20-04-2007, 14:37
For the First time since President Essad Romescu came to power in 1981 he has allowed the governmnet to hold its first International Press conference which will giver Foriegn Journalists the chance to finally ask all the questions they want to know about the Hermit State which is quickly coming out of its self imposed isolationism. The questions will be answered by 2nd In command Prime Minister Truka Doleshcu. He has been Prime Minister since 2004. He will answere all questions the foriegn media asks but try to avoid asking Sensitive questions about Human rights in Lerasia and the dissident journalist Victor Devenco.

So lets get this international Press conference under way

Official Londim Communique

To Lerasia,
I, Premier Huyt, Leader of Londim ask you this question. Why is it we received information that citizens of your own nation had to be rounded up to celebrate the birthday of your leader? Perhaps this shows something about the overall governing of the nation?

Premier Huyt,
The Communist State of Londim

SIC

"Sir, that's a bit of a bold question isn't it?", asked one of Huyts advsiors.

"It may be bold but this one act tells us a grea deal of this nation. Perhaps the people are not happy...maybe like a stick of dynamite waiting for a match to strike."

Official Londim Communique

The answer is informative enough for the time being.

Premier Huyt,
The Communist State of Londim

SIC
"Very imformative indeed.", mused Huyt, "Keep a file on this nation and see what it gets into in the future. If possible I want a map of the nation and all the nations major indexes, education, health, freedom etc. You know, like all the others."

Prime Minister Truka Doleshcu: Is there any more questions the international press would like to ask?
We are also preparing for Lerasia's first olympics games which we are sending a small team of only 11 athletes. But they are the finest athletes in Lerasia. He have special accademies where children as young as 3 are sent to train, train and train. The government will select what sports they go into and that sport is all they know. They see their parents oonce every 3 months. But we hope to pick up at least one medel at the upcomming olympics

Karum Hator yet again considered his options. Having just completed one foreing communique he was faced with another.
This is unusual

He hadn't anticipated the extra workload that becoming an open nation had placed on him personally.
It was already long after office hours and the light of his single desk lamp was the only light in the building.
He trusted no one else to do it.
Every single detail must be perfect.
Unfortunately he did not have the time to spare to attend this conference personally.
Well I shall see what I can conjure up.

He wrote the following letter:

"Prime Minister Truka Doleshcu,
Whilst Tiramnya regrets the fact that a representative could not attend your conference we would welcome the oppurtunity for a free and open dialogue between our nations.
We hope this can be achieved.
We also hope you can answer the following questions within your conference:

Is there any truth in the persistent rumours that Lerasia possesses nuclear weapons?

Is it true that Lerasia's army is on a major recruitment drive?

Is it true that Victor Devenco is being held without charge or trial?

We offer our deepest respect for Lerasia and hope our diplomatic relationship will blossom.

Karum Hator,
Chief Secretary to the Most Glorious Lord President Nezzel IV"

That should do it, that will sour their attitude to us immediately. And leave the way open for... well that was for later.
Skgorria
20-04-2007, 16:49
The Skgorrian journalist stood up and produced a tape recorder.
"Ivan Gorobets of The Skgorrian Times," he announced. "Prime Minister Doleshcu, why has your nation decided to end its isolation now, and what does it hope to gain?"
Lerasia
20-04-2007, 16:54
Prime Minister Doleshcu smiled "well, we feel that after quarter of a century of a hermetical nature and look how far its gotten us, we want to join the rest of the world now. But we want to not take it so fast, Its like a tap that was once never turned, we cant open it all teh way and let out a flooding torrent of water, we want a calm trickle at first, you will have to excuse my poor comparisons"
Tiramnya
20-04-2007, 17:23
Finally Lytan had arrived. In the current state of affairs Hator had requested he come personally.

He pushed his way to the front of the crowd and jostled for attention.

Time to catch this smug idiot off guard.

