GROB, THRESH - In an overwhelming 5-1 vote, the Threshian council voted to exile all citizens afflicted with HIV/AIDS, and to adhere to strict immigration policies that would require all incoming visitors to be screened for HIV/AIDS.
When asked to comment, the Minister of State, Coarsen Thresh, responded, "All people everywhere must do something to stop the spread of the vicious disease. Our country is simply unprepared to handle a widespread affliction of such magnitude. Our medical system is taxed as it is, and we refuse to put further strain on it."
This announcement prompted fervent anti-establishment rallies from the prominent equal rights group, Equality For Threshians. EFT Spokesman Marjorie Pantifilone attacked Thresh's statement, calling for "the immediate resigning of the Council after such an affront on our nation's citizens."
Pantifilone, having been diagnosed with HIV earlier this year, was then arrested and taken to central processing to be deported.
Throughout the nation, similar removals have been performed, though as few citizens of Thresh are currently affected by the virus, it caused minor ripples in the community.

What will the Threshian council do next? Perhaps they will cure diabetes by deporting all the diabetics? Or perhaps they will collectively simply stick their empty heads in the sand? As always the Federation accepts all those seeking asylum and provides health care for everyone if Free Outer Eugenia.

The Holy Empire applauds the Threshian Council's decision, and intends to follow their wise choice in due time.

Comentators in Crookfur have noted with interest the fact that so far nobody in the Threshian Council has made any kidn of statement as to where those unfortuante to have caught or been born with this illness are to be exiled or deported to, surely the threshian govenrment isn;t so weak and misgiuded to assume that other antions will take care of thier problems for them (although some will point out that there is likely a large pool of nations willing to do just this).
Of course the other major question is if the threshian health services can't find the resources to provide the plative and preventitive care for the limited number affected by this particular condition, just how bad a state is this health service in?
On a related note, the Crookfur Foreign ministry has anounced that the nation of Thresh has been added to the purple list.

The Droskianishk News Station reports that the Foreign Liason Mr. Ilok applauds Thresh in its revolutionary approach to stopping sexually transmitted diseases, however he also was reported as saying:
"Droskianishk hopes that Thresh does not close its mind and ignore the AIDS epidemic completely, and hopes that Thresh will continue to research potential cures for the disease. We also hope that the human rights of those being deported will be respected by the Threshian government for as long as those people still reside there. We also hope that the Threshian government see's to the expenses of those being deported as well as check up on living conditions and civil rights in the nations which the deportees decide to move into."
These comments were supported by the Consul of Droskianishk, Sikako Kutz, when he was reported as saying:
"Droskianishk agree's with and applauds the responsibilty and truthfulness behind Threshian actions by recognizing that AIDS has no cure and is a sexually transmitted disease, and that as such the best way of ending it is through quarantine. However, we do wish to point out to the Threshian government that exportation will not contribute to the ending of AIDS but merely spread it in other countries. Right now in our own Senate are measures being passed restricting the abilities of those with HIV/AIDS to give blood, participate in the medical profession as well as requiring those with HIV/AIDS to announce that they do have AIDS and to register as such when they recieve or renew their drivers liscense. Droskianishk however will not be deporting people with AIDS or restricting their ability to participate in the political arena. I would just like to stress that these people are still human and still deserve to be treated humanly, they are not monsters, just sick people and we hope that Thresh remembers that."

GROB, THRESH - The Minister of Health and Human Services, Prudence Perabo, after seeing the results of her request for funding, went on record as saying, "The Republic of Thresh, while having a rather stretched health care system, does care for her citizens. We recognize the gravity of what has happened, but also recognize the need for sacrifice in times of need."
While her comment was undoubtedly meant to soothe, civil rights activists around the nation were up in arms, encouraging rioting in the streets. Police were deployed throughout Auric, and rioting has broken out in New Terrabt, though the riot was soon quelled by the police presence.
Those injured in the riot, ironically, will increase the strain on the health care system, which will in all likelihood prompt further legislature to alleviate the stress.
