At exactly 0700 Zulu today the CNV Moskva disappeared with out a trace of the coast of the Western European Federation, the last known location is shown below.

http://img183.imageshack.us/img183/4377/untitled50av6.png

The CNV Moskva is a Nuclear test model of the Danechka Class Destroyer (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=524566) series. It's total cost is estimated at around $475,000,000 including modifications. Before all contact was lost the crew reported strange radio transmission coming from an unknown location and source. They consisted of screeching like sounds. Seemingly the Moskva has disappeared into thin air taking her crew with her. She was on a sonar mapping mission to map the terrain of the ocean below her. The Czechalrussian Federation Government was thrown into a panic once informed. A rescue fleet is being organized now, all assistance is welcome.

The Confederacy of liberal Men and Women would like to officially extend our sympathies to the crew of the CNV Moskva and their families. We have established charities within our country to collect money as a way to assist in the search efforts. Unfortunately, due to our very small navy, lack of military funding, and general societal fear of the ocean, we are unable to directly assist in the search, but our people want to do everything we can in a time of need.

Money collected so far: ~cr250,000

OOC: ESS only, man. If you'd like to get in (And I Highly recommend it!), please see the Earth of Suspension and Succession OOC Thread. TG me or Wagdog for further details.

Admiral Degtaryev and the director of the GRU looked down at a digital map of the Atlantic ocean off the coast of Portugal. The director of the GRU finally spoke.

"If we are able to find this ship and somehow get it into our waters and away from their salvage fleets, we may be able to get some intel on their naval equipment." he said.

"Indeed," Degtaryev replied. "Get some satellite coverage over the last reported area. We need as many readings as possible; normal, thermal, radiotactive, all of the works. This is a nuclear craft, yes?"

"That's what the Czechalrussians said." replied the director.

"Good," Degtaryev said. "That should make this a whole lot easier to find if the reactor is leaking. Even if it isn't, we should be able to pick up slight readings with the reactor intact."

"You realize how hard this is going to be." said the director. "Even if we manage to find the ship, we still need to covertly get it to our waters, or at least get a dive team to get intel on it."

"Yes, I took that into account." said Degtaryev. "As long as we get satellites making passes over that area now, we should be able to find it after a while."

"What if she is at the bottom? her reactors could be breached and she could leak radioactive materials into the sea!" - Fyodor Stanislav says frantically. We understand that you may be in panic - any nation could get hold of this ship and your technology. Though as a European Ally, and hopefully as a gesture to a soon to be member of the Third Alliance, we will send a ship from the coast of Portugal, the nearest place it was last seen, to investigate it's whereabouts. We have satellites that are now looking over the area where it was last seen in detail, and once we can find the extact location of the area we will send ships there and we will begin looking for it and commencing a rescue operation if they are still alive.

“Who did this?” Shouted an angry Naval General whilst he scattered papers around the room. Everyone around him was worried – he was furious, and they could tell by the large slug like vein popping out from his face.

“We don’t know Sir, but it’s off our coast and we have sent the offer to help. We are worried they could think it was us Sir, though no accusations have been made.” A small, feeble looking Sergeant said.

The General sighed. Wars erupting in South America and Africa were bad enough – he did not have time to have unrest in Europe “Well of course we didn’t do it! Any idea who would be so foolish and how?”

“Well, other nations ships would have been noticed surely – though the most likely option is sinking or –" The young man paused for a second “The Portuguese Front sir. I know we have arrested most of them and Portugal is in control but…”

“They don’t have the power to do this – and why would they?” The General replied, his tone now more worried.

“There could be a number of reasons – but we don’t necessarily think its them, sinking for some reason is most likely. If we find the ship we can look over it and see, or the Czech’s can, and see if there is any evidence relating to the PPF involvement. Now it’s just a race to find it before another, more threatening nation does.”

The OF-497 moved silently through its orbit path around the earth. It had recently recieved an order from ground command to move over a sector of the Atlantic believed to contain the Moskva, and hopefully its powerful radiation detecting system would find it. Its thrusters moved it over the location and it began to beam down its sensory rays over the location. OF-287 and OF-712 were also moving to the location to scan for normal and thermal of the ship.

A conference had been called about the satellite finding the radiation and heat signature of the Moskva, and so far the Navy was in a frenzy. Plans were being made to send a Borei-Class SSBN off the coast of Brazil to move to the area, which was now under constant surveillance by the satellites overhead. The red dot was still moving slowly south, most likely because of the currents there. The plan was to have the naval infantry contingent of 18 men to board the ship and investigate. They would be accompanied by four specialists in the atomic field to snap some photos of the reactor. A plan wsa also being drawn up to somehow tow the Moskva into an Arctic port to examine it and take some notes on its engineering and such. An order was immediately sent by Admiral Degtaryev to the Vladimir Monomakh telling it to set a course for the location immediately.