"We heard that Victor Devenco was tortured then deported to a radioactive zone to die? Is this true? Is it true you've deported 500 prisoners to die a painful death on foreign ground?"

That got him!
Lerasia
20-04-2007, 17:30
The Prime Minister looked shocked then put his head down for a minute then looked up
well you were told before to avoid these issues But seeing as you asked I will answere. He was interrigated for Sedition. the highest crime in Lerasia! He spoke out against President Romescu, called for disorder, He led a violent hatefilled demonstration that had to be dispersed, those 500 traitors were criminals, after 2 months in prison we gave them the opourtunity to redeem themselves by helping the unfortunate nation of Kansiov. They all accepted and now they are helping those people. And they can remain there if they want, we dont want criminals here!
Lerasia
20-04-2007, 17:32
The prime Minister carried on
Never has a government been this nice to its criminals! we let them leave with their lives! they should be thankful! no only that but we have made hero's out of them!
Tiramnya
20-04-2007, 17:36
Lytan was shocked at this open admission of murder.

"So you sent 500 men to certain exile and almost certain death because they didn't like your president? But that's....that's...."

He gave up and waited for the prime minister to respond...
Lerasia
20-04-2007, 17:38
Thats Rediculous! we dont need to hear this!

the prime minister looked desperate and looked all around the room for another journalist with a question, the Prime Minister geustured to a Lerasian journalist "uh you there do you have any questions, ma'am?"
she could tell that she needed to do somthing "um yes I... but then the Outspoken Journalist interupted again
Tiramnya
20-04-2007, 17:44
Finally Lytan mangaed to finish his sentence,

"You're right. That's ridiculous! How can an organisation claiming to be a government destroy so many of it's citizens that it's claiming to serve? This isn't a government it's a dictatorship. The freedom of speech is a basic human right! How can you even sleep at night knowing you're committing these atrocities?"

Lytan was shouting now! Sweat was running of his forehead and his blood boiled with anger, with hate, with what he knew was RIGHT!
Lerasia
20-04-2007, 17:52
The prime Minister sat silent, The room was waiting for an explanation, the Regime that he served had been shown off to the world, but the Prime Minister knew that the world must of know from the start, this nation has been like this since 1981 and only NOW people are critising it

The prime Minister spoke up, he looked guilty
Lerasia is a nation, like the nation you represent, like any nation the journalists in this room represent we have civilians an army, a functioning economy. The 1981 revolution saved this nation from destitution. of course Lerasia has its short comings but it is after all run by humans and no human is perfect....
with that one of the Lerasian aids standing by the door walked up to the Prime Minister, the aid spoke in a low whisper only those in the front row could make it out it sounded a bit like "promise them something, do something we are supose to be entering into the world, after this we will be sent back into isolationism but this time with sanctions" The Prime Minister nodded and then spoke back to the crowd.
I see this room is getting a little heated, lest have a short intimission shall we? we just compleated the 'Tower of Romescu Thought' Standing at 200 meters tall, photo's of it and its construction are in the ajoining room along with tea, coffee and muffins...
Lerasia
20-04-2007, 18:21
The Tea lounge was filled with the international guests eating the muffins and sipping the tea. at the Far end of the room was a huge Portrait of the president Essad Romescu. the room was full of the chatter between the diffirent journalists but after the heated debate a hard tension was in the room, a few journalists were suprised Security didnt remove the Outspoken journalist
Tiramnya
20-04-2007, 18:26
Lytan stormed off to his communicator and in a rage told Karum Hator everything he'd found out. To his dismay the reply he received was short and precise.

