Mafia/Trial RP (Interest/OOC)
This was inspired by the movie Casino, specifically, when one of the mob bosses had his house searched by the feds.
What will happen is that the main character (the one I play) will have been a reputable hit man/fixer for the five families. He will have performed several high profile hits/jobs between the '70s and '80s, but have never actually been indicted.
The mafiosi will be picked up on minor charges, but as soon as he gets arrested, one of his former crew members turns states evidence and spills his guts. Things will be further complicated by the fact that he has detailed records of all the payoffs he delivered and hits he performed--enough evidence to ruin the five families, which he has hidden in an unknown location, and has threatened to unearth if anything bad ever happened to him. However, only the mafia knows about this.
So we need:
The Judge
The heads of the five families and their crews
The prosecution
The Jury (someone can play a couple of jurors)
The witness (the guy who turned states)
Misc. Police/FBI agents
I'm open to other character suggestions (a crooked FBI agent might be interesting), but I plan for the majority of this to happen in court. Logistically, I plan for a segment to take place in court, then court will be adjourned, and things happen (people are whacked, jury is tampered with etc.), then this stops when court is back in session.
I will, of course, play the man on trial and his attorney.
EDIT:
My character:
Name: Leon Tomassino
Height: 5'8"
Weight: 170 lbs.
Bio: Born in Sardinia in the '50s, Leon's father was part of The French Connection, and Leon joined his father in smuggling heroin from Marseilles to the US until his father was murdered by rival gangsters. He initially attempted to take over his father's operations, but his rivals were too powerful and Leon fled to the United States, where he joined the Army in exchange for full citizenship.
Leon showed amazing physical strength, and his violent childhood had led him to be able to tolerate the most brutal aspects of his training easier than his fellow soldiers. In Vietnam, he was attatched to the Phoenix Program that trained South Vietnamese death squads. It is unknown how many people he killed, but Leon was given an honorable discharge in 1970, along with full citizenship.
The nature of his combat led him deep into Laos, where he made contact with many opium growers, and he later returned as a private citizen and began creating his own network. In the United States, he made friends with the five families, who allowed him to operate because he immediately offered them a cut of his profits, and later eliminated their most prominent enemies.
Over two years after eliminating a federal witness, Leon was involved in a twelve car pile-up (through no fault of his own), but he had a paper cup full of Tequila in his car's cupholder, and the argument with the police officer that ensued resulted with Leon in handcuffs.
I would be interested, particularly as a crooked FBI as you mentioned.
I would be interested, particularly as a crooked FBI as you mentioned.
Cool. I plan on making this more complicated--that my guy served in Vietnam to gain his citizenship in the US, specifically as part of the Phoenix program (Linky (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phoenix_Program)) which led to his interest as a contract killer. If this is to be the case, then the trial will take place in the 90's.
If you want, my guy could have met your guy while serving in 'nam.
Here is the information major hits/jobs Leon pulled that the witness should tell to the FBI. Everyone knows about these, but the connection between was never established.
-C.A.L. Air Lines Heist: Flight 1261 from Tel Aviv to New York through Luxemborg was carrying 200 carats of polished and cut diamonds and roughly $500,000 in American dollars (from currency exchange facilities). The heist was done with 10 men, using submachine guns, with the promise that the crew got all cash on board and 20% of the fence. Leon supplied US customs uniforms and identification cards, which allowed them access into the hangar. Once inside, they subdued the security and the airline crew. One of the airline security guards sounded a silent alarm and the police showed. Leon negotiated with the police long enough for his crew to escape through a sewer hatch. The hatch led to a sewer pipe that let out in the river and there were zodiac boats waiting. After fencing the gems to his contact in California, "Blackfoot", Leon paid his crew $1 million.
-Assasination of the gaming comissioner: Albert Heskow, a man on the gaming chair from Las Vegas who was attempting to put the five family's contact in Las Vegas in the black book. Leon's crew tailed the comissioner until he went into a gay bar. Leon and three members of his crew entered the club with submachine guns and opened fire on the senator and the man he was entwined with. Two members of his crew waited in nearby cars The news of his death was largely supressed because of the location and both victims were buried in a closed casket.
-Boston job: The New England families were under FBI surveiliance, so Leon was sent to recover a shipment of heroin. While the drugs were being loaded, Leon killed one of the men on the ship. In seconds, rival mobsters came from behind one of the warehouses. Leon provided sufficient fire for his crew to get into the van and they escaped with the drugs, leaving them to the rival gangsters. Leon killed five people that day.
-Assasination of Federal Witness: A made man turned stateside, and was being taken in an unmarked police car to make a federal deposition about the five families before being taken into protective custody. While the witness was being taken across the Brooklyn Bridge in a police car, Leon was on top of a half completed construction site, with his two members of his crew waiting in a getaway car. Leon obtained the location from a contact in law enforcement, and succesfully dispatched the witness after firing two shots. He was taken to the airport where a chartered plane awaited him and took him out of the country for six months.
He was arrested two years after his return to the states.

