Bautizar Defense Corporation
First Line of Defense of the Corporate Police State of Bautizar
(Incorporated 1912)

The Bautizar Defense Corporation is seeking bids to meet the following design parameters for a new class of rigid airship:

1. Serve as a frontline support and equipment-transport vehicle in times of war and emergencies.
1a. Vehicle storage capacity to meet or exceed 380,000 square feet.
1b. Troop capacity to meet or exceed 1,300 combat-ready personnel.
1c. Maximum sustainable airspeed to meet or exceed 225 miles per hour.

2. Defensive systems capable of providing point defense against most incoming missile/non-missile threats, excepting overwhelming attacks.

3. Provide non-critical functions such as transport of personnel and cargo when necessary, and extended aid.

4. Provide a mobile platform for testing and implement of mission-specific or new technology of any kind.

5. Cost per unit to not exceed $5.3 billion/apiece.

Twelve (12) units of the winning design will be ordered immediately upon the determination of a successful entry, although current projections envision a total of twenty (20) in service within the next ten years (NS time). Project proposals may be submitted until midnight (U.S. EST) on Saturday, April 14th 2007, following which an evaluation will be begun to determine the best candidate to fulfill the requirements of the Bautizar Defense Corporation.

[[Speaking OOC: Yes people, for those of you who're so inclined as to design ships and technology, I hope you'll be tempted to pull on those thinking caps. This is technically a feasible project for MT/early PMT technology: I'll note for the record that the vehicle requirements are the same as the Bob Hope class equipment pre-positioning transport in current use by the U.S. Military Sealift Command. The troop requirement is based on the foreseen necessity of this rigid airship.

This vessel will form a pivotal role in Bautizar's order of battle, as will be seen in the future on the NS Forums. Because the State is landlocked and doesn't have water access (plus it has such a long history with airships), this ship will be front-and-center in the event that I have to hustle troops and equipment somewhere. Finally, good luck to those of you who decide to participate in this.]]

Phoenix Dynamix has a long history of airship design and construction and will enter a bid shortly

OOC: I will be making it early PMT era see this link (http://phoenixdynamix.proboards38.com/index.cgi?board=Aircraft&action=display&thread=1148863844) for examples of my airships.

After consultations at the very highest level of the corporation it has been decided to extend the deadline for bids until midnight (EST) on Saturday, April 14th.

..... Vehicle storage capacity 300,000 square feet.
Troop capacity: 1,150-1,250.
Maximum sustainable airspeed:355 miles per hour.
Psi Power Engine Generator
Psi Force Field
Psi Warp Pull Drive
Psi Baloon
Cost: 15 Million NSD

This is a quite unconventionable aircraft combining Protoss psi with a conventional Airship. However, psi is a quite cheap energy due to its very essence and other than that its just a simple airship which makes your purchase MUCH cheaper than you mah have expected. It is to be noted these ARE NOT battle tested and I cannot make any claims for how they will hold up.

The Science and Trade Institute has informed the Bautizar Defense Corporation that it is not familiar with the alleged "Protoss psi" referred to in the communication from the Magnificato Defense Corporation. Therefore, the corporation would appreciate some more information regarding this power source (i.e. does it require fuel, and of what type? if a generator is damaged will the entire airship have to be returned to Magnificato or will the corporation be able to repair it? etc.)

Rigid Cargo Airship
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v293/grunt74/NS1/CargoAirship.gif
The Rigid Cargo Airship, from Phoenix Dynamix is a helium filled, rigid airship designed to deliver large and heavy cargo. The helium is contained in several self-sealing cells which are packed in a kevlar/polymer composite skin which is in turn wrapped around a lightweight foamed titanium alloy skeleton. There is a massive ducted fan mounted in the rear providing extremely high amount of thrust. In addition, two of the world's largest turbofan engines (scaled up versions of the Trojan II's power plant), are mounted on the sides of the great airship, along with two PD-4302 high bypass Turbofan engines and a pear of dual prop, quad bladed rotating (vectoring) turboprop engine. The maximum speed with all of these engines is still only about 300mph but it is still impressive speed for it's size. Should a catastrophe occur the flight crew in the forward gondola can detach. As for the rest of the crew(not including paratroopers), a number of 2 man "escape pods" can eject through the top of the airships skin and then parachute to saftey or they can exit with parachutes from the rear cargo door. The pods float in water and are protected from NBC attacks as well. There is a standard ALR-56S Radar Warning Receiver . If the radar detects incoming missiles, there are a large variety and quantity of counter measures to keep it protected from enemy fire. There are several chaff and flare launchers to defend against missiles. Should the skin of the airship be punctured, up to golf ball sized holes can be self-sealed by a special gel between two membrane layers. In addition to those passive defense there are a number of active defenses as well. Anti-IR missile lasers, point defense missile systems and ECM jammers In addition to the low power anti-ir missile lasers, there is a fully featured THEL Anti-Missile Laser to deal with other threats. Furthermore there is the FCLAS system which can block smaller rockets and missiles, even unguided ones. To deal with threats before they can launch their weapons, the airship features 2 turrets which each carry 3 AIM-57L Super Phoenix Anti-Aircraft Missiles.
Also all on board batteries and fuel-cell systems are supplemented by the solar panels which recharge all systems, in-flight, saving on fuel, and by the way, this airship can be refueled in flight by other airships or tanker aircraft.
