General Info

Well, to state the general thing in this thread in that some corporation/government has found this base and seeks to exploit the advanced tech here of their own games and so in turn have gathered a great deal of researchers for the expedition and soldiers under false guises.

So now they are going to Antartica to do some 'reasearch' and the story takes off from here.

Tech/Advantages:

In general the weapons will range from MT, PMT made by the organization, to FT from weapons in the Dark Eternal base.

As for regular crap though humans have to use MT and PMT tech to track the creatures and to see in most of the places at is is pitch black.

On the other hand the creatures are able to quite well naviagate the tunnels and hallways of the base due to their enhanced sight, hearing, and smell.

As well, the creatures are much stronger then any humans and are also a great deal faster and much more sneaky.

On the other hand humans have the advantage of tech for the most part as the creatures are dim-witted, save the most advanced weapons.

Background/Setting Info:

An ancient base that was controlled by the Dark Eternals (name explains itself) and they used the base to create superior soldiers out of the gene polls on Earth. Basically, the Dark Eternals have taken a number of specimens from the most evolved species on the planet in order to create soldiers those possessed a level of intellect that would allow them to handle simple weapons and be obedient to their Dark Eternal masters. What they would generally do the captured specimens was that they would alter their genetics and/or rapidly evolve them in closed spaces.

These experimentally specimens were later put into contained in storage tanks and use their genes to create clones that be put thru further genetic theory and evolution until they reached the perfect states and when they did the Dark Eternals stored the perfect specimens in storage containers and took a large amount of their genetic material in order to create clone armies of them. With their experiments done at the base they left it and wiped out all files on the technologies used and where they had taken the genetic material, but they left all their creations in their storage tanks. Yet, they did release a number of their specimens back onto Earth where they became the sources of many of the monsters legends including the Yeti, Vampires, Centaur, Cremira, and a many different legends across the world.

Generally, the monsters will still vary hugely in appearance due to the sheer number of different experiments the Dark Eternals performed on them. Also, the Dark Eternals did leave the base operational and nearly all of their creations are either still in their storage tanks or have been released into the base. Yet, before the Dark Eternals did leave the information about how to operate the base and on the evolution of the monster in the form of information on their external and internal changes after each experiment, sadly they did not leave any of their more powerful weapons behind and any information of the regarding the weakness of the creatures.

Now a secret power has organized dozens of the finest soldiers within humanity to investigate a find that they have made deep in the below the ice mountains in Antarctica after using radar to probe the bottom and identified a large metal structure below the surface. So after digging a deep tunnel they have expeditions below which all have been lost so far. To recover the lost teams and to clear the base they have now sent their own battalion below to clear the base in order to seize what technologies they could.

Although he was hotheaded and, at times, arrogant and foolhardy he always showed promise and his commanding officer continually praised him. Everyone had high hopes of him. He shortly came to the attention of the SAS, who enlisted him as a pilot but also trained him as a sabatuer-come-stealth unit member. Despite his arrogant nature things went well to him, until he got into and argument with a senior officer who, after Lee had dragged an unconsious man from his unit back to base, said that Lee should have left the man behind, as it jeapordised the rest of the unit due to their slow pace. Lee lost his temper and hit the officer, finding himself dishonourably discharged. He then became a mercenary for two years, using his special training to lethal effect until he accepted his current assignment.

Name: Sentinel Keepers
Number: Unknown, see below for more detail.

Physical Description: Originally styled by the Dark Eternals to possess the head of a lion and body of a man, the Sentinel Keepers have passed into Egyptian Legends as Anubis, the God of the Dead. They stand taller than humans, but are slim and athletic, possessing bunched, wiry muscles on the shoulders and arms.
Powers: Sentinel Keepers possess superior senses of smell and hearing, although their vision is slightly worse than that of a human. They can move quickly when roused and can climb skillfully and quickly.
Bio: Like the Sphinxes of Egyptian lore, the Sentinel Keepers were created by the Dark Eternals as Guardians of the Antarctic base. While they do not have the incredible speed and strength or the genetic weaponry that the Eternals bestowed on their later creations the Sentinels do have the ability to operate some of the Eternal's larger weapons in order to fulfill their defensive role.
Likely tactics: Sentinels are largely defensive creatures, sluggish and dumb unless disturbed by human or other mutant intruders. They were used by the Eternals to guard different areas within the base, as well as the entrances and as such they may be the first to come into contact with the company's battalion as it moves into the base. Powerful Dark Eternals may also have employed the largest and smartest Sentinel Keepers as bodyguards or to defend their quarters, if these Sentinels remain in the base then they will likely be in some kind of command of their kind.

Plague Beetles
Strain: Gravtek 4335annd3rrz
Height: 2 inches
Length: 4 inches
Eyes: red, glowing, segmented
description: these were created by Graevus to be fired from the bio weapons of his Haemonculi (see below). they are oversized beetles that rest within the clips of the Haemonculi's Fleshborer weapons, when stimulated by a bio-electric charge, they fly out of the barrel as fast as a normal bullet, and eat their way through all sorts of normally insurpassable materials until their life force is expended (this takes 5 seconds once the Charge has been given) they also carry a potent neurotoxin, so even nonlethal hits may turn into more lethal ones over time.

