Gholgoth Alliance Declares War on Eralineta

The time has come for a reckoning. Lord Damien Dreadfire of Autmagfreek and Gholgoth announced some time ago the end of slavery, being that it is a vile and twisted practice. As part of this message to the world, a personal message was dispatched to the Slave Trade Union and all members of it, informing them of the overall intention of Gholgothan forces to liberate all slaves worldwide. These nations chose not to heed their warning, chose to retain their slaves, and their retribution has now come.

Even as I speak, forces from many Gholgothan nations have assembled and been dispatched for our first target, the despicable slave trading nation of Eralineta, and our second target, as-yet to be named by my Illiorian counterpart.

There are undoubtedly those who will criticize our choice of first nation to liberate, but to those I will offer this reasoning. It should be enough that Lord Dreadfire announced that the Slave Trade Union would be destroyed and forcibly disbanded, nation by nation if necessary, should the nations not give up their slaves immediately. Sadly, many nations will not accept this as enough. We pledged ourselves to the destruction of slavery, and the Slave Trade Union stands as an obvious barrier to this. Eralineta being a member is more than enough for a cassus belli against them. Regardless, we also have evidence that they purchased a number of slaves from the nation of Llanoran, another notorious slaving nation and one high on our list. These slaves, ostensibly prisoners being granted some modicum of 'freedom' by being sold like livestock to another nation, were in fact nothing more than political prisoners imprisoned by Llanoran's corrupt king, and then sold into slavery to the nation of Eralineta for whatever cause. Should the Eralinetan government choose to have them sterilized, executed, or made into meat steaks, they would have that ability. Regardless of Eralineta's justifications and half-witted arguments in favour of this slavery in everything but name, we can see through their lies. In another case, the same nation of Llanoran sold nearly 50,000 slaves to a nation which intended to use them as target practice for their military.

There are those who will criticize us for not exhausting ourselves for years diplomatically before engaging in this action. To them I have this to say: diplomacy has been tried many times in the past to rid the world of many evils, slavery being one of them, and has inevitably failed because there is no real pressure on the nation to give up their time-honoured and sickening traditions. We and other nations have already exhausted channels of diplomacy to eliminate this evil, and have met with no or backwards progress. Lord Dreadfire's proclamation was the last warning and last attempt at diplomacy for all slaving nations - that their slaves would be liberated by force. Other nations have tried such things as the Theeb Accords, or rewards for slaving nations that renounce slavery - a ridiculous concept in and of itself. I have no problem with the Theeb Accords, but one must admit they were far from successful in stopping slavery.

This is successful. This is what will be seen and heard, and what will echo through history. Actions speak louder than words, and our words on this subject have already rung through the halls of slaving nations for many years.

Eralineta is the first step. Upon their liberation, our attention shall surely already be focused elsewhere, upon our next target, or the one after that.

The slave nations have already had their warning, which they chose not to heed. Now Gholgoth is coming, and as our troops move into their positions and begin their invasions of the slaving nations, there are only two options remaining to all those who still choose to permit the foolish and vile abomination that is slavery occur within their borders.

Surrender or die. Against Gholgoth there can be no victory.

Foreign Minister Peter Firth

*

For weeks the nations of Gholgoth had been mobilizing forces on land, in the air, and by sea, for a campaign against nations of unknown origin. Hundreds of thousands of soldiers, primarily from the four nations of Haraki, Sigma Octavus, Sniper Country, and Illior, had been preparing for the first target on their list of slave trading states. By now the Harakian transport ships had been loaded with full divisions of soldiers and had left port, cruising out of the massive bay that housed Haraki's entire coastline, the massive escorting fleet making its way between the islands that made up the nations of Automagfreek and Pantera. Sub-orbital, long range stratobombers were already in the air on their way to the offending nation, if necessary with stops along the way at Harakian airfields to refuel. The fleet itself would take some time to get to its destination even cruising at 30 knots every hour, and these bombers, combined with long range ICBMs, would make the first strike. The second strike would come in the form of more bombers, and more missiles launched from Harakian submarines, taking shifts in groups of ten to thirteen in international waters off the coast of Eralineta. They had been moving into place for weeks.