"Provoke them"

His rage curbed somewhat he strode off to room where all the delegates were gathered.
Lerasia
20-04-2007, 18:32
Prime Minister Truka Doleshcu sipped down his coffe, his face was quite red, not from rage but embarrasment. The whole world saw what happened in that room, should the President Romescu find out what will happen, will Lerasia retreat back into isolationism or worse will Truka Dleshcu lose hi job, deported to a labour camp, executed for the international embarrasment. But right now Truka Doleshcu felt that he should try to slavage something of the situation, be walked up to the nearest journalist "so terrible whats happened over in......" Truka Doleshcu's face turned white, that outspoken journalist strode into the room, he looked intent on continueing the debate
Skgorria
20-04-2007, 18:35
Ivan looked at the portrait of the President.
A powerful figure he thought, but not as powerful as our beloved Fuhrer, or even the mighty Olgich Peter. Picking up a muffin in his left hand, he wandered over to the nearest Lerasian and stuck out his right hand.
"Ivan Gorobets of Skgorria," he stated in a warm tone with a disarming smile.
Lerasia
20-04-2007, 18:38
The Skgorrian journalist introduced himslef to the young, attractive female Lerasian journalist she blushed "Ivan Gorobets, pleased to meet you, I'm Sienna Vuricusco" She put her half empty tea cup on the table. "Skgorria huh, I think we are sending our first civilian over their on an exchange, the first civilian to leave in 25 years"
Skgorria
20-04-2007, 18:48
"A pleasure to meet you, Sienna Vuricusco," smiled Ivan. "You're right, my paper ran that story on the front page. The case of your nation is rather rare, I don't know anything about it. Would you mind telling me a little about Lesaria, I'll fully credit you as a source."
Lerasia
20-04-2007, 18:59
Sienna Smiled she seemed excited to speak to a foriegner, her hand ran down her shoulder length, brown, straight hair
"well where shoudl I begin, I guess I should start before the Revolution, before 1981"
she tooka sip from her tea then places it back on the table

"Before the revolution we were under a highly corrupt government that only cared about money, we had one major ruling party, all the other parties were either outlawed or thier leaders were harrased. It began in 1980 after the highly fraudulent elections a huge demonstration took to the streets of Berezin. Our current great leader was the leader of the demonstration back then"

she geustured to the Portrait of the man with thick brown hair, youthful smile and sinscere eyes that seemed to smile too.

"The governmnet crushed the demonstration and so our leader had to flee across the border, in that time he smuggled in articles he had written and then within a year he came back with force and he overthrew the governmnet and established the new government, he saved the nation from Destitution, I was born in 1980 so i dont remember that early period at all"

Sienna took another sip from her tea

"well carrying on, we went into self imposed isolationism. to the outside world the new governmnet was worse then the old one but that isnt true. we have a greater life then we ever had under his leadership. Well I guess the beginning of our move from isolationism begins with that man there"

she stared at Prime Minister Truka.

"he came in the great leaders trust and in 2004 he became 2nd in command, his influence is the maindriving force for our move out of isolationism, we are even allowing tourism in our borders by mid 2007! well thats about it" she gave a small smile then finished off her tea

Lytan strode into the room with the intention of confronting the prime minister. But in the crowd he couldn't make out the figure of the prime minister.
He calmed himself down and decided to bide his time. He couldn't change the country in a day.
So a few more minutes could pass. He wandered around milling with the crowd looking for someone to talk to...
Skgorria
20-04-2007, 19:06
"Fascinating, fascinating," Ivan stated with an interested tone. This was a truly unique country and if he could do a wide story on it, he might yet make Editor...
"Your leaders are obviously brave men, but I'm sure there must have been great opposition from supportters of the previous government. Have you been successful at integrating supporters of your previous regime into your current government, for example bureaucrats and army commanders?" He asked, nibbling on the muffin. It was delicious.
Lerasia
20-04-2007, 19:12
Sienna's face scruched up into a sort of confused and reluctant expression

"well....Well they were enimies, they threw our nation back, they got what they deserved, the others just fled over the border where they live in luxury with all of the Lerasian money they horded"

Sienna then looked back to the portrait of Romescu

"the other supporters of the old governmnet in the civilian population were taken to re-education centers but we never hear from them, we dont want to talk about that"

"Well is there anything else you want to know?"
Lerasia
20-04-2007, 19:28
"Acually I would love to hear about your nation, tell me about Skgorria"
Tiramnya
20-04-2007, 19:30
Lytan had been listening to nearby conversations with horror.

