The Wanderjarian Black Crusade Begins....Invasion of Scaveutland

(OOC: This is between me and Scaveutland but if he wants his allies may interevene. Keep in mind that this is merely a bout between real life buddies and for no other real reason than my conquest of him ;))

Deep within the dark corridors and gothic halls of the Blackstone Fortress, a xenos structure created long ago by the ancient and mysterious Eldar as Talismans of Vaul, the Imperial Navy Command staff sat around a large holocron. Admirals, Grand Admirals, Generals of all branches of the Wehrmacht, and even Lord Baker himself watched as the holocron focused on sector of the galaxy: the Scaveutland system. They were a meager people, having once on old Terra been allied to the nation of Wanderjar they were now a rogue peoples whom rejected the riteous authority of the Galactic Empire, and Emperor Palpatine. Lord Baker sat at the head of the table, his black uniform impeccable with incountable campaign ribbons and honors emblazoned across his chest from centuries of battles throughout the galaxy. Suddenly he stood and with a slight smile he focused in on each world, opening a new sector of the massive screen so that each of the six worlds could be identified individually.

"It is good to see you all here," He stated briefly before moving on, "However I would like to merely skip the formalities and move onto my reasoning for bringing you here. It is quite simple really: I believe it is time to bring Scaveutland into the Empire."

"Sir?" Asked Grand Admiral Reinhardt who was Baker's closest advisor, friend, and Warmaster of the Wanderjarian Legions. "Have you requested this from the Emperor?"

"No. It is not truly necessary. They are weak. They have little chance to possibly emerge from this victorious, and they do not realize it is coming. It has been millenia since we have had contact with them, so as far as they are concerned, we don't exist. The Galactic Empire has yet to pressure them into Unification due to their small size and relatively inactive nature. I believe that we more or less have forgotten about them."

"Very well M'lord," Another General said. "So what is your plan of attack?"

"I believe that we should send in the second and third Fleets, as well as the 7th Mobile Suit Division, 2nd and 3rd Marine-Sturm Divisions, XI Lüften Sie beweglich Armeekorps (Airmobile Cavalry Army Corps, 6 Divisions) as well again as the XII ArmeeKorps. This should be sufficient force to take all six worlds. Begin loading these forces onto transports and organizing the fleets. We shall begin our assault when they are ready."

This was done. Soon mass legions of Guardsmen, Leman Russ tanks, Basilisks Artillery cannons, and numerous other toys of the Wanderjarian Empire were mobilizing to ready themselves for war. Scaveutland would have no idea what was coming.

OOC: Sorry for being late. It was a pretty good intro by the way. But a little ruthless on the part of the Empire, but that's to be expected. :)

IC: Councilman Abrahms walked down the marble hallways to the council chamber. The holodisk report in his hand was held so tightly he had to relax his grip so as not to crush the disk he held. When he reached the massive double doorways that were hundreds of years old he paused and composed himself, it would do no good to go in looking flustered, people wouldn't take him seriously.

Abrahms reached toward the doors and pushed the doors open wide. It was a difficult task for the strongest of people and Abrahms wasn't getting any younger but he opened the doors anyway and strode into the bright chamber. The current speaker was looking at him flabbergasted at being interrupted. Abrahms strode to the speaker's dias and pulled the speech amplifier to him.

"Get out of the way you gawking idiot." Abrahms said to the last speaker to a mild rumbling of laughter that rolled through the assembled Councilmen.

As the crowd quieted down Abrahms spoke again, "Esteemed Councilmen of Scaveutland! The time for war is nearing!" The rumbles and assorted gasps from the crowd were drowned out by Abrahms next statement.
"It has come to my attention of a recieved message from one of our ansible spy satellites. A message of mobilization, of an enemy fleet aproaching our world!" Abrahms opened the holodisk player on the podium and placed the disk inside. The com. message sent for the mobilization and the confirmation of a fleet that was larger than any that Scaveutland had ever heard of to be sent to conquer Scaveutland.

As the message ended the silence through the council room was complete. Abrahms knew that this was the time to act.
"Assorted Councilmen from all across our system, this threat is real and there is only one option oen to us. Since this Empire has not even tried to open negotiations the only option is war. The immediate mobilization of the defence forces and fleets. While negotiations may still be possible, we must be ready for the unfortunate possibility of Total War."
One of the councilmen stood, "It must be so! Even if we can end this peacefully we must be ready. Mobilize the fleets!"

Abrahms looked around the council room as the cry was taken up by all,
"The Fleet! The Fleet!" It was time.

Abrahms held his hands up for silence. As the cry faded Abrahms spoke again. "If it is the will of the council then the fleets shall be launced to protect the system and the defence forces shall be reenforced. Long live Scaveutland!"

Abrahms left the hall to the sound of hundreds of voices cheering "Long Live Scaveutland!" As he walked down the hall he placed the comm. link in his ear and spoke the command.

"It is time. Send the fleets. Leave the 1st fleet to guard the home system and send all others to guard the outer systems. The shipyards over Dar'nun are to be restocked with new droids and personell. Get ready." Abrahms closed the comm. link and walked down the hall. Everything was on schedule and the defence would be ready in time. But as the enemy fleets approached there was a flicker of doubt in Abrahms mind.