The invasion fleet itself was large but fairly spread out, with the transports evenly distributed between their escorting ships in case of an orbital or nuclear attack. Harakian anti-aircraft and missile cruisers outfitted with anti-ballistic missile and anti-satellite missiles composed a good portion of the transports' and larger ships' escorts, and a permanent combat air patrol of hundreds of planes, including some equipped for high-altitude, sup-orbital engagement against high-altitude bombers, and some equipped with anti-missile weaponry, protected the fleet from the sky. Far above it, Harakian and other Gholgoothan satellites watched over it and its approaches, performed reconnaissance on Eralineta, and operators on the ground prepared themselves to take out any satellites readying themselves for an attack on the fleet, by any means necessary.

Admiral Steven Tyrell, onboard the flagship of the Third Fleet, had assembled a mighty naval force, worthy of the banner of Gholgoth. Other smaller Harakian fleets continued converging on his position and merging themselves with his fleet, and by the time it exited Gholgothan waters it would have swelled significantly, no less because it was due to rendezvous with the entire Sigman naval force being sent for the invasion of Eralineta.

All ships taking part in the invasion of Eralineta, form up on me, was the simple message from Tyrell. It was transmitted along with co-ordinates of the designated meeting place, some scant dozen miles east of the Freekian and Panteran archipelagos.

There would be less than a day's wait for the other fleets, already in transit, to arrive, and then the Gholgothan armada would make its way quickly to Eralineta. By that time it would already be under assault.

OOC: I sent a TG to Eralineta maybe a week ago roughly detailing Gholgoth's plans and telling him if he had any questions or concerns to TG me back. I received no such TG, so the thread went ahead.

This thread is, in some ways, a continuation, or rather parallel series of, this thread (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=523578). Its also related to a bunch of others, but less closely.

30 miles out of Port SO

The Sigman battlefleets were en route to their meeting place with the other Gholgothan fleets. Each ship, black and red in the Sigman colors, contrasted sharply with the blues and greens of the ocean. Once they had linked up with their allies, a massive fleet of varrying colors and nationalities would depart under one banner, that of Gholgoth.

The Sigmans, though a brutal and warlike people, were absolutely opposed to slavery. They believe in the rights of all people, and would only deny these rights to their enemies. Eralineta and the other nations of the world who held slaves would soon feel Sigman wrath.

"Unless of course they surrender." Brigand had been thinking alot since stepping aboard the War. Water made him uneasy, he was a footslogger, not accustomed to the rocking of a ship.

"I can only hope that in the face of a combined Gholgothan force, they would not fight against us. It would be suicide." Bett's thoughts were very much like Brigands, both of them knew what a Gholgothan armada could do to a nation.

The fleet continued on, only several more hours remained until they linked with their allies and they went on their way to either a victory by surrender or a victory by slaughter.

Back in Port SO

The SOET and SOHAI had been waiting the call to embark for quite a while. They all knew it would not come until the armada was a certain distance from their target, but they were becoming impatient.

They would come in before the main attack and attempt to cripple their target nation's defenses and provide an easy passage for the main force. Of course, that's how it is supposed to work, but plans like this always had a way of going awry.

They would improvise in that case. It's what they do.

OOC: Vrak, simplest answer I can give you is this: There are in existence two 'parallel versions' of Haraki. One is rudimentary FT, and is in the APN and not in Gholgoth. It is also far in the future. The other is MT-PMT, the APN is irrelevant/doesn't exist, and is in Gholgoth. Truly, the lines are sort of blurred, especially since I use some of the same characters in both, but essentially Haraki's membership in these two alliances is a bizarre thing, and makes the two of them have virtually nothing to do with each other. I keep APN stuff to the APN, and Gholgoth stuff to Gholgoth. I would never, ever involve the APN in an affair to do with Gholgoth, even if my entire nation was being devastated by invaders or something, and I would never ever involve Gholgoth in APN affairs.

And Toori, this is happening on the unnamed and 'infinitely large yet somehow every nation is within real-world range limitations of each other' NS world.

Frank Benlata growled, "THOSE IGNORANT BASTARDS!" A pile of pictures were handed infront of him. A nervous aide gasped and she cried out as Frank slapped her across the face, "You bitch! How dare you tell me that we were being watched now! Things like this are above our squabbles with the others."

Frank growled and pushed the papers of his desk in a blind rage, "I am GOD! How dare these bastards try to oppose ARM."

