OK, I am making this thread where the USA is no more and people can claim states on a first come, first serve basis. We will later make wars with the states. The catch is, no one can pick more than three.

Soooo I hope having small states works out GREAT for you guys.

Suggestion: Why not leave about 15-20 states unclaimed? Sort of like a "post-war wilderness Mad Max thing" where there may be old borders recognized, but it's a situation where roving bands of bandits, warlords, city-states, etc exist. No central gov't. in those states. The wilderness states would also act as a "no man's land" type barrier between the occupied/claimed states.

It could also possibly open up the players to one or two other claimed states.

I claim my home state (Minnesota w00t w00t) along with the cities of Bismark, Fargo, Sioux Falls and Pierre. I also claim the Black Hills as a territory.

Yes, a dmz/unincorporated type situation. No one in control of certain states so the players can move around without fighting a formal state all the time.

True. What about simply creating a few "dead zones" on a map of the USA? Say, the entire length of the Mississippi on both sides of the river, say about 2 miles on either side. Or some other unoccupied areas. For instance, I've claimed New Mexico which has a large desert area. Even though I've claimed it, in reality it would be difficult to police those areas. Lots of possibilities for bandits/rebels etc to hide out there, causing all kinds of trouble. Same with the mountainous areas.

Not really. Look at it this way: Your territory bumps up to the Mississippi dmz. You have no one bordering you who can attack you. AND, now you have all the more reason to fight for your stated claim to the dmz. Could make a really good secondary scenario for you. After all, the object of any thread is to hone your writing abilities. Not to mention the fact that MN borders Canada. That possibility is virtually endless.....

OK, so you have a couple of dams and mills, etc already. RP your conquest/settlement of the others. Take tham away from the warlords that are presently in control of them. Your bigger/stronger that they are. And that still leaves a lot of the Mississippi dmz intact.

I don't think an entire seperate thread is necessary. Just a few paragraphs at the beginning of the IC thread about how the world got to the point it's at. For instance, something like, it's 175 years after the divisive Bush Era, WW IV has been over for about 10 years and the international as well as continental political lines have been re-drawn. Throw in something brief about the chem/bio devastation in Mexico/So. America and Canada, and there you go. Or something along those lines. I've got a pretty thorough scenario in mind. Pretty much touches all bases, but it's not too much info. Just enough to get this thread rolling.

yeah, i am reminded. never played the game, but my frien told me it's about america divided into 5 states. and there are air pirates and stuff. sounded cool.

if you protect me in NJ Wissconsin(don't know the abbreviation) and my other states (exept conn.) then you will be able to house and move through those states with your troops