What if the fleet wouldn't be ready in time? Ah, no matter, they would have to get past not only the outer fortresses and defence platforms but also the asteroid belt which guarded the inner four planets. Things would be alright.

OOC: Sorry for taking so long to respond man, I've been incredibly busy the last few days.

IC:

It was set, and all was accounted for. Millions of soldiers had boarded transport craft to take them into the Scaveutland's system. Massive Battlefleets were assembled from countless Imperial Star Destroyers and other craft which would be hurled forth into the fray. Grand Admiral Reinhardt stood aboard the Reaver, an Executor Class Super Star Destroyer. He spoke through a command module, which relayed his commands throughout the entire Grand Fleet, and spoke, "Active Hyper and Warp Drives. We'll enter the System at the following point" - he sent each commander coordinates onto their Navitron Computers, "and from there the invasion will commence upon this world. For the Empire! For the Emperor!"

The huge fleets began entering hyperspace and their respective warp fields. It would be the largest invasion which the Wanderjarian Empire had ever begun.

And the Wanderjarian Fleets arrived, and what a magnificent, and simeltaneously horrific sight they were to behold. Imperial Star Destroyers came in by the scores, and soon behind them were the Titan Class Battlebarges which had the power of an entire fleet by themselves, supported by Emperor Class Battleships, Gothic Class Cruisers, and Apocalypse Class Battleships. Thousands upon thousands of Tie Fighters, Interceptors, and bombers immediately began to make combat patrols in the space around the Wanderjarian Ships, and the Space Mobile Suit Divisions were put on standby in the event they were needed.

The Executor Class, the largest ship in the Armada arrived, and Grand Admiral Reinhardt smiled at the sheer awsomeness of the force he wielded. The enemy planet, which was very near by, appeared to be draped in black sheets as this was its only future....for when the forces of the Wanderjarian Empire decended upon them, in all their hellish might, all that would be left is darkness.

"It is time," Reinhardt said. "Warn them that they have one hour to surrender or face our wrath."

"Aye Aye Commander," The Communications Officer replied, and sent the message.

OOC: Oh darn, I guess I didn't get the message in one hour... ;)

IC: Admiral Karkov stood on the deck of The Impirator, flagship carrier of the 2nd fleet. It had been a hellish time, assembling the fleets and planetary defences for the battle at the outer ring. But everything was ready, then they arrived. All across the view ports the horizon was covered with enemy ships arriving from warp. There were hundreds of the Wanderjarian ships out past the range of the long ranged artillery.

A crewman approached him from behind, "Sir, We've recieved a message from the Wanderjarian fleet."

"And? What do they want?"

"Sir, they ask for our surrender in one hour. Or else."

"Well, we can't leave them unanswered it would be rude. Are we in range with any of the orbital guns?"

"Yes sir, one of the platforms is in range."

"And why haven't you given them our answer yet?"

"Yes sir! Give the order to fire!"

One of the orbital platforms around the 5th planet in the system fired directly into the heart of the enemy fleet. The message was clear. No.

OOC: I hope you remembered that this is the outer planet in the system and not my home planet, you did remember didn't you?
Wanderjar
12-04-2007, 20:34
OOC: Yes, I planned to take the worlds of your system...one planet at a time.

IC:

The orbital gun assault was anticipated, but it would be but an insect attacking a giant as the Wanderjarian juggernaught moved into range. Wanderjarian craft were incredible things, capable of taking exhorbitant amounts of damage due to their immense size and thick armor. Grand Admiral Reinhardt chuckled at the enemies pathetic attempts to stop them, fool hardily believing that an insignificant orbital gun could touch the might of the Empire.

"Fire the Nova Battaries, I want that gun obliterated." Nova Battaries were the "Main Guns" on a Wanderjarian battle ship. They were extremely powerful and capable of completely destroying an enemies ship instantaneously. The ships of Scaveutland had no where near the armor plating which these guns were designed to drill through. They stood no chance. However these battaries aimed at the enemies Orbital Gun(s), would likely desintegrate it near instantly. The enemies fleets, however, were quickly engaged by the Lance Battaries, heavy secondary guns and the innumerable thousands of other battaries lacing the tops of the Battleships and Cruisers. The Imperial Star Destroyers also began firing with everything they had at the enemies fleets, leaving the Emperor and Apocalypse Classes to deal with the Orbital Gun(s). The Titan Class Battlebarges used their incredible firepower to began smashing the enemies fleets to pieces. The used the same weapons as the Emperor Class, however there were innumerable more weapons upon its surface which made it a one ship battlefleet.

"Prepare interceptors to engage enemy fighters and bombers should they dispatch any," The Admiral stated. "And ready the bombers and line fighters to begin the assault of the world. I anticipate this battle to end quickly." With that, he began to watch as the fireworks flew.

OOC:Sorry again, couldn't reply over the weekend.

