The Northern Baltic proudly announces the need for the construction of a modern, multirole ship. This ship must be about the size of a Kirov Battlecruiser and must sport heavy weaponry to take out much larger ships. It also must be able to combine speed, firepower, and armor well. The winner of this contract will be rewarded with the immediate request and payment for 50 Longboat Class ships. At least 20 of which must be built in one of the Northern Baltic's shipyards. The winner of this contract will also be rewarded with $1,000,000,000 in cash. The price of each ship must be included with each entry. More then one entry per nation is allowed. A picture is requested, but not required.

We can offer you our Bergstein Class Light Frigate (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=12331908&postcount=41), it was designed for hit and run tactics against bigger ships, thus, it relies in it's speed and manuaverability to outrun it's foes.

The Redmption Class is more expensive at $55 000 000 but it houses alot heavier weapons.

The Revival is fast and agile to outrun and hit enemy light and supply vessels hard. It costs around $38 000 000

PBN-Longboat-X Class Pocket Battleship Proposal

A powerful multirole Pocket Battleship designed to face all modern threats, whether it is swarms of Torpedo boats, or lesser capital ships. It is designed to be able to outsmart its enemies and outgun, torpedo, missile, and anything in between.

Propulsion System

This proposed ship uses a revolutionary new form of propulsion that is being introduced on the 2027 Refits of all new Leafanistani Ships. Instead of using finicky propeller shafts, it uses a series of scoops in the front to pick up incoming seawater. It then puts them through a series of metal plates which ionizes the water, then magnets to propel them out the back. This creates a rather silent, non mechanical waterjet, that is capable of reducing shipwake by at least 20%.

Stealth System

Above the thick composite armor, is a layer of plastic that absorbs RADAR and takes in input from a series of cameras on top of the ship to take in sky color. To the human eye, it interprets it as sky. The plastic layer is assembled by a new process called M13 Bacteriophage Assembly which uses genetically altered M13 Phages to grab onto various different compounds. It is easier to assemble and faster to make all the components.

Armament System

The proposed ship has probably the most interesting combination of weapons designed. There is a triple 12" ETC cannon to take care of big threats such as other battleships or even the dreaded dreadnought. It also carries a dual 140mm ETC Automatic Cannon to shred smaller ships. The side mounted dual 40mm ETC Autocannons will take care of torpedo boats or even helicopters. The missile system, uses the Russian Cold Launch Revolving VLS to support massive amounts of missiles.

The rockets on the antisubmarine armament, complement the contact mortars which are far more effective than traditional depth charges as they don't cloud SONAR if they miss.

The oddly mounted torpedoes, ensure 3 directions of firing covering 230 degrees around the ship. The unusual caliber is to maintain the caliber used by the USSNB Navy.

Defense System

The inaccuracy of the Phalanx, Goalkeeper and other similar CIWS systems are well known and it requires a new weapon to throw at the enemy ship. The new RIM-116 RAM upgraded to the HAS standard is capable of extreme close range engagement of missiles, helicopters, aircraft and fast moving surface ships.

Augmented with smoke and chaff launchers, it can distract and confuse enemy missiles. Its RADAR absorbent sides can easily mask its signature from older antiquated antishipping missiles.

Aircraft

A below deck hanger can hold and maintain up to 3 helicopters or small VTOL aircraft. UAVs/UCAVs may be launched from this platform.

OOC: There is no way this is 40 million, nor 55 million, nor any other million dollar price unless it is a hair under a billion . At that hull weight, and length, it should already be 70 million for the hull itself. Combined with all that technology, and at this price, it has to be surplus or something because you really want to dispose of these. These prices are ridiculous. I think me and TWSP are the only ones who aren't trying to bankrupt ourselves.

As for TWSP, he wants something close to a Battlecruiser or Pocket Battleship that can deal with any sort of threat. We all know that the Battlecruiser concept as the British envisioned it was easily ruptured by a single German Battleship, speed as armor doesn't work even against biplanes and mechanically operated.

Though as a frigate, (I prefer to call it a light destroyer because of its length), I think your design is sound as a major combatant for smaller navies.

Meanwhile, the Northern Baltic Merchent Marine Corps has just recently put a contract up for the creation of a cargo escort vessel. We award this contract to The World Soviet Party. An order for 100 Bergstein Class vessels has been placed with The World Soviet Party. 30 of these vessels must be built in one of the Northern Baltic's numerous shipyards. $50,000,000,000 has been provided to TWSP as well as an extra $25,000,000 for winning the contract. $10,000,000 has been provided to the other entries of the contest.

OOC: The first delivery will be in a few months. I'm actually producing the same thing with a very long 280mm Gun for the Leafanistani Navy, oh and the armor composition is different with mine. So the hulls are already being produced, that is why I have a hull picture.

It is nice to legitimately sell things for once eh?

So, I was thinking of selling this as the Longboat-E with a thinner hull, downgraded antiair missiles, no Moskits but C-802s, no RAMs but more Phalanx CIWS guns, and a Seadart turret. Oh and make the nuclear reactor optional for the pissy types.

I can technically call it the major surface combatant of the USSNB's Navy and the Leafanistani Navy.