Muha Jinn sighed as the phone rang once more, at last he growled and picked it up, holding the phone to his ear, "What is it, Benlata?" He knew of the forces stationed off shore, but the only reason he had not acted was that if MOM and ARM had held true to no action it was assumed to be up to Emperor Black. However, Benlata was outraged and his voice was deadly.

"I see. My Oceanus-class ships are on patrol. I'll send word to Emperor Black. Preparations are not needed. Truce? Right."

Emperor Black sat in his chair, surrounded by NESCAL monitors. A voice on speaker phone (clearly Benlata spoke). /Sir, you have to do something/

Emperor Black got up and smiled, "It appears as if we have a bunch of experienced warmongers at our gates. I shall send a message, but if one ship crosses into our 250 mile coastal claim...that's it. I'll have Jinn call Peti and eliminate the naval forces. Ken can take care of their missiles, Ophion's will be needed most likely to take down their attacks should Jinn fail. You will fall back and under your stealth cloaks move into the three beaches and our five seaports. Do not fail me."

The monitors glowed and he smiled, "Steel, iron, explosives....nuclear maybe...It would take only seconds to finish them. Little do they know what weapon the Oceanus has!"

He moved over to his desk, his age was starting to show now, in his late 60's the aging Emperor Black was no longer afraid of death or political enemies, but as if he had prepared for this very day he pulled up a document, pre-written for such a case.

Do you believe that a sinner rapes a thousand saints? Know that I, Emperor Black, will not be pushed around by anyone over the crimes of a single person. I assume that this is over the issue with 'slavery' that came up within our first years. Truely if this is for the old and contested issue over our policy with Llanoran, you are too late. The criminals have long since died of old age or retired, they are within every facet of our military and jurisdiction branches. Military action will only serve to cause unwanted destruction, your silence and actions are strange. I request a diplomatic envoy to Hamark to discuss these matters, refusal of this will mean total war.

We do not want or need, and will not accept, aid from any non-Gholgothan nation, for IC reasons. If we end up needing help for whatever reason, we wouldn't call for people we don't know, but rather for, quite simply, other Gholgothans. Foreign Minister Peter Firth

Although the Gholgothan armada was still on its way, the rest of the preliminary strike force had moved into position effectively, and now took this chance to strike. The goal of this preliminary attack was to test Eralineta's anti-missile defences, and to destroy targets which could conceivably be used either for an attack on the fleet or resistance of Gholgothan superiority on sea and in the air. Thus, Eralineta's fleet and air force within range of the coast were the primary targets. Taking out the forces that would actually oppose a landing would be the job of the fleet.

Harakian ballistic missiles would strike first, tearing out of orbit with conventional warheads, targeting airfields near the targets of the stratobombers, conveniently all within range of the coasts as well. The ballistic missiles were aimed not at destroying individual planes, but rather at destroying the facilities that allowed naval and air forces to operate from Eralineta. They would crater the runways, destroy the air control towers, and strike the hangars and refueling sites. Another group of these were dispatched to Eralineta's main naval bases, with the same goal: destruction of the facilities that allowed Eralineta's navy to operate.

Following up these strikes would come a series of missile strikes by Harakian submarines off the Eralinetan coast. They would rise to the surface, fire their Trebuchet cruise missiles, and descend again. This missile strike was aimed at destroying Eralineta's navy. Thirteen submarines would fire eight missiles each, as well as four traditional cruise missiles from the front torpedo tubes. The Trebuchets would be aimed at the Eralinetan ships, trying to completely disable and sink them. The cruise missiles from the torpedo tubes would be aimed at surviving base facilities at Eralinetan naval bases. Following the launching of their missiles, the submarines would submerge again and make their way back to Harakian bases to rearm their vertical launch tubes.

As the submarines were launching a strike at the Eralinetan navy, the stratobombers would be bombing the airfields near to the coast. They had already been struck by ballistic missiles, and the stratobombers would follow up with a carpet bombing of the entire base, designed to destroy any planes remaining on the ground. The ballistic missiles' job was to ensure they could not take off to challenge the remaining strikes in any way, and the stratobombers' job was to completely eliminate them so they could not even be towed to another base to operate. Together with this, the bombing would devastate the bases themselves, destroying enough that they would most likely be inoperable until long after the Gholgothan armada had arrived, giving the Gholgothans air superiority over the coast from the multitude of carriers present in the fleet.