The atrocities committed! And no one seemed to realise it was wrong! Half of them didn't realise it was happening!

He wandered away from a Skgorrian ambassador and the young aide he was talking to. He was walking towards another group when his pager went off.
Lerasia
20-04-2007, 19:38
Prime Minister Truka called his body guards over

"That journalist, I want to know if he is staying at a hotel, what phone calls he has made during his stay, his family, just anything you an find on, this guy is definate trouble, an agitator in our nation, and it sickens me to know that we cant touch him because he's a god damn foriegner"

he leant over once more to the big barrel chested sercurity guard

"i want all his movements traced for the duration of his stay"

the security guard began walking away

"Oh and one more thing, should that man come anywhere near me I want you to move to plan B"
Skgorria
20-04-2007, 19:48
"Well," began Ivan when a pager went off. Blasted things! he cursed, if that person is so desperate to talk to someone else then why don't they just go and meet up?
"Sorry about that," Ivan grinned, recovering from his mental tirade. "So, you would like to know about Skgorria? Well, I shall begin right at the start. I specialised in history at school and came first in my year," he beamed before settling down to his telling of Skgorria's past.
"We were originally only a group of tribes that were first united around the year 854 AD, but then fell apart upon that warlord's death. We were once again united roughly a hundred years later, only to be conquered in the year 1004 by the Islamists. A warlord called Brzno lead Skgorria and several other nations together, founding the kingdom of Brzno and overthrowing the Caliphate in the battle of Four Rivers in 1123. The kingdom of Brzno was conquered in 1353 by the Polish, and then at some point in the seventeenth century the Polish were overthrown by the Brznovians, but Brzno split apart into the various countries and thus Skgorria existed again. We were conquered by the Russians in 1776 I think, and became the Soviet Republic of Brzno in 1923. Then," he beamed, "in 1934 the National Socialist Party was established and after gaining much support, overthrew the Soviets in 1941 in collaboration with the Germans. We fought with our fraternal allies until the death, and some of our soldiers were even present at the battle of Berlin. Reconquered in 1945, we were once again the Soviet Republic of Brzno until the fall of the Soviet Union when a brutal civil war tore it apart and established Skgorria as the proud state it is today. One of the last bastions of National Socialism, we pride ourselves in strength, obedience and discipline."
Lerasia
20-04-2007, 19:51
Sienna smilled greatfully

"thanks for that but i'm sorry I dont know what national socialism is, or communism for that matter, we are only taught at school 'The Leaders Way'
which is what we are under today, sorry"

Sienna looked around cautiously

"hey do you wanna head out onto the back balcony? you can see the tower of Romescu thought perfectly"
Skgorria
20-04-2007, 20:39
"No problems Miss, always happy to teach," Ivan grinned. "I'll have to lend you my copy of Mein Kampf sometime, it makes for great reading." Noticing her glancing around, Ivan's instinct told him something was up. He had survived his tour in Die Boerstaat mainly thanks to his good instincts, and thought that going out to the terrace was a great idea.
"Lead on," he stated, grabbing a biscuit for the walk.
Lerasia
20-04-2007, 20:47
Sienna led Ivan out of the room through the back glass sliding door that led onto the balcony. Sienna shuffled quickly over to the railing, looking over the view of the drab souless city. Huge wide avenues criscrossed the city making all the blocks and streets perfectly aligned and symetrical. Row after row of housing was exacly identical and Portraits of Romescu were plastered up all over the city showing him in different poses. In the distance the huge spire that was the tower of Romescu Thought, stuck out from the city center reaching into the sky

"Sorry, I just needed to get out of that room....it was just to crowded, the tension, it was just getting to me...sorry"

after a long pause Sienna continued

"I also wanted to bring you out here so you could see the city, what do you think? its ok to give me your honest opinion"

Sienna turned back to the dull cityscape, where other than the presidential palace and the Tower of Romescu thought, every building was 7-10 stories high made from a drab grey stone with no attemp to make the colours more appealing
Honako
20-04-2007, 22:06
Lytan had been listening to nearby conversations with horror.

