dominion vessels would emit active scans within their own quadrant of space.

The bridge gong chimed as the ship's own passive systems picked up a weak pulse. "I think we have our vessel Benjamin," stated Dax from the Conn.

"Good work old man," said Sisko. "All-right. Now's our chance, man battlestations." The blue light remained on the bridge, but the rest of the ship was now lit red as the vessel was at red alert. "Plot an intercept course old man."

The Defiant was quickly nearing the enemy vessel. She still couldn't get an idea of the type. "Sir, they are changing course," stated Dax. "They must have somehow tracked our tachyon signature and are heading for us. I am not reading one ship, but three Jem'Hadar attack ships."

Sisko digested the news. It wouldn't be that big of a problem. Three Jem'Hadar attack ships would be easy prey for his tough little ship. He of course realized that it was worrisome for him to be detected at such a long range. Something on the clock would have to be tweaked at some point.

"Disengage the cloak Chief," ordered Sisko. "Mr. Worf, lock quantum torpedoes at the lead ship and fire."

The order was carried out. A whitish-blue torpedo fired from each of the two forward quantum launchers. The two torpedoes were ach followed by a second one from each tube. The four torpedoes were locked on the Dominion vessel. Each one ran straight and true for the target and made a hit. The forth torpedo ended up being unnecessary as the #3 torp split the vessel in half killing the 16 Jem'Hadar and 1 Vorta that crewed the vessel.

"Mr. Worf, switch to phasers and fire at will," ordered Sisko. He still had his bow on the two enemy vessels. They were now in range to fire their polaron beams. The shields absorbed the hits, but a few sparks still flew as the inertial dampeners tried to keep the bumps down.

Each of the forward pulse phaser emmiters fired two strings of four shots. A total of sixteen phaser bolts went for one of the vessels causing it to disappear in a shower of sparks.

The third vessel got behind Defiant and fired repeatedly at the vessel. Defiant fired her beam array at the ship and her aft photon torpedoes. The Jem'Hadar ship was damaged in the port nacelle and vented plasma. She still drove in her attack as the loyal Jem'Hadar fought to the death.

Venting plasma affected the ability of her thrusters to change the vessel's course. As a result, the Defiant outmaneuvered her and got shots off from the pulse phasers. The third and final ship was easily destroyed with no damage to Defiant.

"That was easy," remarked Dr. Julian Bashir, who was elated to not have to treat patients following the battle.

"Yes, but I bet they called for more ships to investigate the area near the wormhole now," stated Sisko as he mulled over the thought. "Dax, take us back to the taskforce and send a message out to Picard."

OOC: not the greatest starting post, but it works…and I’m assuming that by open you mean this is ok…though that could have been directed entirely at the other guy…

IC: A Hyperdrive window opens and out come a fleet originating from one of the galaxies the allied states of the four galaxies have, and or had control of…they had come here in a random jump, escaping the stronger fleet of ships commanded by the “divisionists” from the civil war they had suffered…the fleet had no home now…as the City ship they had guarded had been destroyed in the attack that forced them here…

The fleet included a good bit of firepower in its own right, including a powerful Aurora class Battleship, two Asgard built O’Neill class Battleships, a single Daniel Jackson class, two Wraith Hiveships, one with its full load of three Wraith Cruisers, on maintaining only one heavily damaged one, a Goa'uld built Necropolis class Command ship, five Ha’tak Cruisers the main ship of the Goa'uld, three of the Tau'ri made Daedalus class Cruisers, one out of rail gun ammunition and another lacking anymore missiles, and lastly there where 7 of the Goa'ulds Al’kesh bombers…and of course the scout ship and fighter complements of each ship…with a mix of Alteran Puddle Jumpers, Wraith Darts, the Tau'ri F-302, and Goa'uld supplied Tel'tac transports and Death Gliders

In a Hyperspace Route a dozen light years away from the wormhole, the power of the wormhole in the hyperspace bubble, sucked the ships toward the wormhole and they drooped out of hyperspace at the mouth. The squardron consitied of a dozen ships, most Kirtir Class Destroyers, but also had a pair of Victory Class TSD Mk IIs, and a Venator Class Towerless Star Destroyer.

The group was commanded by Comodore Kurt Jackson, a 12 year veteran of the Binarian navy, and a good tactician. However his tactics were generaly considered insane.

He stood on the bridge and looked into the main view screen. He was silent for several minutes and finally said, " Where in the hell are we?"

His second in command, Captain Joesph Malirk responded," We are currently half a million light years from Reach give or take a few thousand."

"So were are atleast a half a days journey from reporting back to Highcom. I want a total tactical readout of everything in system in 2 minutes.

After a minuteof silence, Captian Malirk reported the presence of twnety unknown ships, with intercepted communications indicating that they speak a dialect of Galatic Basic."

The Comodore thought for a minute. "Ready a brodcast in the open in Galatic Basic. Ask them for any local information about this wormhole."

"Yes sir!"