A final strike would be brought about by another thirteen submarines. They would rise to the surface in a completely different location from the first group, and target their missiles at any remaining targets that had not been effectively destroyed by the first three rounds of strikes. This included all the applicable airfields, naval bases, naval forces, and anything else. Any hidden anti-missile sites or airbases that attempted to challenge the stratobombers or descending missiles would be targeted by these submarines. If none of these targets existed, they would strike any remaining targets that had not been destroyed at the air and naval bases. If nothing remained to be struck, they would target airbases further into the nation. Then they, too, would descend and retreat back to Harakian territory.

Reconnaissance satellites located over Eralinetan territory would report back to Harakian observers the results of every strike. If any target was found to be a waste of time, such as a decoy site or abandoned airbase, any further units assigned to target that site would be redirected to one of the other, definitely real ones.

This strike was but a taste of what was to come. More strikes would follow, even before the Harakian-Octavan armada reached the Eralinetan coastline. But this would give them an idea of what fighting Gholgoth was. Even at such a distance, the long arm of Gholgoth could be felt.

MAM HQ (Naval Base)

As the missiles approached the radar tracked the missiles, as they got within 20 Km the missiles suddenly vanished from the radar in time with several quick pulses from the ground-based LRLW protecting the Headquarters and shipyard. Such a key defense being targetted so early was to be expected, but the same protection would not be granted often as the trump card had already been played by MAM in the initial stages of battle!

The torpedos by the submarines were met with grim surprise as they fired their positions were known, but without a means to respond for the moment. The torpedos hit netting surrounding the MAM shipyard and exploded harmlessly, but the steel walls were being fractured and broke in a few places after the first attack. Assistance was called in immediately, but they had no way to deal with a submarine threat. An artillery bombardment came from ARM to the assumed position raining down a volley of 450 high explosive long fuse shells that mimiked depth charges. They spread one for each 300m until a tight 10 km radius had sunk into the shallow coastal waters and exploded in a timed unison in one huge explosion, hoping to get the cowards below.

-----
Commericial docks 1-5.

The docks have been destroyed. No means to protect themselves. Twelve heavy cargo ships and 20 smaller boats were destroyed in this attack. The docks have been broken into floating pieces. Oil pours into the water and threatens to burn. Loss of life to civilians unknown, but presumed high. Economical damage - Crippling.

-----------------

Ragnarok base (Decoy + Real)

The Ragnarok base remained silent as the missiles approached, and then to the secondary base of MOM launched a quick few pulses at missiles within a 15 km range of the field. However the base was spread over 50 km from one side to the other and several decoy hangars and hollow buildings were struck with awesome power and exploded into nothingness. In the attack a communications tower outside of the field of protection was hit, crippling Ragnarok's aerial grid and opening a 15 km path in which B2/F-22 stealth planes could literally fly over the base through a hole punched into the radar grid. Anti-air defenses did not fire or even emerge from the ground, either because they were decoys or because the missiles were too hard to intercept. The guns had failed do to the high angle of interception that had mimicked shelling.

Several missiles managed to get through to the outskirted runways and punched through 5 fake runways, dotting them and making them unusuable even as decoys. The decoy planes nearby were blown over and some caught fire only to burn up in a black cloud of smoke. The area protected by the Ragnarok base showed 3 usable air runways. While fueling depots and 3 runways remained safe, MOM Corp did not expect such a trick.

MOM Corp Primary Base

The LRLW did not operate at the main base do to poor checks on the system and it was unable to intercept the missiles. The much smaller MOM corp headquarters was poorly shieled and stood little chance.
------------
ARM HQ in Hamark

The city of Hamark was heavily defended by the LRLWs and never fired a shot at a missile that entered the range of MOM or MAM. (Too far inland). No losses.

ARM 2nd HQ

Not targeted. No LRLW was fired.
--------------

Response to Aerial Attack on MAM.

The LRLW saw the Statobombers enter range, now was the opportunity for MAM to strike. They had long been seen on radar and several high-altitude missiles shot up at them, ultimately they suffered a mere 50% interception rate even without countermeasures.