IC: The Impirator shook with the explosions of surrounding starships. As Karkov looked out the window he could see that nearly all of the 4th fleet, the one closest to the enemy, had been wiped out in the barrage. Only a few of the destroyers and one Marathon Class was left.

"Sir!" A crewman said from behind him, "We've lost communication with the 4th fleet!"

"Yes, I know, they're gone. As well as most of the orbital batteries. Give the order for all ships to pull behind the gas giant. And evacuate all of the lee side orbital bases."

"Sir! Yes Sir!" With a muffled sound of ringing metal he was gone down the ladder. This wasn't going to be a good day.

Nor would it get any better for them. As the enemy retreated, Admiral Reinhardt continued the order to fire upon the fleeing enemy ships, which they did. Still yet more concentrated fire erupted upon each surviving enemy ship, hoping to blast apart any survivors and make the first Wanderjarian victory complete and total.

The few remaining ships of the 4th fleet exploded into flames as the Wanderjari fleet continued firing. Admiral Karkov and the ships of the 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 6th, and 7th fleets managed to arrive behind the gas giant before any major damage to the fleets. All but four of the orbital platforms had been destroyed and the remaining four had swiveled to stop any enemies from getting past the giant.

Again a crewman came up behind him with a report.

"Sir! All but one of the ships in the 4th fleet have been destroyed sir."

"Which one wasn't?" Karkov replied glumly, one ship wouldn't make much difference now.

"Sir, one of the Marathon Class ships is still functioning and is arriving behind the planet now."

"Really? Well, we may have one chance. Tell all crewmen to evacuate from the ship and launch all droid fighters. Leave the ship on autopilot."

"Yes sir! I'll send the orders!"

"Wait a second. Tell all other ships to regroup at the Belt. I want all of those ships being pumped out of Dar'nun to be there as well."

"Yes sir."

"Excellent job men," Reinhardt broadcasted to all ships. "We've won this first battle. As we've taken virtually no damage ourselves, I believe it to be time to continue moving." With this, the fleet advanced. Sector scans showed large numbers of enemies else where in the area, however they felt it would not be important to engage them. Not yet. They felt it to be more....important, to merely jump or Warp (Depending on the ship class), into the next sector. They would conquer that planet, and then they would deal with any Scaveutlandian forces who tried to come to its rescue. It would be likely, however, that the massed forces of the enemy would be confused by the apparant retreating of the Wanderjarians, buying them at best a few hours to destroy the defenses of the next world, begin the ground invasion, and from there prepare to repel the now informed defenders of what is occuring.

Another world would fall to the Wanderjarians.

OOC: righto good idea neh? Wait... so you think that you can simply warp around my fleets? ..... Yeah sure why not.

IC: Admiral Karkov looked out of the viewport of The Impirator and saw the Wanderjari ships turn and begin out of the system. One of the crewmen came up the ladder to inform him what he already knew.

"Sir the Wanderjari ships, they're-"

"Yes I know. But something's wrong..."

"Sir what is it?"

In the distance Karkov saw the enemy ships exit into warp.
"That's it!"

"Sir?" Came the startled answer from the crewman.

"Tell all but the 5th fleet to turn and head for Dar'nun. The enemy's going to pass right by our defences!"

"But can they do that?"

"Of course they can. Now tell all the ships but the 5th fleet to begin heading for Dar'nun, on the double!"

The crewman sped off down the ladder. Damn. Karkov said silently to himself. It would take three hours to get to Dar'nun, and by then it might be too late.

The Wanderjarian ships arrived before the planet Dar'nun. At first sight, the Wanderjarian Grand Admiral stared in awe of the planet they were about to sack. Orbital Defenses were instantaneously destroyed, and the ships were brought into orbit around the planet.

"So," The Admiral stated to noone in particular, and then turning to the Ground Commander, "This is the beginning of the end for the poor people of this planet. Begin scanning for any Ion Battaries or other anti-Orbital surprises which could harm the invasion. Destroy them and then we'll make planet fall. Have Bombers and Line Fighters fly Air Superiority runs across the planet so that we have absolute domination of the skies for Close Air Support for our forces upon assaulting the planet."

"Aye herr Admiral," The Officer replied. He then relayed his commands to the Heer (Army), while the Air Commander relayed the orders to his pilots. The battle for Dar'nun had begun.

Karkov looked out the viewport of The Impirator. The same question kept playing through his head, would they make it in time?

"Sir!" The crewman said from behind him.

"We've recieved a comm. from Dar'nun. The wanderjarian forces have arrived and destroyed most of the orbital defences!"

"What about the shipyards?"

"No word, perhaps they were not destroyed, being in such a high orbit."

"Yes, they're barely in the system. Continue ahead at full. We have to get to Dar'nun before it's too late."

**********

General Greffin sat in the Dar'nun capital HQ. The reports from orbit weren't good, nearly all of the defences were destroyed and the only chance remaining was to use the planetary defences and sub-orbit ships. Already things were looking bad. Greffin reached forward to press the 'send' button on the comm. panel.
"This is General Greffin. All infanty and armor are to prepare to repel invaders from orbit. All air forces are to protect the planetside batteries. Everyone, this is the time to show them what we're made of!"