The atrocities committed! And no one seemed to realise it was wrong! Half of them didn't realise it was happening!

He wandered away from a Skgorrian ambassador and the young aide he was talking to. He was walking towards another group when his pager went off.

Honako, after hearing much, not good, about this nation, had decided to send a person to the talk. One of the strangest things about Honako, which many would class as an oppressed nation, was it’s relatively free press – though Mr. Wilson was not of the free press, but a senior journalist from the government run newspaper, The Honako Branch, the most popular broadsheet in Honako. The government had sent him to report on what was taking place in at the conference, and some of the things he had heard, such as Lerasia admitting to sending men into a contaminated area to save lives yet die, had shocked him, and would help formulate Honako’s official position on the government.

He had noticed the bravery of the one journalist, known as Lytan, and whilst he saw him walking somewhere to look at his pager, he sliped him a note that simply said. “I, and the nation of Honako completely agree with what your doing. What this nation is doing is criminal, and we have heard rumours of far worse.”
Skgorria
20-04-2007, 23:05
Ivan promptly joined her and leaned over the railings.
"You want my honest opinion on this," he asked, waving his hand at the uniform city. "I look at it and see order, discipline and power. The wilderness lies tamed beneath mankind, the way it should be. Why when I was in Die Boerstaat," he stopped himself, a bead of sweat on his forehead. "I'm sorry, some things should not be spoken of. What do you see?"
Tiramnya
21-04-2007, 02:21
Lytan clutched the piece of paper in his left hand but hadn't even read it yet. His pager...
He whirled around and ran to the communicator he had used before. He frantically pushed the buttons until he got through to Hator's office.

"Hello? Hator? This is rid..."

A polite female voice cut him off.

"I'm sorry. Mr Hator isn't available at the moment. He's out of office. If you wou...."

This time Lytan interuppted screaming down the phone
"Where, by Nezzel, is he?"

"Exactly there sir. He has an audience with The Most Glo.."

Lytan hung up. He'd heard enough.

What was he doing there? And what had the message meant?

"I want them angry."

All it had said.

I'll be damned if I play Hator's games this time.

Suddenly he remembered the note. He glanced down at it.

“I, and the nation of Honako completely agree with what your doing. What this nation is doing is criminal, and we have heard rumours of far worse.”

He remembered his rage again. He stormed back out to the meeting room, to first find the representative of Honako. Then have WORDS with the Prime Minister.

------------------------

Hator strode into the audience chamber of Nezzel IV. His Most Glorious Lord President Nezzel IV.

How weak he is. All the power of Tiramnya and the man wielding it is so weak.

"My Lord the situation in Lerasia is graver than we thought action may be required..."
Lerasia
21-04-2007, 04:49
Meanwhile on the balcony, Sienna brushed the hair our of her face

"thats a good answer, but i have read that in other places of the world their is such magnificent architecture, Mehatjej our second largest city in the south has the most stunning architecture, i've only been there once but it was beautiful, the government has preserved that cities architecture, whats the architecture like in Skgorria?"

just then two conference security guards strolled around the corner, they noticed the two talking and they immediatly noticed the woman was Lerasian for the green, red and yellow arm band. the two security guards walked over to the couple

"Ma'am can we see your ID"

Sienna looked startled, her lips began to tremble and her face began to light up red

"um...of course, sure" Sienna turned her arm so her palm was facing the security guards and she pulled up her sleve to reveal a small tatoo'ed barcode on the underside of her wrist

The security guards scanned the barcode with a small, black object, the security guards looked at the screen on the top of the contraption, mug shots flashed across the screen until it stoped on Sienna's mug shot

"your a journalist at this conference?"