Haemonculi

Description: haemonculi are 6 limbed quadrupeds that travel on four of their limbs, whilst carrying a fleshborer in the two front ones. they have a carapace on their backs and down the front of their head. they have large jaws which drip with venom. their tongues end in sharp barbs. Haemonculi can move very fast.

Description: melee soldiers created by Graevus, these blackened skeletons move utilizing muscles that are actually inside their exoskeletons. they bear close resemblance to human skeletons that have been blackened with fire, and they always bear a venomous sword as well as a rusting pitted Greek-style helmet atop their skeletal heads. they act as meat shields for the Haemonclui, giving them time to get into position to bring their Fleshborers to bear. however, they are slow moving.

Description: these are living weapons created by Graevus to be used by Haemonculi(see above). they are stimulated by a small bio-electric charge issued by the Haemonculi's front claws, which actually grow into the flesh of the Fleshborer. they carry "clips" of three-hundred Plague beetles, and can unload the whole clip by means of delivering larger bio-electric charges (if spraying) in ten seconds. they have no means of propulsion, and they have just enough intelligence to fire fleshborers when commanded.

Nausea: it is able to invoke nausea and disorientation amongst foes
Affliction: it is able to bestow a particularly choice contagion upon a target
Miasma of Pestilence: calls forth clouds of pestilent flies and choking gasses. however, these travel towards their target slowly, giving plenty of time for escape.
Aura of Decay: is surrounded by an aura of corruption and filth to such an extent that enemies have difficulties hitting him with melee weapons.
Graevus also carries a massive sword dripping with poisonous puss.
Bio: Strain 82654xxbSub:334 was created by Biogen laboratories as a biological weapon. their height was supposed to be 5 feet, and they looked normal, except they constantly had one sickness or another. they were a host to every disease known by science, and several thousand more, but they were quite resistant to their effects. eventually, several of them overpowered their guards and broke free. Graevus, as it calls itself, quickly devoured the others upon escape. under the effects of it's contagion, it has continued to uncontrollably mutate until it eventually reached it's current state.

Powers: Sentinel Keepers possess superior senses of smell and hearing, although their vision is slightly worse than that of a human. They can move quickly when roused and can climb skillfully and quickly.
Bio: Like the Sphinxes of Egyptian lore, the Sentinel Keepers were created by the Dark Eternals as Guardians of the Antarctic base. While they do not have the incredible speed and strength or the genetic weaponry that the Eternals bestowed on their later creations the Sentinels do have the ability to operate some of the Eternal's larger weapons in order to fulfill their defensive role.
Likely tactics: Sentinels are largely defensive creatures, sluggish and dumb unless disturbed by human or other mutant intruders. They were used by the Eternals to guard different areas within the base, as well as the entrances and as such they may be the first to come into contact with the company's battalion as it moves into the base. Powerful Dark Eternals may also have employed the largest and smartest Sentinel Keepers as bodyguards or to defend their quarters, if these Sentinels remain in the base then they will likely be in some kind of command of their kind.

Bio: Lee was born to two Royal Air Force pilots and was raised in an air base in northern England. for most of his youth he was raised around aeroplanes and weapons and at the age of seventeen, he enlisted in the Royal Air force. Although he was hotheaded and, at times, arrogant and foolhardy he always showed promise and his commanding officer continually praised him. Everyone had high hopes of him. He shortly came to the attention of the SAS, who enlisted him as a pilot but also trained him as a sabatuer-come-stealth unit member. Despite his arrogant nature things went well to him, until he got into and argument with a senior officer who, after Lee had dragged an unconsious man from his unit back to base, said that Lee should have left the man behind, as it jeapordised the rest of the unit due to their slow pace. Lee lost his temper and hit the officer, finding himself dishonourably discharged. Despite this they do not take active roles in battle and only really watch and manipulate as they are both held back by the oppoisng side.

To note as well the main Dark Eternal empire was the only thing that fell and now their are hundreds of lesser Dark Eternal kingdoms which might have formed an alliance with your people.

A little help for Naasha about his Sentinel Keepers. They are cool sounding, but Anubis didn’t have the head of a lion. He had the head of a jackal. So, in Egyptian Legends, they would be seen as Anubis. I don’t of a lion head Egyptian myth, the only one I can think of is the Sphinx.

Of course swarms silly:p , and the players can either control a swarm, maybe with a special leader, or a signal 'super' mutant if you would wish to.

I was planning on having a swarm (although they work individually!) of mine, with perhaps a special leader if there aren't enough mutant players to provide suitable big-nasties.

Eyes: red, glowing, segmented
description: these were created by Graevus to be fired from the bio weapons of his Haemonculi (see below). they are oversized beetles that rest within the clips of the Haemonculi's Fleshborer weapons, when stimulated by a bio-electric charge, they fly out of the barrel as fast as a normal bullet, and eat their way through all sorts of normally insurpassable materials until their life force is expended (this takes 5 seconds once the Charge has been given) they also carry a potent neurotoxin, so even nonlethal hits may turn into more lethal ones over time.
