GROB, THRESH - Moments ago at the Council Hall, the Republic of Thresh experienced not one, but two shifts in power (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=524145) in rapid succession, the first revolutions in the past century. The Council of Thresh, and the Premier, were executed by delusional revolutionary Spencer Ithead, who was then taken down by Owen Drescht. Drescht was then named Premier.

Drescht's first act was to repeal the recent HIV/AIDS legislation (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=523973) which was so unpopular with the citizens of Thresh, and which prompted the revolution. There is no word on who will be in Premier Drescht's cabinet, or what plans he has for the nation, but based on the inspiring speech he delivered atop the Council Hall, outcomes look positive.

From: The Errikan Empire

We Errikans cannot condone your murder of the sovereign rulers of your nation, nor your violent siezure of power that this was part of. However, we do see your opportunity to bring positive change and advancement to your nation. Thus, though we with hold any recognition of your current regime at this point, we are more than willing to extend this should you show yourselves apt rulers.

To The Errikan Empire:

While we feel that in the future, we would be open to foreign relations, we will also feel that now is the time for rebuilding our nation as a prominent and powerful voice for freedom, as opposed to the somewhat oppressive body it once was. We wish that the change could have happened peacefully, but unfortunately, as is often the case, those in power do not readily relinquish it.

Official USSW Congratulations and Recognition of Threshian Revolutionary Regime
Although I must admit I was dubious that you would succeed at first, given what seemed to us the overzealous and counterproductive actions of your movement's former leader, you have renewed my faith that the People's Will does succeed where it must. This issue had nothing to do with forms of state or economics; but rather, simple human dignity and compassion which the prior regime denied your HIV/AIDS afflicted citizens.
Hence, we in Wagdog salute our comrades in the Revolution under Premier Drecht; and extend our full recognition and support to the new Threshian government. If you need assistance with what we can only surmise is an unusually strong epidemic of the HIV virus in your nation, we have 50 hospital ships standing by; some of which can easily take on work in your nation in addition to their responsibilities in our ongoing war abroad. We ask all nations to do the same, in terms of extending aid and recognition to the Threshian government; out of simple kindness regardless of ideology. It is the right thing to do, and that is all.

Sincerely,
Carolinus Horridus
Party Secretary, Wagdoggie Revolutionary Party

To Owen M. Drescht of Thresh,

The Aequatian Republic, although not condoning the methods of the change in administration, is relieved by the fact that the new governing body has maintained control and authority of the nation. It is at this time that the Republic also wishes to extend its hand in aid to your nation with the deployment of a task force to help in the strengthening of your nation's position, the forces within the task force would include medical staff, engineers, military police, security forces and support elements.

However, the Republic has one condition for the offering of this aid, that proper democratic elections are held within six month's time in which the citizenry can choose their leadership accordingly, in place of violently placing oneself in power through violence.

Signed,

President Holden Reid of Aequatio.

To Carrolinus Horridus:

We appreciate your offer of aid, and gladly accept. Illness and disease are a problem in Thresh, and we have no health care system to speak of. In addition, we appreciate your encouraging of other nations to aid us in our time of need. There is a lot to do here, and not much time to do it.

Signed,

Owen M. Drescht

To President Holden Reid:

We gladly accept the offer of engineers and medical staff, but are hesitant to allow foreign troops within our borders. That was a practice of the old government - and one we are wary of. If we allow foreign soldiers on our soil, even if their intentions are to help, then we appear weaker to our own people. I am quite faithful in the capabilities of our soldiers, but appreciate your well-intentioned offer.

As for the issue of democratic elections, I can not hold democratic elections in six months with a reasonable conscience. Six months is far too long, especially when we have elections scheduled in three.

To Administrator Owen M. Drescht of Thresh,

The deployment of security forces with the task group would have the safety of our own personnel in mind, we cannot in good faith rely on the military and police forces of your nation, especially with the recent coup, for the security and protection of our medical and engineer staffs. We can provide you with a complete listing of the forces that would be involved in the task group and we may be willing to negotiate as to which forces are allowed entry, but we cannot place our own people at risk. We hope you understand this.

In the matter of elections, if you had noticed the wording ("...within six month's time...") the time frame was offered as a maximum period in which your revolutionary party would remain in power. Three months is more than acceptable if the logistic effort can be mustered and organized.

Signed,

President Holden Reid of Aequatio

To President Holden Reid:

Your troops, if for the stated purpose, are more than acceptable. However, if they act to do anything other than their stated purpose, they will have to be removed from our borders. If that means that you also withdraw your aid, then so be it. Our sovereignty is not for sale, no matter how sweet the kitty.

To Zeara:

Apparently, literacy is not high on your people's priority list. As you can see from my official letterhead, this is a Republic, not a territory, not a colony, and most certainly not a nation that takes kindly to your posturing. Our government is, and has always been, elected. If you were to take the time to research, or even to read the news updates, you would know that.

Unfortunately, you did not, and your 50 troops entered our borders without permission. That is unacceptable. If your troops are not removed from our borders within twelve hours, we will be forced to deal with them ourselves.

I warn you, our countermeasures are already being put into action. We may not have fancy names for our soldiers, but I assure you, they are capable.

Signed,

TO:The Republic of Thresh

The Holy Emperor sends his regards and although he does not condone your methods he admires your courage, fortitude, and attempts to better your nation. The Holy Emperor does not at this time recognize your Premiership but looks forward to the elections you will hold in three months, and hopes your leadership (as it is obviously lead by good intentions and intelligence) will continue. We look forward to future good relations and international cooperation.

Signed:The Holy Emperor of Spreag