"um, yes i am" she answered

"well ms Vuricusco the conference is in there not out here"

Sienna began moving away from the railing

"sorry, i just needed some fresh air...."

Sienna walked back into the conference room
Lerasia
21-04-2007, 05:01
Lerasian aides were on cell phones and quickly writting up notes on small note books, camera men fiddled with the equipment getting the camera's ready, Prime Minister Truka was standing at the front conference desk speaking to one of his aids

"is there some way we can make this less painful, I knew some smart mouth mother fucker would screw this up for us, cant we distract his attention to get that journalist out of the room"

"well what do you sugget we do"

"I dont fucken know, just silence him somehow, acually get all the lerasian journalist in here now, make them stand near the front"

The aides quickly ran into the tea room looking for all the lerasian journalists
minutes later they returned with the journalists. One of Prime Minister Truka's aides spoke to the journalists

"we dpont want this screwed up any more, ok, so if that journalist tries to start up one of those subjects i want you to over power him with your own questions, I wrote a quick list of what you can all say"

The aide handed out spereate peiced of paper that had been ripped out of his note book and he passed them to the journalists

another aid then went into the tea room

"ok everyone I hope we are ready for the second half of the press conference, if you could all make your way into the conference room"
Honako
21-04-2007, 10:08
Mr. Wilson proudly sat down and looked ahead. He wondered what Lytan would say next this was quite a show. He had no need to ask question - tomorrow Honako's leading newspaper would be publishing the details of this conference, and the horrible atrocities Lerasia had committed, and most of the nation would know.

He turned and saw Lytan looking around, with a raging angry look on his face. The Honako man looked forward again - he hoped he was angry with Lerasia not him.

Prime Minister Truka Doleshcu shuffled foward in his seat up to the conference table microphone, he cleared his throat

Before he began talking a aide rushed up to Prime Minister Truka and whispered something in his ear, the whole room was quiet except for a few chatters at the back of the room, Truka nodded his head quickly and then waved the Aide away. he looked back up to the room full of journalists waiting for a question or reaction.....

SIC:

"So sending their own citizens to certain death becuase they protested. Even we allow that. Sounds like someone is trying to hold onto power no matter what the cost even lives. And this journalist, :ytan who is asking these questions seems like a good person. I want this message sent to him discreetly."

To Lytan,

We have never had contact before but the actions of Lerasia are interesting to say the least. We would like you to get as much information as possible. Of course we will not ask you to do something for nothing so we are open to any offer you may have. Our nation is also horrified by what they have done. But it must be understood that going to war with a nation as new as theirs would be political suicide. Expose this nation to the world as much as possible and we'll see what happens from there. This regime seems like a similar image of the previous one.

Premier Huyt,

The room was still quite quiet, it was a very awkward silence. The entire room was expecting another intersting confrontation between Lytan and Prime Minister Turka.

Turka began to turn red in the face. he cleared his throat again. the room was still silent, Truka was seperate

"Ugh...Uh...Um you there miss" Truka pointed to Sienna the young Lerasian journalist standing at the front.

"Um yes sir...." She paused for a while to read from the note one of the aides had given her "I...I would like to know what the Lerasian governments view is on the opening of our borders to tourism and teh special Tourist Zone to the south of Lerasia, this question is for the benifit of the outside world"
Sienna then scrunched up the paper and put it in her pocket

Truka gave out a small laugh
"Well yes, I want to tell the rest of the world that for the first time since 1981 we will open our borders to tourism starting from July this year when our first tourist resort will open in the Special Tourist Zone and on special public holidays we will allow this great city of Berezin to be open to Foriegners to take part in the many celebrations"

Truke then smiled to himself he felt he was getting the situation under control, he looked around the room for another journalist before Lytan could but in......
