Errikan-DSRT Colonial Negotiations

With the expansion of colonial empires into the newly discovered continent of Erdengrün, the Empire of Errikland and the Dictorial State of Red Tide have taken positions adjacent to one another. For maximum gain for both sides with minimal conflict, a certain degree of coodination is necessary.

That is why these negotiations were organized.

Inselgrün, 0800

Joshua Patton, the head Errikan civil servant in the region, stepped down from his heliopter and straightened his jacket, surveying the situation. He stood at 6'4", about average Errikan height, and had short, Nordic blonde hair and a pale, clean shaven face which bore a thin scar on the chin. His dress - a formal black suit and hat, standard Errikan formal ware - matched his stiff and formal demeanor. He would run the Errikan side of these negotiations, and he had a clear set of goals for these negotiations.

Brigadier-General Nikolai Veryssonach Ivanov took another glance out of the TC-2D Cargo Helicopter as it flew over the bay. He then glanced at the NKVD Agent sitting there. He, as a soldier, didnt like the NKVD... almost none of the high ranking officers in the Red Tidean Military liked the NKVD. Yet, they were a fact of life.

He looked back down at his papers and managed to keep his gaze on them for about 10 seconds before he heard over the headphones the cold, monotone voice of his pilot.

"Comrade General, we will be landing in a minute. Please prepare for departure."

The 'comrade' thing was a left over from the time of communism. Old habits die hard would be the appropriate thing to say. Nikolai wasnt really a diplomat, he had just been picked because he was the highest ranking officer in the area who had used to be in the DSRTs Foreign Ministry. Then he had been conscripted and given the option of the officers academy or the Hallucagenic Control Collar, in a ways he was lucky. Most people didnt to choose.

He felt the helicopter bump a little as its wheels touched down. The door automatically opened and he and his NKVD 'Aide' unbuckled their seat belts. Nikolai was somewhat nervous, not because of the meeting, but because of the NKVD Agent that was his assigned aide. As much as they didnt like them, the Red Tidean Officers also feared the NKVD.

OOC: Just a minor note. "Iselgrun" with an umlat is what I have called the island. If you want it to have a different name, I'm probably fine with that.

Also, I am going to assume your landing zone is near the negotiation area.

IC: Patton watched the helicopter land a distance away as the men behind him set up the negotiation area. A large table had been brought in by helicopter, and was set on this flat boulder which would form the perfect meeting area. It overhung besides a waterfall, and Patton took a moment to admire the sheer natural beauty of the area his government had chosen for these negotiations.

He then turned to watch the Red Tidean diplomats approach.

GAH! Im here! Im here!

IC:
Brigadier General Nikolai was your typical Red Tidean officer, a seemingly uncaring face, a somewhat over-extravagent uniform, and he carried himself in a way that was surprisingly modest... for in Red Tide, you could recieve a bullet in the head for immodesty. He spoke in reasonably accented English:

"I am Bigidier General Nikolai Veryssonach Ivanov... I have been authorised to speak on behalf of the Red Tide Goverment. It is a pleasure to meet you, Mr..."

He held out his hand for a handshake.

IC: Patton smiled, reaching forward to return the handshake.

"Patton. Commander Joshua Patton. I will represent the government of the Errikan Empire for these proceedings," he said, his Errikan accent easily understandable, "And I assure you that the feeling is mutual."

He approached the table, pulling out a chair on one side before walking around to the other side. Grasping a handle of a suitcase, he lifted it to the table top.

"This truely is a beautiful day for negotations, is it not?" he laughed, opening the suitcase and stacking its contents on the table.

Nikolai looked at the cloudless sky, then nodded.

"Indeed, I often wonder if there will ever be storms here... other then the nessecary rain." He said.

He sat in his chair on his own side of the table, his NKVD Aide taking position beside him. Then he got down to buisness.

"The first thing I suggest we decide is are the strait leading into this bay. I propose a joint ownership, in which both sides ships can pass through freely. However, I also propose that any military ships from Red Tide must remain a certain distance from the Errikland side of the strait and vice-versa."

"That is perfect," Patton said, taking his seat as he motioned for Nikolai to do the same, "What distance would you prefer military vessels maintain?"

At the same time, he pulled a paper (http://www.maj.com/gallery/Errikland/NS/Maps/errikan_n_base.png) out of his stack, placing it on top.