Can I be the head of the Boston Irish Mob or the Westies?
It should be noted that my characters are not Sicilian or Neapolitan, so it is unlikely that they were ever actually "made" by the five families.
The attorney:
Name: Nabulione "Nibbles" Raffaro
Ht: 5'11"
Wt: 150 lbs.
Bio: Born in Corsica to the second cousin of Leon, Nibbles earned his nickname because of his rat-like appearance. He originally excelled in academics, studying at a private academy in Rome, but he impregnated the daughter of a Sicilian gentleman from Corleone. Equally fearing death and marriage, Nibbles contacted his "uncle" Leon in American and eventually relocated to the U.S. Leon, instead of bringing Nibbles into his trade, sent him to a military school and then, after paying several bribes to make his numerous mishaps disappear, sent him to college. After a healthy endowment, Nibbles was able to enter the Georgetown School of Law, and after graduating Law School, Nibbles discovered he actually could get paid to create even more mischief than he had before while being considered a protector of the law.
Over the recent years, the roles between Nibbles and Leon reversed, with Nibbles' excellent legal work ruining any case that was built against Leon before Leon even set foot in a court. Nibbles has succesfully defended many others outside his uncle, including several media and political stars from allegations of corruption to sexual misconduct, making him well known as someone who could defend anyone from anything.
Can I be the head of the Boston Irish Mob or the Westies?
Your welcome to, but keep in mind that they were enemies of the 5 families, and I wanted to make it look like they were the ones who tried to screw the drug deal in Boston. This will mostly take place in New York.

I'll play an FBI agent who has relatives in the mafia and is trying hard tonot become biased in this case.
Ok, so we have a couple of FBI agents and a potential gang that stands to profit from the prosecution of my guy. We still need a judge and jury, the heads of the five families and the witness.
Since this is a federal case, I like to be a Marshal.
We are officially long on feds, and short on criminals. All current applications are accepted, but for now we need the five families, the judge and the jury.

I might be interested in a Mob boss, but it'd be best if you gave me info on the specific famillies.
I might be interested in a Mob boss, but it'd be best if you gave me info on the specific famillies.
I kind of intentionally left that open to the individual's desire. Basically, they are supposed to be the archetypal Sicilian mafia, running gambling, protection rackets, loansharking and union skimming in New York, with interests in Las Vegas.
The significance of my character's ethnicity is that because he is Corsican and not Sicilian, he is never totally accepted into any of the Sicilian mafias. Leon's lack of a 'made man' status allows him to do house cleaning within the mafias as well as handle things the families technically did not want to be involved with such as drugs.
The bare facts that I ask to be included with the five families are:
-Leon helped them one way or the next, by either giving a cut of his drug money or heists or eliminating unreliable people.
-Leon because of his ethnicity or other reasons can not be admitted as a full member into any of the families.
-Leon has highly incriminating evidence linking each of the families to their illegal operations that only Leon and the families know about. Only the mafia and Leone's crew (including the witness) know of this evidence, and the mafia knos that it will be released if Leone is killed. Only Leone knows where the evidence is kept.
If you want, my guy could have met your guy while serving in 'nam.
Sure. I'll post the bio now.
Name: Wilson Renard
Height: 5' 7"
Weight: 168 lbs
Bio: Wilson was born in 1952, in the Soviet Union to a Russian mother and an East German father. His mother dissapeared slightly after his birth and his father was a semi-important government official who defected to the west and brought Wilson with him. Upon reaching the states his name was changed (he doesn't remember his original name, it was a Russian/German name) and his father went into hiding to escape retaliation. However, he eventually came out of hiding and entered law enforcement, quickly rising up to head the local department in their town but then was killed when Wilson was in his early twenties.
Desperate to get away from it all, Wilson left and joined the US Army, eventually ending up in Vietnam. There he met Leon and the two got onto good terms. However, Leon went onto the Phoenix Program and the two lost contact. After the war ended, Wilson returned to the US, unsure of what to do. A run-in with an old friend of his father's from law enforcement made him decide to join the police, and then after several years, he joined the FBI.
Renard was content to stay in his position as an agent, and didn't try to increase his rank. One day, while in an investigation, Renard was ambushed and the man he was investigating made him a deal. In exchange for his life, and then later rewards, he would drop the case and remain on call. Renard accepted, worried for his life, but soon discovered that he liked the life of a double agent, and after the original mob boss was killed he set up work with one of the five families. He is now actively working to find the records, and use them to the advantage of the family, under the cover of finding them for the investigation.
Just in other important info, Renard has black hair, Russian/German features, and green eyes. He usually carries his standard issue SIG P226 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SIG_P226) and also has a hidden Browning Hi-Power most of the time.

