Izistan, Grand Imperium Sign Mutual Defence Pact
13th Corps Deployed to Izistan
The Foreign Ministry announced today that it had concluded a deal with the Izistani government, providing for mutual defence and the first steps in a common command and control system. While in previous years the Whyatican Empire and Izistan were allied through the former Alliance for the Preservation of Civilization, after the Whyatican Empire withdrew there was no formal treaty between Izistan and Whyatica.
Izistani and Whyatican aerospace industries had been partnered for years, producing such mainstays as the Gorgon II frigate and the Huntingdon missile cruiser. With the mutual defence pact, both Whyatican and Izistani high commanders pledged a higher level of cooperation in all areas.
For further security, XIII Corps from the Whyatican Army is being deployed to Izistan, where it is widely expected to be stationed along the border with Clandonia Prime, a nation which still has frosty relations with both Whyatica and Izistan. Given the looming war between Clandonia Prime and The World Soviet Party, the increased security XIII Corps provides is necessary for the protection of Izistan. It is widely expected that the Clandonian government will protest this action, but a spokesperson from the Whyatican government noted "..[the Clandonians] can stuff it."
XIII Corps is one of the more experienced units in the Whyatican Army - it served with distinction in the Last Good War, the invasion of Clandonia Prime, and Operation Hallowed Sabre. This unit was chosen particularly because of it's combat experience against Clandonian units, and it is expected to arrive in Izistan in one month.
