Easter in <your nation>
(How is your nation celebrating Easter Sunday, the most holliest day of the year?)
Jim Hillard was fixing his tie, as well as helping his sons with their ties. Billy though was an expert at tying. Melanie was combing the hair of her sons. "Stop fidgeting Tommy. Rachel their oldest daughter came with her sisters. All the girls were dressed up in their absolute best. "Oh Lexy, Hannah, Rachel don't you all look so pretty." Melanie said in awe. Although they were a regularly church going family they usually never dressed in their absolute best. "Let's go we don't want to be late." Jim said
"Right, let's go." They all cramed into their van and drove off to Chruch. They attentivley listend to their pastor speak of the holiday and it's traditions, and the miracle of Christ's sacrafice for his fellow man, and how they should always be willing to make sacrafices for their freinds and neighbors. After the service they chatted with everyone, and eventually went home to enjoy their Easter Dinner.

Mike Hogan sat in the pew he'd been sitting in for years. Every Easter, he was told, he should dress in the best clothes he had, go to church, sing, listen, and be happy. After all, it was the celebration of the ressurection of the Savior. What's not to celebrtate?
But this time, things were different for Mike. Something had changed. Maybe it was a book. Maybe it was somebody he had talked to since last year. No one really could put their finger on it. But today, Mike sang the songs, such as, "Amazing Love," "I Will Not Be Silent," and "Holy Is The Lord," at the top of his lungs. His voice resounded throughout the walls of the House of God.
"I'm alive and well, your spirit lives within me, because you died and rose again...," Mike nearly yelled as his smile widened.
Because today, it all made sense. Death did not win. It wasn't the end. It was the beginning.

Easter this year is falling during theOka Festival (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=523160) with the blooming of the Cherry Blossoms.
_____
Being Christian is a pretty rare thing full of Magic People. Most Christians look down upon thoes that practice witchcraft and wizadry but there are a few. One was a young mother and her little girl. Tonight was the festival and it's tradition to go so they figure might as well offer up their sacrafices to the lord before going. "Kyoko light the candel."
Kyoko used her small staff to light fire.
"No sweetheart, light with the other candel."
"Okay."
Kyoko took the other candal and lit the first one. "Why can't I use my magic ma'ma?"
"It shows the lord we are humble and thankful to him and his sacrafice. We too must sacrafice for the day. That means we should not use our power."
"Yuki, Kyo how good to see you this morning."
"Hello Reverand. Are you going to the festival tonight?"
"Well I think I might. After all, just like this day is to celebrate the rebirth of our lord the festival is to celbrate the blooming of the Cherry Blossoms."
"Well it would be nice to see you Reverand. Me and Kyo will be going."
"Well just make sure you give thanks to the Lord tonight."
"Certianlly."
She bowed and left the church with her daughter.

Excerpt: Internal Memorandum: The Chief Executive Panel (1998)
Representative Functionary of the Bautizaran Corporations and People
(Incorporated 1911)
... Among the more puzzling references amongst the many communications intercepted from lowland regions is a repeated reference to a holiday known as 'Easter.' While the thought of a widespread belief in an animal species going around putting out multi-colored eggs for citizens to find is amusing, the Chief Executive Panel (CEP) has recently seen very convincing evidence against the introduction of such a holiday to Bautizaran society.
First and foremost was the fact that this holiday would not originate from within Bautizaran society. If this holiday were to have been conceived at the lower levels of a State corporation, had been cleared and approved by the appropriate supervisors, managers and steering committees to the executive board level, and had then been presented to the CEP, it is believed that the motion would have been met with a 12.5 - 25.0% favorable opinion. However, the undeniable fact remains that it would have been considered by the Panel as a Bautizaran ideology, not one originating from an outside world that has rarely been seen by our citizens.
Secondly is the unacceptable loss of productivity. With the average worker currently maintaining a 72-hour work week, the idea of receiving a full 24 hours off in addition to the one already allotted is believed to be society-destabilizing event that should be considered extremely carefully. All citizens are trained and carefully groomed for the idea of working for the State while the State works for its citizens, and the notion of citizens suddenly taking time off to serve a purpose other than contribution to their society is ludicrous and incredibly selfish.
It is for these reasons that the holiday designated as 'Easter' in intercepted communications is noted, and the trials of six workers accused of attempting to spread thought of this day being granted to all workers (thus spreading a criminal ideology categorized as a society-destabilizing event) is hereby ordered to proceed. By a unanimous 8-0 vote of the Board of Directors of the Chief Executive Panel, with representatives of the eight corporations present and voting, the defendants are hereby remanded to custody of the Aurora Dynamics Corporation for justice as seen fit by the corporation and its senior management ...
[[OOC: Yes, by Western standards it's ludicrous and just about insane as possible, the thought of six workers on trial for trying to spread knowledge of Easter. But consider it from the State's perspective: the information in the factbook should help.]]

