Captain's Log, Stardate 6793.1.

The Enterprise has performed above all of my expectations to date. The now 25 year old vessel has been put through a rigorous five year mission to explore the Beta Quadrant.

We have encountered new races such as the Klingons and Romulans, met genetically engineered augments from our own past, and truly gone where no man has gone before.

I am sad to report that only 250 of our original 410 crewmembers are still with us. Deceitful attacks by the Klingons and Romulans took their toll on both ship and crew. Our ship may be operational, but the empty bunks and sloppy appearance of our hull repairs are constant reminders of tragedy faced on our voyage.

One can only hope that their sacrifice will not be in vain.

The Enterprise had truly been put through an endurance test unmatched by any Starfleet vessel to date. She had been on assignment for five long years. Her only trip home came during the two month long war against the Cardassians in the middle of the second year of the five year mission. Now she was almost home.

"We are now on the perimeter of the Primus System," reported Sulu.

"Slow to warp factor 1," ordered Kirk. "Uhura, contact Primus Station for docking instructions."

Uhura carried out her order and reported to Kirk. "Sir, we are being redirected to San Francisco Shipyards. I'm not getting a reason why."

"Don't worry," responded Kirk. "I guess Starfleet wants to get started with the refit early."

"What refit?" asked Chekov.

"The Enterprise is to undergo an 18-24 month long refit," responded Kirk. "I've seen the plans and they look sound. If successful, this ship should be set for another 20-30 years of use."

Sulu interrupted. "Sir, we are now entering primary travel lanes for Primus III."

"Slow to impulse," ordered Kirk. "Take us in Sulu."
