Withdrawal from Hataria

Axis Nova

The multitude of bases and facilities of various types around Hataria and Western Hataria fall silent as the last airships and Sand Crab transports leave, and lights begin to automatically shut off. The same happens at the Axis Novan installed autofac complexes dotting the landscape.

However, in the fusion plants in deserts and and on offshore platforms, something rather different happens, as the fusion reactors begin to raise their output, doubling it again, and again, and again.

Soon, a brilliant column of light extends into the air from each installation, shortly followed by a sky-shattering explosion as the reactors go supercritical and detonate, laying waste to the installations in which they're emplaced.

Fortunately, due to their location, no civilian life is lost, and very little in the way of property damage, except the facilities themselves.

In the autofacs, small charges in important circuits go off, and all the important electronics melt themselves down into useless slag. The central processing units, of course, had been removed physically weeks before, but Axis Nova is not leaving any technology behind for potential enemies to recover and study.

Oddly enough, the military bases and space launch facilities don't seem to suffer any obvious self-destructive effects, though everything that can be taken away has...

SECRET IC:
SCENE: Supreme Emperors Office, Imperial Palace
An employee of the company designated with tracking happenings aroudn the globe picked up his phone and called the Supreme Emperor on the phone. As the Supreme Emperor picked up, he heard the employee speak quickly, but calmly into the phone.

"Sir. We just picked up two or three explosions from inside Hataria on SpySat 98. Reports show that they are the Axis Nova instillations. I'm moving SpySat's 96 through 100 into position to check out the rest of the nation.."

Hmmz, he thought to himself. "Must be Axis Nova going on their word of their withdrawl from Hataria and any Hatarian Conflicts." He looked at the clock on his desk. "Didn't take them long to do it, huh?"

"No, Sir. Any Special Orders?"

"Not really," George Replied. "Just monitor the situation for any new developments. With Hataria declaring war upon the Dark Empire, I want to make sure nothing happens within their nation to comprimise ours. If you notice the launch of any nuclear, biological or chemical weapons, push the alarm."

"You want me to push the alarm to evacuate the populace into the specialized tunnels?"

"Yes Goddammit. We built those tunnels years ago just for this type of shit, remember?"

"Yes, Sir. I'll keep you informed about any more happenings."

"Good."

George slammed the phone down. These people annoy him at times, but oh well. Their job has to be done by someone, and it's better them doing it than the Marines. The Marines needed as much manpower in the ranks as they could, and them manning the SpySat controls would just be pointless, thus the hiring of the private corporation.

He checked his E-Mail one last time for the day then walked out of his office, towards the living room with his gigantic 90 Inch Plasma Screen HDTV. The game should be on...