"What the hell happened here?" said one of the Specialists as he snapped some photos of the scene. Another specialist with a Geiger Counter reported that radiation levels were at an abnormal level.

As Liuetenant Boryav walked through the halls, he began seeing an odd sight. There was grey, ash-like dust all over the place. He picked some up and let it sift through his hands, wondering what it was. Then something moved. He raised his Saiga-12 and pointed it down the hall. The shadow kept getting bigger and bigger, until the creature emerged. A jack Russel Terrier pranced out and walked up to Boryav, wimpering. It too was covered in the grey dust. The Liuetenant picked up the dog and cradeled it in his arms. What happened here?

Having only just arrived after a full-speed run through the Straits of Magellan and up the South American coast to this point, the Vladimir-class SSN UWS Juventud Rebelde kept a passive sonar watch on the Vladimir Monomakh. So far, nothing hostile or even out of the ordinary was apparent, although that the Czechalrussian ship was in bad shape was obvious. Captain Roger Tarthon decided it was time, radio relay aircraft and such being far away and Wagdog not really having any satellites to speak of. "Move us All Ahead 3/4; maintain bearing and status." No sense in spooking the russian boomer more than necessary for a 'neutral' party.
"Once within periscope range, make and hold periscope depth." No mention was made about the six 533mm torpedo tubes; again, so as not to provoke a confrontation needlessly and where none was appropriate at all. As is, the hull sounds we're getting from that mod-Danechka are weird enough to spook anyone... Even long-range passive sonar could inform one, from the sounds of hull stresses and debris signatures, that something terrible had happened to the CNV Moskva. But what?

"Lieutenant! Come and look at this!" shouted a soldier from down the hall. Boryav and his new dog ran down a flight of stairs to see what the soldier had to report. It was a grissly site. The door to the galley had been cut off with some sort of high-powered torch. Inside, the floor was covered with blood and shell casings. Food was rotting on the floor with a nasty stench, almost as bad as a vulture. The strange grey dust was in mounds on the floor, smelling strongly of ozone. On the wall was the worst site.

"My god..." said Boryav as he looked at the bloody writing. Repent was written on the wall in blood, droplets running down from the gruesome letters. The bloody handprints led into a hall and stopped at a door at the end of the hall. "Let's open it up." said Boryav as he raised his Saiga-12 and fired at the handle. It fell off and clinked on the floor. He kicked open the door and found a man lying on the ground, clutching his abdomen.

"Please...kill me. I have seen what no man should ever witne..." he said before breaking into a coughing fit. Boryav raised his pistol to fire, but it was batted down by a gloved hand.

"What are you doing?" shouted the black clad man. "We need him."

"I'm sorry Colonel, he asked me to." replied Boryav.

Colonel Nikolai looked at him, then to the man cowering on the floor. "I need him to bring back to the UR. He can provide valuable information on this foreign assault."

"Foreign assault?" said Boryav, "What are you talking about? Who would attack these people, and if they did, what happened to the bodies?"

The Colonel sighed. "Have you seen the grey dust, Arkadi?" He waited a few seconds, then continued. "Well, have you? How about the smell of ozone, or maybe lack of bodies?"

"Yes, but..." Boryav began to say.

"The grey dust is the bodies, Arkadi." cut off the Colonel. "Thirty years ago, on my first assignment in the GRU, I dealt with an attack on the Baikonur Cosmodrome. We arrived with Spetsnaz forces, but it was not American sabatuers as we expected. There were...creatures that had attacked the installation. We fought them off, avenged our fallen brothers' deaths, and began to research these beings. Their weaponry self destructed, but the grey dust it left remained. That dust, Arkadi, is the remains of the crew on this ship. I have orders to remove any extra-terrestrial evidence from this ship and leave it as is. There can be no evidence that those creatures were here."

"What about this guy?" asked one of the Naval Infantry.

"He is a dead man to the world, but to us, he is the ultimate information bank. He will be treated well for the exchange of information on these creatures."

"Sweep the rest of the ship!" shouted the Colonel. The Naval Infantry moved throughout the ship, picking up the usual things the Colonel had said to retrieve: the carbonized ashes, log books, and any sort of recordings from the ships camera system.

The Colonel walked into the main reactor control room and looked at the Cyrillic writing on the control panel. He flipped a few switches, and the reactor's humming began to die down. There was a massive blood spatter with what looked to be some skull fragments all over the wall. A Czechalrussian Naval cap was on the ground, the visor partially turned black. The Colonel picked it up and set it on the panel. After a few more minutes of gathering info and evidence of the attack, the Colonel ordered the boarding party to disembark onto the Vladimir Monomakh. The COlonel would join them momentarily, he still had one more thing to do.

