The Republic of Iragia has just received its first shipments of an estimated 13,000 for the HT-101 Armoured Personnel Carrier, developed by the People's Republic of Hurtful Thoughts. Many observers were astounded at the introduction of this vehicle into Iragian service, as Iragia's initial order with the PROHT was rejected, Ministry of Defence documents reveal. The Ministry of Defence has refused to comment on where the vehicles came from, though an official who wishes to remain anonymous stated that there may have been some under the table dealings to acquire the battle-tested vehicle.

The HT-101 is slated to replace the BMP and BTR series vehicles presently in service as the standard infantry carrier/fighting platform and work is being done at the Hamilton Army Depot in association with Iragian National Armaments to 'Iragianize' the vehicle for AFIR service.

Present modifications include plans to replace the overpowered, and fuel wasting 850 HP engine presently installed with the 500 HP diesel powerplant utilized in the I-- series armoured vehicle, developed and manufactured by INA. Extra space freed up from the smaller powerplant would be used for stores and additional fuel. This design change is slated to increase vehicle range considerably, up to 460 miles, 60 miles greater than the original HT-101. A new electronics package is being developed for the vehicle, and will include a variety of sophisticated eletronics warfare and communications equipment for superior capabilities on the emerging digital battlefield.

For the armament, Iragian National Armaments has refashioned the turret from an ICV for use on the initial batch of HT-101s, to be designated IN-101s. The ICV turret fields a 30mm chain gun, with a co-axial 7.62mm machine gun. 8 76mm grenade launchers are mounted onto the turret for discharging a variety of 76mm rounds, but primarily smoke. A missile rail is fitted for utilizing any one of a number of Soviet AT series guided missiles. Also mounted ontop of the turret is a hardpoint for a variety of weapon systems, but most commonly the 12.7mm machine gun.

Iragian National Armaments has announced that in addition to manufacturing spare parts and replacement vehicles for Iragian service, it will also be releasing its variation of the HT-101 for export. The INE-101 (Iragian National Export Model 101) will be released with a variety of features, ranging from simple, reliable, yet effective mechanical model with little electronics, to a sophisticated command model, and advanced electronic warfare/comms platforms.

After initial testing, the first models are being further modified for superior amphibious capabilities for use by the Naval Infantry. The IN/INE-101 will field improvements to it's amphibious systems to allow for faster preparation for amphibious use, and will utilize NBC sealing systems to help prevent sinking in the event a vehicle enters the water too quickly.

Other amenities included in the vehicle are air conditioning and heating for arctic/desert environments, and bulldozer blades are standard. As with the original Hurtian model HT-101s, the vehicle fields a 48" turret ring for mounting a wide variety of turrets, and Iragian model IN/INE-101 vehicles can utilize all the turrets mounted onto the Hurtian vehicle

OOC: Really? Because it shouldn't seeing as I plan on UPGRADING to your models in the future. And they were picked up off of Leafanistan's mafia market, and with our own export model, it might just hurt Hurtian arms sales...win, win, win no?

OOC: Nah I was just joking, I'm glad that you upgraded from the old Soviet model. If you don't object, there may be a mission in the very near future for Iragia.

OOC: Well I have strat lift with my new An-225s, but still need to pick up fighters and warships, otherwise the AFIR stands ready to serve.

the battle-tested vehicle.

You might not have used the above term if you checked its battle history, its first use was about as entertaining as the first combat use of the TBM Avenger at the battle of Midway... A 6 on 60 slaughter... their burned out wrecks made good bunkers though. Thoughout the Chitzi conflict, it was used as a Parthian punching bag for ATGMs...

Apparently, the Leafansi Mafia managed to take a few surviving models home with them after the conflict (which I supposedly only loaned to them, not donated), they then asked for production/selling rights, and I agreed, since they already had the tanks, blueprints, and infrastructure to build them, so I chose to endorse them.

Not sure on their exploits on the CA side of the fence, but over here, their greatest success was in a hostage rescue after being airlifted in with their crews by a pair of Mi-26 Halos, and performed rather well on the cramped city streets.