MAM's Headquarters used the LRLW to easily destroy the small arsenal of bombs targeting it as they came into range one after another. As long as the communication systems and power held the LRLW would be a pesky foe even for heavy groupings.

Though as if a passing glance to the bombers if they entered the 20 Km range, they surely would have been in the target of the LRLW and would take several pulses of the 21 individual 48 KW laser blasts designed to punch through an enemy missile or vehicle quickly.

(Unless you were doing insane amounts of cluster spray and pray drops (I assume tactical and smart bomb weaponry) I take no damage to the Headquarters. I only have one naval yard, and its a meager 2 Oceanus a year produced)
-------
MOM's Ragnarok Base

As the planes flew over the coast the FA-1B's took off from the base, 3 squadrons of 10 planes each. Readying Ophion Type 2 (Air to Air) missiles they quickly accelerated to Mach 2.1 with their afterburners to intercept the bombers. As they sped in at breakneck speed they tried to intercept them at 20 Km and fire the Ophion missiles which would deliver a 200 kg warhead into the bombers at Mach 1.6.

(If they get through post and continue your drop in the post)

MOM's HQ

50 FAF-8's took off to follow in the lead of the Ragnarok base. Flying at a speed of Mach 1.5 with afterburners they two tried to intercept the high altitude bombers and fire their twin Ophion Type 2 (Air to Air) missiles carrying the same 200 kg warhead into the bombers. The missiles flew at a speed of Mach 1.6.

ARM's response to action

Benlata laughed as he watched a pesky satellite come over Eralineta, he personally pressed the button and a rocket burst forth from the trees on what appeared to be a Scud Launcher. The rocket was clearly a small ICBM, but it housed untested, but advanced combat systems to run it into the satellite a kill vehicle. Just for good measure Benlata launched 5 for each satellite that passed over Eralineta (unless it was more then 50 satellites).

This bold technology was Eralineta's response to spy satellites that ultimately gave the enemy too much knowledge of their movements. Benlata laughed as the rocket trails flew into the sky on a course clear away from the fleet and up towards the satellites.

The armed forced of ARM did not move from their positions or at all, but this is not a foolish action in Benlata's eyes. For the enemy still had their eyes.

Haraki
13-04-2007, 06:15
Even as the Eralinetan anti-satellite missiles launched, they were targeted and countered by Harakian weaponry. The satellites were only being moved over Eralinetan territory in groups: one small satellite for reconnaissance and image taking, one larger satellite for counter-battery fire, and two weapons satellites. So far, only two groups were active.

As the anti-satellite missiles launched into the air, the counter-battery satellite swung into action. Located in a lower orbit than the others, it mounted several banks of small guided missiles, as well as several other countermeasures. As the Eralinetan missiles streaked up from their silos, the satellite targeted them with its onboard computer, mapped out their trajectories, judged them to be a threat, and responded in kind. For the twenty missiles shot at each satellite group, twenty satellite-launched missiles responded, locking onto the oncoming missiles and streaking for a head-on collision with them, to cause them to detonate prematurely and miss their targets completely.

Eralineta's ace had been revealed long before the armada arrived, and for this the Harakian leaders were grateful. A few planes and much of the initial missile strike was a very small price to pay for satellite images and videos taken of Eralineta's laser weaponry, its locations, and what it could do to oncoming missiles, bombs and shells. It would have to be taken out by something that could not be easily destroyed, otherwise they would only be adding fuel to the fire.

The answer came in the form of the Harakian weapon satellites. Loaded with 4-metre-long, 0.4-metre-thick guided tungsten 'godrods', they received orders transmitted from the ground and acquired their targets in the blink of an eye. A short period of time was taken manoeuvring them into proper firing position, but all too soon they were ready to fire down at Eralineta's laser defences. All known MAM LRLWs were to be targeted, with the exception of those onboard the destroyers. Within fairly short order, surgical strikes composed of computer-guided godrods dropped from the Harakian weapons satellites, slipping into the atmosphere directly towards all the LRLWs that had revealed themselves by taking action against the initial Harakian strike.