"My name is Petrov Popóv, and I was born and raised in Kiev. My father was a

tank commander for the Red Army during the Cold War, I was stationed at the

naval base in Sevastopol" Pertov paused and then continued.

"Our mission was to stop by the newest member of The Czechalrussian

Federation, Albania. We where to pick up some of their sailors to take part in

our mission to make them feel as if they where contributing to our cause"

"Our mission was to create a 3D map of the area for our submarine fleet."

"Everything seemed to be going fine until our systems detected and large

metallic object on the see floor" Petrov looked down towards his lap and his

face cringed.

"Then the strange fog rolled in over the Moskva, it was so thick you

couldn't even see the deck gun from the bridge. we turned on the search

lights but that hardly even penetrated the thick fog, and that's when it

happen. All of our electronic and systems went crazy, and loud screeching

noise where heard on our radios. I wasn't in the bridge at the time but I was

at the Galley eating my dinner when I heard gun shots, and the captain came

over on the ship's intercom and was screaming fanatically, I could hear gun

shots in the background and men screaming. The alarm was then sounded and

every was hurried out of their bunks. I unholstered my Fort-12 and flipped the

safety off, that's when the lights went out, only the read emergency lights

where still on. I decided to proceed the armory thinking we where being

attack by well armed pirates. I was about to turn the corner when a strange

shadow was cast on the bulkhead, this hideous creature turned the corner

stared at me, I unloaded my Fort-12 and ran like hell down the hall. I heard

a load roar behind me that only quickened my pace. I then heard screaming

up ahead, I peeked around the corner and saw one of those things slice one

of the Albanian Sailors open, the poor bastard's organs spilled on the floor,

the man was still alive and was screaming in pain. Then the creature smashed

his head against the wall splattering brain..." Petrov held his stomach "matter

everywhere, that scared the shit out of me. I ran down the hall and into the

utility room and slowly closed and locked the door, I felt something warm on

my hand and looked down but it was to dark to see, I felt around and my

stomach churned once I figured out who it was. It was Yuri, my childhood

friend who went to the naval academy" Petrov paused again and a tear

rolled down his face "HIS LEGS WHERE GONE, THOSE MOTHER FUCKERS TOOK

HIS LEGS OFF!" Petrov paused, his face was red "I'm sorry about that, I sat

there for what seemed like hours until the ship lurched upwards and a large

metal object fell on me knocking me out, when I woke up I heard you guys

and thought those things where still there. I looked for a weapon, I found

Yuri's AKM but the receiver was smashed, and that's when you guys opened

the door. I'll probably never forget no matter how hard I try."

Now that they were at periscope depth and ready, Captain Roger Tarthon ordered, "Periscope up!" It was time to see just what had happened to the Czechalrussian destroyer that could cause it to produce such awful hull sounds. What indeed?
After acquiring the vessel, Tarthon wished he hadn't. "No... way..." It looked like something from a cheap horror movie, or even a science-fiction film. "Sonar, what's the status on the boomer we saw?"
"The Monomakh sir?" Sonar Officer Staff Lieutenant Claudia Dralings quipped knowingly. The vessel's database had the Russian SSBN already listed quite specifically in its sound catalogue, so identification had been easy whenever the boat had been moving. "Gone. We had her for a brief moment, but she's gone too low and seems to be making for port."
"Very well, get us into range of the Moskva and prepare a boarding party." They too had to see what sort of calamity could produce such a... GARISH scene. Whoever boarded that ship, Tarthon could obviously tell that was the only way the blood splatters made sense, sure doesn't regard human life highly. Terrorists, maybe; like those Grass Snakes we keep hearing about? I'm sure they'd like a crack at a nuclear-powered ship even if this seems a little on the brutal side even for them."
Stuck in his thoughts as the vessel cruised on prior to surfacing, Tarthon felt a peculiar sense of metaphysical dread, as if something far bigger than just a terrorist group striking big was afoot here. Maybe there is, but WHAT already? When the truth eventually came out, Roger Tarthon would of course regret that question completely; not that there would be time for regrets then...

"I know this is very hard for you to handle, but to the world, you are dead. We will take care of you well in exchange for as much information on these beings as you can provide. This isn't the first time we have dealt with these things. They came on two previous occasions. Both at Baikonur Cosmodrome. You are neing taken to Murmansk, and from there to Fortress Ural where your quarters will be ready for you. The plan is to keep you in our care for a year r so, maybe less if the paperwork goes your way. Then we will return you to your home country."
