History
After World War Two, Japan had been reduced from a world power to an occupied state. In the Korean War, however, Japan supported the very nation that had contributed most to its defeat. It sent more troops to the peninsula than any other nation in the world, and its military swelled to numbers not seen since the start of the Second Sino-Japanese War. Japan's contribution to the capitalist war effort was the decisive factor in the Allies' victory, and Nippon was restored protection over the North and South Korea. It again supported the UN Allies in Vietnam, and was the major cog in the victory. For this, the new Empire was awarded control over Southeast Asia, and the ROC in Taiwan voted to become a protectorate of the newly christened "Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere." For Japan's magnificent effort in purging communism from North Korea and Vietnam, in 1980, they were awarded the majority of the rest of their former Imperial holdings, Indonesia and the Phillipines. With an increasing sense of Japanese Nationalism, the Diet voted to restore full power to the emperor, and, from then on, he would assume all executive duties of the GEACPS. To appease the rest of their territory, they allowed all former sovereign nations to elect their own nation assemblies to preside over trivial domestic affairs. Ever since the reunification of Japan with its empire, it has installed its own military technology into the armed forces of its puppets, and thus the result is one of the largest and most powerful defense forces in the world.