Also launched from the weapons satellite over the shipyard was another orbital weapon, this time directed towards the Eralinetan fleet. Dropping from the sky was a large thermobaric weapon encased in tungsten. The tungsten would not only help it survive re-entry unharmed, but shield it from the lasers in question. As it came into range of the Eralinetan fleet above it, the tungsten casing would detach itself and its interior, packed with extremely high pressure aerosol fuel, would rapidly disperse into the atmosphere surrounding the ships. The detonator, also encased in tungsten, would then shed its protective casing and explode, igniting the entire cloud which, given its rapid expansion into the air combined with the small charge within it to spread the fuel out, would disperse very quickly, and likely surround all, or if not most, of the Eralinetan fleet.

The Eralinetans had made a grave mistake in revealing their laser weaponry so early in the game. It allowed too much time for Gholgothan forces to counter it, in this case in the form of an orbital counterstrike.

The Crown Prince spat on the cold hard cement floor of his balcony, hand resting against sabre. The wind billowed around him rippling his red-bear cloak about. He placed his palms upon the marble railings, shifting his weight forwards. He sighed and dropped his head.
"So. Perhaps gentleman it is time to show Gholgoth who the real naval power is in this alliance."

Lord General Norman D'Arcy stepped forward from the interior of the office. "How do you mean my prince? Surely this is not our fight." The man's voice was deep and full of experience. The Prince and the Lord General had fought many a war together.
"No. It isn't our fight. To be honest, I can't really say I care about this whole anti-slavery campaign. But, Gholgoth cannot appear weak. We must crush all opposition, and this means Eralineta. Understand? If Haraki or Sigma suffer even minimal losses it will be an embarrassement. Sergi, I need your services."

It was the Lord Admiral's turn to step forward. He was the man who headed the proud Artitsan navy, spearheading several design initiatives such as the SSN-991, and half a dozen SuperDreadnoughts. Sergi Putamov; one of the most revered men in the Artitsan Military next to the famed Field Marshall Crocop.
"What is it that you need, my Crown Prince?" his voice commanded obedience, and had the presense of a man far larger.

"Sergi... I need you to make ready the Grey Fleet for sail to Eralineta. You are to end this conflict as quickly as possible. You will have assistance from Lord Marshall Beautrix as I am sure you may require the use of our space resources. That is all gentleman. You are excused."

The Crown prince reached within his cloak, his hand returning with a large cigar. He placed it between his lips and struck a match.

It was an excellent time for the orders to come through. Several days later, Lord Admiral Sergi Putamov had arrived by helicopter to his Flag ship of the Grey Fleet. They had made port at Fang Bay. The massive fleet had to be put up in three different harbour cities surrounding Fang Bay. For the next few weeks Surgkuta, Khabarovsk, and Skovograd would play host for the fleet.

The fleet had actually returned to Fang Bay as an end to a touring campaign, showing the flag at ports in Automagfreek, Pantera, Sigma Octavius, and several other Gholgoth allies. On the return leg of the journey the fleet had stopped in at Gavinhood and Blanistov, before hitting the ring of cities around the Green Sea such as Fanksgrad, Saratov, Hamdervansk, and Alumankask. Obviously they were quite tired. Thus the sailors and crew had been aloted two weeks R&R in the Fang Island chain. Even with the orders coming down from the Crown Prince himself, their leave would not be toyed with. A happy soldier was an efficient and effective soldier. Two weeks the fleet would set out, and in four, Eralineta would be burning.

For now, the Lord Admiral would ready six more 'Lancer' fleets, should they be required to prevent intervention.

OOC: Seeing as Haraki involved the whole alliance over this matter which does not exist this RP is on hold until the issue is resolved. While I can understand Haraki (and only Haraki's war) from the mocking of Emperor Black and ARM's Benlata, I see no reason to continue the RP against a misconception that is blatently wrongful.

1. Eralineta does not do slavery. We are part of the Anti-Slavery Alliance. Our ability to search for this is open and we do not have any evidence to approve of a claim of slavery or anything besides working our workers under a tough capitalist system. Slavery is not part of Eralineta. All those here under this term should leave the RP.

2. Eralineta is MT. Thus the existance of Scramjet missiles (Artitsa) and anti-ICBM and near instanteous god-rods are not allowed. Space bombardment with fuel-air bombs and other sorts are not MT and are not even possible, much less to be done without any response. Until this matter is resolved Haraki's posts go ignored until solved in the OOC thread.