Christian woke early. It was Easter Sunday the most holy day of Catholics and Christians everywhere. This would be especially evident in Kurona, which has a very large religious population. Even the Shinto half have formed their own Easter traditions by visiting their shrines and spending time with family. Easter of course was a federal holiday all business would be closed. She began fixing breakfast for her self and her two children. Once she finished she woke up her daughter Caley first. "Morning sweetheart, will you get your brother up and come to breakfast?"
"Sure." She said sleeply. Christina gave her a kiss and walked out. Pretty soon both Caley and her brother Sam came into the kitchen and sat down at the tabel. Christina gave her two children a kiss asked them if they slept well. They nealed their heads for prayer
"Our Lord, we thank thee for the food we are about to recive and we ask that it may nourish our bodies. We remember you this holy day and we ask that we may attend mass this morning in safety and with little trouble. We ask that you look over our freinds and neighbors as they worship you on this Holy Sunday. In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost amen."
they eached crossed themselves and ate away. It wasn't long before they dressed in their best. Each wearing a conservative black. It was Sunny and suprisngly warm for this time of year. They hopped on the wagon and headed off into town to attend their mass service.
They listend attentivley to the words of the preists who told of the great sacrafice of Christ and mostly that.
"Christ sacraficed himself that you may be forgiven of your sins...."
Sam occasionally nearly dozed off but Caley kept him awake. Once serivice was over they left for home to enjoy the rest of the day. They talked to their freinds breifly before so. "That was nice sermon Father."
"Well thank you, now you have a wonderful day and remember."
In Siriusa, it is a popular past time for one to identify all of the neighbors who will be going out of town for the holiday. Then, one runs to the local supermarket and buys as many peeps as possible. Once the purchase has been made, said person goes to the neighbors' currently vacant house(s) and proceeds to "peep" it. The purpose is to put peeps in the most obnoxious places (i.e., doorbell, window, birdbath, a line along the roof, etc.) to give the neighbor a "pleasant" surprise when they return home.
Higher class neighborhoods usually sniff disdainfully at this behavior, but the next morning they usually find that they had been peeped in the night.

Subantarctic Islands

Extract from the Lonesome Planet guide to the Confederacy of Subantarctic Islands:
"Easter, with other Christian festivals, is celebrated with enthusiasm throughout these barren islands. The only national holidays more enthusiastically persued is National Penguin Day (March 5th) and Confederacy Day (May 25th). The traditional celebrations vary between islands. The people of South Georgia take great joy in rolling albatross eggs down mountain slopes and a feast of seal meat and various cooked birds is enjoyed within family homes during the evening. Kerguelen on the other hand traditionally fast throughout the easter weekend as a mark of respect, with only the very young, the very old and the sick failing to take part in the event. The people's of the South Sandwhich Islands perhaps have the most unusual way of marking the event of all, whereby the begin the morning with a swim in the freezing waters of the South Atlantic followed by a naked run around the Islands. The event is somewhat an excuse to party, and the moss-wine does tend to flow freely throughout the Confederacy.

While many other countries celebrated Easter, or at the very least some kind of spring holiday, Gorkon was silent. The island was in the midst of winter, which for Gorkon meant eternal darkness for six months, with no relief from the bitter cold or the falling snow. The blackened, Gothic spires of the frozen cities were the only sources of light for these cold and decidedly pale people, who had to make sure that illumination was a top priority in such a dark place.
The closest equivalent holiday came at the end of winter, when the eternal darkness was swapped for eternal daylight, and the freezing temperatures - though still freezing - became a little more tolerable. The holiday began at the first sign of natural light, and massive carnivals took to the streets to welcome their long-lost friend, the sun, back into their lives. People from all around would flood the cities to celebrate the end of some of the harshest winters in the world, braving the cold and the snow to enjoy themselves in natural light for the first time in months. Military parades finished off the occasion, both to stimulate the national pride of the people and to improve the morale of the soldiers, and once it was all over everybody enjoyed a week-long holiday to enjoy the daylight.
But it was April. Winter was not over yet for several months. The people would have to wait for their parade...
In the meantime, though, light bulb manufacturers were in full bloom.
