Historical Background

Before the Foundation of the Monarchy, most of Ireland was comprised of separate city-states. The largest was the state of Dublin, who in 1345, dominated most of Ireland except for a few states in the north. In 1578, the Prophecy War began with Dublin attacking the city-state of Iveringpool. This lasted until 1595. In 1600, the Kingdom of Ireland was founded. King James I was the first monarch of the Kingdom and was from the House of Meade. His first acts as king were to establish a navy (now the Celtic Navy) and funding building projects to reform the urban sectors of the cities. King James was also unique by establishing a Health Department. The job of the health department was to check health conditions in the cities and then clean up the filth, thus improving health in the city and making them cleaner.

King James died in 1645 from heart failure and then thereafter, the period called the "Age of the Benevolent" consisted of 3 kings. These kings were, despite their short life terms, the most benevolent of all Irish kings. The kings were: King Thomas I; King Daniel I; King Wallace I. But after this period, Ireland was fueled by hatred for the now corrupt monarchy. Famine was spreading throughout the land because of the monarchy seizing food shipments. In 1714, in a response to constant raiding, the monarchy killed 4,000 citizens by beheadings. This fueled the fires for future rebellion, which would come in 1744. The Celtic/Irish Civil War began with the Royalists (nobles and royal citizens) and the Radicals (lower-class and middle-class) fighting each other for control of the country. In the end, the Radicals won the Civil war ten years later. A true constitution was formatted in 1777 by the Council of Elders (who would form the House of Elders in Parliament.)

After 1777, the new Republic of Ireland relived stability. The constitution granted the monarchy the right to live, but had no governing powers. They only had the right to emergency powers if approved by Parliament. With the monarchy powerless, the masses celebrated Unity day, which took place on December 1st (same day as the victory of the Radicals.)

The Irish Colonial Empire

In 1889 the political stability within the Republic collapsed and yet another civil war ensued. This second civil war saw an increase in casualties, this time aimed more towards civilians. Famine once again reared its ugly head and support for the war became exhausted on both sides. Yet this time it was the monarchy that won the day.

In 1900 with famine and poverty rising at dubious levels, the King resorted to military conquest. In order to rebuild its shattered economy he took to Africa. That same year a naval expedition was sent into the Orient. The land campaign was met with disaster in its initial years. For two years the Irish battled the Algerian’s in a bloody struggle. Across the world however, the luck was with the Irish. The naval expedition had landed soldiers on the Philippines. Though they encountered minor opposition the island was in Irish control within three years. Nevertheless the island remains a problem for guerilla warfare. For two more years the war in Algeria continued until the home front could not longer take it. A revolution occurred which finally removed power from the Monarchy. A hasty constitution was redrawn and peace made in Algeria. Nevertheless the Irish had claimed the Algerian coast and didn’t return said land.

The colonies are vital to the Irish economy. The Philippines has been turned into a self sufficient island more or less due to its distance from the main land. Africa is where Ireland derives most of its natural resources.

Colonial Army:
1st Algerian Cavalry [3,000]
2nd Algerian Infantry [5,000]
[3rd Algerian Infantry 10,000]

1st Filipino/Irish Infantry [5,000]

Population Increase: 200,000

Spurred by the increasing industrial demand Dublin has issued a large contract to further increase the railroad infrastructure. The plans call for an overhaul in production, with importance placed around ports both old and developing.

Furthermore a second contract has been issued to create a large railroad system in Ireland’s colonial territories. The project is estimated to take 2 to 4 years in Ireland and 3 to 5 in Africa to complete.

With help from Dublin, private corporations have begun laying the foundation for a national telegraph system that will help the entire nation communicate. This is an important step in Ireland’s future as it will further boost the economy.

As with the railroad program, the telegraphs are scheduled to being in the Colonies asap. The entire project, including the colonies, is estimated at one year.

Liam-Roger Aerospace
Liam-Roger is Ireland’s premier Aerospace contractor and as of now the only major company in the industry. During the earlier part of the centaury they focused on machine engines, however with the rise of air power they began to create a line of aircraft powered by their own engines.

ooc: lets see, with no actual war [yet] the guns are kind of... not there... due to the tech set up. and Check with people before claiming to be the only one doing something. i am reminded of the airship lines, for example. otherwise, good to know.

Good to know someone is reading. I meant the only company in Ireland, sorry for the confusion.

With the weapons, its about a year or two at max off which i assumed (perhaps not a good thing) was feasible to research.

ooc: yeah, HT is being very strict about new military tech being dependent on the situations that resulted in it's creation actually occurring.

which means you need aircraft in combat and so on before the first armed ones start showing up. also no one's going to show up with tanks until the need to overcome trench warfare arises, and so on. in the case of the aircraft, it's not so much the research, as anyone thinking to Do it.

also, i read because you linked. heh. fact books are, primarily, reference data. "can you or can't you actually do that?" kind of thing. which means most people won't read them until they need information.

To: Liam-Roger Aerospace
Incognitia Aerospace would like to explore the possibilities of collaboration between the two companies.
We are attempting to expand our heavier-than-air operation to match the success of the airship branch, and could use Liam-Roger's expertise.
We believe that we can assist in return, as due to the success of airship sales, especially to Incognitia Airlines, we have a substantial skilled workforce and large reserves of capital. Combined with good aircraft designs, these would swiftly put us in a commanding position in the industry...along with any industrial partners we happened to have.

Re: Liam-Roger Aerospace

Liam-Roger is always looking to expand our business. Though our company only recently entered into actual aero planes, we believe we offer one of the best products in the World. To be recognized by such a World renowned company is an honor. What exactly, do you have in mind?

Our essential proposal is that, in return for your designs and assistance with bringing them to production in Incognitia, we share the results of our further research into heavier-than-air craft, and pay a certain royalty on any production of your designs.
Would this be acceptable?

RE: Liam-Roger Aerospace

Of course there would be an initial fee for our services and as you said, royalties paid on individual production. In return for our designs and assistance, besides the above mentioned, we would receive joint research into further Aerospace designs and science. If this is acceptable then I believe we have a deal.

Respectfully,

Killian Desmond
CEO & President

RE: Merom

Unfortunately we do not sell individual aircraft. This is more for security reasons as it would be easy to simply copy the design.

For a reasonable initial fee, this is an entirely acceptable deal. We look forward to the fruits of our co-operation.

The Irish government, planning for the future, has issued a massive shipbuilding enterprise to bring what would be the United Kingdom to naval prominence. The planned vessels include:

5 Minotaur Class Armoured Cruisers
10 Furious class large light cruisers
2 Courageous class large light cruisers
4 Danae class light cruisers
6 Capetown class light cruisers
5 Ceres class light cruisers
2 Renown Class
3 Royal Sovereign Class

The cost for this plan which is spread out over ten years is exceptionally high though planners seem to believe that the economy will be able to support it for a number of reasons. First money will be redirected from other military branches as there will be little need for anything else really after the Island is secure. The economy in the African colonies will be much improved at this time considering the amount of public works projects including telegraph construction and railroad construction. This also applies to Ireland and the United Kingdom. Finally the whole of the United Kingdom will be working together, utilizing their control over the English Channel and trading with Europe at a higher scale.