Chinese Type 59 =\= Russian T-54/55
Chinese Type 80 =\= Russian T-80/84

I'm pretty sure the impact would be minimal, except for the proliferation of said AFV within the CA. Free advertising...

So you DOWNGRADED the engine, autocannon, machine gun, and grenade launcher of the HT-101, while you are slating to 'UPGRADE' the Mercury in the near future...
(Chances are, there is a logical explanation such as that 35 mm and .50 cal isn't your standard calibers, or that you opt for more shells)

Plus, if the picture is to be an accurate representation of the IRE-101, it is poorly sloped in comparassion to the HT-101.
(Maybe I should actually draw the HT-101 profile on paint to clear up the confusion, as currently, your APC looks like my old H2M-113A4 mods, which the HT-101 replaced)

I'm also wondering what OTHER FEATURES from the HT-101 you incorporated in the IRE-101.

OOC: PROHT, I was meaning to ask what the mass was since you never pointed it out. As for the engine, well an M113 only has 275Hp, and you said its comparable vehicle, so a 500Hp engine would actualy be overkill for even that...electronics package was added with fancy ballistic computers, rangefinders, thermal and night systems, comms, etc. The weapons have been changed to reflect standard Iragian calibers and also because that was the turret that already existed in Iragian service with the I-- series vehicles. If you're looking for it to make sense, don't, this is also based on the political and military procurement situation in Iragia, as RL nations often forgo what would be militarily best in favour of other things, this is basically what Iragia is doing now.

Actually, I overkilled the max HP /w/ all 3 motors running (1 diesel electric rig and a gas turbine) to be in excess of 750 HP because it was designed for up-armoring to 40+ tons... Empty wieght is about 12 or 15 tons depending on what you mean by 'empty'.

Making it more comparale to the M113 in capabilities (when in 'light' configuration) but being closer in specs to a PT-76 or M-551...

This becomes more noticeable in the HT-101E4, mounting a 105 mm cannon on an oversized turret. Or the HTC-108 mounting an 203 mm howitzer... Or the HTR-148 ballistic missile carrier...

Then there was that experemental HTM-136 SP siege mortar carrier...

For general APC duty only the 350 HP diesel-electric (not hybrid) drive was used...
(and even then, with a number of the cylinders 'shut off' to conserve fuel)

The HT-101 suspension, likewise, was designed to handle the 400% load increase by inserting leaf springs in the field. The suspension also carried a lock-out device, whch is normally resserved for artillery units, this prevented air-drops from damaging the springs and allowed some versions to fire 8" SP howitzers (also made inserting leaves and replacing tracks easier than usual, provided it worked).

==========
Each track was also 24" wide (wide by any standard) and was made sure that it could be submergd without any catastrophic failure, or swim acros the water depending upon configuration. A 'heavy' HT-101 unit generally crossed by sending a 'light' cross with a tow cable, and then simpley drag them across the bottom (a similar method was used to move T-34 tanks across the Volga, Donn, and Dnieper rivers).

This was due to the Hurtian requirement for an armored vehicle capable if traversing Hurtian swamps and jungles while also being capable of fighting enmy MBTs in said locations*; this was a critical factor in how the Hurtians managed to occupy almost the entire North swamps of Chitzeland, and set up fire-bases plus keeping them supplied in record time.

*Among other requirements where clandestine insertion via modified submarine upon enemy shorelines, abilty to navigate and patrol waterways, act as a long range sniper's car (the 35 mm can poke pretty far, and no, it isn't the best gun available in my opinion, I just use only one size light cannon, 35 mm, no 20's, 40's, 30's or 25's), and to act as an engineering vehicle for the infantry by setting up parpets and other hasty defenses.

The rear hatch was designed so that troops could mount or dismount from a moving HT-101 while taking fire with minimal risk to themselves, though troops are still strongly encouraged to dismount their AFV's upon commiting themselves to an assault.

You baught a multi-tool because you wanted a pair of pliers...

But not wanting the knife, screwdriver, saw, or nail clippers, you decided to cut those off, rather than keep them.

Ah well, if they go up against the original, you politicians may take notice of the hidden performance gap...