Westies were actually allies of the Gambinos.
But I'd prefer to be a Godfather.
Don Nicholas "Poky" Minicino of the Orango Family
Ht: 6'1"
Wt: 200 lbs.
(WILL ADD INFO LATER)
Westies were actually allies of the Gambinos.
I didn't know about that. I actually don't know that much about them, but I knew the Patriarca family had troubles with the Winter-Hill Gang.
Its good if you want to be a member of the five family. All I ask is you follow the guidelines I made a few posts above.
Name: Robert Calstall
Height: 6'-3"
Age: 32
Weight: 225lbs
Bio: Calstall served 5 years as a detective in the Las Vegas Metropolian Police Department before joining the US Marshal Service. He was assigned to the New York office where he serves the American people.

Name: Sunny Macciano
Occupation: Don of the Gambino Family
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 220 lbs
Age: 46
Description: Think Robert DeNiro
Bio: Sunny has spent his whole life in the mob. He worked up from simple protection hits and simple deals up to major fencing and rackateering. He was made the new Don after his father, Louis, was whacked in a chinese resteraunt by the Triads. He proceded to wage a street war with the Triads and finally came out on top. He became entangled with Leon when he had a hit done on a Triad boss back in '99.

Hate to be a ball buster but its the Gambinos not the Gottis. On top of that I am attempting to not use real names for my own safety...hint, hint.
On top of that I don't think you need to be sicilian to be Made (in the US). I think you just have to be Italian and a member of the Catholic Church.
But my information comes from Wiki, so you never know.

ok, heres his bio
Name: Luzio Giordano
Height: 5'10"
Weight: 150 lbs.
Bio: A seemingly scrawny man from the streets, Giordano is really a hitman with a veangance. As a young boy, his father, a baker, was murdered by a rival mafia hitman who wanted a cut of the buisness profits. That was 25 years ago in the Little Italy of New York. After that, he ran away. On the streets, he learned hand to hand combat, along with a few nifty tricks (below the belt, but handy). He joined the mafia at 21 and ever since has worked his way up to being one of the top hitmen for the Gambinos.

I might do the Jury. I just need to know, how many will I be controlling and do I need a complete seperate bio for each one or just names and the like?
It seems like there isn't much interest in playing jury, so unless someone else wants it really badly, I think you will play all 12. As for bios, I don't think a full-fledged bio is necessary. Maybe a few of the jurors could have some tie to any of the parties involved or some bias (not all, though, because the jury selection process tends to remove those who have an overt bias).
Can I be the press???
Absolutely. I even have a few off the record quotes from Leone during the arrest (what got him arrested). The RP will begin immediately after he posts bail.
Still need a judge, though. And still waiting for Kuli to post a prosecutor, though I plan on allowing a day or so to pass before the actual trial begins.

You know when I saw this I went "I want to be the Judge"
And look. The Judge is the only one left.
Signs up for the judge.
Name: Ronald Hertz
Bio: A judge that is bald before his time despite being 54 years old. He has tried many trials and has presided over many cases including a number of high profile cases which may or may not have had any Mafia relations. He's tough but even handed won't take any funny business from either side. Though has been known to occasionally give lattitude should he believe that there is a purpose. He has a young daughter despite his age, though she is in protective custody to help ensure that no one influences the Judges decision through her.
Excellent. This will probably start in the next day or two. FYI: The opening scene will be immediately after Leon posts bail (I'm thinking in the millions because he has heavy charges against him and is a flight risk) and surrenders his passport to the courts.
Bump for additional mafia families.

when is this going to start?
Now that I think of it, it would be nicer to have additional mafiosi, but we still need the federal prosecutor. Kuli is supposed to fulfill this roll, but he hasn't posted his character yet. It will be hard for the trial itself to begin without a prosecutor, but I might get things started tom.
