A powerful explosion went off at approximately 4:00 am this morning in front of the official residence of The Speaker of The Council. The speaker was treated for mild injuries, but no one else was hurt.

Initial investigations of the scene have proven inconclusive, however it is widely believed that the explosives were not military grade, leading to the conclusion that the assasin is likely a resident of The Communiy. Some are sugesting that this could be the work of the arms/drug smuggler and unlicensed mercenary known only as "Cassius", however an investigator attatched to the case said that this was unlikely.

"The ultimate question here is qui bono, or who benefits." Specialist Paul Kesson said. "Cassius and his organization flourish on not drawing attention to themselves. Eliminating the Speaker would be the worst possible move for his organization."

"That does not mean we are halting our efforts to identify and capture him." Kesson hastily added.

Speaker Alex Connor addressed the public in front of Fort Esmund Naval Base, against the advice of his security detail. The Speaker, apart from having his left arm in a sling and a fresh scar on the left side of his forehead, appeared to be in good health. His speech emphasized the security of the populace in general and the security of himself and other elected officials. "Most importantly, I think this is the time to show that we are unafraid, and that we will not allow ourselves to be pressured by the actions of those too cowardly to show their faces or too stupid to engage us with reason."

On a note of interest, Luca, the Speaker's collie was found at 5:30 am by residents about one kilometer from the Speaker's house. She was unharmed, but evidently terrified by the explosion.

This, if anything is a clear sign. The militant liberals* need to start practicing what they preach. They have, for too long, continued a policy of double think. They preach that we need to work together, and act as one, yet they allow others to pollute our society, and worse yet they not only tolerate but enforce the learning of other languages in schools.

I think that we should use history as our guide. Take the Romans, for example. As they grew, they gradually allowed the inclusion of the germanic peoples in their armies. The strength in the Romans was in their conformity. Their strength was in their unity. By foolishly subsidizing those who refused to adapt to their society, they sealed their own fate.

I think its time that the militant liberals began showing their true commitment to defense. No longer should we beg to excuse ourselves for those who are only visitors on our soil, but rather they should move to work with us. Society is not about the individual, but rather about the collective. And its time people started giving back.

You statements are apt. Liberals are murdering society, humanity, many nations and other innocents. They are a cancer on humanity. I have currently labeled all native liberals terrorists after a large group of gay rights activists held several school children hostage and said that if we don't give in to their demands and force everyone to become liberal under pain of sexual torture and death they'd rape the children and tape it. In response I decided to order SF-100s to shoot a fox missile into the installation killing the children and the terrorists, its better they die than be tortured, and I hope God has been with their souls. This is one example of the crimes they have committed. Due to recent events my nation has taken these actions as acts of war, I propose to you that all liberals are banded terrorists and that foreign ones are deported to prevent international incidents. I give you military support in dealing with these terrorists and criminals.

"Breaking News in the investigation of the bombing of the Speaker's residence. Lab tests have succesfully confirmed the presence of chemical taggants used in the manufacture of demolitions. The source is indeed local, and has been traced to a construction site outside of Esmund that reports they were broken into last night.

The Council today overwhelmingly approved an increased military spending bill. While its official budget has not been disclosed yet, it is believed that this spending measure will double the funding for the Siapian Intelligence Network, as well as substantially increase the funding for military investigators. While no security restrictions have been placed on the public, additional judges and judicial officers have been called off leave to hear the plethora of warrants being issued for additional surveiliance on suspected individuals. Anyone with information is asked to come forward."

OOC: The militant liberals are called that because they support social liberalism while strengthening the military. They are actually quite anti-tyrrany, since their largest rival is called "The Authority Party".

Alex Connor authorized Kesson to engage grace because he wanted to test the counter-insurgency capacities of the Siapian Intellingence Network and because he saw them as a threat to the sovereignty of other nations (something he cares about deeply).

An Open Letter to All from Speaker Alex Connor

I would first and foremost like to thank all of those who have worked so hard to insure the safety of others in this time of uncertainty. While my injuries are by no means great, they have made it difficult to act without emotion. I would, however, like it to be known that several individuals have been identified as possible suspects for the bombing of my home. It is not necessary for me to identify them, but they have been summoned to appear before the Citizens' Court. Jury selection has begun and I promise to do my best to insure that there will be a fair trial and that impartial justice shall be rendered.

To the international community, I would like to apologize, but I feel that this incident only serves to underscore the dangerous times that we live in. I am not going to deny the possibility of an outright expansion of all our forces, including the infrastructure for that which we never wish to use. Please do not view this as a threat, as we have no ambitions outside our humble islands and we make no claims to any territory beyond them.

To my own people, all I ask is for your continued dedication to this nation. The American writer Mark Twain said that a patriot is someone who supports his country all the time and supports the government when it deserves it. I pray that my work towards The Community has earned your support, and if it has, that you show it with all of your hearts. This is a time where we need to stand together for what we believe in. The elections are not far away, so I urge you to come forward and take part in what makes are country so excellent.

I wish to tell the world that The Community will always reach out with a hand of friendship before extending the dagger of aggression. And most of all, I desire for peace among everyone.
